Came in here for some ice cream with a hint of nostalgia. I grew up eating thrify ice cream and was craving some chocolate malted crunch. The staff was very helpful but the same people had to work the cashier and the ice cream. It was hard for them to find the time to serve us. The shelves also seem pretty understocked with things. This review is just for the ice cream section. Enjoyed Thrifty ice cream as a kiddo. It was definitely a treat back then. Today, I still like their ice cream. The hubby and I were in the neighborhood visiting the Daiso next door. It was a warm weekend afternoon and we got a couple of scoops. Mine was the pecan praline in a cup. Their prices are still a bargain. They could do better with their spoons though. The ice cream spoons are flimsy. As for the service, our clerk did an amazing juggling act running the customer service line for the store in addition to servicing the ice cream counter. Rite Aid is A-OK! This Rite Aid IS THE WORST! We've shopped here for many years but no more. The shelves are poorly stocked and there are homeless often sleeping in the front. And the pharmacy is a disaster! We made appointments to get Covid shots, arrived 10 minutes early and still waited for nearly an hour. AND THEN, when we finally were called, the pharmacist said they were out of the new vaccine. He was a big Chinese guy who spoke terrible English and we could barely understand him. 0 stars and never shopping here again. read more

Horrible. Got discharged from emergency dept with a prescription to pickup here. This Rite Aid had an outage but wouldnt even take a phone call from another Rite Aid pharmacist down Sepulveda to transfer it. Other Rite Aid pharmacist called and called, no answer. And employees at this one refused to give me a number that the other Rite Aid pharmacist can reach them at. I drove all the way down here from the other Rite Aid on Sepulveda and just need this pharmacist to let the other Rite pharmacist fill it. The other Rite Aid pharmacist said she can do it as long as someone at this one answers her phone call. I tried calling the Emergency Dept at Torrance Memorial Medical last night but they nust said to wait and drive back to Rite Aid the next day. So here I am the next morning and the Rite Aid staff won't just talk to each other. WTF, this isnt like buying vitamins, I'm trying to get my prescription from the emergency room doctor. No care about the customer or patients. My pain meds wore off a long time ago and I'm limping around outside the stupid Rite Aid. Never ever use Rite Aid. They don't care and just shut the door 14hrs later and I still dont have my emergency dept prescription. And 16hrs later no pain meds trying to get Torrance Emergency Dept to switch my prescription to Costco pharmacy but Costco pharmacy still hasn't received. What can improve about this pharmacy is them not short changing people on their medication they were only giving my daughter one bottle of insulin when she was supposed to be receiving six bottles of insulin then they said tonight that her medication have been picked up in October and she was given a 90-day supply her medication was picked up in September and she was only given a 30-day supply or they're always out of your medication and have to order it I'm sick of it I'm changing pharmacies and I'm calling corporate offices on them they really think people are stupid read more

I'm not sure about the night management at this location. I normally have a good experience in this location, but I normally go during the day. First off at 7:50 pm the Rite aid sign outside wasn't turned on at all. Then, as we walk in there's a family walking from the ice cream counter with ice cream in hand to the register line. Just as my daughter and her friend walk up to the ice cream counter to order the man at the register line yells "ice cream is closed!" I then came out of the garden isle to ask if this is true and said yes it's closed. The other guy on a different register said yes we close the ice cream one hour before closing. I said really? At 7:54? I wonder if I go to the other Rite aid down the street if they would say the same thing? Obviously, they were trying to get out of there as quickly as possible at the 9:00 closing. I am reviewing specifically the Pharmacy. I like that I can renew my prescriptions and re-order them over the app. I then get notifications as to when my medication will be ready. They also offer a pay option within the app which I find very helpful. On a few occasions when I had a medication that was not covered they offered to look for coupons for me. The people working in the pharmacy are lovely, but the Pharmacist has consistently misread my prescriptions and doesn't seem to understand the dosing as described on the medication packaging. In 9 months, she has never once had the correct amount of medication available when I was told to come in. We are talking about common COPD medications and the mistakes show a complete lack of understanding how the medication is used. I have switched pharmacies and I suggest you do the same. read more

I've been to different rite aid pharmacies in the South Bay area but this Torrance place is a huge difference.. (night and day).. unlike other rite aid pharmacies, the pharmacist here in torrance take the time to make sure I understand my medication and consults me about the warnings and instructs me on how and when to take my medication. (Basically goes over the label). I also got my flu and shingles shot here because of the recommendation from the pharmacist..If your in the South Bay area and in need to fill a prescription I highly recommend you get it filled at the Torrance Rite Aid pharmacy. Honestly, if you are not on the clock, don't stand behind the registers and be rude to customers. I came here to pick up some photos I ordered online, actually the third time trying to pick these up.. But that's a different story... I stand in line and get to the cashier. I tell her that I need to pick up photos. She tells me to ask the person a few registers down because there was a line forming behind me. The second lady, Mercedes, says "I'm not on the clock yet, if you can wait a few minutes..." At this point, I was fine with waiting, but she proceeded to ask what I needed. I tell here that I am picking up photos. She tells me I need to go wait in the line. Um, I just came from that line. The first cashier told Mercedes that what I needed was just on the end of the counter. So, she took a look, asked what name it was under and couldn't locate it. She looked at the time and said she had one minute, then walked away. Just walked away and left me standing there with no photos in hand. Walked a little ways down and just stood there. The first cashier came to assist me and was able to locate it pretty quickly. I wish I had gotten her name also because she was helpful and friendly. I understand that Mercedes was off the clock, so don't be behind the register and kind of sort of help a customer then leave her hanging because you are too incompetent to find a name. If you are on the floor, you are there to assist customers. If you are not on the clock, don't be on the sales floor. read more

I live next door to this store and the people here are like family to me. Of course they see me practically everyday. Amanda, the cashier that works every weekend, is a very nice person and sociable. I always joke with her regarding serving me ice cream and she makes me laugh. Overall, she is a very nice person, always smiling, and has a positive attitude at all times. The supervisor of the store is very nice too always smiling, says hi to me each and every time she sees me, possesses a positive attitude, and always happy. I strongly recommend Amanda be the next manager of the store or the store supervisor be promoted to the manager position. Both Amanda and the supervisor of the store would make an excellent management team of this location. They possess excellent customer service skills which to me is very important!!! All I wanted was some ice cream. So since I live in the ghetto and just wanted to get my chocolate chip ice cream without worrying about getting shot, I hopped in my pimp ride of the week and headed out to Torrance. Turns out this one is just as ghetto as the rest of them. I picked up my ice cream, and the freezer was full of containers that were either kind of open, or had leaks and melted ice cream pouring over the sides. Gross. I pulled one from the back, because, as mom taught me, you never want one in the front. So I was second in line and the woman in front of me was buying a million things. Go to Target! Who does their shopping at Rite Aid? And then all of a sudden the line is like 5 deep. There's a cashier just standing there the whole time we're waiting, and then as the customer in front of me finished up and I stepped up, the cashier in my line tells me to go to the one next to her. Then that cashier (who'd been standing there the whole time) says, "Hi, can I help you?" Well, yeah, you could've helped me like 5 minutes ago while my hand was getting frostbite holding my chocolate chip ice cream. Whatever. And then I get home and the ice cream is definitely not as good as it would have been had it come out of a cylindrical ice cream scooper. Four stars because the cashier saved us extra money without having a Rite Aid club card. This appears to be a typical Rite Aid aisles stocked with all sorts of things you can't live without. I noticed an emphasis on back to school supplies and accessories. If you ask me, it's the most wonderful time of the year though as a child I didn't think so. The ice cream area for scoops and cones brought back fond memories and the ice cream case was filled with all sorts of Thrifty brand ice cream flavors. On this day it was "buy two get one free" so we followed the rules. No lingering to shop for sundries this time but I did smile when memories popped into my head about the times I used to spend hours at drugstores shopping every aisle for items I'd likely never use but were just too great a deal to pass up. I remember moving out of an apartment with enough drugstore stuff to start my own business. I mean who needs 6 boxes of q-tips and 34 incandescent light bulbs? No idea why I was obsessed with shopping for stuff at the drugstore. Maybe I was hoarding for Y2K who knows. This store gets a five star for cleanliness, for being well stocked, and amazball prices on alcohol (seriously you can't beat them, even Walmart can't). There other prices are not as good. I come in here a couple times a month to pick up prescriptions via the pharmacy. The pharmacy itself and the workers running the pharmacy are always nice and accommodating. I've never had an issue. The store section of the Rite Aid I don't really frequent because there's nothing here that I would particularly buy. All of the things in a Rite Aid available for purchase are things I can buy at another store, for much cheaper. My only gripe with this place is the fact that there is often a solicitor outside of the business asking for money for some cause. It's a big turn off. read more

I was there on a Saturday morning: I hit up the bank w a friend, wandered through Daiso, got some groceries at Murakai & finished by treating ourselves to Thrifty's Ice Cream! All that & we were done before noon! This store is located in the same shopping center as Daiso, Murakai Japanese market, Ace Beauty Supply, Lindberg Nutrition, Citibank, & Magicland Dental. There are also other stores very close by. With gas prices soaring this is a great Rite Aid store to handle weekly errands. Friendly helpful staff, toiletries, necessities, cold drinks, first aid, prescriptions and of course the awesome ICE CREAM! W.C. : This is the part that saved me from an embarrassing myself. lol. This place is okay for me. You'd think they'd have an edge bc they have the ice cream area, but that's only when you can actually get someone to serve you. My experiences here are 50/50, thus three stars. Recently, my trip here was a breeze, but it was also 7:45am on a Wednesday. Asked an associate where the Carmex was at and got pointed to it right away. Got to the register, she was friendly, and then got out. Again, it was early morning and empty. Then there's the few times I waited in front of the ice cream place for waaaay too long with associates walking by and no one helped me or got anyone to help. I ended up just walking out. When there's even a small line at the register, it takes forever! Some of the cashiers move sooooo slowly-- sense of urgency, please! And sometimes there's nobody in line but me, so idk if that somehow makes my time insignificant bc I'm one person, but a cashier will be like hold on, and just leave to do who knows what, and then she'll come back and help me. This is a review for the pharmacy, I wouldn't shop here otherwise because the lines in front are always too long. I don't know what has happened to this place, but over the last year the service in the pharmacy has become unbearably bad. I've been a customer at this location for over 15 years. Previously the help was always great, now it's just awful. Trust me. I don't have time to list every offense individually. I can tell you that every order for the last 5 or 6 month's has been screwed up. Either not ready, not complete or not correct dosage. My patience has run out and if I get one more mistake, I may just blow a gasket. Let's review, for 14 0r more years, perfect service for the last 6 month's, wrong everytime. The lines! The bloody lines! This place kills me. I have one item and I have to wait in line for 10 minutes. Every time. It just doesn't seem rationale. It's certainly not a pleasant experience. So they have the old Thrifty Ice Cream here. The prices have really gone up for scoops though over the years. This would be a great example to describe to a youngster the harmful effects of inflation over time when you can say you remember when it was $0.15 a scoop where now it's $1.69. And as they are staring at you wide-eyed as they are enjoying their ice cream cone you could go on to explain how the Federal Reserve causes inflation with all their monetary policies and before 1913, there was no inflation or Federal income taxes for that matter. You could also explain how the Global Elite use the Federal Reserve and its policies to try to hurt and destroy the middle-class of America by making their hard-earned money worth less and less over time. You could also explain how the Federal Reserve is a private corporation owned by wealthy bankers like the Rothschilds, Morgans and Rockefellers who don't give a rip about us but are only concerned about getting richer at the expense of hard working American families. You can explain how we need to shut the Federal Reserve down and go back to the gold standard. Then as the youngster looks at you with confusion you can tell him to just enjoy his $2.50 double scoop because when he has kids some day, it will probably cost him over $20. : / read more
