This is my 2nd time visiting this location. The first time was just okay, not super customer service driven but it didn't completely make me feel uneasy. On to today, We were greeted with a friendly hello by team members at the cashier area. As we were lookin through the novelty area, we were asked was there anything that we needed, we smiled and said thank you, no. Two minutes later, there were associates hovering around us as if we were going to scurry away with the miniature animals and or the pocket sized note pads. It was totally obvious that they were suspicious of us, and that made me feel completely uncomfortable. Because there are several items listed on my list to purchase for a few privately taught students, I felt as though my money would be better spent elsewhere. There is an atmosphere of "unwanted" in this specific location, I felt it before but ignored it. This time I cannot, therefore I will not return nor recommend it to friends, family or social media. Corporate, please find a better way to police your customers, not one "group" but all who enter. read more

Let me start this by first saying I visited this location last month and had a completely opposite experience. Today makes me not want to patronize Blick at all if this is how their employees are taught to treat customers. When I walked in, a group of employees gathered near the cash registers in front greeted me and my friend. Cool. Or so I thought. 2 minutes didn't even pass before an employee asked how we were and if we needed help with anything. Ok. Or so I thought. After asking, the employee continued to hover around us in the background. Followed by another and another. Until it felt like they all made their way to the area me and my friend were in. Mind you, we didn't even make it past the display in the front of the store. I counted 4 employees until we felt so uncomfortable being watched that we left while being greeted by yet another employee walking over. I don't know what that was about but me and my friend didn't feel welcomed or like trusted customers. We will not be returning to this location or any others in the future, if this is their baseline treatment of paying customers now. read more

First time at this location. A bit smaller than the one I usually go to in Hollywood but still well stocked. Didn't find what I was looking for but I went in probably look for the impossible. Would definitely revisit. read more

Staff was very helpful, I frist I thought that I was being followed. Unfortunately I was, however I turned that around on her.

The staff at Blick was kind, friendly, and helpful. I needed supplies for my new charcoal figure drawing class and Blick had everything on my required supplies list. Good value. They offer specials for their "members" which is easy to sign up for free. It was easier to purchase my supplies in person at Blick than using Amazon. read more

Blick is chill but this is a professional artist store. You just starting out you broke you go to Ross or Michaels. They do sell high end stuff for cheaper but it's cheap off expensive in th first place so. Have fun window shopping. Even clearance is just normal priced. Yea you better know what you're doing if you shop here is all. But they got the best stuff. read more

The staff is super friendly and helpful. I had no issues finding the large newsprint paper or drawing pads. Everything I needed was in stock. They also offer student discounts so you really get your money's worth. The parking on the side is a bit tight but there's more parking behind the building. read more

Good reliable Art supplies. Would like it if there was a few broader selections of paint and Waterford(Saunders) watercolor paper.

I love this store, I damn near get an art-attack every visit from all the supplies! I want absolutely everything! The staff are knowledgeable and kind. The availability and variability of brands and products are not lacking. Their organization is immaculate for so many small items, and they're all categorized in their aisles in an insightful way. Thanks, team! read more

Under staffed always have to wait around. Employees are nice but aren't helpful at all. Really only option on West side for art supplies that's the only reason people go here read more

john is the absolute best!! so helpful and knowledgeable. i will travel across town to shop at this location because of him!

Have always loved this store and all the others but the other day was met with my first experience of the "Gen Z stare" by the young woman behind the counter. I ventered a little friendly feedback, got stared right through and asked: "Who is this for?" as though the very concept of a response to the vague and disinterested 'find everything ok?' was novel. This bizarre interaction was so strange that even my Gen Z kid was shocked along with me: "Well SHE could not have seemed any less interested in anything" she noted on our way out. I hope this is not something that Blick makes room for in their staff's style. I have always found the staff to be wonderful, friendly and game to help. This was so off-putting, it has stayed with me for days. read more

The customer service at the store is horrific. I arrived at the store literally four minutes before they opened, and I was fully prepared to wait for the opening. I was just standing outside and one of the employees was reporting to work and he goes, "We're not open yet." in the rudest way. ummm good morning to you too. I wasn't even trying to get into the store or say anything to him. I will probably not come back to this location again just because of this incident. read more

If you are looking for art supplies Blick is the place to go on the westside. They have several locations but this is the one I frequent most. I've been buying art supplies here for years and they always have what I'm looking for. The staff are helpful and since they are usually artists themselves, they know what they are talking about. Sometimes I like to come here just to wonder the aisles, I find nothing as inspirational as an art supply store LOL They have all different levels of materials and price points so if you're a professional artist, a student or a hobbyist you can find what you need in your budget. There is a parking lot that wraps around the building so parking is usually not a problem and there is a great mural on the wall! Plus, Blick has a free preferred customer program, if something is on sale on their website you pay that price! And students get a 10% discount so bring your ID. read more

I love this store! They have every art supply. I go to Michael's but nothing in comparison to Blicks. read more

I'm feeling guitly because I lost track of writing this review. I went to Blick on Lincoln Ave. back on December 23rd to look for a pen and parchment to write my kid a note from Santa Claus. A risky business to be sure, but he had asked for a replica of little stuffed animal he cherishes that he's had since he was 4. The ask was a near impossibility since we don't know the exact origins of said doll. We did get lucky and found a very close replica on Etsy that we decided to pawn off as the brother of the little doll. Cut to Blick - I arrived a dumbfounded dad hoping to figure out a way to have Santa explain, in letter form, to my young, loving child, that this little tiny creature was indeed the long lost brother of his beloved doll. With the help of a young, mid-20's guy with dark hair (the name escapes me lo these many moons later and far too many glasses of wine since that fated day) He might have been the manager on duty as I vaguely recall. I was able to find the right red pen and perfect Santa Claus-esque paper stock that brought tears of joy to my childs face on Christmas morning. Going the extra mile, I asked the kid if he could write the note for my kid since my handwriting would be an obvious killer to the joy that is Santa Claus. He happily agreed and wrote a perfect little note letting my lovely little kiddo that this doll was indeed the brother of his perfect little fuzzy pal and to please take extra speciall care of him for all time. It was the perfect, magical touch that made this Christmas perhaps one of the most memorable in my childs life thus far. read more

Excellent Art store, that's well supplied , plus a very knowledgeable staff, we highly reccomend this art store.

My friend suggested Blick for my new sculpting hobby. They have so many amazing art supplies, it's great! Great prices, friendly staff. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I've been going here for years and staff that used to be nice and helpful have become rude and condescending. There is one young gentleman in particular. But I do go on occasion still to see if anything has changed. Or if they are having a special sale. But as someone mentioned, with Amazon readily available and Jerry's which will ship and is less expensive, you'd think they would monitor their colleagues behavior a bit better. read more

Shout out to Tim. Tim was great at helping me find what I needed. Tim is very knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you.

Staff sucked, social distancing sucked, lighting sucked Staff wasn't helpful to me or others, one staff member told a customer he was helping he would be right back but as he walked away and past me he whispered(no I won't). For a art store there is no lighting, the lights are way above the shelving and don't make it down into the aisles..... how can you shop for colors when there is poor lighting? I mean they cover up their windows on top of it as to let as little light in as possible. The aisles are also full of people inches from each other wondering around with no help.... at the registers the customers have to pass within inches of each other to exit, and in line the employees pass within inches of the customers in order to get behind the front desk and registers, they brushed me as they walked by!! I just wanted to get out of there and not go back, I left without a receipt knowing I probably wasn't going to use what I bought read more

I shopped at your store many times and liked that they had great products and I am only three blocks away. It was my local art store. This will be the last time I shop there. There's no need to be sarcastic and condescending to patrons. I'm not a professional artist, but to ask a simple question to get the proper materials for my son's art project I had to deal with two people, completely unwilling to help, with one sarcastic and really a bit condescending. I doubt this review will have any impact. Hopefully it will warn others to go someplace else if they want to be treated like a valued customer or just a regular human. I had ignored similar complaints about this place in years past, but I guess today it's true. I will say in the past some employees were super helpful. Not today. Thankfully, there's Amazon. It comes to the rescue despite my attempt to shop local. On a sidenote, this place welcome to people without masks inside shopping, so that may also iinfluence your shopping choices. read more

I decided that I wanted to do an art project and wanted to purchase the materials I need for my creative endeavor. They have a parking lot which is a bonus since I have yet to figure out parallel parking. No one greeted me when I walked in and after wandering around for a while and feeling overwhelmed I went to the front to ask for help. The associate called for someone to come assist me. I explained that I wanted a mixed media pad that had black paper that would work for pastels. Then I wanted to see their pastel section and select a set and then also purchase the setting spray so my art would not smudge. He was patient and listened to what I wanted and gave helpful suggestions. They lost stars with the checkout and what I realized when I got home with my new purchases. I'll give them benefit of the doubt this time and a 3 but if future trips continue along this path then they are a 2 star. I had seen they had a locked case with pastel sets and while most were over my budget I saw one was marked down with a yellow sticker price of $56 for a set of 48 colors. That's a huge bargain considering the Blick brand pastel set of 30 colors was going to be $69. So I went up to the front to ask for someone to open the case. I told the guy which set I wanted and he unlocked the case and pointed to the set so I grabbed it. I then waited in line and purchased all of my items. I asked the cashier at checkout as she rang up the items to make sure that the pastels were the ones on sale for $56 and she said yes. My fault that I didn't see the screen or check my receipt before leaving the store - when I got home I saw the pastel set of 48 I purchased was obviously not the $56 one I asked for but instead one that was $119. I received some kind of web rebate of $29 on my total purchase so I can pretend that I only spent $90 on a super fancy pastel set but I found that extremely disappointing to realize that I didn't get the bargain set of 48 for $56. Not worth the trouble to return to the store and I was excited to begin my project so I went on and opened my new set. On the positive side, the pastels are smooth and lovely - but then again, for that price I would expect them to be amazing. Lesson learned to look at the receipt before leaving the store because obviously the cashier just said yes and ignored my actual question and I should have paid attention to how much I spent. Let's just hope the project turns out beautifully because at that price...eek. read more

Once I found this real Art Store, I knew I had come to an excellent resource for all my needs under one roof. I had set out to purchase a presentation book for a client. I knew exactly what one I wanted, but after stopping at two places And no success in finding the right one, I was completely saddened...until I rolled up on Blick! Much to my delight did I find ample selection and more! As a photographer I am always looking for economical ways to frame my work and during my visit to Blick Art Supply I was made knowledgeable about the excellent framing services they featured. I was given some flyers that informed me of upcoming specials. I will definitely be shopping here in the weeks to come. The staff was particularly helpful and professional and I have recommended this real art supply store to several individuals already. read more

I've only used their framing service for my unusual collages. They worked with me to figure out the best wayn to frame them and did a beautiful job for a very fair price. I wnet to the store on Santa Monica Blvd. The only caveat to this location is the parking. There's only the street where available spaces are few and far between. read more

Great local art store- I come here for a lot of my supplies . So thankful they were open during the pandemic otherwise I would've gone crazy during the lockdown! All the staff here are like family too- Michelle, the manager, always is so nice and helpful. Thanks for the quality service read more

This interaction bugged me and stuck with me probably longer than it should have, but it's the second non positive interaction I've had in the framing department so here I am. 1st time I stood in Framing department at the table to inquire how much/ and the process of having a shadow box built for me . The first day, more than one employee walked by, without so much as a "can I help you" my daughter and I stood their patiently for a good 5 minutes trying to make eye contact with a single soul but it was as if everyone dodged that area. Today, the 2nd time I stood there not acknowledged again. Finally when I caught Ivan's attention I asked how much framing cost which he quickly answered "well it's extremely expensive" without telling me any other detail. I paused and asked "what does that mean, how much for a 4x4?" (honestly first dimension that popped into my head. "We don't do frames that small" to which I answered "okay how small do you go?" "We have frames around the corner" hmmm Firstly, I can't help but think it's generally pretty rude to answer a question about pricing with "it's too expensive" AND... what's the point there? I need to know the price not that some how it's assumed how much is too expensive for me. Is this how Ivan talks to all customers? Is everything "too expensive" ? That is just terrible customer service... how do items get sold? It was my 2nd time in a 2 day span being in that store. I've made purchases every time. 4th time since moving to Venice this month. I make art every single day as does my daughter. Art that sells. Art supplies that need to be replenished often. It's unfortunate that I'll be looking for a new store. read more

I participated in their first-ever Blick Mart 2018 event. All of the vendors were super nice, and the organizers were very helpful! The entire event was a success and thanks to Blick Art Materials; I was able to not only sell my artwork but share it with some really cool people. Thank you to Emery and Eddie at StankFaceArt and Blick for setting that up. Not to mention, the interior of the store features well-priced art supplies and an excellent discount if you sign up. When I first moved to LA, I was concerned about finding a new place to purchase art supplies. I come from Houston and always did business with Jerry's for their prices.
