Such a cute sewing and fabric store! The employees were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It was…read morehonestly addicting looking through all the fabrics, and it was so hard not to want to buy everything. They even had some fabrics that were sold out online, which was such a fun surprise! They do still require masks, but they have free masks inside made from their own fabrics, which I thought was adorable. My mom has been getting into embroidery and learning how to sew, and she loved the community feel here. She's already sad we don't have something like this back home in Vegas Definitely worth visiting if you love fabric, sewing, embroidery, or just cute creative spaces!

Alright, Sewing Arts is my fabric store - my go-to, my happy place, my "I swear I'm only getting…read moreone thing" (lies!) spot. I could not be more thankful that this gem exists AND that it's conveniently close to my main work location. I've quilted on and off since 2008, but when I moved to LA in 2016, my sewing machine and fabric took very, very long naps. When my boss announced she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to make her a baby quilt. After hours of Googling fabrics, I walked into Sewing Arts thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. HA. Jokes on me. In fact, jokes on me every single time I walk in thinking I know what I want. Contrary to some of these other reviews, the ladies at Sewing Arts are some of the kindest, most patient humans I've ever met. Even when I'm standing there overwhelmed by *gestures broadly* literally everything, they're endlessly helpful. Sewing Arts was my introduction to Ruby Star Society, which has since become my absolute favorite modern fabric line. I swear they carry every bolt from every collection (until it sells out). The selection is remarkable! There's also a bountiful selection of patterns, notions, materials (quilting cottons, linen, rayon), cross point kits, etc. etc. And the best part? The community. On my very first visit, Kathleen asked if I knew about the local quilt guild. I didn't at the time but now the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild (LAMQG) is what I lovingly call "quilt club," and I look forward to every monthly meeting (held at Sewing Arts!). The guild nights even come with a lovely member discount on fabric... dangerous for my wallet but wonderful for my soul. The only downside for me has been their long-arming service, which I've tried twice with less-than-great results, especially for the price, so I won't be going for a third try. Also, masks are still required, which you'll see mentioned in many reviews but the owners stand firm on the policy and even provide free masks at the door. There are a plethora of classes also available here (garments, quilting, etc.) so whether you are a beginner sewist, an expert, or somewhere in between - there's likely a class for you! All that to say, Sewing Arts has truly given me both inspiration and community. Five stars forever!!!

The store itself had everything you could possibly be looking for, for a sewing project or anything related. Their selection of trims was incredible and they also had patches and other items, yarn as well. They also had many many rolls of different types of fabrics, and they also offer clothing modifications. The best part, in my opinion, was their shop dog, who was so incredibly friendly I spent more time petting him than I did browsing around the store. He was standing right outside of the store, so if you're wary of dogs , even though he's so friendly, it is good to note. The store is right on Lincoln Blvd and the parking situation might be difficult if the front areas of the store already have cars there. There is a small lot next to the store but it might be reserved for the restaurant next door. I parked in the residential area right next to the store, so I did not notice if the lot was specific to the restaurant only. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Was fun to just browse all of their items and it was nice to have a dog to pet!

He is an absolute angel. Not only is he personable, kind, and always in a cheerful mood, he goes above and beyond to help. My story is a one of urgency and despair when I went back for more of the same specific fabric (it couldn't be any other fabric) but I couldn't find it. I was on a tight deadline and didn't have the time to order it. He dedicated himself to help, offering options, looking into getting it from the NY location, searching every square inch, for a very long time, until he found it. Most people wouldn't go the extra mile with kindness. He saved me. He's very knowledgeable and even blesses the fabric for you. Shopping with him is a blessing in itself, I'd say.

I walked out spending a couple of hundred but I also walked out getting every piece of material that I wanted. Silk gabardine rayon and some polyester cotton blend. I hate to say I will be traveling here often but with no Joann fabrics we're left with downtown LA. And I'm not crazy about going downtown LA with a 85 year-old.. international silks and woolens had everything I needed and wanted if I could give them 10 stars I would. The gentleman that assisted me was extremely helpful and had knowledge on his materials..

They have a lot of art prints from real artists (not stock images)! As well as books, cute knickknacks, stationery, art supplies etc. The merchandise here trends towards Japan themes, but not everything is anime or Japan adjacent though. They even stocked Frog and Toad books and plushies to my absolute delight! My friends bought some art prints from here. I ended up buying this lone eraser that I thought would come in handy for my cosplay art sketches.

They have a nice selection of prints, original art, toys, and books. It's a super small space, but they've made every corner count. Also, if a book or toy is sold out, I believe they sometimes have waitlists or at least an email list for when something comes back in stock. Being small, they do get kind of crowded on the weekends, and it makes the store kind of hard to maneuver. They were doing this thing for a while where they only allowed a certain number of people to look around at a time, then blocked the door with a table and in order to come in, you had to wait for someone who was already inside to leave. That kind of sucked, because you were basically just waiting for someone to feel like leaving and it usually took forever, leading to a long line outside. But it seems like they ditched that. We went recently and we were able to go in with others and there was no sign or table blocking the door. No lot parking; it's on sawtelle so it's just metered street parking. There are tons of good restaurants and coffee less than 20 feet in any direction, very good location.
