I have been using McCarthy pharmacy for over fourteen years, since 2007. Although they are not "next-door", they do provide "next-door" type service, with free delivery and very personalized, "old fashioned" service.
When I moved to the area 14 years ago, I tried the local, chain pharmacies. CVS was the worst, despite being open late, they were always too busy and rarely treated me like a person. Once I heard a pharmacy supervisor telling a doctor's office off, over the phone. I asked to speak with her, to tell her that I thought that it was both inappropriate the way I heard her talk on the phone to them, and near the counter where other customers could also her her foul language. She told me off, and that I only heard one side of the conversation. I tried, to no avail, to tell her that even hearing one side, it was still inappropriate. Then I tried Walgreens. Their pharmacy system would call to tell me that my medication would be available at 4:00 PM, even when I showed up hours later at 7:00 or 8:00 PM, it would not be ready and I'd be asked to wait another 30 - 40 minutes. Once they lost a triplicate prescription that they could not fill. The regular pharmacist was on vacation for over 2 weeks, and no one knew where to find it, till the regular pharmacist was back. It turns out, ALL the prescriptions were in a large drawer, under the counter at the drop off window, directly in front of anyone helping you. Really??? Then there is Rite Aid, which is better, and Mr. Greenly, who recently passed away, would do his best to help, but was often over worked, and understaffed. If he was not on duty, or at lunch, I'd often have to come back another day.
But, with McCarthy Pharmacy, I have NEVER had any problems or issues in all these years. They even deliver. Marty, the main pharmacist, always takes care of filling out any paperwork for prior-authorizations between my doctor's office and the insurance company. I only know he has done it, when I get an automated phone call from Express-Scripts, telling me that it was approved.
Marty works well with all my doctors; they often comment that they wish other pharmacists were more like him and things would be so much easier. Marty also makes things extremely easy for me, he often makes calls himself to me, reminding me that my new prescriptions for the month are ready and asks when I would like them delivered. Marty is always extremely polite, pleasant and accommodating, both on the phone, or if I am in the area and happen to stop in.
Marty & McCarthy have always provided me with "personalized", kind, very caring service, and know me. I don't feel like "just another customer" with them, they know me and know me by name. I am 65 years old, with several medical complications, some of which i have had for years, including a compound cervical fracture that was fused incorrectly, which necessitated it being chiseled out and redone a year later, leaving me with permanent nerve damage and spinal problems. I have never had such a great pharmacy and pharmacist in my life. I don't know what I would do without Marty & McCarthy Pharmacy. They make my medically complicated life, so much easier to deal with. read more
