The place is beautiful and you would expect the food to match the price and the atmosphere. However, the food is average at best. First of all, the water does not taste good and they need filtered water for the tables. No one at our table could drink the water. Then we waited for an hour to be seated. While we waited we noticed a lot of empty tables. We inquired about them and the front desk said maybe a big party was coming. Finally when we were seated, the same tables were empty. I was expecting the food to blow me away. Three people ordered the prime rib sandwich with aujus. The prime rib was good but the aujus was just grease from the prime rib cooking. The bun wasn't good so we all took the meat off the sandwich and ate it with a fork. The fries were old and cold ( no flavor at all) not even salt. My mom ordered a cookie for dessert and that was really good. Would I go back, yes but not for brunch and would not order that sandwich again. My brothers had the breakfast and it look like a breakfast ( nothing special). My sister had the pizza and she said it was good. Hopefully the dinner menu is better. This place is missing the opportunity for being known for a dish that you can only get there. Also, having signature cocktails would be great. My sister ordered lemonade and she couldn't drink it because it was pure sugar so she tried to use the table water to weaken it and the taste of the water made it worse. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful. It's aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The view overlooking Nickajack is incredible, with its super tall ceiling, and rock fireplace. We checked in promptly for our 5:15 CST reservation, and were seated quickly. McKayla was our server and answered several questions. When she told us she could make the creamed spinach her entire meal, I knew we had to try it. McKayla made our dining experience extra special with her service, friendliness, and great attitude. All of the servers there were busy, as well as the Management. I read some mixed reviews on this place before coming, and all I can say is, I'm glad I didn't let that influence my decision to try this place. Firstly, the view overlooking Nickerjack Lake is spectacular! The restaurant itself is gorgeous and well appointed. We had dinner outside on this beautiful spring evening. I started with one of their craft beers, a West Coast, IPA, and it was delicious. For dinner, I started with a pre-entrée house salad and it was absolutely wonderful. For my entrée, I had the bison fillet. It was delivered cooked as I preferred, and it was really good, but I preferred the beef fillet that my wife had as it was a bit more tender and juicy. For sides, I had the ratatouille, which was fantastic and the star of the show! I'd come back to this restaurant just for this! Also had a twice baked potato, which was a very tasty accompaniment. Service was hit and miss, with a little more miss. Our entrées were delivered before we finished our salads. And the table top was so small that there was not enough room for everything. we had also ordered bread and butter with the meal and twice mentioned was never brought. She was also bringing us another round of drinks when we didn't ask for them. And she didn't. Settings after we finish the meals. Once asked, she removed a few settings and then we didn't see her again for 15 minutes and I had to ask her to remove the rest of the dirty dishes before ordering our dessert. I had the banana cream pie for dessert and it was a unique version, more like a banana cream cheesecake. It was a small sliver, which was fine because it wasn't that great. Easy to break this place down. View is top notch. The ambiance and the setting is truly amazing. Set on top of the mountains with the river in the background it's a must see but maybe only for a drink(beer). I say beer because the bartenders don't exactly know how to make cocktails. First found we ordered old fashioneds which came with the right glasses but filled with ice cubes and tasted watered down. I went ahead and orders a rye manhattan. It came in a lowball glass with large cube liked you'd get in an old fashioned. It tasted like an actual good old fashioned. Both were garnished the same exact way. Put it simply, the bartenders do not know how to make proper drinks . The food was mediocre. Pay 9 bucks for bread , 20 for a chicken sandwich, the filet was awful, wife didn't like the chicken piccata. All in all , you can't beat the view, it's a whole thing. That being said the food , the service and drinks are far from praiseworthy. Bartenders really need to learn how to make proper cocktails. Before starting, realize this is a high end restaurant, as far as pricing goes. So my rating is based on a $100+/person restaurant and not Golden Corral. This place is beautiful. It sits on the top of a large hill with an excellent view of the valley. The decor is nice and every seat can see out of the windows. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She needs a bit of polish for this level of restaurant, but no complaints. First visit late at night. But extremely busy the second time (drinks only). Of the items we had, the shrimp and mushroom were the best part of the meal. Shrimp cooked ro perfection, soft but firm, with good caramelization. Mushroom has a great marinade and could sub for meat for a vegan. They are a craft brewery, and the beer is about average for the style. The Kolsch was the star night one. The West Coast IPA was on point for the style. Hazy very lemongrass in nature and a bit green (a bit more time in the bright tank or keg would fix this). Amber has a nice roasted caramel malt and the oatmeal stout has a nice mouthfeel and roast. As it was later the first time, we decided to split a meal and grab starters (all pictured). Caesar salad was rather bland. Mostly lemon, very little fat to carry the flavor and you had to do a deep hunt for any hint of garlic. Not sure if late at night affected this ir not. If so, better training is in order, as a $16 small salad should really shine. French onion tasted more like a very light beef stock with a splash of wine rather than the rich flavor you would normally see at this class of restaurant. Cheese was nicely carmalized, which helped and nice choice of bread. For dinner, we split a bison ribeye. Overall, this was a train wreck. The cut was very strange and the meat was sinewy. Cooked correctly, but clearly not rested and placed on a cold steel plate. Hope this was a late night faux pas and not the norm, as this could kill the place. We ended with dessert to go, which came out, with the leftovers, in a bag that was stapled shut ... no silverware. And forgot to take Pic of the desserts in the room and only the key lime, as it was the more palatable. The cheesecake was overly whipped to the point it had the texture of cool whip in your mouth when it disentigrated. The key lime pie was better, specifically the middle, but the choice of topping with a gelatiny type with little flavor was a miss. Both were eye appealing. I hope they can get this in order, as the place is beautiful. My gut is they need a consultant to come in and hone the rough edges, as the place does attract a crowd. But all new places do (opened a bit over a month ago) and if others get a similar experience, it could ruin them. I will give them time before trying again, but will definitely send things back if they are still strumming this same guitar note and write this place off for anything beyond drinks. read more

What a beautiful place! We luckily got in early on a Friday night... as they're in Central Time Zone and we drove from Chattanooga. We had the perfect high top table outside but covered and had an incredible view of the mountains. Our server Germaine was just the best... made great recommendations and was checking on us throughout the night. We had old fashions and wines with nice bread and whipped butter to start. Onto Tuscan Green Dip made with artichokes and cheese... yummy. We ordered our meals. Husband had the meaty Bolognese, which he loved... a big plate full for a hungry man. I ordered Crab Cakes from the App menu, a side of Sweet potato soufflé with a Wedge Salad. Ofcourse we had to try a dessert, so we opted for the Banana Cream Pie. MaKayla gave solid recommendations and was so kind and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with her about the craft cocktails available. The winner for me was the charcuterie board. Everything was delicious. I got the filet and my husband the ribeye. He said his steak was so delicious he didn't use steak sauce. I felt my filet could have used a little more seasoning. The creamed spinach and twice baked potato were both yummy. And for dessert I had the espresso martini. It's a heavy pour. We had a wonderful experience here and would absolutely recommend it. We started with the oysters, which were very fresh and delicious. The only small note is that it would be nice if they used a lemon net or strainer so the seeds don't fall into the oysters--but honestly, that didn't take away from how fresh they were. Our server, Brooke, was very alternative in the best way--friendly, attentive, and brought great energy to the table. The manager, Teresa, was also incredibly polite, welcoming, and made us feel genuinely appreciated. The hospitality really stood out. The restaurant itself is spotless and well maintained. For entrées, we ordered the bison ribeye and the center-cut filet, and both were cooked perfectly. For sides, we had the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and macaroni and cheese. I definitely recommend the creamed spinach and the mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was good, though in my opinion, slightly smaller noodles would help hold the cheese better--but overall, no real complaints. The location is stunning. This will keep people coming. If the food/service was associated with a less stunning place I'm afraid they'd be in a lot of trouble. The food was underwhelming. I got the garden harvest bowl. The pilaf was clumpy, ratatouille was a wet mess, and the cucumber chips almost felt stale and made it hard to chew with the rest of the mix. Steer clear of this dish. My wife had the bolognese. She had to remove a few piece from her mouth to a napkin as it was impossible to chew. Service was ... well... odd. I won't go beyond that. River. It was a beautiful place. We went during brunch not knowing if it was an expensive place. We all had more than we could eat. The service was excellent. We decided to travel out to Guild and try this new restaurant for my fiancé's birthday. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. We were offered a booth by the window and witnessed a beautiful sunset. Our waitress was pleasant and sweet, but extremely unpolished. That seemed to be an overall trend with the staff. Lack of awareness regarding drinks and not clearing the table of dishes between courses was inconvenient, but not the end of the world. I would highly recommend that they implement water filtration of some sort as the tap water used for drinking was unpleasant. With this being our first time at Riverdance, we opted to try several different items on the menu. The waitress emphasized fresh and imported ingredients, so we had high hopes. You can see the impressive pizza oven from the dining room, so I was really looking forward to some amazing slices. Unfortunately, that was disappointing as well. If the pizza had been decent I would have ignored how it was abominably sliced. Much better options at Pizza Cortile, Wooden City and Cesario's back towards Chattanooga. Other items ordered were the burnt ends, burrata and tomatoes, rigatoni bolognese, broiled oysters, side of Mac and cheese and the cheesecake. All subpar. The only reason I'm bothering to give a review is that the obvious goal of this restaurant is to offer an elevated dining experience. If they put as much effort into quality, flavor, presentation of dishes and staff preparedness as they have the grounds and buildings, then this would indeed be something special. We'll give this one more shot in a few months in hopes that these are just growing pains. read more

We went for dinner Saturday night and I made a reservation- you can ask to sit inside or out. The view outside is gorgeous of course overlooking the river and the drive up the mountain is switchbacks but not bad at all. The inside is beautifully designed. The menu has a great range of prices. A lot of people seemed to order the sliders and we will order those and the truffle fries when we go back, along with the seafood Mac and cheese but we didn't get those this time! Parker was our server and he was excellent and very attentive. Every dish was delicious! Perfect for a nice meal with friends or a special occasion. The event space isn't open yet but excited to go back soon when it is to see it and the lawn area on the far end. A note- put in Riverdance restaurant into your gps, not River Gorge Ranch or it will take you to the office, which is on the other side of the interstate exit. The crab cake appetizer was my favorite but my husband loved the ribeye eggrolls. All of the cocktails were great. The ambiance is unparalleled, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. However, we were there and the bar back came in looking kind of disheveled in a T-shirt that looked like he just crawled out of bed with. The staff was not very attentive they were more focused on talking amongst themselves and seeing if we needed anything. We had the burnt ends which was saturated in a yucky barbecue sauce that they probably just poured out of the bottle. I can't speak for the rest of the food there but if you just want have a nice cocktail with a fabulous view go for it. They are very very expensive. read more

After buying a lot in River Gorge Ranch, we watched Riverdance's construction both in person during visits and on YouTube. We were so excited to hear that it opened just prior to our holiday visit. Upon arrival at the restaurant, you can see that they're still finishing up some of the landscaping, but that did little if anything to diminish the experience. And it was fun to see the developer, Mr. John "Thunder" Thornton there as well (I think I'd be there every day, too, if I could). Our Christmas Eve lunch was amazing. Wonderful, attentive service and everything prepared and seasoned perfectly - from the fresh bread and butter, to the truffle fries, burger, pizza, and fried chicken sandwich. Oh, and I'm praying they keep making the oatmeal stout. I was told that the stout was brought in from their sister brewery, Top of The Rock, because the Riverdance brewery isn't yet operational. (We went to TOTR for lunch a couple of days later and were told they are sadly no longer making the oatmeal stout). I highly recommend Riverdance for any and all occasions. Even just for a cocktail and the view, but it would be a shame to miss the full dining experience. We will definitely be back again before we head home. The only question is, what to try next? Can't wait! 12/28 update: went back for Sunday lunch and unfortunately the menu was fairly limited to brunch. Again, everything was quite good. Radish salad was very fresh with a nice subtle lemon flavor. The rest of the brunch selections were basic staples and nothing fancy, but all well prepared and fresh... Turkey croissant sandwich, Caesar salad, scrambled eggs, biscuit, bacon, sausage and side of gravy. And once again, service was stellar. read more

The view is nice. The drinks are not worth the price. I am a cheap date. I normally would say I can't drive after one drink. I had two drinks and wouldn't have any hesitation getting behind the wheel. The steaks we ordered were over cooked. They were cooked again, but this time a little under the requested cook. The creamed spinach was nice with a little lemon zest. The restaurant comped our steaks and offered a free dessert. The steaks themselves didn't have much flavor and are not prime cuts of beef. The seasoning on the steaks was nice. I chose the banana pie to go. I should have chosen a different dessert. We live nearby and will probably try again next year. Absolutely gorgeous view and restaurant, but the food was mediocre and way too salty! I ordered the zucchini chips appetizer, and what I received was overly dry zucchini chips (think potato chips) that tasted as if they were stored and served in pure salt. These were comped because they were totally inedible, which did make me question the waitress's judgment since she said they were good. The chicken piccata was very good, but also too salty. I had a headache all evening, so don't come here if you're looking for a heart healthy meal. A friend had broiled oysters and they were good and she liked her steak. Our waitress was friendly and she tried to do a very good job, but was a bit unpolished. We had also booked a window table inside, and they tried to sit us outside in the cold, twenty minutes past our reservation time, even though we arrived early for our reservation and there were multiple window seats available. In summary, possibly the prettiest views in Tennessee, but it's trying to be a fine dining experience with fine dining prices, but average to below average food and service. I imagine this establishment might have trouble recruiting experienced chefs and wait staff because of its distance from Chattanooga. I do think I'll give it another try in a month or two, but maybe see if they do brunch better I would have to give this place two for the food, three or four for the staff... Our waitress was nice... But 5+ for the view! Maybe even a 10 on a five point scale for the view! read more
