I don't remember the name of the person that helped me, but they made the process of buying some notebooks and getting one debossed super smooth and easy. The process took about one minute (debossing), so it's worth coming in you you want to get your notebook customized. They have the standard Moleskines you'd find at bookstores and Staples, but they also have limited edition styles and the expanded notebooks. I didn't see their pen selection, but I don't think it's huge. Either way, great store and there's good food upstairs at the food court. read more

I have been using Moleskins exclusively for over a decade so I love that there is a dedicated store I can visit. I just wish they had more special editions of their pocket sized lined notebooks (that's more of a Moleskine issue, not a this location issue). One feature I love about this place is that you can get your notebooks embossed. I really need to come back and get all my journals numbered. The location is small, but packed with just about everything Moleskine sells all at the same prices you'll find online, just with the added bonus of not having to pay for shipping. Staff here is always amazing. They're friendly and eager to give you as close to a private shopping experience you could get without them shutting the store down for you. It's really that good. I like this store so much that I'm willing to drive to the Century City Mall and pay for parking. That's all I need to say. read more

late on friday 12/2, my boss decided we needed to send personalized moleskines to our 39-member team located across 12 US states. had to be sapphire blue, had to be dotted, had to arrive to my house by X date in order to be reshipped (by me) and received by team members all across the country by Y date, 13 days away. (oh, and he also wanted two different pens by companies far flung across the country, but that's a story for another review. point is, this was an urgent and very specific task.) immediately went to moleskine's website, discovered no live chat, no phone, no email - only an online request form. immediately sent a request to determine if they could fulfill the order on time. noted that their customer service was already closed by then, and they only fulfill orders mon-fri 9a-5p ET (so, nothing after 2p my time). got up saturday morning and first thing, painstakingly added 39 personalized notebooks to cart and was assured on the site they would go out well in time and likely arrive five days early. great! all went well till i tried to pay. wouldn't go through. tried for the following three days to submit my order (four times recreating my cart), across two different browsers, two different machines, clearing cookies each time. googled a number, got a very bored and resentful customer service rep each time. "yawn, clear cookies." did that. "yawn, try a different browser." did that too. "yawn, have you tried another machine." did that as well. was hung up on three times. now it's late monday, 12/5. i'm not getting anywhere with corporate. told my boss. his response? "make it happen." in a bid of desperation, called the LA store. no longer remember if this was afternoon 12/5 or morning of 12/6, but either way: lexy immediately set to work. no, they didn't have the notebooks in stock. she looped in her manager and set to calling stores all over the country to try to get the notebooks shipped to them so they could emboss and turn around to me. when she got back to me, bad news. no blues anywhere, and only five dotted anywhere. would have to be five black dotted and 34 black ruled. finally got the boss's approval late that day, told her to do it, and two days later, voila! 39 beautiful notebooks accurately embossed, arriving on my front porch five days before my deadline to ship. ultimately, pens and envelopes to ship in became the real hang up! and of course, the deadline on our side was pushed to january the day after the books arrived, but boss still wanted them (and the damn pens) in hands by tuesday 12/20. guess who dropped everything off at ups saturday, 12/17? this girl. (because pens didn't arrive till 12/16 and envelopes arrived in the nick of time 12/17. otherwise, all could've gone out by 12/12!) in sum, this shop - and lexy specifically - went WELL above and beyond to save my job for something that shouldn't have been that big of a deal in the first place, least of all to her. i hope lexy's boss reads this and that she gets a really swell holiday bonus in her stocking this year, because she is a badass. read more

I had a great experience on 1/3/22 with a sales associate named Diane. It was a quiet Monday morning, or so I thought. She had a huge order ahead of me, yet kept our calm and was able to help that customer with hot stamping his notebooks. I had the same idea in mind. As I waited, Diane was able to check in with my periodically and when it was finally my turn to have one of my notebooks hot stamped, she took great care to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. Despite having to wait, she was very personable and gave me great service which I appreciated. The guy working there, large size with unique clothing just didn't know anything and didn't care to find out, and was more interested in himself than customers. Frustratingly, we drove across the LA basin to this store only to find a very limited supply of the books we wanted. We purchased a smaller version of what we wanted, but we'll make do. This review is about both the Santa Monica Blvd. store as well as moleskin.com. I love all of the Moleskin products and have used them for decades. I generally get their products from a distributor. This is the first time I have had experience with the website sales and the local store. I purchased $250 worth of products from the website, however, they did not apply the discount advertised on the website. I contacted the company and told them to apply the discount or cancel the order. They told me order had not been processed. They said they would get back to me. They did not. I went online a few days later and saw that in fact by this time the order had been fulfilled. I contacted them again and they said the only thing I could do was to refuse the order, they gave me a date of when it was coming UPS, I made arrangements to be home that day so I could refuse the order. The order came two days earlier and the carrier left it at my house, so I was unable to refuse the order I then contacted moleskine again and they offered after many emails to give me a credit on the website for the amount I had spent plus 10% off. I agreed to this however they have not applied the credit, or the discount. My only alternative is to return all of these products at my expense, but given the total lack of customer service, I do not believe that I would be credited for the return. Also, they have spent so much time on this that it is now past the time when you can return things. They do not answer emails and when you call them you wait and wait and then the phone disconnects. After this awful experience I went to the Santa Monica boulevard store in Los Angeles, calling the night before giving them a list of the items I wanted to purchase and they put them aside for me. The sales associate assured me that everything in the store was 40% off, including my very specific question about a very expensive pen that was part of my order. When I got to the store I asked if the very expensive pen also was 40% off because online it was not on sale. Sales associate assured me that it was on sale. When I got to the store I asked her again if the pain was indeed 40% off like everything else in the store and she said that it was. She rang up my order and there was a $70 discrepancy between what I thought the total should be and what she said the total was. Since they ring things up and you can't see the price of anything, I had to guess and I told her it sounded to me like the pen was not discounted. It took her a very long time to admit that the only thing in the store not on sale was the pen. She tried to slip this by me, and this is very underhanded, very dishonest, and much like their online store. I did pay the full price for the pen and purchased the other items and after a few days I decided I needed to return the pen not so much because of the cost but because of the way that the company does business, and being lied to. I wish I could give zero stars, and it is amazing to me that a company with such good products has such absolutely horrific customer service. I will never again by from Moleskine directly, I will try to dispute the online transaction with my credit card company. Both of these purchases have taken an extreme amount of my time, I've been horribly frustrating, and totally unnecessary. read more
