Strolled by and had to go in. Large shop filled with soooooo much merch. The okatu in us wanted to check it out. Good crowd, good selections and busy staff. We were flipping through their collection of collectibles trading card games as we had gotten into One Piece trading card. Saw lots of Pokemon cards and more (in both original Japanese and English verison)version. They had a small selection of the One Piece (it's still new enough that they don't open large selection of open singular cards for sale compare to Pokemon). Everything looks great and I wished I had a larger wallet to buy. But we were mostly window shopping unless we can find something to tempt us to spend our budget on this vacation.

This store has a lot of second hand Japanese products ranging from exclusive figurines to accessories, music, games, and small accessories. This branch of Book Off has plenty of variety and is well stocked with lots of cool and uncommon items for sale. Location does get a lot of foot traffic but the store is pretty large enough to accommodate. The general mood here is very cheery and bright among visitors who are browsing for their next treat.

I am a little biased because I do prefer my Bookoffs to have more BOOKS.... this Bookoff is good though if you enjoy sifting through piles and piles of anime merch. There are some nice finds, though IMO the prices could be cheaper. The few manga I was interested in were nearly full price for used books!

Lots of anime characters that I have NO idea where they are from.

I came here last week and was impressed with the range of anime characters, figurines, retro games, and Manga books. My son bought a Deathnote Manga #3 but in the limited edition black pages for $17. My daughter bought a Demon Slayer picture for only $3. I read from some reviews that the store was stocked and put together haphazardly. Like some anime series were out of order. I honestly don't know nearly enough to notice things like that. Another complaint was that the staff were just going through the motions and were not knowledgeable about their store. I didn't catch that either. Overall, its a cute store. I can see myself coming back here.

Aight I gotta pull out this cringe pre-face every time I review an anime event or shop, but I've run panels related to anime must stops in SoCal, been to cons as press, industry guest, cosplayer etc for 15 years and am an avid merchandise collector and you would THINK a Bookoff solely focused on anime goods would be based, but honestly, it was just alright. I think the nature of a Bookoff being in Little Tokyo has it be mined completely for the rarer more interesting anime goods and if you want to think of the anime "fast fashion" ecosystem, this Bookoff is a PRIME example. With anime becoming more accessible and therefore mainstream (cringe!), we're seeing A LOT of goods from recently aired or bigger anime series here, generally in massive bulk (think JJK, Demon Slayer, etc.). So why the lower score? Aside from the merch just being ok, I have NO IDEA who is pricing some of these goods. An Arknights, SECONDHAND doctor nendoroid for $80 when a brand new one is cheaper?! Also a lot of the prize figures are priced way above MSRP for what you would typically find online, at a con, or at an anime shop that sells them new and still in the box (I'm sure you can find the same anime prize fig here at Jungle or Sakura Anime at a lower cost). And these are prize figures that ARE STILL IN PRODUCTION too. Additionally there's no real attempt at organization, just like every other Bookoff, so get ready to camp here and rifle through the items. We did happen to find some nice small things, but nothing THAT amazing. The thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the little card sets they had packed for $3. The front card was a Fate Apo card of Astolfo and the card on the back side showed FGO Babylonia Ishtar, so you would assume that the cards in the middle would also be Fate right? Obviously the person who put it together knew that at least the front and bottom showing characters were from the same franchise right? WRONG. I was so pissed when I opened it and it was normie AoT and Re:Zero stuff. Fine to stop by and sift through but no real high expectations here.

    The one I bought

Bad attitude, the lady at the front desk just PUT my figure in the pack NOT even pack it for me, I mean yes I do know this figure come without a box I understand that, but you just put it IN my package??? What if it made second unnecessary break? Ok, and I ask politely for a plastic bag just so I can pack my figure, she throw the bag to me and turn around start talking to her workmate, she let me to pack by myself, ok it's fine, so I pack by myself, and you know I need to use the tape for tape it don't won't fall out, she throw that thing again, dude I am so piss off

Lots of little knick -knacks where you can explore and look though. If you're a Japanese anime lover or toy explorer, this may be a place to find some of your old favorites. They got book, anime figurines, pins, toys, plushee, pokemon/ yugioh cards, action figures, old video games/systems. Staff was nice also, just ask and they'll assist you. You might spend hours just looking in one area cause of the selections they have of a particular item. There's lots to see. You just have to look though and maybe find something from your childhood. Great time to spend on a weekend and explore

I was disappointed to see record stores have dried up, but when I looked up comic book stores, this was near the top, and close to where I had lunch. Street parking is fairly easy, and I didn't realize that the first door I passed was another entrance to a café looking area. However, the main entrance was a visually impressive experience in its own right. Full of stimuli basically, that's assured at Revenge of... (the Nerds? Supes?). Love the name! In addition to comics and usual toys and nicknacks, I was delighted to find not one, but two areas devoted to pinball machines! Additionally, the interior design evokes lots of classic (e.g. Silver and Bronze Age) artwork. X-Men and Spider-Man definitely influenced the architectural approach. It's impressive and lends a fun vibe, as well as atmospheric lighting. Two café counters in different areas allow for drinks to be purchased, and lots of nooks and crannies have things ranging from vinyl records, board games, a discounted graphic novels area, as well as recent comic titles and weekly releases (typically on Wednesdays). The back issues are found in X shaped fixtures and spaced in a clever arrangement that simultaneously encourages and enhances browsing, and yet doesn't clutter the walking areas. I found several missing issues for my Conan the Barbarian run, and everything is bagged and boarded (archival terms), so that's good. I didn't explore the pinball machines as I was pressed for time, but I definitely see myself visiting when I'm nearby in the future.

The emphasis, though, is primarily new and recent comics. Passing through on a rainy afternoon I was pleased to find its location is near a few important stops in Pasadena, and there's some parking available in the private lot. I was mostly there to check out the selection and see if they specialized in anything unique. Not to say they don't, but it's still a well-stocked store. I was the only customer and enjoyed the classic jazz playing in the background. Pro Tip: Most established comic shops have subscription plans paid annually, or one-time up front. A customer goes through Comic Book Geek to pick their titles and sometimes preferred cover art, and the shop pulls their requests and holds them until the customer picks up the stash.

Only critiques I would give it would be to have a little more for the other collectors. And what I mean by that, have a couple more action figures, Funko, pops, etc. that will probably bring in some more people for sure. The other thing would bethe music playing in the speakers. Didn't care too much for the rock, but still all in all, nice place to go. There's plenty of parking and easy to find.

Housed inside a former bank, the space already carries this grand, historic energy that sets the tone before you even start browsing. What makes this place unforgettable is how it's designed to be explored, not rushed. There are cozy spots scattered throughout where you can sit and get lost in a book, but the real magic is upstairs. It opens into a maze of rooms, each with its own personality, filled with carefully arranged books that feel more like art than inventory. At times, it genuinely feels like you've wandered into a dream. One of the highlights is the famous tunnel of books, which adds to that surreal, almost cinematic experience. Everywhere you turn, books are used as decor in the most creative ways, and it creates this quiet moment where everything else fades out. Upstairs also holds one of my favorite parts, a row of art studios featuring work from local artists. Every piece feels intentional, unique, and thoughtfully placed. Right nearby, there's a small coffee shop surrounded by beautiful artwork, making it an easy place to pause and take it all in. This isn't a quick stop kind of place.
