The selection of candy and sodas here is super awesome as they have many varieties that you just don't find many places now a days! They had plenty of my favorite Take 5 bars as well as those unique Kit Kat's that are hard to find seriously it was a bad idea for me to come here because I ended up buying more candy that I really needed and yeah I'm not going to give it out for Halloween it's all mine but you can have some too if you ask nicely! I was browsing all the stores at the Spectrum searching for my cousin's birthday present. When I saw Rocket FIzz, I knew there would be something that I can add into my cousin's gift-package. There was a variety of imported snacks and candies (from Asia and Europe). There was posters of comics and other witty sayings as well. Most importantly, there seems to be every bottle of soda pop brand that still exists. This place basically has everything an adult's inner child would want, and it comes at a high price. Knowing my cousin LOVEs cream soda. I bought a 6-pack of assorted cream sodas for him as a part of his birthday gift. When he saw it, he was so excited!! We ended up doing a cream soda TASTING!! It was so fun!! We judged it on taste, scent, and amount of carbonation... Here's how we rank it: 1. Virgil's Cream Soda: My cousin said it's better than "sexy time." haha... The scent was luring and the taste was even better. This leaves you wanting more. 2. Judge Wapner's Cream Soda: This was a close second. Great scent and great taste and I still want more.. just not as badly. 3. Death Valley Cream Soda: Great taste but the scent wasn't as mesmerizing. 4. IBC: I felt like the flavors weren't as strong in this one. 5. Sioux City Cream Soda: I don't recall... 6. Dr Brown's Cream Soda: We did not like the taste and there was a weird after taste drinking this one... Needless to say, my cousin loved his gift and it was fun to do a cream soda tasting. I will definitely be back for their pricey goods that I can't get elsewhere. However I would rather go to the asian supermarket for asian snacks cause it's really overpriced here :) read more

Nostalgia at it;s absolute finest. After stopping at the Irivine Spectrum yesterday to cash in some Dave & Busters tickets I knew it was the perfect opportunity to finally check this place out. I made my way over and was immediately taken aback by the sheer wonderment of the candy and old fashioned soda's within. I was immediately greeted by the lady working the front counter and she even gave me a quick run through of the store and it's layout. She said to let her know if I had any questions and then made her way back around to the register to check out some customers. I walked aimlessly around for about 10 minutes before discovering the root beer section. I was totally stoked to see both Virgil's and Dad's varieties of root beer and quickly snatched up a Dad's for the road. After seeing several reviews from different people who absolutely love the Black Cherry Soda (as do I), I quickly found this section as well. I snatched up a Diet Dr. Browns Black Cherry and a Olde Brooklyn Raspberry Soda (for my wife) and hit the register. The total was around $7 bucks for the three sodas which wasn't too bad considering I cannot find these too many other places. The decor using old posters and cardboard stand ups is quite unique and really gives the place that old school, childlike flare that I love. All walls are lined from end to end and top to bottom with candy and soda's, they have so many options to choose from it would take years to get through them all and I might take up the task. I am intrigued by the bacon flavored soda as well as the hot wing variety but decided to forego them on this first trip. I can see myself spending a lot of money in here on both sodas as well as their extensive selection of candy variations not found other places (green tea or passion fruit Kit-Kat anyone?) I will be back soon to try some more exciting varieties for sure. read more

Even though I was disappointed when I came here, I still like this store (3.5 stars). Rocket Fizz has lots and lots of candy. European candy, strange candy, retro candy, Japanese candy and regular candy that you'd find anywhere. Plus a ton of taffy. They also have a lot of odd-brand soda pop, many with very unique flavors (cookie dough soda?!). There are a few gag gifts and retro style signs for sale too. My disappointment was in the limited amount of nostalgic candy. There wasn't as much as I anticipated and they didn't have much inventory of some of the ones I really wanted (only 2 tubes of Flicks! only a couple Pez dispenser choices!). I also found a lot of the pricing to be on the steep side...but I suppose leasing at the Irvine Spectrum isn't cheap. Still, this place brought a smile to my face and I'm glad it's in the area so I can maintain my supply of Fizzies, Idaho Spuds and pop rocks. read more

One employee (older lady who I believe is owner) clearly saw ne struggling with my kid to find something and didn't offer to help until I got loud to ask for assistance. The markup on the candy (yes, I know the cost of goods) is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Purchased a candy bar labeled $1.89, was charged $2.49. Walked back in seconds later, girl at register told me that the sticker price was wrong, that they go off of what's on the system. I asked for the difference back ( it's the principle and more importantly theft), and she told me no. The worst customer service experience in my whole life. The manager (Homa) was watching me maneuver the entire time I was browsing the candy, which made me extremely uncomfortable. I wasn't doing anything out of the sorts or suspicious. When I picked my items, the rude manager looked at me in a DISGUSTING manner and accused me of stealing. I was appalled and immediately showed her my bag to prove that I'm not a thief, her cocky and rude attitude left me so angry. Terrible customer service. Very nasty and rude. One of the ladies working followed me and my black mom around the store and even tried to accuse my mom for stealing until she realized the merchandise was still in the store. It's really ridiculous that they would discriminate against us and put something like stealing under our belt just because of the color of our skin. First of all my son is 12 he had my credit card and cash to spend so he doesn't need to steal nor would he. His friends had money too and in the past they've bought many items in this store which were so over priced.
