While visiting all the way from Detroit I HAD to check this place out and it did not disappoint! The staff are all very friendly and very knowledgeable on their yarns. I wish I had the time to sit and knit a bit with the ladies. The cashmere yarns are so yummy to the touch and I really wanted to buy a ton of it to make a sweater for myself and my man. Feeling torn between 3 and a 4 only because it's not really my style of knitting. They are really focused on the high fashion couture knits in this store. Also a big emphasis on cashmere. Gorgeous samples knitted up. I bought a pattern that Jennifer had written for a cabled jacket which I'll have to knit in something affordable for me, but if I could, I'd knit it in cashmere for sure. I asked Katie for help and she ignored me; apparently she does not like my project (Christmas stockings) and refused to help me. I use to have a good feeling when I left, but not since it has gone under new ownership! Not worth the money! Gabriella was a delight, showed me the yarns that were exclusively done for them. We went through patterns and combined the yarns with the patterns. I found the shop to have a rather unwelcoming vibe. It's pretty small and most of the space is occupied by a table where other customers are learning to knit. I was looking for Knitscene magazine, and the woman who asked if I was looking for something (rather curtly) said she'd never heard of it and that Interweave Knits hadn't been so good lately or something to that effect. I would have stayed to browse the yarn, but it seemed to be organized by color, which was confusing, and since I just felt like they were staring at me and waiting for me to leave, I did. read more

She didn't ask me what project they were for, and acted as though I didn't know what I was talking about. She also gave me an attitude that I was inconveniencing her. Poor customer service. A friend took me to this wonderful yarn store while we were in the area. It's a tiny shop, but with lots & lots of yarn. I immediately salivated upon entering this store. The employees were very helpful. The store is located in a cute little outdoor mall of some sort. Parking in front. They have 2 huge sales (one in end of Jan. & another in July (if I can recall correctly)). Yes, they do carry bulky yarn which is little unusual for this area. I have lived near this store for over 50 years...I had ventured into it several times only to feel like I was bothering them. I only wanted to purchase the yarn , but they were like a little mean girls club. I gave up on them and went to Wildfiber instead. Yesterday I had to kill some time in the area and decided to try it again. I went in and they were lovely and informative and priced even better than Wildfiber. They offered me help anytime and eagerly rolled my new items of yarn so they were ready to use. Wildfiber is very unfriendly when it comes to that and once had me do it as a beginner.. and the other time told me to come back in 2 days to pick them up. They even turned down a $200 sale as they did not have time to show me how to wind it myself, and there were only 2 customers in the store, and they were knitting. ..... I loved the upbeat atmosphere at Jennifer and the buttons and yarn and needles are beautifully displayed in their clean store. You can park close for free, unlike Wildfiber. So nice to have a face lift on this store, both visually and mentally... If you haven't been in a while, go back, because they don't look down on middle of the road knitters any longer... I love Jennifer Knits for the convenient location (close to the bakery). However, it is a smaller area, and a good bit of their yarn is higher end. I personally am a fan of cashmere, silk, merino, etc and am willing and able to spend the money on a special project. I'm just not in the bracket to drop that $$ on every project, so I only go here when I want something special. The people are very nice, parking is relatively easy (bring some change for the meter, though I *believe* it's free for an hour or two at the lot nearby.) From a disability standpoint, the store is a little too small for a wheelchair, but there are chairs RIGHT next to the door, so a patron could transfer into the closest one while the helpful staff found what he/she needed. read more

My first visit, I drove all the way from San Pedro and by the time I got there, it had just closed (because I'm new to the area and got lost despite my GPS) and I was soooo bummed!
