Some trims and revolving new fabrics.
Kristine M.

I've been shopping here for over 10 years and Raul has always been extremely helpful. They have 2 floors full of fabrics and trims including everything but not limited to: -Silks -Linens -Chenille -Polyester -Sheers -Down inserts -Tassels, trims, tiebacks..... There is always a staff member near by to cut you a sample or yardage. Stock is usually good. I adore the check out girls. Park across the street for $6 to avoid worrying about the dreaded meter maids. Honestly, one of the best selections of high quality fabric at reasonable prices in the downtown area.

BUYERS BEWARE !!!! Do not buy ANYTHING here. Even though the tags are still on, they refused to exchange items. Rude employees who kept walking behind us saying "we can't take anything downstairs without an invoice" luckily they are not the only shop around for fabrics, pillows or curtains. Wall Street is loaded with other nice shops. Keep walking, don't even bother to go inside.

Great selections and great prices. I have worked with them for over 25 years and they have accommodated my projects needs.

Alright, Sewing Arts is my fabric store - my go-to, my happy place, my "I swear I'm only getting…read moreone thing" (lies!) spot. I could not be more thankful that this gem exists AND that it's conveniently close to my main work location. I've quilted on and off since 2008, but when I moved to LA in 2016, my sewing machine and fabric took very, very long naps. When my boss announced she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to make her a baby quilt. After hours of Googling fabrics, I walked into Sewing Arts thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. HA. Jokes on me. In fact, jokes on me every single time I walk in thinking I know what I want. Contrary to some of these other reviews, the ladies at Sewing Arts are some of the kindest, most patient humans I've ever met. Even when I'm standing there overwhelmed by *gestures broadly* literally everything, they're endlessly helpful. Sewing Arts was my introduction to Ruby Star Society, which has since become my absolute favorite modern fabric line. I swear they carry every bolt from every collection (until it sells out). The selection is remarkable! There's also a bountiful selection of patterns, notions, materials (quilting cottons, linen, rayon), cross point kits, etc. etc. And the best part? The community. On my very first visit, Kathleen asked if I knew about the local quilt guild. I didn't at the time but now the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild (LAMQG) is what I lovingly call "quilt club," and I look forward to every monthly meeting (held at Sewing Arts!). The guild nights even come with a lovely member discount on fabric... dangerous for my wallet but wonderful for my soul. The only downside for me has been their long-arming service, which I've tried twice with less-than-great results, especially for the price, so I won't be going for a third try. Also, masks are still required, which you'll see mentioned in many reviews but the owners stand firm on the policy and even provide free masks at the door. There are a plethora of classes also available here (garments, quilting, etc.) so whether you are a beginner sewist, an expert, or somewhere in between - there's likely a class for you! All that to say, Sewing Arts has truly given me both inspiration and community. Five stars forever!!!

Anna Steadman was an incredible creative and embroidery artist. In memory of her the Ralph Steadman Gonzo Art Trail and Ralph Steadman and Another Thing exhibition at Torrance Art Museum is dedicated to her. As part of that dedication we hope you will get involved in a stitching mission... come out to Sewing Arts, buy your supplies, make a unique artwork, and share it online. I was looking for some loose buttons for a craft project and wanted a location that had a selection…read moreof individual loose buttons and this place had exactly what I was looking for, right as you walk in. The store itself had everything you could possibly be looking for, for a sewing project or anything related. Their selection of trims was incredible and they also had patches and other items, yarn as well. They also had many many rolls of different types of fabrics, and they also offer clothing modifications. The best part, in my opinion, was their shop dog, who was so incredibly friendly I spent more time petting him than I did browsing around the store. He was standing right outside of the store, so if you're wary of dogs , even though he's so friendly, it is good to note. The store is right on Lincoln Blvd and the parking situation might be difficult if the front areas of the store already have cars there. There is a small lot next to the store but it might be reserved for the restaurant next door. I parked in the residential area right next to the store, so I did not notice if the lot was specific to the restaurant only. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Was fun to just browse all of their items and it was nice to have a dog to pet!

The man working…read moreat the register, who may have been the owner, screamed at a woman and forced her to leave after overhearing her speaking about being Israeli with another person . His behavior was enraged, hostile, threatening.and very scary . The most horrifying part was when the woman asked him, "Are you kicking me out because I am Jewish and Israeli?" and he answered, "Yes, you are proving my point." That was not a misunderstanding. That was blatant antisemitism and discrimination. He was so aggressive that I genuinely feared he might physically attack her. I did not step in because the situation felt dangerous. What I witnessed was open antisemitic harassment against a Jewish Israeli woman. It was disgusting, frightening, and completely unacceptable. No one should ever be screamed at, humiliated, and thrown out of a business because they are of a certain race or religion. A couple minutes following this incident, the woman returned and politely asked to pick up her belongings which she left at the store probably due to her fear of being attacked . When the worker saw her - he became enraged and screamed at her to leave - refusing to give her - her staff. She said she will call the police and the man replied "i don't care - call whomever you want" She once again said she is calling the police and complaining about his business to the city and he finally gave her what she forgot when he kicked her out of the store . I am still shocked and shaking thinking about it, and I will never return. I hope this lady file a police report because this was clearly a hate crime and the store worker is also violating
