I was in search of an art store and found this place on Google. It was the closest to my house so I decided to go there instead of driving all the way downtown. I called just to make sure they had what I was looking for and the guy over the phone was extremely helpful and put it on hold for me until I could arrive. He spoke with me over the phone as I was not sure what I was looking for and told me what they had in their store that could be of my liking. Once I arrived at the store he had it waiting for me with my name written on it. Although it was not what I was looking for the customer service was above and beyond. This place is really well organized. it has so many art supplies and the service there is great because they're all very helpful even though there was only two people working. After two framing shops gave me the old "let's complicate this until it costs more than the thing getting framed" routine, I was ready to give up. Enter: my neighbor--the hippy dippy paint-splattered oracle--who told me about Graphaids, where he gets all his gallery jobs done. From the second I walked in, Ryan and Jose made the experience feel less like a chore and more like an art school hangout with two incredibly knowledgeable and charming dudes. They were patient, clear, and transparent about pricing (which as refreshing and a rare and beautiful thing in the custom framing world). The quote was the best I had been offered, and they were all heart. While hanging out, my kids wandered the aisles and found modeling clay, crafts and drawing books galore! I was able to find some of my favorite Staedtler Mars markers (yes, those!) and calligraphy pens. Fast forward to mid-week, Ryan personally called to say the framing was done. The finished piece was stunning. The memorabilia looked phenomenal: the frame was subtle, elegant, and did its job without stealing the spotlight. The artwork popped. Stopped by for the first time today in search of some montana cans and was not disappointed! The owners are super friendly and the selection is impeccable with awesome prices for art supplies. I may be biased because all the art stores in the San Fernando Valley are overpriced, but I was more than amazed by how reasonable the prices were. Selection is great and it's fairly easy to find everything. If you're a Montana head you'll appreciate the display case by the spraypaint-- so cool to see the limited edition Retna piece on display, that can is hard to find anywhere! Whether you're a painter, street artist, or illustrator, this place is great for replenishing stock without breaking your wallet too hard! Definitely worth the drive! read more

Great arts supply store. My only beef is the way they have closed themselves off from the street. For someone walking by on Washington Blvd, this storefront appears vacant. The windows are all blacked out and the original front door is permanently locked. Customers are required to enter via the car parking lot. This is a big F.U. to the streetscape and an otherwise vibrant, walkable neighborhood. No surprise my family had no idea this place existed, even though we live just a few blocks away. So car-centric. So L.A. Some small changes would make this place so much more welcoming and would surely increase sales. read more

I usually research prices and consistently go back to Graphaids because they always have the best price and I already know I like shopping there. Anything you might need/want they have it, and it's in a very convenient location. There are 3 employees I see every time I go and they're all super helpful and knowledgeable. The store is quiet and neat so it's very calming to shop there(for me at least). All in all they're my favorite art supply store in LA&SFV. read more

I heard about this place from local artist Ilana Bloch and have been frequenting for about a year. They have a great selection & can order things not available. All the staff are friendly & helpful. Jose can help you with prints, scan, & framing! He's great! If you are a student or professional you can likely get a discount. They have some kids art supplies & it's a much easier trip than Michael's. The website could use some love. Not super user friendly, but they are pretty good about answering emails & Instagram queries. During the pandemic it's been a great place to order & pick up from an an outside garage/warehouse environment. They also deliver, but haven't tried yet. I've always found parking. The back is better for fast pick up, but there's also street metered parking. I'd say this is Blick with character & great people! read more

This place is a total gem! Their customer service blew me away. I called around town and finally found the large sized canvas that I needed but when I got there I realized it was barely too large to fit into my car. Gary (the nicest!) noticed and offered to help me get it to my apartment in their drop-off route and I don't know what I would have done without his help! I first came to Graphaids to print some pieces for a memorial service and was met with nothing but kindness and compassion. As a novice I needed quite a bit of guidance for the best method to honor my friend. Ryan recommended prints on velvet (water colour) paper. The quality was beautiful and I decided to come back for other prints a few weeks later. Jose has been helping me and guiding me through the best printing process for each piece I send. I'm using Procreate for digital free-hand renderings so it's been important to me to be able to see the details come through the printing. They offer high quality large format printing on a variety of paper stocks for a super reasonable price. I recently got an illustration printed and framed here for about $90.00. The first time I enter a store and get treated like dirt, I forgive. Maybe it's a bad day. Second time...Huh -maybe they don't focus too much on customer service. Third? F-this place! There are other art stores around. I am sorry your art career didn't take off 20 years ago, but don't take it out on me. The two stars are for the stock. They carry almost everything. Perhaps if I were prepared for the condescending attitude before walking into the store I could have just made my purchase and left. I am a professional framer and have my own suppliers, however sometimes I need things in a hurry. It sure would be nice to be able to go less than two miles to the La Cienega store and be done with it. Too bad. I'll never go there again. read more

Someone previously reviewed this place regarding their lack of sculptural tools. She's right. This place is not for sculptors. Thumbs up for architects and designers. During the pandemic, after the first week or so, the other art supply store a couple of blocks from my apt stopped their curbside service and closed. I was desperate for paper and ordered paper from Amazon and 2 weeks later it still hadn't arrived. I had practically started painting my walls! Then, I discovered Graphaid was open. I was ecstatic. Now then, the supplies - this is the place to go for drafting, drawing, painting, modeling (architectural and sculptural), graphic design and books. They layout is slightly confusing at first but it doesn't take long to catch on and find everything (you were going to go through the whole place aisle by aisle searching for the inspiration for that next big project anyway, admit it).
