I was looking for a local art store that wasn't too far from where I lived. I usually visit Blick Art Materials, an absolutely amazing store, but it was simply too far and I thought Graphaids would be my next best choice. I should have listened to all the negative reviews about this place because they are absolutely right. Upon entering the store, there were debris, boxes, markers, etc all over the floor just to my left. No sign whatsoever advising customers to watch their step. Shelves were mostly empty as if no one took care to restock on certain products. There was only me and one other person in the store at the time, and NO ONE offered any assistance whatsoever. The sales associates were gossiping among themselves as if I wasn't even in the room! If that didn't make matters worse, their prices are absolutely TERRIBLE!!! They charge 3 times the price at Blick for the same item! For instance, I was looking at Arches Watercolor paper in which they charge $70 for the same size where at Blick offered for $35 regularly! And Blick also has weekly coupons too! I am appalled on how anyone would shop at this PATHETIC store. Normally, I would spend about $100 per visit whenever I visit an art store, and believe me, I have visited many. This is my first time in ALL my life where I actually left an art store completely empty-handed because of bad service and outrageous prices!! I normally don't write reviews, but I felt really compelled to write this from the horrible service I received. In short, Graphaids SUCK!! STAY AWAY AND GO TO BLICK!! read more

The selection wasn't bad, prices were okay. I did get told by an employee a price for an item, went to the register and was told a different price. I let the cashier know about the price that was given to me first & he just seemed confused & did nothing to check if I was told that price or not. It's holidays season so I didn't have time to sit and argue about a price so I just paid and left. All it would have taken is 15 seconds to ask the other employee about the price and you would of had a better review. read more

This is one of the greatest art supply stores I've ever seen. First of all my boys Newkon and CkaweekS painted the back of the store and El Mac and Retna rocked the street side with the freshness. Inside I found rows and rows of amazing art products at very reasonable prices. The selection was incredible and they got paint for all your graffiti needs. The staff was super helpful. We even placed a phone order that was ready to go and waiting right next to the cash register with our name on the box. They even had bags of M&Ms for free at the register as their way of saying thanks for coming to the spot! I will be back indeed! GRAPHAIDS IS LEGIT!!!!!!! read more

Great deals with students discount and stuff are on sale for art classes. Near West LA College.

Best art supply store in Los Angeles. They have everything. Staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly. Fair prices. Bulk deals. Great selection of paint and markers. read more

Great selection of Art Supplies, but I won't be going there for prints ever again. They knew it was urgent but failed to call me to tell me it was ready. When I saw that the simple scan/enlarge and print job was completely botched and had to be redone, I walked out. Sloppy & Unprofessional work. read more

I come here for all my supplies. Pens, papers, inks, paints... all good quality and staff has been more then happy to assist in obtaining items that aren't regularly stocked, but it's best to know exactly what you want. The selection isn't the largest but it's the best in the area. read more

Great variety of spray paint and art supplies. Quality products, a little pricey but worth the buck.

This is a wonderful store. Very helpful staff and the prices are good. I was looking for paint brushes and the associate provided knowledgeable info about which ones worked best for my project. He stayed with us until we had what products were needed. I so appreciate exemplary customer service. read more

This place gets one star because of their supplies. It is possibly the most bottom feeding, worse, rude, pretentious customer service I have ever received. The employees won't even lift their heads to talk to you if at all. People are not rude but straight up *** holes to you. Sorry bra. It's not my fault you still make 9 dollars an hour and you're not a famous acrylic painter on the french riviera. This place absolutely sucks!!!!!!!!!! Go somewhere else... read more

Shopped here for a job, Amazing customer service!!! Ran into an issue later on and he went out of his way to spend time with me helping me fix something that wasn't his problem. Super friendly, great service, thanks so much! read more

This place has an absolutely amazing selection of art supplies! It's staff are all super helpful and nice and knowledgeable about the store supplies. The prices of it's items are good and fair. Definitely would go back again for more supplies! read more

Jose is the BEST; the rest of the staff is great; the selection of material is everything I need. This is my new go-to place for stuff, especially since the print job I ordered had a two-day turnaround when I expected a week. Keep up the good work guys! read more

totally, totally impressed. the customer service is excellent, the staff is knowledgeable, and the 30% student discount certainly doesn't hurt! i also highly recommend the online shopping feature--i ordered a drafting table with all the accessories at 8pm on thursday, they delivered and ASSEMBLED everything for a measly $25 at 1pm on friday. that's a huge deal for a student like me with little time to spare (and a short temper when it comes to build-it-yourself furniture). EDIT 5/25/05 gary koyama is THE graphaids go-to guy. if you need ANYthing, just email him (gkoyama [at] graphaids dot com). he'll email you back within a couple of hours and do pretty much whatever it takes to get you what you need. he's the one who helped me get my drafting table, and he just saved my butt again. who else would email me back on memorial day, when the store isn't even open, and have his framer hustle to get me the custom mats i need first thing the next morning? certainly not aaron brothers, or michaels, or any of a hundred other places. thank you graphaids, and thank you gary. you rule. read more

I've drove past this place for such a long time and never knew it was Graphaids! I''m happy with this location because it's right near my daily commute. The guys that work here are really knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I needed a Bienfang pad, but they were out of the size I needed. They offered to cut a larger pad and sell it to me for the price of the smaller pad I needed! That's great customer service, I will be coming back here for my art supplies needs. Oh, and they also offer discounts for students* (not sure if it was only for my school, but it doesn't hurt to ask). read more

Quiet store that finds a knack forge ping artists. I was looking for Posca Markers and they had very little. The staff is quick and to the point. Very little small talk. The store looks bigger than it actually is. And they are rather on the more expensive side.. Hmmm read more

Next to 33Third, this is the best shop to find your graffiti supplies in terms of selection. Not the best prices in town, but certainly good customer service and reliable stock. I wish they didn't close so early, but it's understandable considering they open earlier than most art supplies and synch most design-related business' working hours. read more

This place rocks- kimberly will do a great job! Prices are good and she is so cool. All the art supplies you could want as well.

This is by far the best art supply store in Los Angeles, and it has the best staff.. one that stands out the best is Kim Conrad.. she effing rocks and goes out of her way to make sure I am taken care of when I am there. best place hands down. Jose and JC are pretty awesome too. read more

I was recently in this store & was helped by a lady named, Kim Conrad. She was extremely knowledgable & more than willing to take the time to explain the different kinds of media available for my project at hand. I was impressed with her bubbly personality, patients, & professionalism. Kudos to Graphaids for employing such a wonderful staff & five stars to Kim Conrad. Due to her, you have a new fan & I'll definitely be referring my friends to your establishment. read more

Nice company that has the specialty supplies I need with wonderfully pleasant and knowledgeable employees. Reasonable prices too, definitely a go-to place for art needs. read more

I absolutely ADORE this place. They're conveniently located along a major bus route (Cuver City 1), which is important to those of us who use public transportation. They have all kinds of things for all kinds of different art: drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, drafting, office supplies, Epson and HP inks and papers (VERY important for me, who does a lot of digital art), and even some art-themed toys and games. I've found that the staff are always friendly and helpful. read more

This is a place where the pros shop. They know their stuff. They even have Letraset!

I am an interior designer and went to Graphaids this morning to look for a drafting table for my office. Not only did they have choices, but stock on some items (most places may have floor models, but then the item has to be ordered on-line). Unfortunately, the item I purchased was hard to assemble, and a piece broke in the process. I took it right back to the store and they exchanged it for the floor model that was already assembled. The manager, Njeri Mukuru was very accommodating , professional, and pleasant. I will definitely return for more items, as well as holiday gifts. read more

Graphaids is a GREAT place! They may not have all the little junk like Michaels does but they carry products that are hard to find elsewhere. I've been going to the Agoura store for years & couldn't be happier with their service! read more

frankly, in my opinion, i only go to ONE art store for all of my supplies in los angeles. this one. the largest selection of paints, brushes, canvases, paper, and spray paint. but more importantly, they seem to have the most friendly staff, with a few exceptions. those exceptions are the staff behind the office that look like they don't want to be there in the first place. so now with the good employees: whenever i have a question, or a problem, Kim and Jose always seem to know exactly what i'm looking for, and how to accommodate me with the correct materials accordingly without spending an arm and a leg. they're always on the floor, so they're always readily available. so, all of the other stores i've been to in LA are small and cramped, but this graphaids tops every store in town. plenty of parking, near the freeway, and they have a top-of-the-line printer, that prints on canvas, for those of you interested. read more

I was asked to stand outside while an employee filled my order, simply because I had a dog with me. One person ruined dogs being allowed in the store. However I will never shop here agai and I had been a loyal customer for a decade read more

Hum, nice place but I don't know about their customer service. I had called to see if they had a specific item that I was looking for. The girl that answered the phone was a bit short with me like she was too busy to answer the phone. However, she did help me and informed me that they did have the item I needed. So I went to go pick up the paper. I walked in and having not been there before, I asked for help. The guy I asked just stood and stared at me and pointed to an older gentleman. It was like "ok, you can't speack.." he could, just not to me. The older guy helped me out and I went to the counter to pay. The same guy that wouldn't talk to me (he only would speak to his coworker) just stood and stared at me when I asked if i could check out where he was standing. At a register!! The older gentleman, once again was the one to help me out. I don't understand why this man with a cane had to limp around the store to help me out, when there where plenty of younger able bodies available to help. Hum..glad they had what I needed... read more

All the locations are great but my favorite is West LA. Good selection and great prices. My only problem is the Culver City store you can cut the tension between staff with a knife.... very unpleasant. read more

These people are serious. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. The store isn't huge or glamorous, but they have a lot of supplies that you don't see everywhere else. Digital printing capability is a plus. Prices seem a little higher on some things than their competitors. But overall, one of the best places to get art supplies in the area. read more

Been to this store a handful of times the first time was back when i was looking for ink for an engineering pen i own . the second time i was looking for Wax carving supplies so i figured i would give them a shot. No luck. i pass this place every day on my way home from the office So last night i was in need of a tungsten scribe so i figured i would give these guys a shot. i walk in and the place is all but empty Except fro the 2 employees sitting behind the counter. I ask about a scribe and and am basically told nope we don't have that. so i say okay ill just have a look around and see if i can find anything i can use. i walk over to the isle that carries cutting tools and mats then i notice a bunch of french curves and other drafting type tools on this far wall so i co take a look. nice selection and i also see 3 racks of Templates. so i walk up and browse them for a few. at one point i pull out my phone and take a picture of the company that makes the templates so i can see what all they make online later. When i notice this employee basically Eyeballing me like i am some kind of a thief. this employee did not come strait out and tell me to leave but he was making it crystal clear my business was not wanted he was not what i would consider friendly or helpful and he basically showed me the door. I have never in my life been treated like that by an employee of any store.. it is highly unlikely i would ever go back to this store. far too many places in town that are respectful to customers. read more

José is the very best...helpful, knowledgable, friendly...always ready to offer ideas with the utmost respect to the customer. Some of the others can be a bit gruff or disinterested. But they still have the best supplies of any art store! read more

I seriously am blown away that this place has such a high rating. I have repeatedly tried to support them as they happen to be close to where I live and work, one of the employees even gave me a 40% discount card when I complained about their stock (in hopes that I would return), which turns out, was a farce (when i tried to actually use it). My main beef with this place, aside from how everyone looks miserable and acts miserable, is their stock. OMG IT IS SO HORRIBLE. Good luck in trying to find any oil paint (or brush) worth using. Or if you want to order something special order, it's like pulling teeth. I have actually had to call their manufacturers directly, who have helped me over them actually helping me because they just didnt want to deal with it. I kid you not, that is a direct quote, "can you call them, i really don't want to deal with it" (and then they gave me the phone number)....Now I drive to artist and craftsman, which is a little bit out of the way, but screw it, wont spend another dollar in this crap hole. read more

three weeks and still no acknowledgement from graphaida president Frank Festa, are they above an apology of wrong doing, I think not
