Do not buy loose figures from here. After checking out for one loose figure, had to ask the cashier if there was any bag, paper wrap, or bubble wrap to protect the figure. There was nothing they could offer to protect the figure from damages during transport. No bag was even offered. Some of these figures are pricey. read more

Strolled by and had to go in. Large shop filled with soooooo much merch. The okatu in us wanted to check it out. Good crowd, good selections and busy staff. We were flipping through their collection of collectibles trading card games as we had gotten into One Piece trading card. Saw lots of Pokemon cards and more (in both original Japanese and English verison)version. They had a small selection of the One Piece (it's still new enough that they don't open large selection of open singular cards for sale compare to Pokemon). Everything looks great and I wished I had a larger wallet to buy. But we were mostly window shopping unless we can find something to tempt us to spend our budget on this vacation. read more

This store has a lot of second hand Japanese products ranging from exclusive figurines to accessories, music, games, and small accessories. This branch of Book Off has plenty of variety and is well stocked with lots of cool and uncommon items for sale. Location does get a lot of foot traffic but the store is pretty large enough to accommodate. A must go for anime lover. This book off store, different from other book off that it got way more anime products than others. Price varies. It's definitely not cheap at all. But you do find some figure that you simply can't find in other stores. But be patients and remember, most of the figures are not cheap here. It got a great selection of "treasure hunt" anime items. I am a little biased because I do prefer my Bookoffs to have more BOOKS.... this Bookoff is good though if you enjoy sifting through piles and piles of anime merch. I came here last week and was impressed with the range of anime characters, figurines, retro games, and Manga books. My son bought a Deathnote Manga #3 but in the limited edition black pages for $17. My daughter bought a Demon Slayer picture for only $3. I read from some reviews that the store was stocked and put together haphazardly. Like some anime series were out of order. I honestly don't know nearly enough to notice things like that. Another complaint was that the staff were just going through the motions and were not knowledgeable about their store. I didn't catch that either. Overall, its a cute store. I can see myself coming back here. read more

I wouldn't call BOOKOFF a regular bookstore. It's an anime based store, and they specialize in comic books, collectibles, action figures, toys and knick-kancks. Great place to get a gift for somebody who is into anime and this world. Fun to browse, clean, well-organized, big space, nice customer service. OK-ish prices. Authentic Japanese anime thrift store with lots of selection and excellent customer service. The only gripe is this place is way too expensive and they literally give you pennies for some trade ins. Before you go crazy look around online and you will regularly find items way cheaper. It for the convenience you can pay to support the company. Aight I gotta pull out this cringe pre-face every time I review an anime event or shop, but I've run panels related to anime must stops in SoCal, been to cons as press, industry guest, cosplayer etc for 15 years and am an avid merchandise collector and you would THINK a Bookoff solely focused on anime goods would be based, but honestly, it was just alright. I think the nature of a Bookoff being in Little Tokyo has it be mined completely for the rarer more interesting anime goods and if you want to think of the anime "fast fashion" ecosystem, this Bookoff is a PRIME example. With anime becoming more accessible and therefore mainstream (cringe!), we're seeing A LOT of goods from recently aired or bigger anime series here, generally in massive bulk (think JJK, Demon Slayer, etc.). So why the lower score? Aside from the merch just being ok, I have NO IDEA who is pricing some of these goods. An Arknights, SECONDHAND doctor nendoroid for $80 when a brand new one is cheaper?! Also a lot of the prize figures are priced way above MSRP for what you would typically find online, at a con, or at an anime shop that sells them new and still in the box (I'm sure you can find the same anime prize fig here at Jungle or Sakura Anime at a lower cost). And these are prize figures that ARE STILL IN PRODUCTION too. Additionally there's no real attempt at organization, just like every other Bookoff, so get ready to camp here and rifle through the items. We did happen to find some nice small things, but nothing THAT amazing. The thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the little card sets they had packed for $3. The front card was a Fate Apo card of Astolfo and the card on the back side showed FGO Babylonia Ishtar, so you would assume that the cards in the middle would also be Fate right? Obviously the person who put it together knew that at least the front and bottom showing characters were from the same franchise right? WRONG. I was so pissed when I opened it and it was normie AoT and Re:Zero stuff. Fine to stop by and sift through but no real high expectations here. read more

This place is such a scam. Used manga being sold for more than you could buy a new copy for at retail price. Shelves packed with overpriced garbage. Nothing is rare or unique, it's just the same junk you'd find anywhere, but used and marked up 200%. It's clear they're just taking advantage of new anime fans coming to Little Tokyo who don't know any better, but you'll find better deals and more unique items on online auctions. read more

What if it made second unnecessary break? Be very careful shopping here and to check everything thoroughly. This shop does not display its returns and exchanges policies clearly. A friend made a purchase, found visible damage, and we returned the next day for an exchange. Not a refund, but an exchange. The clerk refused and stated that there are no returns. Lots of little knick -knacks where you can explore and look though. If you're a Japanese anime lover or toy explorer, this may be a place to find some of your old favorites. They got book, anime figurines, pins, toys, plushee, pokemon/ yugioh cards, action figures, old video games/systems. Staff was nice also, just ask and they'll assist you. You might spend hours just looking in one area cause of the selections they have of a particular item. There's lots to see. You just have to look though and maybe find something from your childhood. A store that serves the anime world well. Bookoff is actually a giant chain in Japan. Mostly used books, DVDs, and vinyl. Here it's a focus on manga and its toy offshoots of that world. I wish it could be more like Mandarake in Tokyo... but that's impossible. read more

I'd give this store a three-star rating because they do have some cool vintage items at decent prices. However, I can't give them a higher rating primarily due to their disappointing buyback system. When I brought in several valuable items, they offered only a small fraction of their actual worth, and sometimes they didn't even bother to research the items, instead setting their own prices. They also claimed that other stores had worse buyback policies, which I found to be untrue. Shopping here is fine, but selling to them is not recommended. Moreover, the staff is a bit odd and doesn't appear to be very knowledgeable about anime. read more

Neat little addition to Little Tokyo! Nice wall of manga/graphic novels, also saw some art books (?) near the register. Several glass display cases of collectibles in the store, with a handful of shelves filled with buttons/pins, loose toys/figures, and a section of famicom/super famicom games. Picked up a Berserk volume for almost half the price of a retail copy, and some $1 Yugioh cards. Better collectible store than the other ones around it, in my opinion. Bookoff focused on figurines and manga/anime art books. So many figurines compared to other bookoff locations!! I found a cute chip n dale figurine and beauty and the beast qposket. I will definitely be back here - the prices are fair compared to other anime shops nearby. Staff was helpful and courteous they accepted apple pay. read more

Wow, what a treasure trove! Unlike many stores around Little Tokyo, this place carries a broader selection and time period of anime, manga, and video game merch. They had a great variety of video game soundtracks and I was thrilled to find they had numerous items for the Dragon Quest series. read more

Review as both a buyer and a potential seller: * pricing is wild and nonsensical in this store. they sell used figures for same as new, or more than new, and everyone i've been with has commented the same. i also wanted to see how much i'd get for about $30-$40 worth of anime straps and they offered me... $2. did not take that, and my potential seller friend didn't take anything either. more worth it to take the time and put something up on eBay because you'd get more for -one- item than what they offered for a bag! * terrible organization. everything is scattered, no series organization for anything other than the figures. all of the racks are completely random, and so are any blind packs. no clue if you're missing something or if a pack you're buying actually has what's shown on the front or back. * typical to Little Tokyo, but not clean looking either. * employees also seemed listless and uninterested. as someone who workers customer service, this is not who you want hosting your store ‍ i've found 2-3 things here from the mess of straps and consider myself lucky. fun once, not worth your time as a serious buyer or seller. for better organization and customer service, and at least buyer pricing (haven't tried to sell there), go to Jungle. read more

Very nice environment, has a variety of merchandise from figures, pins, acrylics, mangas and Pokémon and Yugioh cards and old video games. Little word of advice, if you see something you like you might as well get it now because the next time you come back, it will most likely be gone. 3 stars for the store cause they have some cool old stuff in there at some decent prices but I can't give them alot of credit mostly because they have a horrible buyback system I took in a lot of things worth big money and they barely pay a small fraction or simply don't look up items and claim their own price all while saying jungle has a worse buy back which is a lie.
