*Shame on you for closing down without notifying customers* Last year the Beverly Hills location closed down and Pharmaca merged with Medly. Since then it's been a total shit-show (especially the Brentwood location) but thanks to Natasha, who remembered me from the BH location, she went above & beyond to provide me with excellent customer service at the Santa Monica store. Imagine my surprise when this morning I received an email about a storewide 50% off sale for all products. Then inside the email was small print that they're going out of business. I called the SMO store and every option to speak to someone is redirected to Walgreens. I tried calling the Brentwood & Pacific Palisades store and the same thing happened. I tried calling the Corp office in Colorado and they're not accepting calls - only voice messages. Good luck getting through on the phone to speak to someone at Walgreens. I like to support local business - if I wanted to use Walgreens I'd already be a customer. At least when the BH store closed down we were sent notices. According to an article I just read, Walgreens bought them out for 19.5M and wasted no time trying to convert its new customers. Problem being - Pharmaca/Medly did NOT notify its customers and handled their sale takeover unprofessionally. But I'm not surprised because of how poorly run this company has been for the past year. And I saw the writing on the wall as their shelves have been empty for months and received some feedback from some longtime team members. But was told Pharmaca was taking over Medly. Pharmaca used to be an amazing pharmacy & store that had an excellent stock of high-quality vitamins & supplements and I relied on them & their wonderful team for suggestions & recommendations. I also rely on them for a medication refill. I understand things change and the world isn't the same...but SHAME ON Pharmaca/Medly's Corp management team for leaving your customers hanging without any notice and shutting down more abruptly than 10 year olds closing their lemonade stands on the corners. read more

Worst pharmacy ever. If I could give zero stars, that would be more appropriate. I called to find out where a prescription was because it was supposed to be refilled a week ago, and I just realized it now. This prescription is on a monthly fill schedule that's good through March of this year. First, the pharmacist claimed that the prescription was initially filled in 2021 and so it was no longer eligible for refills. That was different from what my last bottle said, so I explained to him that's a prior order from the one I was addressing. He kept cutting me off and would not let me finish what I was saying. When he finished his blame-fest tirade, I gave him the prescription number off the bottle, and he backtracked. But... He had no explanation for why my prescription just plain stopped. Instead, he focused all his energy on blaming me for not calling sooner. Should I have called sooner? Sure! But that isn't the issue here. The issue is that this pharmacy completely deleted my prescription 3 months before the end date and made absolutely no apologies or attempt to explain how it happened. My doctor had to send an emergency fill, but I can tell you that I will move to a more service-oriented and personable pharmacy after this single refill is done! In fact, I don't even need personable. I need the job done reliably and, if there are mistakes, the integrity to admit it and communication that helps me work out a solution. I can't help but wonder what other mistakes are being made, considering this pharmacist's angry, disrespectful, and overly defensive attitude. Save yourself the headache and potentially harmful errors; go somewhere else. read more

Needed meds and a couple of gifts. This place used to be Vicente Pharmacy, saw Angela Lansbury and Michael Douglas (not together) in here years ago. Now it's Pharmaca and while it doesn't have the incredible gift displays that used to be here, everything is still pretty special, and some of the employees are still here. There was a line of about 20 people waiting to drop off prescriptions at the CVS down the street. I walked into Pharmaca and was the only one in line. Score!! While I waited, I picked up a couple of cute cosmetic bags and some Motrin. I also perused the incredible selection of homeopathic and alternative drugs, pills, salves, drops. They have Dr. Bach remedies and European stuff, etc. It's not a huge store but they have arranged everything in a very user-friendly way, with the gifty-type items, perfumes, etc., on small displays here and there. Nothing is ever on time or in stock and they are so disorganized they will have no idea what's been filled and what hasn't. I have had to switch pharmacies after going to this location for a decade. I was put in charge of finding a holiday gift for someone overseas who is in love with Earthlust--a stainless steel bottle maker who apparently is not afraid to make some bottles kinda girly. This is an online purchase if ever there was a need for one, but of course, I needed the bottle IMMEDIATELY as it was going in my brother's suitcase who was flying to Europe and there was no time for shipping. I called the manufacturer in Sausalito who then told me that one of their retailers is Pharmaca, two blocks away from me. Thrilled, I called the store to confirm only to have the clerk let me down gently and tell me that they only carry private label bottles. Figuring I had nothing to lose as the store is literally up the street, I drove up anyway, parked and walked in to see a whole shelf of the brand staring right at me. There were about forty different Earthlust bottles which was both GREAT and also FRUSTRATING as there was no way the clerk could have missed this huge display. Still giving the store a four stars since it's a quaint little pharmacy with a lot of unique brands (including the EXACT one I needed) but I doubt I'll be calling in anymore. Personally, it's easier for me to drive up and scour the shelves myself but I can see how that wouldn't be an option for everybody. read more

I called them over the weekend after they didn't deliver, and they said I needed to call back Monday to get more information on when my prescription would be ready. I called today and they said they don't know when they will have it, and it could be 3-4 months. So now I've lost four days in trying to get prescription filled and had to track them down to get an answer. Important to note that this is a very basic medication. After this horrendous experience and customer service, I will be taking my business elsewhere, and would recommend those who want any semblance of care and customer service to do the same. read more

I love this pharmacy. I needed a prescription for a hard to find medicine my doctor prescribed. After calling 5 other pharmacies, I called Pharmaca and was told they did have the medicine. I asked the pharmacist, David K., if he could call to get the prescription transferred over from another pharmacy. About 30 minutes later I got a call that the prescription was ready for pick-up. I was very pleased with how fast everything happened, and the billing to my insurance was just as expected. David was also very kind in explaining how to use the medicine and warned me about a few side effects. I can't think of ever going to another pharmacy other than Pharmaca. So long CVS. read more

LIFE CHANGING For some odd reason, I thought once you chose a pharmacy, you had to stick with them. I had been using CVS as my pharmacy for as long as I can remember, and all of those memories are negative. No matter the day, no matter the time, the wait was/is unbelievable. I have wasted a solid portion of my entire life just waiting in the CVS pharmacy line. Regardless of having the "efficient" app, Rx's that showed as ready to be picked up were incorrect and there were mistakes pretty much every single time, including the price fluctuations between each refill. Then one day, my doctor told me that I am not bound to any specific pharmacy and to try out Pharmaca. Enough said. I have saved not only time, but a significant amount of money, only to be treated 100000x better than any other pharmacy. I was personally introduced to each of the staff to whom I would love to give a shout out. NATASHA, MIKE, THERESE, RICHARD, MICHAEL, SALLY, ARIAN, PAULINA. When I went back to get the right medication there was no apology. Even worse they acted as if they were doing me a favor . Moved my medications to this pharmacy from CVS because of the long lines, and I was very pleased for several months. Unfortunately, now I need to find a better place! One of the pharmacists (Farnoosh) was very rude to me over the phone and jumped to conclusions before even asking me any questions. All I was trying to do was order my prescription so it was ready the day I ran out of the previous fill. When I went in there to pick up the prescription, it wasn't ready even though I called 10 days prior to that date! Here's what she told me: "If you don't like the way we fill prescriptions, you should go to another pharmacy." That was the first thing out of her mouth, garbage, like her attitude. Went here the other day to fill a prescription for pain medication (I was 6 hours post op on a thyroidectomy and partial neck dissection). The first thing the pharmacist says is "where do you live"? Not really sure how my area of residence matters when I come in looking like Frankenstein. And for the record, I grew up two blocks away and my family has filled prescriptions here since I was a kid. The lady then told me she didn't have it (after a half-assed look at the shelf next to her). Pretty surprising since what I needed was very common. There was absolutely no empathy or common courtesy. Thank god I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, would hate to have to deal with attitude like that regularly. read more

I've been going to Pharmaca for 40 years (Westside Pharmacy). I'll share a story. I was looking for an ice pack for my sons medication, we were going on vacation. After going to CVS (two of them) and Target. Nothing would work. So I went to Pharmaca to pick some stuff up and asked about an ice pack. I recently transferred all of my Rx's into the hand of Pharmaca Brentwood. So my review will cover the Pharmacy and the store itself. The pharmacy I one of the best I've been to, especially considering the care and precision used to transfer all of my prescriptions from a Malibu pharmacy. Sally, a pharmacist was the first person I spoke with and got the ball rolling, and I must say, FAR beyond my expectations. The pharmacy staff is extremely accommodating when it comes to needing 'hard to find' brands. Mike, who rings you out at the Pharmacy, is truly one of the friendliest and funniest managers. Fabulous Pharmacy. I also get vitamins and supplements from this location. My go to man is Asaiah who knows vitamins, supplements, remedies, natural and beyond for EVERYTHING. Personally I only take his advice, as I believe he is by far the most knowledgable practitioner I guess you could say. Also, he always grabs the brand on sale, or the cheaper version to show me, and will compare to others. Oh man. THANK YOU, PHARMACA! I needed some cold meds and I needed some Mucinex right away. I already stopped by the CVS and the line was so long I couldn't even imagine how long it would take for me to get Mucinex behind the counter (eventhough it's over the counter). And I didn't want to risk going to the other CVS on Wilshire. It's sometimes just as crowded, so I decided to try Pharmaca, and thank god that I did. There were so many helpful employees there. Everyone was so nice and able to help you find anything you needed. There was also no line. It was AMAZING. I've never seen anything like it....they have the typical brands you'd find at CVS, but at the same time, they have brands that you'd find at Whole Foods. I've decided this is going to be my pharmacy from now on. No more waiting in line at CVS! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! read more

I walked into this pharmacy, now called Medly it seems, today to request a flu shot of the type for people over 65, like me. After first being told that would be fine, that they had it on hand, and after I filled out the paperwork a pharmacist would be right out to administer the shot, they then refused to give it to me, claiming that Medicare had informed them that it only covers flu shots given at CVS or Walgreens. I challenged them repeatedly on that, and then called Medicare directly and was told that Medicare would never tell a pharmacy such a thing or refuse coverage for a Medicare-covered drug, which a single flu shot per season definitely is, except in the case of a pharmacy that has refused Medicare assignment. Nevertheless the pharmacist wouldn't budge. He just said coverage was denied, repeated the only-at-CVS-or-Walgreens fiction, and that was that. Bottom line: be warned that this pharmacy evidently does NOT accept Medicare assignment. Don't go there if you're expecting Medicare to pay for all or any part of your medication, or to deal with a pharmacist who knows anything about Medicare. Go elsewhere. read more

This review is of Pharmaca.com. I placed an online order for a natural medicine I wanted to get my wife on promptly. A week later we received a box that was labelled correctly but contained somebody else's order (one of the items was open by the way). I requested a refund & they requested I ship back the items using a shipping form they provided. So much for avoiding going out in public in these times, for I had to go to a busy post office to drop off the package. Then after shipping back the mistaken shipment, instead of getting a refund I requested, they decided to send me an "overnight" replacement shipment that they called a "no-charge replacement order." There were three things wrong about this, 1. I told them I did not want a replacement; 2. They sent an overnight shipment that took 5 days; 3. The so-called "no-charge" was a "yes-charge." So then I had to wait until I got the yes-charge replacement order and then I had to wait until they received the return in order to get my refund... or so I thought. They received the package on October 8th and today is Nov 3rd and still no refund. It took 3 emails and a phone call for them to finally decided they would initiate a refund which has not gone through yet. They actually played dumb and said that no refund was owed to me. Then I had to go unbury emails and shipping slip numbers to show them how I had returned it to them and they had acknowledged the receipt of both returns. I am pretty sure they were just hoping I would forget about the refund. I am still waiting for a refund but got tired of waiting so I figured I would warn other people. I hope I do get my refund someday though; we will see. read more

After much debate, I feel it's my duty as a healthcare advocate and Pharmaca Pharmacy employee (Portland) to address issues . After having surgery in Los Angeles I choose to have my prescriptions sent to the nearby Pharmaca. Having two Pharmacas relatively close, my husband went to the wrong location,this one. After much confusion the staff figured out it was sent to the other location . My husband not being familiar with the area asked the tech to call the other store to make sure they were done . They said they couldn't since they were busy . Fine. It happens . I understand . He then asked if they could give him their address or number to figure out where to go . To my dismay , the fthe Pharmacist ( he believed ) rudely stepped in and replied " why don't you look it up yourself !" Already frustrated, he walked away and called me to clarify . I demanded he tell me the name of the people who helped him because that is not by any means the way you treat customers , especially ones who are obviously lost and confused. Not only does Pharmaca strives to provide excellent customer service regardless of the chaos behind the counter. It is my personal goal when I interact with my customers at the pharmacy and have never turned away a customer in such a manner, especially when they are no being aho*** . I qualify for medicare prescription drugs, but quite often the GoodRX coupons provide SIGNIFICANTLY lower prices than the medicare copay. Very often GoodRX shows my neighborhood Pharmaca as the lowest priced source. They have been helpful in contacting my Dr. directly and having prescriptions provided so that they can fill them. I have had ONLY POSITIVE experiences at Pharmaca San Vicente Brentwood. The staff is great & the Pharmacists are superb. Dr "Tina" is equivalent to having a personal MD/Pharmacist. Knowing the medications I am taking for estrogen positive breast cancer, she alerted me to a supplement I was taking that was soy based. Her special attention to this detail is critical to my health! This drugstore puts the traditional drugstore brands like CVS and RiteAid to shame! Pharmaca is incredible. They carry a huge selection of homeopathic medicines and also have a traditional pharmacy. They have all my favorite things: face wipes, probiotics, etc. The staff is so happy to help and their pharmacists take their time answering any questions you have. This store makes going to the pharmacy a pleasure. There is always something tempting to buy and always someone willing to help. Parking in the lot in front is generally quite easy. read more
