I signed up for a Sunday class on the Super Bowl day. Yes! Why watch the game if you don't have to. :) and the studio was amazing. I brought my idea and the owner Ally walked me through how to make it happen. I have zero experience in landscape painting. I've done murals and still life drawings but this is my first time tackling this new subject matter. I enjoyed the personalized instruction. Ally was very skilled and very light hearted. The two hour flew by and I learned a lot from color theory to just the basic brush techniques. If you want to truly learn how to paint, this is the place and I highly recommend their workshops. I will be going back and maybe with my kids next time. Thank you Ally for a wonderful workshop. read more

Upon walking in, the younger lady working was very sweet! I called and asked to bring a friend who was not painting out of courtesy to see if it was okay, I was told yes. Then we get there and said IN FRONT OF my friend the lead person there said "usually we don't allow this, we thought you were painting" (terribly rude.). You have to pay for your canvas once your there, after paying for the class. Do not book here unless you actually have some painting experience because they expect that. They didn't lead a session in any way, essentially they print out the picture of what you want and your on your way. I could do that at home... I had to continuously ask for guidance and next steps. It was essentially an open paint session. They don't know how to manage that amount of people. They taught me absolutely nothing and my piece came out terrible. Terrible vibes all around, they aren't nice. I left feeling upset, which is not something that should happen when paying for an art class. Would not go here. Waste of time and money. read more

The owner is unreliable. Signed my kids up for winter camp and we showed up to the place closed. The owner called to let me know they didn't know my kids were signed up and did not have any staff that day. Apologized and so we came back the next day instead. She offer to make it up by inviting us back the following Tuesday and when we show up the place was closed again. This is after driving 25mins to get there. Called to them were never answered and they never called back with a reason. Extremely unprofessional and we will never be back. read more

I feel like my post is similar to reviews below mine. I understood that it was more of an "open paint" session. However, I constantly had to ask for colors, nobody checked up on me, I had to ask for new water, etc. I guess I was embarrassed I brought a friend who had tried oil for the first time, and there wasn't even a quick overview of brushes or strokes. AND, nobody helped me until the last 5 minutes of the session, and the class wasn't that full. Paint and Wine is more educational! read more

Painted two evenings here for the bites and brushes. The cheese and wine are ample, seating plenty, and instruction sufficient. I was hoping to learn just a little more about the actual art, er, science of painting? Still, each time I walked out with slightly recognizable creations that I was proud to show off! I would suggest making sure your belongings are not close to the painting area. The lady next to me spilled her brush with red paint onto my light tan bag, twice. I was told sticking it under the table should protect it, and learned I was wrong. Compared to other paint nights with similar places, Paint Lab is local, consistent, and I think it's better for a super casual, more drinking type of evening. It's a great way to get people who retort "I can't paint" to join you and realize, yes, with the right place, people, and mindset, they can! Fun place to hang and paint. read more

Attended a Bites & Brushes with a Groupon. I made my reservation the day of but would recommend calling a few days in advance. The free parking lot out front is a bit small but I didn't have any issues on a Sunday afternoon. My class was small, only about 8 people, and there were plenty of easels and spots for everyone. Tony did a great job keeping our paints full and water clean. He set out a table of salami, cheese, vegetables & dip, grapes and strawberries. Refreshments were delicious, but I was so focused on my painting, I didn't get to partake as I normally would with freebie food! There was an option of red or white wine and we even received an extra refill. The painting session was pretty straightforward and the instructor made sure we had plenty of time to follow each step. They played music and kept the ambiance laid-back and fun. I've also participated in an Open Paint here in which you buy a canvas of your choice, they provide the paint and brushes, and you can paint whatever you want for as long as you want. Tony helped me then and made me feel welcome and made sure I had everything I needed. This is a really great option for those who want a zero-pressure experience and feel comfortable painting on their own. Great for kids too. In addition to various canvases, they also sell all kinds of paints, brushes, snacks and drinks, and paintings. A great place to relax and hang out with some paint! read more

LOVE it here. I started attending Paint Lab workshops in 2022 when I wanted to revisit my artistic roots. I used to paint and draw frequently, but I'm not "formally trained," so to speak. The thing I love most about painting here is the community. I've made friends with other studio goers and have talked all things arts and crafts with many people I've met along the way. I've learned a lot from multiple members of the staff--things that I would not really understand outside of a more formal art class, like the effects of light and shadows for oil painting and how to really create something lifelike. The open paint and instruction-based oil/acrylic workshop are a good value, in my opinion. Painting supplies are super expensive, especially at a place like Blick, so to be able to come here and pay to have some assistance, find a little community, and exercise my own creativity has really been amazing for me. I've gotten back into my artistic roots with other mediums, too! Sometimes it will be months between my sessions, but I always walk in and feel like family. read more

My husband was interested in learning to paint so I signed him up for the general painting class thinking he would get to try and learn about different kinds of painting- oil, acrylic, water, etc. What the class ended up being was basically supervised open studio time. He was told to pick something he wanted to paint and just paint it. Not very educational or helpful for a "class". He said he enjoyed himself but I would recommend to anyone interested to just go to the open studio time and save your money. read more

I like the new location, although I can't speak for any issues with sun/heat during the day because I visited during an evening for Painting and wine/cheese. I imagine they will install some heat-resistant sun shades if they have not already. We used the Travel Zoo deal for painting, wine and cheese and had a nice time. This is definitely a good date activity or bonding activity in general (girlfriends, co-worker retreat, siblings/parents). The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. They kept the wine, cheese and fruit flowing and routinely checked in with each student to see if the water needed changing out, paints refreshed, etc. This really is an interesting social exercise. Half the fun is walking around to see what the other students created and how many cool ways there are to look at and render the same thing. You don't have to be a creative type to enjoy this and you will probably surprise yourself by the end of the lesson. read more

Had a great time at Paint Lab during their Picasso Painting Class. I have puchased this activity through travel zoo and called them to schedule this activity ahead of time. (They were full for 3 weeks) Street Parking after 6pm is free in most streets around. You paint, get some cheese and wine and paint again for 3 hours. You get to go home with your master piece and the time passed without thinking of nothing else than how good it is to paint. Recommended! read more

I LOVE this place!!! I had the pleasure of planning a bachelorette/bridal shower weekend for one of my best friends I reached out to PaintLab and Jarryd and his team were awesome! They were very prompt with phone calls and especially emails. I like to communicate via email because then there's no ambiguity as to what one should expect. There was one last minute changes (quite complicated) and I emailed Jarryd asking him if the change could be accommodated and he emailed me right back to confirm. Spectacular! We were provided with aprons and sat next to each other and across from each other so we could all converse for the duration of the session. The teacher was very thorough, and we all had such a fun time. There was plenty of cheeses, crackers and fruits to start off the evening as well. The service was so attentive, they kept our drinks refilled throughout the entire evening, as well as replacing water for our brushes and napkins etc. to make the event even more fun I had bought everyone pink berets and matching tanks to channel our inner artist. ;) Thank you so much Paint:Lab for amazing time! There is a short window for refunds, but they will let you reschedule. Also you apparently have to print out the voucher otherwise you cannot get in (this lead to a lot of confusion since we didn't know beforehand). The instructed class offered less guidance compared to a similar class I've taken at another place, so I'm not sure if I would recommend it to beginners. It's also triple the amount we paid last time and the artwork selection is more limited. However they serve wine and appetizers (cheese, crackers, salami, olives, etc.) which of course helped make the class more fun. That was my favorite part. read more

I came in early on a Sunday, because I was participating in a study here. The would be filming our eyes to see our reactions to painting. After parking in the free lot, we check in at the front desk. I told the lady I what I was there for. She seemed kind of annoyed and sent us to the back room. In exchange for being a participant, we were each given an easel and canvas to paint at no charge. After the logistics were taken care of we got to work on our masterpieces. Everyone was nice enough, but they seemed very keen on moving us along to finish. But they did a good job at refilling our paint and changing the water. I was also advised we would get a painting lesson, but that didn't happen. I had a pretty good time, but probably won't return. The staff didn't seem to care much for our presence. read more

How fun is this place!! Came for one of the wine and paint nights with a few of my girlfriends and painted (or rather attempted to paint) waterfalls. The instructor was great and did his best to help assist me (a not-so-artsy type). We learned how to mix colors and he guided us along the way with techniques and a step by step on how to paint. Unfortunately I don't think I will be a budding painter anytime soon, but it was a fun night with light appetizers (cheese, crackers, and fruit) and a choice of red or white wine during the painting. I had a really amazing night tonight with our teacher, Terry! We started a bit late, probably around 6:20pm, waiting for others to come in. It's my first ever sip and paint and because of this, I'd want to do it again. My person really liked the output of my painting (even though it really was not great compared to others'). Terry was super nice; he was very encouraging. He gave us some good suggestions as we went but he still gives us the power to do whatever with our art. Lisa and the entire staff at Paint Lab are wonderful! It is a glorious space with two huge studios. My 11 year old son has been going for two years and loves it! They usually work with a known or established artist or painting to inspire the lesson of the day and the kids come home with canvass or two that they worked on. Cubism, impressionistic you name. After paying for the experience & the canvas, the unlimited paint & brushes, wine, cheese, crackers, & other snacks were included. You could do an instructed art class(or uninstructed for half the price). I definitely recommend this! We decided to do uninstructed. This is a review for a unique birthday event, which included cheese, wine and painting a Monet. The Paint Lab set up all the necessary items: easel, canvas, paint brushes, water, paint and of course, wine. The instructor was nice and taught step by step at a reasonable pace. We were painting for approximately 3 hours. In addition, the staff walked around and refilled our paint and changed our waters often. It was relaxing (or was it the wine). I was also very focused on trying to recreate the amazing Monet. The birthday girl painted as well, but also walked around to socialize and enjoy the wine and cheese. At the end of the session, we got to keep our Monet. Our paintings were great conversational pieces. Come here is you want a relaxing, down to earth event that requires the right side of your brain, but still want to enjoy the wine. read more

My Kindergarten son recently started taking the Thursday after school sessions at Paint Lab, and it has been a wonderful and enriching experience for him! The teachers and staff are so kind and helpful to him as well as keeping me informed in what they did that day and his progress.
