A knitted baby hat with crocheted scalloped edges
    Jessica J.

I've had a lovely experience working with this group of women. I was only in town for a few months, but decided to take a knitting class. I already knew the motion of knitting, but nothing else. Terri has been such a wonderful teacher! It's amazing to watch her knit with such grace and ease. In addition to being an excellent knitter, she also really knows how to teach, which is a different thing. I've knitted three hats (one is a baby hat for a friend which took a whole different skill AND has a scalloped edge which required me to learn how to crochet), learned different stitches, learned how to read a pattern, learned magic loop, etc. Also the other women in the knitting class are lovely and I enjoy the little community. Claudia and Jen are also lovely women. I haven't learned from them in a class setting, but they're fun to chat with while I'm in the store. I can't say much about their selection of yarn since I'm pretty new to knitting and don't have anything to compare it to. I guess same can be said for value. What I can speak to is having a lovely two month journey of learning how to knit!

I never feel particularly welcome at this store, which is odd for a small shop. Decided to go out of my way to shop elsewhere.

The store itself had everything you could possibly be looking for, for a sewing project or anything related. Their selection of trims was incredible and they also had patches and other items, yarn as well. They also had many many rolls of different types of fabrics, and they also offer clothing modifications. The best part, in my opinion, was their shop dog, who was so incredibly friendly I spent more time petting him than I did browsing around the store. He was standing right outside of the store, so if you're wary of dogs , even though he's so friendly, it is good to note. The store is right on Lincoln Blvd and the parking situation might be difficult if the front areas of the store already have cars there. There is a small lot next to the store but it might be reserved for the restaurant next door. I parked in the residential area right next to the store, so I did not notice if the lot was specific to the restaurant only. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Was fun to just browse all of their items and it was nice to have a dog to pet!

His behavior was enraged, hostile, threatening.and very scary . The most horrifying part was when the woman asked him, "Are you kicking me out because I am Jewish and Israeli?" and he answered, "Yes, you are proving my point." That was not a misunderstanding. That was blatant antisemitism and discrimination. He was so aggressive that I genuinely feared he might physically attack her. I did not step in because the situation felt dangerous. What I witnessed was open antisemitic harassment against a Jewish Israeli woman. It was disgusting, frightening, and completely unacceptable. No one should ever be screamed at, humiliated, and thrown out of a business because they are of a certain race or religion. A couple minutes following this incident, the woman returned and politely asked to pick up her belongings which she left at the store probably due to her fear of being attacked . When the worker saw her - he became enraged and screamed at her to leave - refusing to give her - her staff. She said she will call the police and the man replied "i don't care - call whomever you want" She once again said she is calling the police and complaining about his business to the city and he finally gave her what she forgot when he kicked her out of the store . I am still shocked and shaking thinking about it, and I will never return. I hope this lady file a police report because this was clearly a hate crime and the store worker is also violating

this is my go-to place for gifts in Sunset Park! I am lucky enough to live just a few blocks away,…read moreso I wander in every few weeks to see their new & seasonal items. they have a highly curated selection of home, body, baby & food goods. I've gotten jewelry, candles, PJs, chocolate, napkins, fancy salt, trivets & more-- seriously, there is something for everyone! and at every price point. love the ladies that work here. great gift wrapping.

GOODs is an ideal shop to find a perfect hostess gift unless you share my recent dilemma: a lunch invitation from my hubby's acquaintance and his wife, a couple I have never met therefore an event that rendered me clueless as to what to bring all the while my mother's voice in my head on a loop admonishing, "Good guests never arrive empty handed!" Flowers? I love flowers but as a hostess, receiving flowers can interrupt the entertaining rhythm; can't just let that bouquet sit, must find the right vase and then there's the arranging while the puff pastry burns. Please bring flowers to established friends' gatherings only then offer to do the arranging. Scented candle? Like I said, have never met this couple. What if the fragrance triggers an allergy and while on the topic of allergies, food, chocolate, nuts could be problematic? Same goes for wine; do they even drink? Any and all of the aforementioned non-perishables could definitely be re-gifted as well as any fine GOODs' gift I selected but I remained stymied. SO I did the only logical thing my pea-brain could think of, I gifted myself - IZIPIZI sunglasses in grey cuz it's completely neutral - totally THE best, well constructed, inexpensive shades ever! AND this manufacturer also makes classy readers of identical quality both with frames in muted go with everything in your wardrobe colors. Service is gracious, knowledgeable! One-hour free parking on the south side of Ocean Park Boulevard and free two-hour parking on the Boulevard's north side west of 17th Street but please read signage to avoid an unpleasant, pricey ticket. GOODs, once I know these folks better (color schemes, interior design, likes) I'll be back, perhaps prior because I was completely impressed AND there's always my fave kind of shopping, one for them, one for me.
