Stopped here for lunch while in Manchester. It was a great little find tucked off the main street. They were busy with both locals and tourists. Service was quick and friendly. The food was fresh, using local ingredients which I love. I got the Brussels Caesar Salad and I appreciated the twist on a basic Caesar Salad. They have lots on their menu to choose from. I love to support locally owned businesses when I can, but I was overall not impressed with Road Runner. The staff were really nice, but we waited well over 30 minutes for our food. If I could rate everything out of 5, the mac & cheese was a 2- it was creamy but there really wasn't any flavor, the pimento cheese fries a 3 because they were a bit more on the soggy end. Regular fries would be much better because the fries themselves were really nice and crisp... But the pimento itself wasn't good enough to be a great addition to the fries. The chicken however was definitely a 4. It was nice and juicy with just the right about of crunch. And I did like the overall ambiance. There's plenty of space inside to sit down, but a really nice outside section as well with umbrellas over the tables for shade. However, given the price ($45 total for what's shown in the picture), I don't think it is worth the return. read more

My mom and I have driven to Vermont once a week lately to explore this area. We've eaten here each time. So far, we've tried- chicken wings, fries, Mac and cheese, pork dumplings, the burger, and the roast pork sandwich. We love sitting outside and having a nice lunch- there are shops around this little courtyard type area and the outdoor tables from the restaurant have umbrellas. There are also indoor tables. The menu is not huge but we were both easily able to find a couple things we would order. Service has been friendly as well. We especially love the fries. The dumplings were a bit doughy. I thought the pork sandwich was really good. I want to try the fried chicken or the lunchbox meal and my mom wants a salad on a future visit. read more

Wow....just wow. Everything was perfect. 5 Giant stars. 9 thumbs up. The Ceasar salad was the best I have ever eaten, and I consider myself a Ceasar salad snob, a CC conesuier if you will. The fresh peas delicately mixed with the pork lardons and crushed romano crotons were sheer bliss. I will never forget this salad as it now rules as my gold standard. We wanted to hug the chef. Everything tasted like it was scratch made with love using fresh seasonal ingredients; this includes the pork dumplings which you must try during your lifetime!! I could drink that sauce. I usually take pictures of the food but it was devoured in what seemed like seconds. Staff was super friendly and very good at their jobs. When you are looking for the place remember that it is tucked away, bordering on hidden, so look up directions because Waze won't bring you right in front of the place. Great for lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and choose a table. Very efficient system. Can't wait to return for the burgers (Vermonters call them 'meat pattys') with fried green tomatoes! Kudos. We stopped in for lunch after it was recommended to us by someone at the Orvis outlet. An upside to this selection is that they share a parking lot in what is a busy downtown Manchester area. The menu offered a choice of sandwiches and salads. The person who recommended Road Runner mentioned the fries are particularly good and the person who took our order said they are known for their chicken sandwiches. These two recommendations made choosing our lunch easy. We both had the fried chicken sandwich and we split an order of one of the specialty fries -- pimento cheese. We choose to sit inside though they have a nice outdoor seating area. The sandwich was good! It was fried chicken and Brussel sprout slaw with a side of pickled vegetables. I really enjoyed the pickled vegetables (onions, carrots and cucumbers). The fries were good too. Overall if you are in Manchester, give Road Runner a try. read more

Third visit today for lunch. A pouring rain end-of-September Wednesday. Food was as excellent as we remembered from our first two visits. Quick service. I had the lunch box (choice of 3 proteins or sweet potato fries as a veg option) and hubby had the OKOB burger. Both flavorful and delicious!! My Peruvian chicken had a sauce which packed a bit of heat (I loved it, but just FYI). We ordered some fried chicken thighs to go, one Southern Princess and one Nashville Hot. We hit the road and ate the chicken cold on fresh bread when we arrived at our destination--this is some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten! Cold on a roll as a sandwich IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, not greasy. A sign of quality. The coating spice blend was *chef's kiss*. And this may seem like a weird compliment, but...the chicken meat tasted sooooo good: it has a great chicken flavor. I'm guessing it is a locally raised bird (not that factory-farmed Tyson crap). Such a great find tucked away in this plaza! The food is all scratch made and so fresh. I had a special - "That Ain't No Caesar Salad" with roasted Peruvian chicken and it was AMAZING! I got the specialty chicken sandwich, which was delicious, da hubs got the Oklahoma Onion Burger (OKOB) and we shared the pimento cheese fries. We barely got through half the fries - seriously generous portion. I accidentally ordered a second chicken breast by mistake and the server offered to take it off our bill with no fuss. If we didn't live 3+ hours away i gladly would have taken it home with me! Bathroom was clean and service was friendly. Best roast pork I've had outside of Philly. Period. Great sandwich shop that has fast service and a quiet vibe. Came here on the way to a gig and myself and my whole cohort really enjoyed our time here. My friend also got the roast pork and we had the same reaction when we bit: "OH WOW." Perfectly roasted pork with a sharp provolone and broccoli rabe, it was a true treat. The fried chicken sandwich also looked insanely good and my friend who ordered it was quite happy with the heat on it too. Love the little side of pickled vegetables as they provided some nice brine to cut through some of the richness. The bread was soft and cradled the contents well, a thoroughly composed sandwich! This place is INSANELY good!! We were so excited to try this place and it really surpassed expectations. I ordered the burger and my husband got the hot chicken meal with mac and cheese. He also took a bite of my burger and decided to order one for himself as well. The burger was easily one of the best burgers I've had anywhere. Everything about it was delicious. Very messy but so worth it! Also the pickled vegetables it came with were so good! My husband's hot chicken had very unique flavors and whatever spices they used for it were exceptional and the mac and cheese was great. It's hidden inside a strip mall, but well worth the exploration to find it. The beef sandwich was juicy and a unique balance of juicy beef. The hamburger was especially good.
