On our latest visit to the Irvine Spectrum, my girlfriend and I explored Rocket Fizz mainly for their selection of Jelly Belly candy and Salt Water Taffy. While their selection of JB's are limited to prepackaged flavors and combos, we found a few new ones that we hadn't yet tried. Their selection of bottle soda is great and I picked out a bottle of Ventnor's Ginger Soda. I look forward to revisiting the taste of it from my childhood soon. They do have your hearts content of candy. I saw some of the candy priced for less at nearby stores . It would be nice if the pricing was comparable to what you could find elsewhere. What you're paying for is the convenience of not having to hunt down these treasures. I saw things like candied black ants and other insects for sale , candy cigarettes, a soda case . I didn't see the price on the sodas so I asked a store associate and I was told that most of them are around $4.50 a bottle. read more

I usually stop by when I'm in the area to check out any new, strange, or unique treats. That said, they do carry a wide variety of candies and other snacks. It's basically a collection of weird and unusual items all in one place, with splashes of some normal items. It's a decent stop if you're looking for a very specific candy that isn't commonly sold or just trying to see a variety of items all at once. Prices are definitely on the higher side, especially for the more interesting items, and I've seen some of these products for less elsewhere. read more

Cute and fun if you don't mind paying out the wazoo. Each fun bottle of soda runs $4-6. They get $14.99 for a teeny bag of taffy. Most of the US candy and Asian import candy can be found at local Walmarts and Asian grocery stores. It's the Spectrum so I expect everything to be expensive. But this was painful. I used to come to Rocket Fizz every time I visit the spectrum. However, nowadays, much of the candy is stale and extremely overpriced. Almost any type of sweet you could want with a good section of imported items. My only issue with Rocket Fizz is how much they mark up the American items. Some items are NOT imported, but they cost $2 - $3 more than they would at the nearby Target. I have no issue paying more for specialty or imported items, but do have a problem paying more for the same Hot Tamales that I could get somewhere else. I am writing to complain about a defective product and the unacceptable behavior of a manager. After purchasing a bag of Warheads Extreme candy (individually wrapped), I opened it immediately after paying and discovered that two of the packets were completely empty. I had not left the store, so I went straight back to the register. When I spoke to the manager on duty (a woman wearing a black mask), she did not offer a refund or a replacement. Instead, she said, "Even if I give you another one, it could happen again." While shrugging her shoulders! Exactly why would I want another one of your defective products? Missing candy raises concerns about quality and possible tampering. I came in for candy, not a nasty attitude from a grown woman who clearly does not know how to problem-solve or handle a customer issue. Unfortunately, I did not have the energy to argue over five-dollar candy, but I should not have had to argue at all. This entire interaction was frustrating, dismissive, and unacceptable. I expect this issue to be addressed. If pictures are needed I'm more than happy to provide them. To be clear, this is not even about the candy itself. What I am upset about is that a manager allowed a paying customer to walk out of the store with a product that had clearly been compromised and potentially tampered with, showing no concern or solution whatsoever. read more

This store is very eye catching from the outside! There's tons of bright colors and fun looking items! There's tons of sodas, candies, lunchboxes, containers, etc. The employees are very nice! There is a bottle opener near the register that you can use after you buy some sodas. I got the Always Ask For Avery's Kitty Piddle and Dog Drool sodas. They are both pineapple orange and orange lemon flavor. They both taste great! However, there's tons of fun flavors in the soda refrigerator that definitely seem worth trying! But, if you want to get what Rocket Fizz has to offer, this is your place to go in Orange County. This is a large location. They really have tons and tons of all kinds of candies, chips, gums, soft drinks, you name it. They really have a lot of stuff! Plus, as is the case with all Rocket Fizz stores, they have some novelty items as well. One of the fun things I find about this location is that they have several things such as chips, that they have imported from all over the globe. In terms of taste, it's pretty much the same as the local items, but it's just kind of fun to say eat a bag of chips with labeling from Thailand. This is a large, well organize store. Oh my goodness! This candy shop impressed me and I just spent a week at Disneyland. Rocket Fizz soda pop & candy shop is in the Irvine Spectrum Shopping Center in Irvine, California. I was blown away by all the cute useless candy... wall of Pez dispensers...,candy that was a blast from the past, ohhh so much candy!! Of course I wanted most of it. LOL. Plus they had a huge variety of soda pop in glass bottles. Yes! The old school sodas made of real cane sugar and not the HFCS nonsense. They were in the cold case and at room temp. I've come here from time to time probably once a year and bought a few things, but this latest visit is probably my very last. First of all, the employee is never friendly in the place ever. Today, I TRIED to buy some things. The card payment machine didn't work, so she brought out another handheld card payment device, which didn't work either. So she asked if I had cash, which I didn't. So, I didn't buy a thing. The employee acted like this is all new to her that the machines don't work. THEY NEED TO HAVE A SIGN AT THE REGISTER SAYING, "CASH ONLY" then. But, I have a feeling that other customers may have been able to purchase just fine. I just wish I stuck around to see how their transctions were done. But, I wasn't going to stay in the store to try to bother seeing. The employee knows the machines don't work, so in that case, the entire store needs to be closed if no one can buy anything. Why is the store even open then?! The good things that came out of this is that I saved $64 & change and I saved my body from buying that sugar & junk anyway. My debit card worked just fine at all the other places I went to that day and yesterday, and last week, and last month. I just hope I don't end up having a charge on my card anyway in a day or two. read more

What a fun store!! I think they had almost all of my childhood memories, at least as is in candy. I didn't even know they still made Whatchamacallit bars. But not only do they have long-forgotten candy, but they also have international items as well. Some of my favorites from Europe were there along with several unique items only found in Asian countries. And then there are the drinks, non-alcoholic of course. So many fun flavors and brands. Now throw in some fun merchandise, especially if you're into funko pops (I'm not) but some great metal signs that are fun to peruse. My only purchase this trip was a blast to the past for me, Tart 'n' Tinys, which I don't think I've seen for decades, but a favorite if mine when I was little. (Only 180 calories for the entire bag!). I should mention they aren't cheap, but don't let that sway from visiting or getting a little blast from your past to munch on. read more

When I am in Irvine, I always put an effort to visit this store. Super amazing vibe and atmosphere. I was truly amazed by the huge selection offered, and the store seems to be incredibly well designed. Just an array of colors and decorations, super appealing. In addition, I found the staff to be incredibly inventive and kind. I was looking for a specific old-time candy, "Valomilk", and the staff was super keen on helping find this specific candy. While they were out of stock in the front, the manager was generous enough to look in the back for me, and eventually find one of their remaining Valomilk's. Incredibly kind gesture. This store is the death of me literally it's like a candy land factory filled with all my childhood fantasies. Entering this store made me so excited and happy to see items I've never seen before. They had sailor moon sodas and other anime characters like dragon ball z. I ended up with hello kitty since I bought cookies the cafe earlier. The store itself is fun to look around in with all the variety they have in stock. Mainly sodas and gummies from my observation. I bought lays ghost pepper chips and Arizona fruit snacks. The lays chips had a kick but the flavor settled down fairly quickly. Still a tasty snack. The gummies were hard and disappointing gelatinous abomination. I'm from out of town but my sister lives down the street from here, so I stop by every time I visit. This shop is really cool. There's a nostalgia feeling every time I'm in here. There's a whole bunch of snacks, candies, drinks, etc from all over different places. They have a lot of vintage stuff such as Pez, Signs, Lunch Boxes, etc. Speaking of which, I make it a tradition to buy a lunch box every time I'm in town. It's also become a collectable hobby of mine. The customer service is great & I haven't had any problems the several times I've been here.
