Lakeshore is a great resource for wonderful kids' games and puzzles. Shout out to AIDEN who was so helpful and so courteous.

How have I never heard of this place before? I've driven by it a million times, so I feel like I'm just silly for not noticing it. Lakeshore is geared towards teachers, however it's open to the public, so anyone can visit. (Also anyone can join their club which gives rewards and a free tote on your first visit!) They have tons of fun stuff for various grades (Pre-K to elementary age), tons of art supplies (paint, glittery stuff, poster board, etc), tons of school supplies (birthday certificates, wall certificates, etc), and books and toys galore! Some of the stuff can be $$$ (for example a book that was $17 here was $7 on Amazon) but other stuff is much more reasonably priced. We got some school work books for $3.50 each! Service was extra friendly, they have Covid protocols in place (masks required, sanitizer available), and the store was extra bright and clean. I can't wait to go back read more

Lakeshore is a goldmine for educational and creative toys. Teachers can get discounts (very useful, because prices are high). They also have regular coupons in their catalog, like buy 1 get the 2nd 1/2 off. This store is lit too brightly but is super clean and organized. Their products make learning fun. The workers are nice and friendly. There's one male manager who could work on his people skills, though. I like how on Saturdays they have arts and crafts for the kids. This is the place for go-to supplies needed for educators and parents who want to supplement their children's learning. The best assets are the literary supplies (lots of books, although pricey, covering every subject); math & language arts tools, and science kits. Another plus is you can use their laminating machine. However, it's full of cheesy banners, displays, and less-than-high-art supplies. Warning: it's hard to find natural products not made of plastic. Year in year out, I keep getting invited to children's birthday parties. It poses challenges as a full time career woman who does not have time to waste. I am not a teacher, I am not a parent. I am a person who simply wants to get home to relax after a long week at work. I also want to contribute with a happy heart to a kid's birthday party. In this instance, the baby boy's father requested "learning gifts." This place makes it easy. Whizzed on the website where they had gifts arranged by age, very helpful. Some of them even had reviews, even more helpful. Whizzed in the parking lot (found free parking in back), shared with 2 furniture shops. Then whizzed through the aisles with the cart. Asked the sales staff for help. Found what I was looking for and more. One toy was a crocodile that when pushed on his back, scurried across the room (no batteries needed). The goal would be to get the baby to chase after it. At least that is what the box says. I think all the rest of us will be chasing after it too. It is really race car fast. The second toy purchased was a watch the ball go down a series of colorful chutes game set up. Supposedly good for visual tracking. However after just having watched a Youtube video of a baby armed with a ping pong paddle, hitting ping pong balls while seated on a ping pong table right at the net, that would work just as well or better. Their gift wrap speedy service was done with a smile. Not just plain brown wrap. Bright and cheery wrapping. To top it off, I was escorted out the door to help with the giant bags of gifts. How's that for service? I'll be sure to send the stork, Santa, his elves, teachers, parents, mentors, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, budding artists, cooks, musicians, scientists, shopkeepers, and anyone else that may be bored or have a heart for children to this store. There is an abundance of toys in clearly marked sections here. Easy to navigate, well organized. From $1.99 to $359, there is something for everyone of all ages and income brackets. They even have FREE crafts for kids on Saturdays from 11-3 p.m. What a great resource to have on the Westside. If you have a kid's birthday party to go to, look no further. Until a year or so, I didn't even know Lakeshore had brick-and-mortar stores. I would have run amok in this store when I was kid! (Well, to be honest, that part still applies... ;) ) Lakeshore and I go way back. When I was in elementary school, I somehow stumbled across Lakeshore's mail catalog. I was OBSESSED with this catalog. Those costumes! The play food! The multicultural crayons! (I'm toast, if I recall correctly. Hehe.) I fantasized about having a colorful room filled with art supplies and a puppet theater... basically, my dream bedroom looked just like a kindergarten classroom :P At my parents' house, I still have the poseable Asian doll with the schoolgirl uniform that I carefully selected from those glossy pages. Anyway, so imagine my delight (nay, rabid glee) upon walking inside. Now THAT's my kind of candy store. I just love the variety of materials! It was very difficult not to just buy out the place, but a girl's gotta pay rent too... hehe. This is a great place for quality educational materials, and fun random trinkets. AND it's behind the Culver City station, which makes it terribly convenient. You only get one first impression and this Lakeshore's first impression was very good. When I walked into the store, the staff greeted me. The store was very neat and clean. I even saw an employee( I think a manager) dusting, awesome. All the staff were wearing their face shield. I needed help with laminating because it was my first time,so I went to checkout and asked Adore. Her customer service was excellent and she laminated everything for me. She was kind and patient. This place is awesome for kids, parents, and educators. It has everything you need for every stage of learning. The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is the price. Merchandise is not inexpensive here, but, Lakeshore does have everything you need. I really appreciate the Saturday and Sunday craft workshops hosted by the staff. This is a great place for a teacher or a parent. They have such amazing products to help grow a little learner. The store location could use a bit of safety since people bring their children there. It's a very sketchy neighborhood. The parking is horrible. It shares with some muffler or something place. This is why I only gave it four stars, otherwise it would be five. The aisles are clearly laid out and have a distinct order to the store (which the OCD part of my personality really appreciates!). They are always stocked up on things and they even have a small spanish section. I think this store is every parent's dream (well one that wants to have an educated child anyway.) The staff, they are useful if you know what you are looking for specifically. They aren't readily available, but they are also not working commission I am pretty sure. Love my "good for me" wall chart bought here $20 Fun selection of toys pretty excited for our HABA ball track for the bathtub! Hayley is a wonderful, helpful Lakeshore employee who made sure that I was able to find excellent resources for my kindergarten students. She pointed out sone of the specials, like 15 ft of Free laminating and even laminated some posters for me! Although she specializes in upper and middle elementary, she is knowledgeable and super helpful about any item in the store. I will definitely return to Lakeshore in West LA because of Hayley. Lakeshore is my secret weapon. My wife and I are in a minority in that we're in our thirties, we don't have kids, and we most certainly do NOT anthropomorphize our dogs. This is not to say we are unfamiliar with children. Far from it. We're regularly infested with kids. Relatives, friends, neighbors, all of them have expanded their carbon footprints by popping out one or two of these little "miracles". I'm all for devaluing the term "miracle" by applying it towards the biological imperative of reproduction. If a sadomasochist twist like Mother Theresa can be seen to have performed miracles, then perhaps we can just move on without the promotion to sainthood. "Fine. It's a miracle. Take a look at Calcutta - it's filled with miracles. Now can we ease the suffering of the poor instead of seeing pain as a path to salvation in your sick, barbaric, warped religion? Thanks." But now that we've moved past the parade of weddings we've graduated to the onslaught of children. (A childless friend of ours had the idea of having a birthday party for her dog and inviting only the parents of the kids that she had bought presents for over the years. Sure, we'd love to think there's no such thing as quid pro quo in gift giving, but imagine decades of that shit. I'd throw a party for my hat at that point.) Gifts for kids are a trick sack - a toy is pointless, excessive, and the domain of grandparents. Donations to charities are a great idea, but sometimes you don't want to be *that* much of a hippie. Thus, Lakeshore. Educational games, learning kits, craft supplies, and pretty much everything you could need for the K-12 experience. Laminated posters of human anatomy to fish species to multiplication tables, modeling clay, board games, sheets of felt, rolls of plastic, und so weite. If it's designed to facilitate learning, Lakeshore has it. It's arranged by grade and age so picking out an appropriate item is ridiculously easy. Their prices are outstanding and their clerks can offer pointed guidance about pretty much everything. They even know their state capitals. Teachers get a discount and can get one of those dangly keychain membership cards. They frequently have sales in the middle aisle to make space for all the new stuff they bring in. My family loves this store. My wonderful husband, daughter and I came here a few weeks ago to pick up some learning materials for our daughter and to prep her for the upcoming school year. As soon as we stepped in the door we were greeted by a really helpful fella who immediately asked if he could help and walked us over to the items we requested. As we were walking away to check out some of the other cool supplies they had, we were greeted by a young lady who again helped us along the way! If you are into helping your child succeed and get a hand up in school, this is the place for you! They have lots of parking, the store is clean and doesn't have much clutter, the staff is very helpful and their prices are reasonable. Also! This store is amazing ! It should get 5 stars. The reason for 3 is everything is overpriced. I just don't get it. With amazon at everyone's fingertips why don't you just price Match. This store is expensive if you don't have a discount. Because I'm not a teacher and didn't have coupons I overpaid for some items that I could have gotten cheaper on amazon. This place is a teacher's paradise. I loved Lakeshore based on catalog orders when I lived out of state. Seeing it all in person two weeks ago was magical. :) I love the selection, the discounts, and the self-laminating station. Joining the teacher club is free and it offers you discounts on frequent purchases like lamination and borders. The staff was very helpful and kind. I was having trouble finding a certain paper and a staff member looked in the back for me. She couldn't find it, but offered a workable alternative. I visited the Pasadena location the weekend after I came here and it was not nearly as big. I hope I get the chance to come to this location more often in the future. read more

As a teacher, i love this place ... but sadly, my wallet does not :[ I walked in and I was overwhelmed by all of the cool games and teaching materials that they offered. I wanted it all, but man-- some of that stuff is pretty expensive and I have no room in my budget for those kinds of prices. The minute I walked into this huge store, I forgot what I needed to get - I was so entranced by all the colorful school supplies! Stickers! Decorations! Pens! Paint! Markers! Various books! So many things to ogle at! But what's making me write a review? The service - WOW! Top notch! There was someone to greet you at the door. I was asked twice if I needed help finding anything. I was carrying a couple sheets of poster board and I was even offered to have them kept at the front while I continued to shop. i spend all my money here. It's a teacher store and they have many different varieties of borders, papers, activities, and children books for students. You can use different types of activities to differentiate instruction. It is a bit pricey here however you know what you're going to get in their return policy is great. This place makes me want to have a kid! or be a teacher! My teacher-friend and I had mad errands to run the week before school starts, and this was one of the stops. Supplies for teaching, the classroom, art supplies, construction paper, plastic money, and so many cool toys and learning supplies! I noticed a few customers just brought their children in for educational toys; brilliant idea. Alex impressed us with such great service and knowledge of every item they carry. We asked for a chest, and he showed us this really cool treasure chest. He assisted me with the laminating machine, my first time ever using one, and now I'm an expert! Great place for teachers and parents to find educational materials in a cleanly and inviting storefront. They've recently added technology options that were once lacking. You can always find a place to park and the staff here is helpful. The Lakeshore logo is on almost everything in the place and they does bother me a bit in that I find the place a bit over commercial even if that means it has good lighting and clean aisles. It's not the biggest or least expensive teacher supply store I've been to. However, it's by far the most convenient for westsiders. read more

I needed to find certain materials to work with an older student on social skills. I want to thank Janeen for her personable and professional help in finding some workbooks I could use. Great smile, sincere, smart and tuned in. It's not easy to find what I needed without going on line. And I want to hold and SEE the materials 'in person.' Lakeshore has books, supplies, and educational toys for most needs. Mike, the manager, is doing a great job in making Lakeshore the best place to shop for school or child development supplies. It is a colorful, bright and clean store, well organized. And the staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. This is a great educational supply store. I have missed some stores that have long closed that were educational based. This is my Westside answer. Recommended by my daughters teacher we went here and the kids went crazy. We have gotten so many things here. We love arts and crafts, and being in girl scouts we often come here for supplies. Yes, things can be expensive at times, but some things are not so bad, and its so convenient with a great easy parking lot. Plus I get coupons by email now. They also have fun events on weekends you can take the kids too. You should really check this out if you haven't already, just to walk through the place. What a GREAT store! I've driven by it a few times but never had a reason (excuse) to drop by... until today. We needed Gold Stars(literally) for an award at work and I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted... but couldn't find big enough stickers at work, at Staples, or at Target . Lakeshore didn't have the perfect stickers I was imagining, but they had something close enough... I also spent a good amount of time on the phone (in a meeting, yay) while perusing the aisles---they have so much good stuff! It almost makes me wish I was a teacher (or a home schooling mom... or a tutor?) so that I could buy workbooks and activity sheets and books and educational toys and craft supplies and... (should I go on?) Super friendly customer service (I got the friendly vibes even while on the phone) and easy parking (lots are heaven in LA). They also have a membership card (for free) with a 15% discount... I couldn't justify signing up for another card knowing I probably won't be back in a while, but maybe one day, I will! read more

This is a wonderful place to buy toys for kids of all ages. Most of the toys serve a purpose rather than some mindless game (emphasis on most!) There are tons of teaching tools as well. I absolutely love Lakeshore! I am a preschool teacher & I love all the materials they have here. It's hard to walk in here and just buy one thing. Every time I go to Lakeshore, I get sucked in and walk the entire store multiple times because I feel like I've missed something. I've been to this location only once. I normally go to the one in Pasadena but this one seems a bit bigger. There's free parking that's big enough since it seems to get busy on some days. I came on a Sunday afternoon just before closing and it was pretty busy but they had enough staff to accommodate everyone. Will definitely come back here when I'm in the area. read more

I went there two days ago to get my 4 Year old some flash cards to learn his sight words. I have beard of the store but that was my first time going inside. I really liked the selections, it was really good. So much educational toys that they wouldn't even know they were learning. The science section was amazing too! I left with a plant and some preserved bugs for him to use his magnifying glass on. I think I outdid myself this year. I almost want to give it to him now. I am very impressed. read more

Came across this new location and what a Delight! My husband and I were shopping for our grandchildren and saw great gifts ranging from toys to books and art supplies. We picked out art supplies from the friendly staff and they insisted on wrapping the gifts for us since we were in a little hurry to a birthday party and how happy we were about that, made our day really bright! The really nice gentleman named Michael who I believe is the general manager even insisted on carrying our heavy items to the car, he even insisted on rearranging our junk in the car to make more room for the stuff we bought. I like Lakeshore, I don't love Lakeshore, I just like it :) Honestly, I wouldn't go here if my school did not have an account with them and I had to pay for everything myself. Some of the stuff is really expensive!!! In my opinion, educational toys should be free or cheap so EVERY CHILD can assess them.
