This homeopathic pharmacy, the central compounding pharmacy has really gone way downhill. We noticed for sometime that they were paying no attention to the doctor's faxes with prescrition refills etc., it was all very annoying and very time consuming, and the staff were rude, although they were ok. After lots of very annoying experiences there, trying to re- order a special salve for my husband that he's been using for years, and getting from them with no problem, we were easily able to have the prescription faxed over to St. John's Pharmacy on Arizona Ave. , as well as regular meds they also do compounding there which is very handy, and it's a much better and more reliable place. read more

This establishment came through for me when I needed help with securing a prescription for my dog. They prioritized compounding his antibiotics. The prescribing vet is far away, and yes, would've charged me 1/2 what I paid here. But other animal hospitals won't fill a script not written by their own doctor, so Central Compounding Pharmacy was invaluable in accepting the prescription and fulfilling it so quickly. Last Wednesday, my doctor prescribed me some creams at Central Pharmacy in Santa Monica. On Thursday, the pharmacy called to ask if I wanted to pick them up in person or have them shipped. I chose shipping because the pharmacy is far from my home. On Friday, they still hadn't shipped the order. My doctor told me he would mark it as urgent. On Monday, I still hadn't received anything. I called on Tuesday and was told I should be getting it that day -- but again, nothing arrived. On Wednesday (yesterday), I called again and they said it was on its way and I should receive it that day. I checked the shipping label from a previous order and noticed the address was incorrect, so I warned them I might not receive it. They told me to try checking the incorrect address to see if it ended up there. I went -- it wasn't close to my house -- and I couldn't find the place, so I came back home. Today, I called again and was told the package had been delivered yesterday. I explained that I never received it and that I've needed this medication since Friday. The woman who answered -- who turned out to be the manager -- told me it was my fault because I had given them the wrong address. But I had confirmed my address via text and gave it correctly -- they had typed the wrong house number. She said she would see if it could be resent "because it was my mistake." That really upset me. I told her it wasn't fair to charge me for something I never received, and that if I hadn't followed up, I would have never known what happened. Instead of helping, she kept interrupting to say I was being disrespectful and that I was yelling. I was simply trying to explain that I'm a customer asking for something I paid for and never received. She made me feel like I was the one being rude, even though she never acknowledged or apologized for their mistake. I told her I needed the medication and now have to reschedule my doctor's appointment. She eventually said I wouldn't be charged -- though I'll need to double-check my card to be sure. What I find most frustrating is that this was the manager -- someone who should be trained to resolve problems calmly and professionally, especially when the issue is clearly the pharmacy's fault. Instead, she blamed me, never apologized, and made me feel like I was being too aggressive just for speaking up. Honestly, she came across as too fragile to handle a basic customer complaint -- which is concerning coming from someone in a management role. read more

The pharmacy charged my card when I explicitly told them not to, and they even had a note of me telling them not to charge my card. I couldn't be charged last week, because I had three big bills coming out and that was my priority. I even told them not to fill the prescription yet, but the woman on the phone told me that they could fill it but not charge my card. I stressed to them to not charge my card, and they did anyhow. The woman I spoke with told me that she had made the mistake of charging my card, because she didn't see the note till after she charged it. She said she had immediately refunded the transaction, but it still hasn't gone through on my end. I am absolutely livid and only have $5 in my account! I am going to have to now dispute the transaction with my bank, which is another stress that I don't need. read more

Ive been happy using their compounding service until this year. I had to accept a prescription supposed to be made specifically for me but 1/2 of which had an expiration date of 3 months instead of the normal six months because they made a bunch prior to my order they needed to get rid of. If it hapens again I may need to change a pharmacy which has a better policy. read more

Whoever answer the phone is always short and rude. They take 3-5 days to fill a prescription for pickup and don't call me to tell me the prescription is ready. I'm so confused by the people who say the staff is friendly? Every time I call or go in I'm met with brisk and annoyed attitudes? Maybe I've had bad luck. read more

Incredibly helpful and patient staff who go way beyond their "required" assistance to make sure shipments are sent out correctly etc. I've been filling RX here for 11 years and the owner truly cares about the Pharmacy. During the pandemic, no interruption. When there had been a credit card leak once they took all precautions with orders and informed about all steps taken. It's just all a great indication on honest business which I appreciate and everyone should know that this compounding pharmacy is legit! read more

I have been giving my business to this pharmacy for years due to the fact my doctor recommended this pharmacy. Anytime I had a concern, which was rarely, I would get a poor attitude and nothing would be resolved. They would basically turn it around as if it were the fault of the customer every time. If you like being treated with the utmost disrespect then you have found your pharmacy. From the cashier to the pharmacist you will find that these people are arrogant and condescending. I am appalled at the behavior of these people. I do hope that the owner of this business will take a hard look into what is taking place here and demand an attitude adjustment.Your employees acted angry and unhappy. So shameful. Since this behavior has been going on for a long time I am fairly certain there will be no change. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to give your business to as I have. The attitude and demeanor of the staff in this pharmacy is the biggest turn off. From the pharmacist answering the phone to the technicians- really would rather not transfer my prescriptions in Called to see if they had a medication in stock and was basically mocked for not pronouncing it correctly. I am very impressed with their attention to detail, and, when there was a problem, they helped solve and resolve it. I find it so refreshing to go to a non-chain pharmacy, makes you feel human again! Helpful and informed staff who find solutions for your prescription needs. The only reason I give Central three stars is because their hours seem to cut out accessibility for WORKING women! I strongly strongly recommend they open for limited weekend hours or at least extend their evening hours for one single night of the week. Easily scheduled my booster shot. I arrived on time and waited a few minutes to be called (a good sign - the place was very busy so they're doing something right!). I told the pharmacist I wanted to change from Jansen to Moderna and it was no problem. The shot was quick and painless and while I waited the requisite 10 minutes on the bench inside I got to look at the very nice products that were for sale. Almost bought some caramels . . . Stay away from this place!!! I had my prescription moved over from Great Earth Pharmacy because it was more convenient to my home. BIG MISTAKE. They cut my prescription in 1/2 and charged 1/3 more for the same amount of drug. They cut one of my prescriptions 100mg to 50mgs then gave me twice as much and charged me more to equal the true prescription. When I questioned it they said I was getting more. I was but I had to double my dosage so it wasn't more at all! I didn't notice the difference for a few weeks until I noticed the lack of efficacy. I should have compared the moment I got home but assumed they did the prescription correctly. When I checked the dosages on the bottle and pills I was furious! I have gone back to Great Earth Pharmacy! I will deal with the tough parking to avoid the deceptiveness of Central Pharmacy & Compounding! My doctor is equally disgusted by what they did! Central Pharmacy is such an amazing little pharmacy and I have gladly been going to them for well over 10 years now. I LOVE that they are so friendly and accommodating and at this point seem like family... they remember my name and who I am (and sometimes will already have my prescription pulled out by the time I walk from the front door to the counter!) and it's a very welcoming feeling to go to a local business where they KNOW me and where they actually care (which is honestly rare anywhere in LA!!) Over the years they have been great with mailing me prescriptions, helping me with special ordering unusual over-the-counter vitamins or other items, and I've even gotten my dog's medicine compounded there. Sharon is the best! I was sick of all the problems I kept having at the Walgreens nearby---they were so rude and impersonal and I just felt like "another number" - so when I came to Central, it was SUCH a relief! Amazing service! I had just had another bad experience at the rite aid down the street. At this point I was done with rite aid and started walking down to this pharmacy to see if they could help me. I arrived at 4:50, they close at 5, I explained to them my situation and how I was treated at rite aid. They quickly entered my insurance information processed my prescription and had me out of their office in 10 minutes. They never once complained on me showing up at at closing and they never one mistreated me. I felt like a valued customer. They made a customer for life. I do not understand the negative reviews, this pharmacy is outstanding. It is imperative in today's complicated medical environment to be a proactive patient and work with your medical professional not against them or expect them to babysit you. I have been with this pharmacy for compounded medication 3 years that is shipped to my home have never had a problem. They call me on their own, to tell me they can save me money on my insurance and Anne is one of the best pharmacy technicians I have every come across. Sharon has come to my rescue several times with my flexible spending account at my husbands employer and I have seem atrocities at my local pharmacy that simply do not exist at Central Pharmacy. Basically you get out of any medical facility or retail establishment what you give to them or put into the on going relationship. Perhaps a change in how you treat your pharmacy will result in a more positive experience. They are not after all mind readers and I have found good communication skills are the key. They certainly have made my life easier. Also they are one of the few compounding pharmacies in the LA area to accept prescription insurance for compounding medications when all others want cash! read more

You would think that a small pharmacy would have a nice, friendly atmosphere. Not this one. I am happy to give this business two stars because the pharmacist seems very knowledgeable, that's fair. But the hours for this business make it prohibitively difficult even for someone who lives close with a pretty flexible schedule unless you opt for your prescriptions to be shipped which means you avoid their hours/days of operation (naturally, you pay for that luxury!) If you can think of a holiday - they'll take that day off and close. Seriously. All. Holidays. No bueno. Also, a small note to the business: When an error is made, as can happen since we are all human after all, rather than being rude, righteous, and contentious, maybe you could try a simple apology - it's is a great customer service tool. read more

In addition to having the rudest employees in Santa Monica; I was subjected to fraudulent billing; theft of my medication by employees; and general fraud. I have an Rx that needs to be compounded & have been going to Central Pharmacy for years. Their prices always seemed very high but I just assumed it was due to the nature of the Rx until recently my doctor transferred my Rx to another compounding pharmacy that she felt was a better pharmacy overall. The same exact Rx from Central Pharmacy cost $66 for 1 month supply as opposed to $66 for 3 months at the new pharmacy (Central Drugs in La Habra). I was shocked at the price difference & frankly felt completely ripped off by Central Pharmacy over the years. I left a message for the owner of Central Pharmacy to contact me & waiting to hear his/her explanation for this. I find it extremely difficult to understand how a business such as this is not open on Saturday. My doctor called in my prescription and on Saturday I went to get it and found it closed. Some of us work Monday-Friday and don't want to ask for time off work to get their prescription. I will have to call and ask them to mail it to me, kind of a hassle. read more
