I had the pleasure of going twice this month. Once was on a whim by myself and the final visit was Thursday, the day I found out they'd close after this now-past weekend. One of my fellow Yelpers and I returned for that plum-believable cocktail. And it was plum-believably good with its plum sake, white cranberry juice, rosemary, and prosecco. I love this place. Met with a group of 9 other women. Waitress was amazing and Robust was willing to give us each our own check. The wine list is extensive with other cocktails available as well. Popped in here to get a wine flight and was pleasantly surprised with the holiday pop up, Winter WINEderland. We came on a Wednesday and were seated promptly at the bar. There were two of us in our party and we both wanted to try a wine flight. We first got a red flight and then switched to white. Each flight is equivalent to 1.5 glasses of wine, so it's perfect portion (in my opinion with being able to try 3). We also split the flatbread which was good, I really liked the crust. 1/21/16 - Decided to go to Robust one more time before they close at the end of the month. There are rumors that the restaurant might be acquired by the chef and reopen after some renovations. This unique wine bar restaurant offers various wine selections and some wine combos. I had the Chardonnay flight "Chardonnay or should I go". My favorite Chardonnay was the 2024 Fess Parker with a light oak and a little fruit flavor. Easy drinking and a good mouth feel. My entrée was the beef bourguignon special. It was a velvety beef soup with carrots, potatoes and pearl onions. I added the Robust salad with a champagne vinaigrette mixed with pink peppercorns, Pecorino and Marcona almonds. Everything was delicous and moderately priced. This location was /is a great place to share a good wine and a charcuterie board. I called in advance to book a reservation for my friend's birthday dinner and asked if they did anything for birthdays. I was told the birthday celebrant could choose bubbly or some form of desert. Cool! I initially made reservations for 5, but one person couldn't make it so I called again to make it for four. Upon arrival, we waited at the host stand for 5 minutes and immediately knew they either didn't put us down (even though I called twice to confirm?) or forgot about us? We were seated in the back by our waitress who was unpleasant from the start. We were given menus and ordered our drinks. The drink I wanted to order wasn't on their last shipment and they only had one of the drinks from that section of the menu available so I figured I would just try that. It was okay and then grew on me toward the end. I don't think it was worth $10 for pressed juice, but hey that's just me. We all put in our food order and the waitress asked if two from our party was sharing, unsure why that was relevant? 20 minutes later our waitress comes back and says they're out of stock of the lobster biscuits and says they only have so much for the weekend... We went on a Friday and it was 6pm. Not sure if someone just screwed up orders, but I've read from previous reviews that they had the same experience. AN HOUR LATER WE STILL DON'T HAVE OUR FOOD -- I tried flagging down our waitress because we had plans right after dinner to go to and of course right before I see her an hour and 20 minutes later, our food arrives and is delivered by either the chef or a cook who was much more pleasant and much more welcoming- glad that we were there. Apologized for the delay which we appreciated. We were all still so confused as to what took so long because none of us ordered any entrees, just shareables... * ratatouille * crab cakes * lobster biscuits (sold out) * goat cheese * one of the charcuterie boards It continues... Remember the birthday I was talking about? We weren't leaving without her getting her bubbly so her husband went to find our waitress (couldn't find her- surprise surprise) and so he tried asking another waitress, then our waitress comes up to him and it's supposed to be a secret and she BLURTS OUT within earshot of the birthday girl asking if we wanted to take it to go... no? She asked, "I thought you were in a hurry?" I'm sorry, but it's not our fault that the food took so long. We weren't in a hurry when we got there. So she swings by and says happy birthday in the least amount of happy in her voice as possible. Long story short, it wasn't an enjoyable experience, maybe let customers know what's not available when you seat them, write down reservations, have better customer service. We started with the Baked Goat Cheese. The goat cheese was made with spicy tomato sauce, sherry vinegar, and garlic oil. I was concerned it may be too spicy but it wasn't. I ordered the petite beef tenderloin for my entree. The beef tenderloin was 6oz cooked medium with asparagus, mushrooms, and potatoes. The bad news is the beef tenderloin was not tender which was disappointing. The potatoes were sliced and pressed together and they looked like slices of a biscuit. The potatoes were seasoned well and were delicious. The asparagus and mushrooms were cooked perfectly and complimented the dish nicely. My date ordered the artichoke gratin and had chicken added to the dish. I was amazed at how flavorful it was. The chicken was tender and it was a great addition to the dish. We had an amazing waitress. We had tickets to The Rep so she kept us on schedule. She was helpful and very friendly. This is a fun restaurant and we'll be back. read more

My wife and I stopped by for dinner here on a Saturday evening around 5pm. It was a bit windy outside so we opted to eat in the main area inside. Our server provided excellent service throughout our meal and was especially helpful in helping us pick out wines we would enjoy. While asking her questions about the various Chardonnays, we explained that I prefer "buttery" and my wife prefers "oaky", she went to the bar and came back with a sample pour for each of us. We both loved the wine she had selected for us. We ordered a Cheese Board and Meat Board and enjoyed that with our wine. We noted that a band was setting up to play and wished we could have stayed longer to hear them. After the Cheese/Meat Boards, we split a Croque Madame, which the restaurant kindly split for us. I thought all the food was excellent and we will definitely return to dive further into their menu. I saw a Paella & Wine event on their Instagram. Called them to ask if we need a reservation to sit outside, since the event will be at their outside patio. The answer was outside area is "first come, first serve". If we want to sit inside we will need a reservation. Went there and the greeter told us that we supposed make a reservation from an inside table to be able to sit outside. This is misleading and he wasn't friendly. :) We were a group of 5, sat inside. They cooked Paella in a big pan outside. $16 for a small plate with 1 mussel, 2 small pieces of chicken. Their event menu was showing bunch of other type of meat that we haven't received. We were ready to pay more for more meat. :) Their Spanish wine paired with the Paella was strong and had a little peppery spicy taste $13. That was really delicious. Definitely a dinner and wine restaurant! Each of their menu has a suggested wine pairing, so if you enjoy wine, make sure to ask your server about it. Hot food/dinner plates did take a bit longer to get to us, but tasted fresh and hot. Both the vegetables lasagna and shrimp grits were quite delicious and good for one person. Dining in is limited, but there's plenty of outdoor patio seatings. I'd sit outdoor next time for better attention as it seems that's the area of focus rn. One of my favorite places in Webster Groves! I have had several things off their menu, have sampled their wines, and have enjoyed several evenings at this restaurant. My first visit, I was honestly nervous being that this place had the word "wine bar" in it's name and was worried that my husband would end up having a tea or a water for the lack of adult beverage option. He's not a wine person but surprisingly, they have cocktails and according to him, fantastic ones at that! He loves old fashioned and he proclaimed this place to make one of the best he's ever had! I have tried their flat bread before (margherita), their house salad with pink peppercorn were something different but wonderful, we've shared a charcuterie board during one of our visits and have tried their sea and land entrees. We've never had a disappointing experience here. The food has always been great, wine (and cocktails) always delicious and the service is always friendly and quick. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar area to hang out at. I'm not sure if they're allowing people in the bar area right now as during my last visit, we opted to sit outside. They are adjusting to the COVID situation and are doing their best to ensure their customers and staff are safe. I can't wait to come back. I was having a hard time finding a reservation for 15 people on a Saturday at 1pm to entertain out of town friends during a break from my friend'a wedding. I called Robust and they were very accommodating. They reserved us a table in the back room which accommodated our entire group. We even texted them asking if we could come in early since the wedding ended earlier than we anticipated and they were ready for us. Our server was very attentive and offered a lot of great wine and small plate recommendations. I had the rose wine flight which I've tried before it's so good. I also started with the goat cheese appetizer and had a cup of soup. We ordered all three dessert offerings and shared. I thought the bread pudding was the best but my friends like other options. I got a Groupon for robust wine bar and we decided to have Sunday dinner there. It wasn't really crowded and we got a table immediately.Our server Joshua was very nice and knowledgeable about wine. We really enjoyed the tour which was a flight of three delicious red wines from Europe. We also enjoyed a flight of dessert wines. The food was good, but it was definitely over shadowed by the wines. They were out of the soup of the day and the rice ( we substituted rice with grits , which were delish btw) The dessert flight was also really nice. Though the wine definitely overshadowed the food.
