This pharmacy is constantly giving me the run around about prescriptions with pharmacy reps consistently offering conflicting and contradictory guidance. Sometimes they accept goodrx... sometimes I'm told "we don't participate, or we only selectively participate and its been that way for years." Ok... Sometimes i get my requested text for refills, sometimes i don't. The best was last month when I called to make sure my refill for a daily prescription medication would be processed, which they already have on file and are expected to automatically refill, and was told "well we're just really busy today so you may have to wait until tomorrow." WHAT? Today when I called to check in on my monthly refill i was told its not due until tomorrow... upon asking a pharmacist named Eileen what date the med. was filled last month, she verified that it IS actually due today, but rite aid was out of stock with the medication and id have to wait until tomorrow... so which is it? Am i really a day early? Or is rite aid just behind the 8ball? When i politely pressed, she told me I'M really supposed to call a few days in advance if i want my meds on time, which also contradicts what other reps have advised (don't call ahead its not due yet...). The reps attitude that followed was the icing on a very dry and tasteless cake... and is every reason i have previously switched other medications to another pharmacy. Today, rite aid has officially lost my business... I'm a 2x childhood cancer survivor who works in healthcare and has spent her life navigating our broken system... i don't have time for belittling attitude from a pharmacy that doesn't know its patients, or its company policies, from a hole in the wall. To conclude, i just got the below text, one stating medication is out of stock, followed by a text a few min later saying the med. is ready to pick up... rite aid! Can you please get it together!

They've always been the place where I get my prescriptions filled. The last 2 years, we've gotten our flu shots here. I am confident in their pharmacy staff. Since my grocery store left (sniff, sniff) and now that we live within walking distance, it's become more of a Quick-e-mart for us. We drop in to get snacks (when the kids have a no-school day), milk and love their buy one get one or discounted cereals. We also shop for most cosmetics, batteries and cold-remedies here. Let's not forget the Thrifty ice cream! The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly. PLUS I love that they have the Plenti points reward system and since my phone bill is on the same network, I get tossed money to spend at the store every now and then. LOVE IT!

Here is the cashier embarrassed regarding the Rite Aid return policies

On 10/25/2020 I went to Rite Aid 1720 Aviation Blvd. in Redondo Beach to pick up my prescription and return a few items. I spoke to Nassir the pharmacist (who knows me very well as a customer over the last 8 years) while picking up my medication and that I needed to return the reading glasses I bought from him a few weeks ago and some vitamins my mother bought for me that I already have. He told me I had to go to the front cashier to return the items. The front cashier said I needed a receipt to return the items and I explained I pick up the glasses from Nassir a few weeks ago, he'll remember because I made a whole issue how I needed readers at 2.25 and I bought 2.50 and told him they probably won't work and how it's a hassle Rite Aid doesn't carry the full line of magnification readers. The other 2 items I explained to the cashier where purchased by my 81 year old mother with Alzheimers at the Rite Aid on 401 N. Pacific Coast HWY in Redondo Beach. My mother shops there 3-4 times a week with her roommate and the entire store there knows my mother. My mother spends $100's a week there and I'll give you her Rite Aid Locality # if you like to look up her shopping patterns. Again, my mother has Alzheimer's, she likes to buy things for me and sometimes buys the same things for me, thus we need to return them. Sometimes we have a receipt, but most times she can't find it or threw it away. So on this day 10/25/2020 I wanted to return to bottles of vitamins my mother bought last week that I already have. The cashier told me that I can return the items, but not at full value without a receipt. I asked what the restocking fee was and she asked me to scan my driver's license to determine the value of return. So I did and she said the glasses would be a refund of $5 and put on a gift card. I told her that's crazy, glasses where almost $20 and she can go ask Nassir the pharmacist for confirmation I bought them there a few weeks ago. She said she can't do that and would need to get a manager, so she paged a manager. Sunday afternoon 12:00 pm, super quiet in the store, maybe only 2 other customers in the entire store and there is NO MANGER coming. The cashier pages the manager a second time and again after several minutes there is no manager. I have now run out of time, patience and energy and I told the cashier I need a full refund on a gift card for these 3 items and left the store leaving those items and forgetting my medication. Please advise when my gift card is ready for pick up for the full value of these returned items pictured below.

The pharmacy never has your prescription ready no matter when you order it and salespeople are rude. Time to switch to CVS.

It's unexpectedly large for a place by the shore, and I was thrilled because even though I checked Yelp and Google, I couldn't find much info. They're open super early and stay open late, and it's just such a gem especially since that area tends to shift toward restaurants or other businesses. This neighborhood really needed a good grocery store, and they have everything: fresh meat, drinks, snacks, fruits just like a full local grocery. The staff was really nice and laid-back, though the only downside is that parking is super limited and intersection it's tough to get in and out since it's near a small with a red light. Still, I'm really glad it's there, and I want to give a big shout-out to the local folks to support this place. The prices are really reasonable, and we need to keep these local businesses thriving. they're the heart of the community. I gave them five stars. I just hope they can clean it up a bit inside, maybe freshen up the shelves or ceiling. But overall, I'm so happy it's here, and we need more of these places in our city.

For example, today an elderly lady picked up several medications while 6 other people were waiting behind her in line. The cashier had her give out her name and date of birth three times, and the name of her doctor, and her insurance information. The pharmacist was called over for a consultation (which should have been at the "consultation counter) and went over her medical condition and how to take the medication. All of us on line were appalled that this information was being divulged so publicly, especially in these days where identity theft is so rampant. I spoke to the same pharmacist later and voiced my concern and his response was to speak more softly next time. But I made it clear conversations like his (and the cashier) should be considered confidential - period. Other than that this isn't preferred CVS and I go there all the time.

I was able to fill it online, then when I went in the following day, they acted like I was crazy and said it never existed. When I pushed them, they agreed it actually did exist, but apparently it expired a few days before. They accidentally used a more recent prescription to refill a few months ago and let the older prescription run out and expire (6 months). Then when I paid $200 to have a telehealth appointment to have a new prescription sent in, that day, they then told me they would not accept the good RX card on a controlled substance. That's not a law in California or with CVS just "their location." I've called around to every other pharmacy and they said of course they take good RX card for any prescription. Just go to Ralph's, Walgreens, Costco literally anywhere else but this place. They are incompetent liars fabricating stories and discriminate.

When I called to explain that this has happened multiple times, the person I spoke with essentially called me a liar, insisting it had been added, despite the fact that there was no oil on any of the wrappers. When I asked how they planned to make it right, especially given the astronomical prices they charge for sandwiches, I was told they might give me extra oil and vinegar next time and possibly a bag of chips. Absolutely, hands down, the WORST place to have handle your prescriptions. I would love to give…read morethe "pharmacy manager" Lee a negative 100 stars. She has ZERO people skills, no customer service abilities and has no business being a manager of any sort. I have been coming here for almost 30 years and their management in their pharmacy has left a lot to be desired. Their prior manager, Paul had absolutely zero people skills as well. Looks like they went from bad to worse with Lee. Not only did she hang up in my face, prior to that she refused to listen to what I needed before putting me on hold and coming back with a holier than thou attitude in every word coming out of her mouth. Details: I ordered a prescription to be delivered yesterday and paid for it. It was supposed to be delivered before close of business yesterday. This morning I get a text asking if I'm still picking up my RX. I replied no since it was supposed to be delivered as I paid for it already. Immediately I received another text saying ok we cancelled your order, let us know when you want it refilled. Naturally I called because I need my prescription and I had ordered and paid for it yesterday. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Lee. Instead of listening to my question, she kept saying things that had nothing to do with my problem. I got frustrated and raised my voice a little to try to get her to listen to me and she then WENT OFF on me. I asked for the manager and she said "I am the manager" and hung up on me. This was a very simple error on their part that could've been easily handled and should not have ruined anyone's day. People who go to a pharmacy for prescriptions should not be treated the way Lee treats people. I have cancer (in remission), coronary heart disease, anemia, and a plethora of other ailments that I need medicine for. I don't need the stress of having to listen to someone like Lee tell me to check with my credit card company to see if a payment has gone through when it had nothing to do with what I needed. Of course my credit card went through, I'm on express pay with the pharmacy! Not only are her customer service skills, and people skills waning, her thinking process apparently wasn't working today either. This is my last straw with this pharmacy. I have gotten many different solicitations to have my prescriptions delivered by mail free of charge by various different companies. I am definitely going to look into those because I am not ever going to deal with Lee again. I have way too many health problems to have to be verbally abused and berated by my pharmacist. Photo of the text is below so you can see it should've been an easy problem that was resolved, instead of Lee making it a horrible experience.

Beach Market Hermosa delivered one of the worst customer service experiences my girlfriend and I…read morehave had in a long time. From the second we walked in, we were met with an attitude that was cold, dismissive, and openly rude. Asking simple questions felt like we were committing some kind of offense. Instead of basic professionalism, we were treated like an inconvenience, like our presence alone was a problem. The tone, the body language, the lack of courtesy, all of it was unnecessary and completely unacceptable. What made this experience even worse is that it did not feel like an isolated moment of bad service. It felt personal, hostile, and deeply disrespectful. We left feeling unwelcome and disturbed by how casually we were treated with such disregard. No customer should ever walk into a business expecting to spend money and walk out feeling belittled, brushed off, and unwanted. Businesses in a community like Hermosa Beach should be held to a higher standard than this. Respect is not optional. Professionalism is not optional. Common decency is not optional. If a business cannot manage those basics, then it does not deserve the public's trust or support. After this happened, I checked the Yelp and Google reviews, and that only made this worse. Review after review described the same kind of rude, hostile, abrasive behavior. At that point, this no longer looks like one bad interaction. It looks like a pattern. And when the same complaints keep surfacing from different people across different platforms, the public should pay attention. So let this be a warning to anyone in the Hermosa area: avoid this place. Spend your money somewhere that values customers and knows how to treat people with respect. Do not ignore the reviews. Read them for yourself on Yelp and Google. The pattern is there, and based on our experience, it is absolutely real. Beach Market Hermosa is the kind of place that reminds you how fast one toxic interaction can ruin an entire business reputation. No one should have to deal with this kind of treatment, and no business should feel comfortable operating this way without being called out for it.
