I had a print framed here that I brought back from a trip to Asia. I was very happy with the final product and the quality of the work. The print is in my daughter's room, so we didn't use glass for safety purposes, but whatever they did use looks just like glass! I don't remember the name of the guy who helped me, but he was very pleasant. Their pricing was more than competitive. My print was quite an irregular size, and strangely enough Michaels was going to charge me almost double. I don't remember exactly how long it took to get the job done, but I don't remember it taking an unreasonable amount of time. I believe I was required to leave a deposit for half which seems fair. I love everything about this place -- the work, the ambience and this staff. I had bought some large mosaic pieces that needed mounting, to give as gifts. I called several framing places and they all admitted they wouldn't know how to handle it. One of them recommended Stone Art and I'm so glad she did. When I went there, I was impressed at how well they handled safety (masks, limited number of people allowed in at one time, etc). And they offered options that hadn't occurred to me: They mounted the mosaics on wood so that the gift recipient could make it a wall hanging or trivet. They are great. Everyone is very helpful at Stone Art. They've been patient, took the long time it took and kept suggesting different mat and frames combinations to come up with one I liked. Jason suggested offered different fabric and colors and came up with with the green shades double mat in the acrylic box for the Agam shown in the picture. Jamie came up with the brown & green double mat and frame all in excellent proportions for the R Kuhlmann abstract with the original title and signature in windows below the art, and a shaped spacer to keep distance between the art and the glass, for depth, as I wanted. Somehow the framer/s managed to fit it all in the frame! Roy and the framer got involved when I was concerned it would fit, and promised it would. Velvet picked a great blue frame to compliment an Agam abstract. The framing was done expertly. I'm very pleased. read more

I had a large lithograph framed here, and I found both the service and the actual framing to be impeccable. I had two people very patiently helping me, showing me different options and helping me pick out the perfect matting/frame combo that would compliment the piece and the details in the art. I took about 45 minutes selecting my items, and not once did I feel rushed or pressured. In fact, I had a lot of fun and learned quite a lot! As for pricing, I was shown all the options and differences in cost/benefit were clearly explained. In the end, the price was comparable to Aaron Brother's, but with much better service and materials. I'll definitely be back with all my future framing needs! read more

Roy Stone is a miracle worker! Stone Art is the place to go if you need something framed in Los Angeles. Excellent customer service, impeccable workmanship, and fair prices. Here's the story... My boss had a badly damaged frame that he needed repaired. I spoke with my friend, who works at a gallery, and he told me there was no way to fix it, the damage was too excessive. Nevertheless, I brought it in to Stone Art, on recommendation, and Roy himself was skeptical that it could be fixed. The other option was to replace the frame. After diligent work searching for the correct frame, Roy and his staff found it, but my boss decided that he wanted to keep the original frame. Roy asked his frame repair guy to take a look at it. He also had his guy lower the price considerably as a favor (you won't get customer service like that elsewhere in LA, trust me!). A little over a week later, the frame was completed and it looked BETTER THAN BEFORE! I mean it when I say Roy and his staff are miracle workers. Best framers in LA, hands down! read more

I'm very happy to report another good experience at Stone Art--this time with a large lithograph and 4 small drawings. I wanted to use a frame on the large litho that I'd used on another previous order with them; they keep records on all your orders in their system, so it only took a minute to look up the specs. Very helpful! The four small drawings required some special framing--odd margins, off-center mounting--and the people at Stone Art were true pros at handling everything. Once again, they gave great advice and were patient while we went through multiple frame and mat colors before deciding on the perfect look. We were even able to use a few pre-made frames, keeping costs very low, and replace the glass with UV Plexi (museum glass is also an option, but more expensive). I was shocked at how low my final bill was. Make sure you check out their online coupons for great discounts. Also, they only require 50% to get your order started and 50% upon pick up, which is great for those of us who like to space our big purchases out over a couple months. My frames were ready about a week after estimated, but still it only took 3 weeks. Love this place! read more

I purchased a very heavy stained glass light box from artist Megan Geer-Alsop at the Topanga Canyon Studio Tour. It sat on my living room floor for weeks. I didn't know how to display it on my wall. Fed up of looking at the art on my floor, I finally took it into Stone Art. The employees were so knowledgeable. They attached a heavy duty cable to the back. In addition, they gave me a special nail that I needed to secure it to my wall to help it stay up even in an earthquake. So I wanted to avoid mainstream frame stores because I ordered a classic movie poster from eBay and it wasn't exactly cheap. This place looked good on Yelp so I went there this morning. Jason, the lead designer, greeted me and was beyond helpful, knowledgeable, and full of ideas. I will admit the process seemed overwhelming at first because, well, I'm a particular guy, and I don't hold back when I don't like something so this had to look good. Jason walked me through the type of frame, the fabric to go between the frame and the poster, and even matched up a really cool border for the fabric that matched the frame! It won't be ready for a little under 2-weeks (all in for a really cool frame, fabric, border and museum-quality plexiglass I spent about $1,300), and I can't wait until I pick it up. And that price included a 20% discount from a Yelp coupon. Overall, a very pleasurable experience. read more

Had been walking by this store on trips to Santa Monica over the past two years. It was always closed as I was up and about getting breakfast in the area. In the window they display a featured artist Rodger Bigg who does fabulous beach landscapes / everyday life type of stuff. Needing a birthday for for my daughter I called down on a Friday asking what they had in stock from Bigg - within 3 minutes photos of the work had been texted to me, selection made, credit card processed - all good in my eyes. I had a need and they instantly fulfilled it. They even threw in a frame and retouched it to make the painting squeaky clean. It showed up on time in San Francisco a few days later and my daughter was thrilled with the surprise and memories of her time in Santa Monica. Well done Stone Art - you guys are great. read more

This store has it all: huge inventory plus a great selection of closeouts and sale items. Expert staff who know everything about matts, materials, manufacturing issues. Can-do attitude of "if you don't see it, we'll make it happen...no worries." I framed a big 5ft x 5ft piece with upgraded plexiglass and a very exotic frame plus linen matt that was quoated at $1300+ plus at another shop, but way less at StoneArt. Roy, the owner, is right in the shop and accessible and friendly. You can see the frame-makers working right there---no outsourcing to another firm with a mark-up. Winner! read more
