I have to admit I only started to come here because of medication shortage and I'm legit ready to move all RX needs here. Staff is always friendly and it feels like yesteryear. Very friendly staff: only caveat: sometimes out of medications which are ordered ; but the convenience and warmth of the staff who treat me like a person not a number. If you go here to get prescriptions just be aware, you'll never be able to go back to Walgreens or Rite Aid again. I mean at this point, I'd probably drive 2 hours to OPP before going to any place else. INCREDIBLE. They're real people who actually care about you and don't judge at all. Ocean Park Pharmacy is owned by the pharmacist, who is not at all helpful, unfortunately he is quite the opposite, he is extremely rude boardering on verbally nasty. I had used Ocean Park Pharmacy since the mid 1990's, they were located directly across the street from my doctor's office. Below my review is a review from a woman named "Cindy", the review she wrote matches my experiences with Ocean Park Pharmacy quite closely. I feel I am being generous by giving Ocean Park Pharmacy two stars. After over at least ten years of verbal abuse I switched pharmacies to SMC Pharmacy which is also located in Santa Monica. SMC Pharmacy is a full service compound pharmacy; each of the pharmacists are well versed in pharmacology, hormone therapy, vitamins and compounds. Every employee I have had the pleasure of dealing with over the years has gone out of their way to get to know me, my medical needs and knows my name. They also deliver without any problems. I can honestly say there is no comparison between these two pharmacies. SMC is truly a Five Star Pharmacy. read more

A great local store. I am a big fan of local businesses. I buy my greeting cards here as there is a nice selection. The clerks are always helpful. I mainly come here to pay my utilities bills and for my lottery needs. Utility cash payments are accepted up until 4 pm. The counter for that is to right of the entrance. Left side counter is for pharmacy and regular purchase. There is a good size lot and it is next to Viva La Vegan. The lot can get busy but I never had a problem finding a spot, just be patient. My rating isn't for the pharmacy as I have never used it. I will update. read more

Color me shocked. My new insurance didn't cover a brand name medication so they called my doctor and asked for a new prescription that had a generic version available. Saved me $90 per month and didn't have to do a thing. Can't recommend OP Pharmacy highly enough. Truly thankful for people like this. read more

I'm a long time Walgreens's customers. I take two medications which due to changes in insurance switched to generic. In this case the generic is not effective. So, after getting no where with Walgreens, decided on a whim to stop into this neighborhood pharmacy which I've passed hundreds of times. I'm so happy I did! Ocean Park Pharmacy is like a time capsule of a long ago by-gone era. It's that small town place where they know you by name. The pharmacist, Bob, couldn't have been any kinder or more informative. He listened and didn't try to convince me I'm imagining something (i.e substandard generics) he took the time to explain the situation from his POV. I learned a great deal in just a few minutes. It made me nostalgic for a simpler time when people were kinder and helpful. Bob carries one of the specific brands of generic so I'm switching all my Rx there. Gotta love a friendly, locally owned and run service business otherwise dominated by chain stores and mail order options. Bob is a knowledgeable pharmacist and both he and his staff are friendly and helpful. They always go the extra mile. One of the clerks waited outside for 5-10 minutes after closing time to give me my medication because I couldn't quite get there in time. Little touches like keeping your credit card on file so they can have everything ready to pick up and go when you arrive. Very skilled at getting refills called in from your doctor's office and even better at negotiating barriers thrown up by the insurance companies. I can assure you: the "conveniences" and potential savings offered by chain and mail order pharmacies vanish after the first problem arises, when Bob and his staff leap into action and solve for you. read more

Useless awful place! Unfortunately this is the only pharmacy that takes my school insurance (or else I'd stop coming), and every couple months they give me the run around from prescriptions to health insurance coverage. Denise is the worst. She does not communicate with the rest of the staff and will confidently tell you they either don't have your prescription called in (only to find out 5 min later they did have it- you just needed to speak to a competent person there) or that your insurance coverage has ended when it clearly has not. I spent 30min calling my provider and school to ensure I was covered, then spent 5 min on the phone with Denise trying to tell her I was covered and she needed to CALL the number on my insurance card to check insurance coverage. She said she was unable to do this, I wasn't on the list so she wouldn't and couldn't do anything to check coverage. C'mon Denise do your job! Better communication is needed and a Denise free zone would be appreciated. read more

I have gone to this pharmacy for over 30 years. Bob is more like a friend than simply your pharmacist. When my kids were babies it was very reassuring to have this place. I am probably one of the few people who remember how Bob would deliver our prescriptions on his way home at night when I couldn't because my kids were too sick to leave. To this day, he stops what he's doing when you're there to greet you and have a quick conversation. He's a beautiful man with a very competent staff and he runs an amazing business. Compared to the big box stores it is a superior experience on almost all levels. Man, I really wanted to give this place 5 stars & encourage people to shop local and avoid CVS, but I can't support the homophobic pharmacist. My doctors office is right down the street a few doors away from this pharmacy, and while I would usually have my prescriptions sent to CVS because it's 24 hours, but I thought I'd give this place a go because it was convenient & not a big corporate pharmacy. Since I just needed a popular antibiotic, I figured the prescription would be ready in a few minutes, so I waited inside. The place is small. The woman who attended me at the counter was nice enough. But, at some point while I waited in the shop for my prescription to be filled, I heard this older man say the homophobic F word that rhymes with maggot. He was talking to a coworker so my ears perked up. I was like WTf?! I went to the counter and cleared my throat to try to get someone's attention to let them know, hello you're not alone, but the word came out of his mouth again, unapologetically. So it was no accident. I'm not sure what the context was, but I waited to hear if he was maybe repeating something another person said. He wasn't. If I wasn't sick and desperately needing those antibiotics, I might have had the sense to walk out and say I'm not supporting a pharmacist who is homophobic. But I was sick & gave it some thought & waited til I was well to write this review cuz I'm still mad and offended. No it wasn't directed at me, he was gossiping to a coworker. But I am horrified that even when he was aware that someone was in the pharmacy, he continued his loud talking hateful rhetoric. He was not whispering. Yeah, pharmacist, your using words like that disgust me. When you deal with the public, you have to be politically correct. Don't be a pig. Never coming here again. read more

Had a wonderful experience here this morning ! After an absolutely terrible experience at another SaMo pharmacy my doctor referred me to, I yelped a bit and found this place! So happy I did! The most friendly staff EVER! Bob and a female staff worker helped me out. They were so kind and helpful! These people really care about their customers and you can tell. Horrible experience with this pharmacy. I came in a while ago to get my prescription refilled; as many others have mentioned, I was looking for a local alternative to the big chains. Unfortunately, this pharmacy was worse. They had me waiting, thinking they were filling my prescription, when in fact they were simply placing me last, supposedly because I was a new customer. At first I wasn't too bothered by it, since it was nearing closing; but, then they tell me that they didn't have my prescription and would have to order it, which they could have told me in the beginning and I could have left. Again, inconvenient but not upsetting at this point. Instead of ordering the prescription, the pharmacist was trying to persuade me to simply take my prescription back and fill it elsewhere; this is the point where the poor service becomes upsetting. I said I didn't mind waiting for it, so go ahead and order it; then, they refuse to order it saying that "I don't live in the area, so they CAN'T fill it." What?! People can't fill their prescriptions near where they work, or near where their doctor is, or near where they go to school, or less than 20 miles from their home; what is the mandatory radius in which you have to live? In actuality, I did live in the area, however my mailing address on my driver's license is my permanent home rather than my address for school; I presented my school ID, even though this was a ridiculous objection. It didn't matter, they had decided they weren't going to serve me, and had me wait until all the other customers had left, so they could refuse to serve me more discretely. Well, good thing there's Yelp. Not only was the wait time inexcusable, but then they refuse service to me; which is actually not legal in the state of California. Having me wait until last, even though I had arrived before most of the people who were served in that last 30 minutes of business hours, now appears to be intentional and malicious, rather than simply an oversight. I try not to write bad reviews, but as I was needing to fill my prescription again, I was compelled to write about this awful experience; it bugs me every time I see this place. What should be a nice, local business to support; is unfortunately only available to some people, while others are discriminately refused service. read more

Been here a few times now to fill and refill prescriptions. Cute assortment of specialty, novelty greeting cards. All the staff seem very friendly and both times there was something wonky (like super expensive non-generic meds) the pharmacist pulls me aside (kind-of) and lets me know how much it's going to cost and asks, is this okay? Now, if I were in Tiffany & Co. and had the sales girl ask me this I might get offended but the same question framed here just seemed kind. The hours are little odd but for a mom & pop shop, I'm willing to rush across town to get there before 7 PM. read more

I really like Ocean Park Pharmacy, it's an old timey type pharmacy store that you might see in the midwest. The people are friendly, and they have all sorts of random little things and gift items for purchase. The one thing I would say is that they could be a bit better with confidentiality, and be sure not to call out names of medications that are being filled, or ask a person when they are waiting 'for the (insert name of medication)". I have seen this happen a few times to me and to others, so that could definitely use improvement. Overall though I still use them regularly. read more

Small pharmacy but quick and easy. They have the same copay as all other pharmacies but does a better job keeping everything in stock. Extra bonus: I always buy my greeting and special occasion cards there because they have a wide variety to look through while you wait for your meds. They're hilarious and pretty unique. They also rotate their cards as relevant for the holidays and have good seasonal stock. Bob is an awesome pharmacist. read more

Update: Bob Rosen is hands down the best pharmacist EVER! Because he runs a small shop, he can take the time to talk to you and he never fails to do so. I went in for some Nyquil (which by the way, the formula is not the same, they took out the decongestant) and he made sure I received an alternative that would do the trick. He makes you feel taken care of and that's pretty much priceless, don't you think? This is a true neighborhood pharmacy, forget Rite Aid, Long's, or Savon! I decided to boycott Walgreens and CVS forever! Those places are like pill mills and the wait-time and attitude isn't worth it to me. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Bob Rosen is hands down the best pharmacist EVER and the service is excellent. I can't imagine going anywhere else. It's a mom and pop type place with all kinds of cool little gifts you can look at while you're waiting. Stop giving money to the big corporate pharmacies who don't care about you at all. They also have a great selection of birthday cards along with an assortment of sundries. I have no idea why I suffered for years through long lines and terrible service at CVS when I could have been going to Ocean Park Pharmacy all along. Everyone who works at this pharmacy is cool and awesome to deal with. They'll do all the annoying stuff like call your doctor or call your old pharmacy to transfer your prescription. As a bonus, they also have a great greeting card selection. The vibe is friendly and chill. You call for a refill, and rather than get a cold robo-phone-system where you have to enter your Rx number, you get a nice person who says hello, you tell her who you are and what you need, and she says we'll have it ready in a few. Then when you go over, they open their Mead notebook where you sign next to the X they just wrote in there. So, stop going to CVS, go to Ocean Park Pharmacy instead, and instantly make one little part of your life stress-free :) read more

Excellent service and great customer care. Getting the prescription to pick up process is very quick and easy. Your doctor can fax the prescription to them and the meds will be ready soon after. And best of all, the pharmacist is very caring and willing to listen to you and answer every question you may have. He's very kind and nice it's relieving to talk to him about your symptoms and medicine. read more
