Came in and we were seated right away. The restaurant is cute, clean, and well decorated. Ordered drinks within a few minutes. We made a small modification to one of the drinks (asked for it with no mint), drinks took longer than expected and the modified one came with mint in it, but no big deal, picked it out. Well, we should have considered it a big deal because it was an omen of what was to come. We ordered three dishes: chicken caprese melt sandwich with side Caesar salad ($3) and French fries ($3), and sweet chili salmon ("oven roasted Atlantic salmon, glazed with a sweet and tangy chili sauce") with a choice of side salad- the menu said it came with dinner vegetables as well. We also ordered the Asian Style Pork Belly to start. Waitress came back about 10-15 mins later to tell us there was no more pork belly, so we ordered Portuguese Fried Calamari instead. Fried Calamari was good, tasty. Everything else was disappointing. Salads came out at the same time as the entrees, which was unusual, but we rolled with it. Both were fine- nothing to write home about. The dishes came out completely unexpected. The salmon was plain (no glaze/sauce) and overcooked with mealy, unflavored potatoes and boxed rice pilaf on the side. When we brought it up to the waitress, she said she put in the right order with the kitchen and it "was made as it typically is" (it definitely did not have the advertised chili glaze), when we questioned the sides she turned it on us and said "oh you wanted chef's choice vegetables. I'll get some for you". Firstly, the menu says it comes default with a dinner vegetable. And spoiler alert, we never ended up getting them. The sandwich was edible, but missing tomato and the bread was soggy. In the end, we were also overcharged $1 for the fries, which were actually good. Too much discrepancy between the menu and what was served. Safe to say we will not be going back and we will not be recommending this restaurant to any of our friends. read more

They offer delicious food, my husband who is hot dog obsessed still rants about how incredible their home made ones are, the Mac and cheese also is delicious!! The desserts are also very upscale. Have tried this place plenty enough times and it has gone down hill slowly over time . It was pretty good in the beginning but as of late the food is always over cooked or just not very good and over priced with a bunch of extra fees . We've eaten in restaurant and done take out at times too . The take out is worse because they never get it right and the fees are ridiculous . Not to mention the food is never on point. I've had things that were decent at one point then another time were awful. So definitely not consistent. Waitresses great but back staff not too friendly( too big for their britches for a small restaurant in Vt) you're not some fancy chefs in manhattan. I'm not sure how they get away with charging the prices they do at this place, for the kind of mediocre food served . Definitely need to go back to the beginning. But we are done with this place , the subpar food and prices not meant for a place like this . read more

The servers were extremely pleasant and efficient and seemed to know when we were ready for them. They accommodated families nicely, moving chairs etc. even though the dining area is small. Food was surprisingly good! The ciabatta rolls were extremely fresh and my vegetarian burger was the best I've had in awhile. My husband bruschetta flatbread was exactly as he imagined. There were two negatives: 1. The dining room was cold because of the door opening and closing to admit guests. Installing a temporary portico with a space heater might solve this for the winter as the parking lot is adjacent to this entrance. 2. While service fees are common these days when using credit cards, none of us remembered seeing this posted. This plus the meals tax (which we were expecting) added over 10% to each menu item. read more

RRE is a small restaurant/pub with a small bar area. The exterior and interior appeared to be clean and neat. There are 2 large good picture quality TV's on the wall for sports watching. On the night of our visit it was relatively quiet. The area is primarily a ski area with Stratton and several other ski mountains close by. This time of year is known as stick season as the leaf peeping crowds are gone and skiing has yet to begin. We were advised we could sit where ever we wanted. Our waitress was quick to take our drink order and returned with the drinks promptly. We ordered cod bites, boneless wings and an order of Korean wings. The cod bites were good but appeared to be a deep fried commercially prepared appetizer. The wings were of the same caliber. Good tasting but most likely a commercially prepared product. Nothing bad and nothing exceptional. 2 of us got chicken sandwiches and 1 got the barbecue chicken flatbread. 1 of the chicken sandwiches was a BLT chicken sandwich and the other was a chicken sandwich deluxe with bacon added. The chicken sandwiches were served on a toasted ciabatta roll with mayo on the side. We thought the chicken sandwiches were good and the bacon had a nice flavor to it. All were served with house made potato chips. All in all the dining experience was average and nothing exceptional to make it memorable. RRE prices were not outrageous and by today's standards more like average. This should be considered a good thing as being in a ski area having a good time can be expensive. This may be an option for someone wishing to eat off the mountain. read more

Had a private event there last night under the new chef. Everything was great! The appetizers were delicious along with all our meals. Our servers were so good especially keeping all our bar tabs separate! The bar itself is a little small but didn't affect us. Drinks were all tasty, although as pricey as the mountain. Can't wait to go back and try out their new menu. read more

Finally got around to trying River Road Eatery for the first time this past weekend and it instantly became a new staple when I'm in the area. The place itself is beautiful and very comfortable and relaxing, and the food (burgers this time) were awesome. The staff was also very attentive and professional and welcoming. New pizza place and we were excited to try it. Ordered our first pizza and we were beyond disappointed. We ordered half pepperoni and half sausage (each on their own half so 1 full topping) they charged us for 2 full toppings at $5 each. They also added a 5% takeout fee. The pizza was small in size (did not come close to filling the box) and the total for one "large" not large pie was $35. We will not be returning to this place. read more
