Rainy Monday evening visit, set a reservation per the recommendation on the site. Arrived and no issues with seating, socially distanced and everyone abiding by guidelines. Kicked off with the Pinot Noir Wine Flight, which all 3 wines were quite enjoyable. My guest and I shared the Spinach and Artichoke appetizer, which was delicious. Creamy and well seasoned, served with crostinis. We needed a few more crostini to finish it. I had the steak wrap and it was just OK. Needed a bit more steak and little more seasoning. The past two times we came here was on a weekend night after dinner at Olive & Oak. Both times we questioned if they were even open. It's dead inside with no background music. Just incredibly unwelcoming and awkward. The last visit, there was a group of six that walked in after us wondering the same thing - whether they were closed or not. I don't know? Maybe that's a key indicator to change the vibe. The service is unfriendly. Especially the female bartender who might also be a manager? No charm. No thanks. No bueno. Let's switch it up. The atmosphere of this little wine bar was so cute! They had great wine and cocktail options with the option of a wine flight! I loved the options on the menu and I had a delicious sirloin! The portions of the entrees were small so I would recommend a starter and salad also. In addition, the bread pudding dessert was wonderful. The service was pretty awful at Robust. Great place to dine that accommodates larger parties. We were looking for a last minute dinner option for our party of 7 on a Friday night and luckily Robust was able to accommodate us. We dined indoors but they've extended their seating to their outdoor patio. They have a binder full of wine options with "robust" ratings that are paired with the food. They also have wine flights. We wanted a bottle of the primitivo but they ran out of it so our waitress recommended a Syrah that was similar and we our party was happy with the recommendation. We had a few vegetarian people in the party and they had plenty of options. We got the spinach artichoke dip, baked goat cheese, baked Brie, baby kale salad, duck, and the cheese and charcuterie board all of which were pretty good. My favorite was the baked goat cheese which I think is a must try. We also tried all 3 desserts-the pot de creme which our waitress Rihanna described as a salted caramel creme brûlée on crack, the brownie a la mode, cinnamon raisin bread pudding. Really recommend this place. The food is all delicious. Ordered the steak and it was cooked perfectly. The cheese and charcuterie platter was fantastic. I haven't tried a wine flight there yet but hope to next time I visit the St Louis area. Aside from dealing with Webster parking (always a challenge!) this is a great location for dinner with friends, dates, etc. Warm lighting, nice varied menu, service usually prompt and friendly, it's not too pricey, etc. This is a go-to spot for me when I am in town as it's a nice central spot for my friends to converge at with one in the city and two in the suburbs. We love the baked brie appetizer, the seafood chowder, and their shrimp dinner with rice or grits. Will definitely return when I am in town next! read more

One word.....BRIANNA!! LISTEN!!! Each one of these five stars belongs to her, and her only. The food was decent, but the service we received was impeccable to say the least. I cannot even begin to describe how much she made our entire dining experience amazing. My fiancé and I stopped in on a whim to grab a couple drinks before seeing a show at the local college. At first we didn't think we were going to be seated because we didn't have reservations, and the hostess seemed a little off put that we didn't. But, she found a table in the back we were able to enjoy a couple flights at. The menu is EXPANSIVE and our server talked us through it briefly and asked what our taste was. I prefer sweet wines while my fiancé prefers red. I got my flight relatively quickly, while my fiancé had to wait over 10 minutes. I'm guessing it's just because of how busy they were. I like this location a lot - I've been to both this one and the downtown location. We made reservations and were seated upon arrival and notification of our name. The restaurant had a good vibe on a Friday night with many couples and groups enjoying their evening. I love the selection of wines here, I always love to get a flight when I come because I get to try more wines! For dinner I've been here so many times that I've tried the steak, the chicken, and am a big fan of the crab cake as a starter as well. We have also come and just had the cheese board which I recommend if you're a cheese board fan. We went here for the 1st time to try the place out. They have a spacious outdoor seating area with Pier One decor. The inside is also spacious with that small intimate feel. The decor has that mix of casual, romantic, simple elegance yet chill feel. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Our server was Joshua. He was very nice and attentive. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding the various drink and food options. You have to order both the Chef's cheese sampler and charcuterie plates. They are amazing!!! The Pear 75 was good but my chocolate martini was just OK. The brick chicken and sirloin steak need work in the flavor department. I would not recommend ordering either dish. Our desserts were delicious. The salted caramel pot due creme and apple cobbler were the perfect finish to the night. Stopped in for a COVID friendly happy hour and so glad we did. They have an extensive wine/champagne menu with several draft beers to choose from. All staff were wearing masks, tables spread out, and the bar had a plexi glass divider. We were so excited to be able to have wine/champagne flights! We went to Robust for wine tasting, they had a decent selection of wines from around the world. The wines were ok, the service likewise. It didnt really stand out, at least for me. To finish our meal we had ordered a skillet cookie, to my surprise, it came in a tiny skillet, and the cookie didnt even fill up the skillet. It was a tiny round cookie dough in a half empty skillet, likely just bought from a supermarket. That left a lackluster experience for our meal. It's worth a try, but there are other more charming or generous places around I feel. read more

My friends and I often frequent here. They have a great selection of wine and their bartenders are skilled in making other kinds of drinks as well. In the summer the patio is lovely and they often have live music. Robust not only has a delicious feel to the interior of the eatery but it has a wonderful menu with mouth watering selections and a devine wine selection. From flatbread to scallops and shrimp, there is something for everyone here. If you want romance, come here. The lighting and the cozy tables invite you to stare into each other's eyes. Really enjoyed our experience here. The hubby and I were hungry but not hungry at 3:30 on a Saturday. We decided to give Robust a try. So glad we did and why didn't we try sooner?! So much flavor in a quaint little wine bar. We sampled 2 different cheeses and a smoked meat. Wine pairing suggestions were spot on and the cocktail we tried went down way to easy. Someone at Robust Wine Bar in Webster Groves altered my credit card receipt after I paid. While reviewing my card statement, I noticed the discrepancy. I visited for food and beverages last month, December 2022. When I spoke to the manager, Eric, he looked up my receipt number and it was obvious that the tip section had been changed. Over 20 percent had been added, which was still less than my actual tip. The manager did issue a refund for the fraudulent amount, but did not even offer an apology. He said he would "...grab people and get the full story--no worries". Well, I was worried enough to change my credit card number after the refund posted to my account. My wife and friends enjoyed the expanded menu, extensive wine selection, attentive service and warm friendly atmosphere.

We didn't have a reservation when we showed up on a Saturday at Robust, but the owner was incredibly kind and accommodated us in one of the patio tables. The patio has plenty of space to social distance and the food was absolutely incredible. If you like goat cheese, get any of their goat cheese dishes. You wont regret it! Sorry Robust - What's going on? I've been a Robust fan for several years but the service has been getting worse & worse with my last visit taking the biscuit. We had a reservation for 8:15 on the patio. After waiting an hour for the table, people in our group started leaving. We were finally seated 1.5 hours late at 9:45pm. Waitress approaches table, asks if all have been vaccinated and removes mask & ignores diner closest to her who says she hasn't been. Waitress proceeds to tell us, after we've waited 1.5 hours for our table, that we have to hurry up and order NOW because the kitchen closes in 15 minutes. No menus even given yet. Aggravating to be rushed after waiting, but there you go. Party orders food, waitress comes back with drinks & tells us she can't remember who gets what. Comes back with food orders but at least 1 had been forgotten by waitress. The food order never made it to the kitchen, so 1 person went without dinner. Waitress comes back w/2nd round of drinks-states again that 'she doesn't remember who ordered what' then throws everything on 1 bill rather than asking how we'd like to split bill for our large party. Hostess was asked about reservation & seating policy. We were told that diners are allowed approximately 1.5 hrs time at their table. Older Mgr woman/hostess at the door overheard saying 'well, all we can do is wait for people to finish and leave tables" to younger hostess. If our reservation was at 8:15, presumably all the tables we had 'to wait until they left' sat down at 5:30-6:30 & stayed until 9:45 which just didn't happen. Our 8:15 reservation just wasn't honored. Patio must've been seating most tables at 7:30 for it still to be full at 9:45, making an 8:15 reservation impossible. The dark haired bar man w/glasses was charming but our waitress & hostess/seating Mgr failed. Waitress was out of it, 1 dinner order forgotten, reservation wasn't honored & waited 1.5 hours for our table. The night left a bad taste in 15-20 long time regulars' mouths who spend a pretty penny when we go out. The end of the night conversation was that everyone's giving Robust a miss for a while, especially when other close restaurants, such as Olive & Oak, DO honor their reservations & have top notch service, even when busy. Another friend had a similar experience at Robust 2 weeks ago, so something's changed. Robust owner - don't blow the good reputation it took much effort to build by allowing hostesses to blow the reservations/seating & poor wait staff to send your regulars to other restaurants. We are not from the St. Louis area, but we have family here and my daughter attend Wash U. The day after Mother's Day we visited Robust. First I want to say that the waiter was excellent and the small food items that we had tasted fine although they were extremely expensive and tiny. However, we had made reservations for 12 the day before and were celebrating my daughter's graduation. We wanted to have a nice celebration for her accomplishment that included dinner. I understand that the establishment was extremely busy the day before (Mother's Day) but they were out of virtually every entree that would have served as a meal. They had our phone number and email. I reserved both online and by phone. They could have notified us. If they had done so we would have cancelled. Instead we arrived with family and friends coming from multiple directions and there really was no way or time to find another place to go, given that we had all arrived without knowing there was an issue. So we spent 500$ on appetizer type items and drinks, left hungry, went home and ate Mac and cheese. My frustration is that they had adequate time and the ability to notify us that there was no food. Worst of all, my daughter's event was not what our should have been. We tried to make the best of a poor situation, but it was not at all what we anticipated.i tried to contact the establishment several ways to complain and they made no attempt to context us.
