    Excellent cheese selection!

It is Tiki month!! Loved the island vibe and special menu. Thank you to the server for directing our choices based on our pallets and wine selection. The cheese and honey were soooooooo good and those crostini's! More please!! We had the chicken island skewers, garlic steak bites and the best was the pineapple bread pudding!! Wow! 10 out of 10!! I did the work flight and was happy to take home a bottle of the unique wine I enjoyed. What a great way to recreate at home. (I even went next door Straubs to buy triple cream cheese!) Patio is beautiful with live music. Little warm and humid, but very charming in this gorgeous downtown location. If you go during tiki month, dress the part!

1/21/16 - Decided to go to Robust one more time before they close at the end of the month. There are rumors that the restaurant might be acquired by the chef and reopen after some renovations. This unique wine bar restaurant offers various wine selections and some wine combos. I had the Chardonnay flight "Chardonnay or should I go". My favorite Chardonnay was the 2024 Fess Parker with a light oak and a little fruit flavor. Easy drinking and a good mouth feel. My entrée was the beef bourguignon special. It was a velvety beef soup with carrots, potatoes and pearl onions. I added the Robust salad with a champagne vinaigrette mixed with pink peppercorns, Pecorino and Marcona almonds. Everything was delicous and moderately priced. This location was /is a great place to share a good wine and a charcuterie board. Aiden was our server he guided us through our main meal professionally and with courtesy Try to visit before they close. I recommend this restaurant.

Popped in here to get a wine flight and was pleasantly surprised with the holiday pop up, Winter WINEderland. We came on a Wednesday and were seated promptly at the bar. There were two of us in our party and we both wanted to try a wine flight. We first got a red flight and then switched to white. Each flight is equivalent to 1.5 glasses of wine, so it's perfect portion (in my opinion with being able to try 3). We also split the flatbread which was good, I really liked the crust. The decor was nice and festive, definitely a great way to ring in the season. There's a parking lot next to the fro yo spot!

I called in advance to book a reservation for my friend's birthday dinner and asked if they did anything for birthdays. I was told the birthday celebrant could choose bubbly or some form of desert. Cool! I initially made reservations for 5, but one person couldn't make it so I called again to make it for four. Upon arrival, we waited at the host stand for 5 minutes and immediately knew they either didn't put us down (even though I called twice to confirm?) or forgot about us? We were seated in the back by our waitress who was unpleasant from the start. We were given menus and ordered our drinks. The drink I wanted to order wasn't on their last shipment and they only had one of the drinks from that section of the menu available so I figured I would just try that. It was okay and then grew on me toward the end. I don't think it was worth $10 for pressed juice, but hey that's just me. We all put in our food order and the waitress asked if two from our party was sharing, unsure why that was relevant? 20 minutes later our waitress comes back and says they're out of stock of the lobster biscuits and says they only have so much for the weekend... We went on a Friday and it was 6pm. Not sure if someone just screwed up orders, but I've read from previous reviews that they had the same experience. AN HOUR LATER WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR FOOD -- I tried flagging down our waitress because we had plans right after dinner to go to and of course right before I see her an hour and 20 minutes later, our food arrives and is delivered by either the chef or a cook who was much more pleasant and much more welcoming- glad that we were there. Apologized for the delay which we appreciated. We were all still so confused as to what took so long because none of us ordered any entrees, just shareables... * ratatouille * crab cakes * lobster biscuits (sold out) * goat cheese * one of the charcuterie boards It continues... Remember the birthday I was talking about? We weren't leaving without her getting her bubbly so her husband went to find our waitress (couldn't find her- surprise surprise) and so he tried asking another waitress, then our waitress comes up to him and it's supposed to be a secret and she BLURTS OUT within earshot of the birthday girl asking if we wanted to take it to go... no? She asked, "I thought you were in a hurry?" I'm sorry, but it's not our fault that the food took so long. We weren't in a hurry when we got there. So she swings by and says happy birthday in the least amount of happy in her voice as possible. Long story short, it wasn't an enjoyable experience, maybe let customers know what's not available when you seat them, write down reservations, have better customer service. If you're looking to celebrate a special event, don't expect the works here.

One of the best patios in the city! Check their schedule for live music nights. We met the owners when we were there and they are very friendly and accommodating. Order a glass (or better yet bottle) of wine and the charcuterie board and you will be set.

Went here for Galentine's with some ladies from work. Because we were a group of 6, we got complementary champagne, which was such a treat! They had really fun cocktails for Valentine's Day! I had the First Crush and the ice was shaped like a rose. So cute! We got a lot of the shareable trays, including a charcuteries board, whipped Brie (my fave), a flatbread, a hummus dish that was also amazing, and other shareable as well! Our waitress was knowledgeable and kind. All of the staff were extremely helpful. Honestly, just a blast with amazing food and drinks! I've lived in Webster forever and this was my first time! I'll for sure go back! It is a bit pricey, so take that into consideration!

I went to robust for their 28 days of Robust Love and it was so fun! They have delicious signature cocktails with fun names! My friend got cloud nine and it had cotton candy in it and it even lit up. So cute! We had the whipped Brie which was do die for. Then we had shrimp & grits and a chicken flatbread- both delicious. And our server recommended the brown butter cake- it was to die for! The service is always quick and friendly I love going here for a girls night or even a date night. The food is just as amazing as the drinks!

Came here for a Christmas pop up bar with a group of 4 gals. Ambiance was great, but drinks and food did not live up to standards. Ordered a drink and the glass was only about 3/4 full (cost $15), however it did taste good. My friends ordered raspberry pastries that had quite a bitter aftertaste. I wonder if it was because of the holiday pop up, but I was not super impressed with the food/drinks. Decorated well though!

Robust is a great spot for a glass of wine and cheese - recommend sticking to that if you go in. Came for Winter WINEderland and the decor was on point! Poor waitress was running around like crazy, could use a bit more staff. Cocktail was a bit sweet, food nothing special (a bit greasy and basic) but my glass of Pinot was delish. I'll stick to wine on future visits because this is a solid spot for drinks (especially in the summer on the patio)

Came for the Winter Winderland pop-up and it was gorgeous inside! We had made a reservation and were seated promptly. Ordered the snow globe cocktail which was yummy but was very disappointed with the presentation of the cocktails as well as the whipped raspberry Brie pastries. Very likely that it was because of how busy they were that night but disappointing nonetheless

My wife and I stopped by for dinner here on a Saturday evening around 5pm. It was a bit windy outside so we opted to eat in the main area inside. Our server provided excellent service throughout our meal and was especially helpful in helping us pick out wines we would enjoy. While asking her questions about the various Chardonnays, we explained that I prefer "buttery" and my wife prefers "oaky", she went to the bar and came back with a sample pour for each of us. We both loved the wine she had selected for us. We ordered a Cheese Board and Meat Board and enjoyed that with our wine. We noted that a band was setting up to play and wished we could have stayed longer to hear them. After the Cheese/Meat Boards, we split a Croque Madame, which the restaurant kindly split for us. I thought all the food was excellent and we will definitely return to dive further into their menu. Robust Wine Bar is a great choice in a location that has lots of different places and ample free parking.

I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

Parking was relatively convenient--street parking is available, and there's a nearby lot about a block away if needed. Upon arrival, the restaurant immediately gives off a refined, upscale atmosphere that feels well-suited for business dining or a special night out. Service was a standout. The dining room manager handled our group and was engaging, attentive, and polished throughout the evening. Service overall was excellent and well-paced. One logistical quirk worth noting: there is only one restroom on the dining room floor, with additional facilities located downstairs, which felt like a slightly odd setup for an otherwise thoughtfully designed space. As for the food, expectations were set extremely high by the enthusiastic and somewhat over-the-top menu descriptions--phrases along the lines of "the most amazing thing you'll ever taste." Unfortunately, while the food was good, it didn't quite live up to that level of hype. The calamari appetizer and Mayfair salad were both solid and enjoyable. The whole branzino was visually impressive, with the head and tail removed tableside, making for a nice presentation. I did encounter a bone, however, and the accompanying white bean side fell short of expectations--the beans weren't as creamy or flavorful as anticipated. Overall, Madrina delivers a very good dining experience, particularly in terms of service and atmosphere. While the food was good to okay rather than exceptional, it was still enjoyable. With a more measured approach to describing the menu, the experience might feel better aligned with what ultimately arrives at the table.

There was a 20-30 minute wait so we found seats at the bar and ordered cocktails. Very good. Very strong. The Block is a great space. Tall ceilings, warm & inviting, perhaps a little low lighting for us challenged folks, but nice, easy to read menus made up for it. A busser brought us water and shortly behind him was Laura-Beth, (our server) with a big smile and menus. After explaining the menu, specials, and taking our drink orders she left us to think about our choices. The menu is a little limited but includes sandwiches as well as entrees including fish option.. Being a "butcher" restaurant we both opted for the ribeye, medium rare. The steak comes only with fries which I ordered while my date went for whipped potatoes. I also went for a side of spinach. We also split a Block Salad as a starter. Choosing to split the Block Salad was a good idea. It was more than enough for two. It was great version of a chopped salad with fresh greens, bacon, smoked ham, egg, house-smoked cheddar, tomatoes, red onion, dressed with just enough buttermilk dressing. Really enjoyed it and just the right amount of salad. Only criticism is not salt and pepper on the table. Probably by design but disappointing. Next came our steaks and sides. We both ordered medium-rare. Her steak was a little under but close enough. My steak was raw in the center. I should have said something but there wasn't so much it was inedible for me. Better under than over! The seasoned fries were good and the whipped potatoes very good were delicious. The fresh spinach was cooked perfect, but under seasoned. All in all, good sides. We finished with Irish Coffee and vanilla ice cream. Kudos to the staff A special thank you to our server Laura-Beth. You were spot on friendly, courteous, attentive, and made our evening great and not just good. Overall, a good place, A bit expensive but where isn't these days. Well worth a try if you haven't.

Versatile, knows…read morehow to treat yo' self, equally at home in yoga pants, ready for a backwoods adventure or dressed to the nines, and doesn't blink at any version of you that walks through the door. That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

Used to love this place, but today really changed my impression…read more We stopped in for a quick drink on a beautiful Saturday. There were a few open tables, but we were asked to wait by the door while they "got situated." Meanwhile, a walk-in who arrived after us was seated at a table we had been waiting for. When we were finally seated, we were placed in direct sun. I asked if we could move to a shaded table in the corner and was told it was only for parties of three. After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.
