I was so excited to go here... but unfortunately will never be back. We came with a party of 9 ladies for a bachelorette party. The reservation was made weeks in advance, however once we got there they refused to serve us. The waitress stated that they do not serve people under 25 without a NY ID (6 out of 9 of us were 24+, others were 22). We asked why we were not told this when making a reservation and they said it is posted on their website (it is absolutely not). We asked to speak with a manager who said that the rule is posted on their door.... again, it is absolutely not. We asked to have out IDs scanned and show second forms because it was a bachelorette party and we were looking forward to dining here and were all over 21. The manager refused and when I politely asked for further explanation she yelled "YOU NEED TO RELAX". We of course knew then that this was not a place we would ever give our business to. I highly advise going elsewhere. I have worked in the service industry for 7 years and never once have heard a manager speak to a group of people like that (let alone young women including a BRIDE TO BE). This is becoming one of my favorite spots in Peekskill especially during the summer months. You can eat inside or eat outside and enjoy the beautiful views of the Hudson River. By far the best view for any restaurant in Peekskill. On weekends they regularly have live music and entertainment. A buddy of mine and I have been here several times now and we've always had an enjoyable experience. The outside seating area can get packed on the weekends especially if there is live music and wait times can be long. But overall, it should be expected as its a popular and happening spot! The food menu is great with a nice selection of pizzas, burgers, wings, chips and dips.. what you would normally find in a brewpub type of establishment. If you want finer dining then head upstairs to Fin & Brew, a seafood restaurant housed in the same facility. Oh, and did I mention this is a brewery?! They have a great selection of beers brewed on-site! I try a different beer every time I come here. If you like IPAs then definitely check out their session IPA, the Skippa's Sippa. I wished they'd bottle it so I can take home a 6-pack. So definitely check out River Outpost Brewing Co. the next time you are in the Peekskill area. read more

"Holy Dead River Batman!" The second I walked into this place I thought, "Dave & Busters!" It's like a mini version of D&B and I'm not entirely sure I'd come out my way to visit this place. I was only at this place for a friends gathering and I really can't complain about the place. I didn't indulge in their home brews instead opting for the classic corona bottle and the food was average at best. I got some fries to line the tummy so that I didn't get drunk on my empty stomach and fries were decent; not terrible but not amazing either. Half the place is lined with arcades for kids/adults, they had a live band during my visit but I'm not sure if that's the norm and just outside a door near the bar they had what looked like an obstacle course (not sure how much it cost). Overall it seems like a decent spot to hang out and in my opinion it's "family oriented" in now way an adults only type bar. I miss the good old days of the chain "Jillians" that was a Dave & Buster type business but after 9pm it was adults only into the late night. read more

I had a few pints. First beer was the Big Entrance a IPA. There description was hazy and dry hopped with modest bitterness. It was not hazy or bitter. It was not horrible but I was very disappointed. Nothing like enjoying my wings and beer next to an open mouth 6-year old. This place was..not as advertised. I scoured reviews and their website before booking a reservation for myself and three other young adults. In order to get to the actual "brewery," one must walk through a Chuckie Cheese like environment before being seated by a very nice hostess at a wobbly high top next to a family with six children. There were literally children sitting at the bar. Children everywhere. More children than adults by a long shot. Tons of loud arcade games to go along with all of those children. Totally bizarre when compared to the website. Food was decent. Burger was well seasoned. Took so long to get out mozzarella sticks that we canceled the order. Our waiter was nice. Bathrooms were unacceptable. The bizarre ambiance was so off putting that we will probably never come back. read more

Had the chance to dine here with a friend for lunch on our short escape out of the city last Saturday. We were looking for a spot with a good beer selection, great views, and of course, adherence to social distancing rules. This place hit all those marks and by the end of our time we here we were happy to have stumbled into river outpost. I ordered the fiery coast IPA ($6) and the BBQ pork sandwich ($13) which came with a side of fries. Both items were great! This IPA was hoppy and light. The BBQ sandwich was a massive portion and prepared with fresh ingredients. The restaurant itself is mostly situated outside so they were able to spread tables and chairs six feet apart so we felt safe dining there during these COVID-19 times. I don't normally write these type of reviews, but I am absolutely furious! We had BBQ dinner plans for Father's Day, but since the weather was so beautiful, we decided to go for a walk in the early afternoon from Peekskill along the river front and ended up by the marina, so we decided to stop for some drinks and appetizers. The hostess at the podium was very condescending when we asked for a table and told her we didn't have reservations (even though there were a lot of empty tables). She placed us at a table with no umbrella and when we asked if we could have one with an umbrella she said those are only for the people with reservations. :-/ So we were seated directly in the hot sun. Okay....so then we put in our drink and food orders. They were out of the beer my husband wanted on tap so he chose something else and was brought the wrong beer. We couldn't even let the waiter know because we didn't see him again until an hour later when he appeared at our table to apologize and tell us our food was running late and it would be awhile longer. Now, I realize restaurants get busy, but a pizza and one appetizer should NOT take an over an hour! At this point we were baking in the hot sun for sixty minutes already even though there were empty tables with umbrellas the entire time we were there. We were starving, sunburnt, and cranky and absolutely DONE, so we cancelled our order and paid the bill for the drinks and left. What a terrible experience! Thanks a lot for ruining my husband's Father's Day! Also, as we were leaving we heard the table next to us complaining that they never got their appetizers or their kids orders, only the adult food came out. The food menu is very diverse (fish, seafood appetizers, salad, pizza, sandwiches) and prices are reasonable. The best part of River Outpost is its riverfront ambiance. The beer is pretty good. The food isn't great. We had the pork nachos, and it seemed to be covered in Cheese Whiz. Many people were ordering pizza. That may be the way to go. We sat at an outdoor table near the bar. The view was beautiful, but the music was really bad and really loud. We had to yell to hear each other. They may have been trying to drown out the noise from the waste incineration plant next door or the music from the wedding upstairs. I wish they would lower the volume and play reggae music instead--or even some cool tiki bar music. That would be awesome. The restrooms were disgusting, but that may not be the staff's fault. The beers are mostly good, but the service sucks. The place is very understaffed all five times I've been there this far. The food is a bit pricey, but the beeteroni pizza was delicious, I just think that waiting 20 minutes for another beer is unreasonable. The environment and concept are phenomenal. Being inside an arcade with Amusements is great. This past weekend marked the first time that the Hudson Creamery's ice cream stand was there...now they just need to hire more people and have a more welcoming smoking area. Also had the Wings (standard, nice crisp exterior), Irish Nachos (massive portion--I'd recommend for 3 or more ppl to split) and the Brussels Sprouts (these were my favorite, done perfectly and tossed in a Kung Pao sauce). The beer selection was great (we both tried several of their local brews). We always look forward to a special date night here at River Outpost. Went August 2019 and August 2020 after hiking in the area. We absolutely love it here. All the beers we tried were excellent, last year tried some IPAs and Sours, this year we were hooked on the SAL (smoked amber lager). Highly recommend the Mexican street corn and the filet mignon salad, it literally melts in your mouth. The service is always great and the views and experience from the patio at sunset are one of a kind. Can't wait to go back again! read more

Not a night before thanksgiving bar. Just avoid it. The draw for this place is 100% the games, outdoor seating option, live music, and view. Do not go for a big drinking night! We went to meet a friend that flew into town thinking that it will be a normal night of fun. No. The games closed early and a dj moved in to the center of the activities. The kitchen closed... but the seating and bar tables remained in place! No games? No food? Then why were there tables and chairs? Who was in charge of set up? It was so dangerous, there were 2 maybe 3 bartenders and the crowd has a crush mentality. Everyone is pushing forward on the person in front of them. If that was a concert I would have left. It was scary and security didn't do anything. To ebb the massive crowd to the bar. They needed a second bar or a second exit or something. It made me realize that the games are how they control the crowd on a normal night. Do not go on the night before thanksgiving. It's dangerous. The space was not big enough and was not crowd friendly. They need to move the tables and chairs out of the way and they need to leave the games on so that it disperses the crowd. I was happy to leave. We all went to a friends instead to talk catch up and safely go home. A normal weekend is a great and highly recommended. Tonight is not. read more

I will update this review when the changes are made, because as a venue, the place is top notch. Having said that, I had to bring up the quality of some of the food, mainly the kale salad. We went here last year and the salad was excellent. That has changed however (I assume my comments are similar for all salads). The salad, which is $16 if you add chicken, is embarrassingly small. The amount of chicken they add, is similarly embarrassingly limited. The kale, which is supposed to be "massaged", is hard and rough. I'm not sure what happened between last year and this year, but I would seriously make sure the salads are completely revamped. If I order a $16 salad, it should be a meal, not a side dish that's slapped together. Not everyone wants to have pizzas and burgers. read more

I really love this place. They always have great beers on draft and tasty menu options. They get pretty busy on the weekends. I went yesterday, it was packed but the host quickly cleaned a table for us. We had the smoked wings which were seasoned really good and the burger, which was cooked perfectly. The space looks like a set from "Hook" (1991) with a nautical themed adult jungle gym. I didn't see any corn hole. The staff we encountered were very sweet, it's 80% teens running this place. Prepare for bad reggae covers to accompany the barely edible bar food. They refer to hot dogs as "dirty water dogs" on the menu. We ordered a fried chicken sandwich (to be safe) and my S.O., with notoriously low brow food tastes, called it "one of the worst meals in a long time." The bathrooms were totally unacceptable. They seem to have been lifted from a Brooklyn Gulf station and dropped into this new development. How mysterious! There's a fancy version of the same place upstairs with better looking food at a higher price point ($$$). I forgot to mention we're in a mall named after America's Most Wanted's John Walsh. Good LORD. The beer selection first. River Outpost offer a great selection of beers, from reds to a delicious corn based prohibition lager. It's a more varied selection than the usual death-by-IPA of most craft breweries, although of course there's a couple on offer if you want. The food is other-worldly good. The beer cheese Irish nachos in particular are incredible. Is it legal to marry beer cheese? The wings are great, service is friendly and in the summer the deck area welcoming and beautiful. To start with, the place is hard to find, it gives an address as 5 John Walsh Blvd., but there is no number 5 or business to be found once you get there. The street sign does not list it either. Being the only place lit up on a Sunday evening in the vicinity, I eventually found it inside the Factoria Building. Only once you are in the building will you see the sign, many of them. But then you need to go past the fin and fish place and the arcade games in order to find it. It's a big long bar and a large number of tables, which were over percent empty at 7 pm on a Sunday. Very noisy, because of the music and arcades adjacent. My reservation was confirmed for 7, place open till 8, but when I got there, they said the kitchen closed at 7 but they'd wait for me. No thank you, not my idea of a no-rush Sunday dinner. read more

Without updating their website or posting a simple sign out front, the Hostess said, " we are not seating anymore tables because we are closing for a special event later today" ......Really, like WTF? It's a Saturday, normally a busy day for any restaurant, why not post a simple sign outside to keep people from parking and coming in over and over just to get turned away. Ended our Sunday day-trip out of the city with a visit to River Outpost Brewing Co. The brewery is a key part of this awesome entertainment complex on the water, but the food and beers were just not that great. Quality: River Outpost Brewing Co. is part of a massive complex that combines a brewery with restaurant and entertainment complex. It is a bit like a Dave & Buster's with their own beer. During our visit we tried four of the beers on draft, Gossip Shopp Sour Ale, Skillbilly NE IPA, Bamboo Door Herbal Gose, and Peekstone Pilsner. All of the beers were fine, with the Gossip Shopp Sour Ale as my favorite of the bunch, but none worth making a trip for. We also ordered a Margherita Pizza, which was a disappointment. It had an embarrassingly small amount of cheese on it, leaving us with essentially a flatbread with tomato sauce. Quantity: Plastic cups, but fair pours for beer. The Margherita Pizza was tiny and lacking in cheese. Value: $7 for Draft Beers. $16 for a Margherita Pizza. Ambiance: River Outpost Brewing Co. is located in Peekskill, New York. Sitting right on the Hudson River, River Outpost is part of the massive Factoria at Charles Point. The complex has an upscale seafood restaurant, private party space, entertainment venue, and brewery, all of which overlap. It is a unique and overwhelming with children running and screaming everywhere. Since we had our dog, we were directed to some rough looking picnic tables in a corner of the outside. With two other outdoor areas, it seemed unnecessary to separate the dogs. However, it turned out okay, as it still provided easy access to the bar and a beautiful place to look out over the water. Crowd: Every area of this complex was busy. The arcade was filled with kids and birthday parties, the outdoor dining area was packed, and they had a private function on the second floor. Service: I do not understand why they don't allow dogs in the standard outdoor patio, but was glad they did have a space for dogs, even though it is run down. We stopped for lunch here after looking at wedding venues in the area (Factoria included in the same building as River Outpost). It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in March and we were able to get seated immediately outside by the water. They have a ton of space and even though it was pretty busy and almost full, the service was awesome!! We received all of our drinks and food in a timely manner. This place was incredible. Loved the atmosphere and the whole vibe of the outdoor experience. The food was great. We ordered the crispy calamari which came with roasted chickpeas and other little treats (some sort of spicy pepper?) It was absolutely delicious I need to figure out how he did the chickpeas. The dinner options were inventive and took a different twist on some staples. I ordered the Cubano sandwich that came with broccolini on it. At first I thought that would be weird but if it tasted really good. We also got the italian import wood fired pizza which was really good. The beers taste great (I didn't love the cucumber one, it tasted a little bit like pickle juice, but they say that's good for hangovers right?) We liked that the had t shirts for their servers encouraging people to wear masks and even though they were down a server, ours who normally bartends, named Joe, stepped up to the plate. Extremely hard to find, no sign by the road no sign on the building. It's inside a very loud arcade full of kids running around, which is great if you have kids but a nightmare if you don't. Waitress was pretty bad, ordered a beer it never came, asked a second time finally got it then was charged for two beers. This place is amazing! I was invited here after never hearing of it. Walking in (at first) reminded me of Dave and Busters (which wasn't good). But then walking around to the outside and seeing the multiple bars, activities, games it was a dream. I got 2 IPAs, pretzel, and fries. The beer was really good and decently priced ($7). The arcade games are a ton of fun to play with your beer in one hand. Darts, ping pong, bocce. Definitely bring a large group of friends and just hang out here.
