    Rib Tips one Pound
    Cloyce D.

My preference is to always leave a positive review as I know many entrepreneurs have made sacrifices to realize their dreams to open a restaurant. I truly wanted Robert Earls to be mouthwatering tasty: convenient location, pleasant welcome by staff, picturesque food. Unfortunately, the greens and potato salad were both very salty. I was more disappointed that the rib tips were dry. It's too bad because the sauce was a nice combination of sweetness with a touch of heat. Cooking great ribs is an art, so is the ability to determine the right amount of sauce that covers the ribs. Some of my rib-tips were sauced adequately and some had relatively no sauce. While my experience wasn't the positive experience that I was hoping for, I won't rule out giving it a second chance.

Excellent smoked food. We went for lunch on a weekday and they did not have a wide selection of meats available. They did have ribs and chicken and that is what we ordered. Wow. Soooooo good. Can't say enough about the flavor and smokiness of ribs and chicken. May want to call ahead to see what they have available. Parking is a bit of a chore and you will have to find residential parking surrounding the restaurant. They have very limited seating available. On the weekends there is a line for the food.

Brisket, potato salad, mac and cornbread

I recently tried their BBQ at an event, and it was so good it haunted me until I was compelled to get a plate for myself the next day. While I was able to sample the chicken and brisket at the event, I decided to go for the 1/2 lb brisket plate with two sides. The potato salad is delicious and I couldn't resist the cornbread because somehow it reminded me of Filipino bibingka with its sweetness. I ended up getting two to share, but tbh I will probably eat both myself. While eating it fresh from the smoker at the event is probably the ideal, having it at home and eating it warmed up also tasted good. No complaints. If you're craving some smoked BBQ, Robert Earls is your place. If you have the money and want to make a bunch of people happy (and probably sleepy) have them cater your event. 5/5 stars. PARKING: there is currently (May 2024) heavy construction on Artesia, so find a side street to park in.

Ok I hate to do this but I'm completely disappointed. Whenever I order at Robert Earl's I ALWAYS get the 3 Meat Combo. I don't mind pay for good food, because it is good even now but what I don't like are high prices for less amount or pinches of what use to be. Raise the price if you have to but this really just hurt my hear when I opened my food. Chicken not what I expected and my links were chopped up. They have never done that. The greens were to salty and the baked beans were not sweet... What Happened!??! Ima give it 1 more try and if things are the same? Ima have to teach myself how to bbq.

Our order consisted of four SoCal fries (which are basically buffalo fries from The Buffalo Spot with a drizzle of cheese and ranch), a 10-piece nugget, a small fry, a large order of mozzarella sticks, a Thai tea, and a few sides of sauces. To speak bluntly, the experience turned sour for me as soon as I started placing my phone order. While I was ordering sauces, I was rudely cut off by the man working: "Yeah, yeah, anything else?" I felt like I was being rushed off the phone, even after mentioning it was my first time ordering and kindly asking questions about their sauces. The customer service here just overall gave me the ick. Anyways, onto the food. I was super excited for my SoCal fries. They have a variety of sauces to choose from, and I opted for the spicy BBQ. On first impression I was surprised with the generous portions. I ordered a small Socal fries that looked more like a medium. As soon as I dug into my meal, I was met with immediate disappointment; the popcorn chicken on my SoCal fries was extremely stale. It tasted as if they served us three-day-old fried chicken that had been left sitting out. My siblings and mom also agreed the chicken was super hard. I ended up just eating some of the fries and threw the rest away. Before tossing it, I tried drenching the fries in their Cajun sauce (which is over $1 per sauce, btw), and even though I really wanted to like it, it had a weird aftertaste. On top of that, I just couldn't get past how hard the chicken was. The Thai tea, fries, and mozzarella sticks were just decent. I'd also like to mention that when I was placing my order over the phone, the man said my total was $67 and some change. When I paid in person, the total somehow jumped to $83.69. I assumed that included the Cajun sauces I ordered over the phone, but it actually didn't. I ended up paying a second transaction for the sauces, which was around $8. Had I possibly been charged for the side of attitude I was also served? To reiterate: the service here sucks. Overall, I won't be back as the quality doesn't match prices. You'd think that a joint that specializes in fried chicken and wings would serve fresh chicken but on the contrary, my chicken was inedible, gross, and clearly old. I love supporting local businesses, but I refuse to support a place that exhibits rude customer service and serves subpar frozen food that I could throw together at home. I don't recommend this spot as there are much better establishments in the area.

I was missing a fish fillet, my shrimp was cold, my chicken was burnt but still ice cold, and my fries were so burnt that they were almost black and orange. To top it all off, the restaurant had the audacity to place a balled-up napkin at the bottom of my fries, as if it were supposed to make them look full. This experience was absolutely appalling and I highly do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances.

The standout items were definitely the Spicy Cambodian Dirt wings and the garlic noodles. The wings were crispy and flavorful, tasting like a mild lemon pepper without being too overpowering. Our group of four had a chance to stop by for an early dine-in dinner, and found the chicken to well prepared and tasty. Originally founded in 1976 in Los Angeles by a enterprising franchisee who wanted to create his own fast food brand, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken soon became very popular with LA residents. As sometimes happens with immigrant communities by word of mouth and 'paying it forward', the burgeoning Cambodians began to be the majority owners of franchisees, until it resulted in the brand being sold to a Cambodian in 2009. Considering the largest concentration of Cambodians outside of Cambodia is in Long Beach, California, I wanted to try this particular location. They also sell donuts here, and my credit card bill actually listed the donut shop as the vendor...this for me is not a selling point, but was not noticeable during our visit. It's a walk-up set-up, where you order/pay for your food through security windows. We ordered a 12-piece family combo for $35.45, which included 3 pieces of breast/thigh/wing/leg, 2 small orders of fries, a coleslaw and 6 rolls. They also sell fried catfish and shrimp, so got a 4 pc shrimp ($3.85). They only sell drinks by cans or bottles, so got 4 cans of Coke/Pepsi/Squirt. It is clearly stated that each order is fried fresh, taking about 20 minutes. Our order was ready in 15 minutes, and we decided to dine-in (a small makeshift outdoor dining area with temporary tables was set-up). The chicken was well brined and had been fried well (leaving plenty of space between the chicken), with the outer coat being crunchy with a little bit of spice. For me it tasted very similar to the popular national chain, but with more consistency. The 'small' fries were not that at all, but very large...with one being enough to feed the four of us. The fries looked underdone, but were not. There were no condiments available, so the saving grace was the thin hot sauce that you could dip your fries and chicken into. The rolls were forgettable, and the coleslaw was grocery store quality (which I actually like). In fact, the chicken and sides reminded me of what you could get at a grocery store deli, except always getting the chicken fresh, instead of ones that have been fried too many to a basket and sitting too long under a heat lamp. Freshness definitely matters here. There was plenty of food for the 4 of us, with us taking half of the meal home. It reheated very well, providing us a good lunch the following day.
