First of all, they don't answer the phone at this pharmacy. Husband and I saw that they were open last night so drove over to see if we could get vaccines. When we got there, there were 2 people behind the pharmacy counter and no customers. We asked if they had the Moderna vaccine available and were told that they did, but that we'd need an appointment. Their online system said they didn't have any appointments available until next Tuesday. The excuse we were given in person was because of limited supply we needed an appointment. Huh? Another Rite Aid pharmacy farther away told us to come right in and that we didn't need an appointment. It seems like these employees at this location were just being lazy. My husband and I have been coming to this store for a few years now, so this review reflects the culmination of our experiences there. The store itself is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you need something, chances are, this Rite Aid has it. However, the pharmacy is a different story. My husband's prescription is on autofill, yet when the time comes to fill it, they constantly "have to order it" and then we wait another week in which he doesn't have the prescription he needs. Apparently, they have no way of being able to have the drugs that are on autofill in stock and ready at the time they need to be refilled. Last month, it actually didn't even come in a week late so the pharmacy staff checked and realized El Segundo had some, and so my husband had to drive to El Segundo to get it. Inconvenient for sure. But it gets better... and because of that, they refilled it at El Segundo again this month despite my husband talking to the pharmacy staff a week before the autofill was going to happen this time to make sure they would pre-order it and have it in stock. They said they would do it, they didn't, and then sent the refill to El Segundo. When he called them, obviously frustrated, the person on the phone just sat there, silent. He asked what needed to happen so that they would have it on hand when he needed it, and they just responded, "Would you like to pick it up at El Segundo then?" No apology, no sense of even understanding why this is an issue, nothing. It's pretty clear they just don't care. read more

This pharmacy is constantly giving me the run around about prescriptions with pharmacy reps consistently offering conflicting and contradictory guidance. Sometimes they accept goodrx... sometimes I'm told "we don't participate, or we only selectively participate and its been that way for years." Ok... Sometimes i get my requested text for refills, sometimes i don't. The best was last month when I called to make sure my refill for a daily prescription medication would be processed, which they already have on file and are expected to automatically refill, and was told "well we're just really busy today so you may have to wait until tomorrow." WHAT? Today when I called to check in on my monthly refill i was told its not due until tomorrow... upon asking a pharmacist named Eileen what date the med. was filled last month, she verified that it IS actually due today, but rite aid was out of stock with the medication and id have to wait until tomorrow... so which is it? Am i really a day early? Or is rite aid just behind the 8ball? When i politely pressed, she told me I'M really supposed to call a few days in advance if i want my meds on time, which also contradicts what other reps have advised (don't call ahead its not due yet...). The reps attitude that followed was the icing on a very dry and tasteless cake... and is every reason i have previously switched other medications to another pharmacy. Today, rite aid has officially lost my business... I'm a 2x childhood cancer survivor who works in healthcare and has spent her life navigating our broken system... i don't have time for belittling attitude from a pharmacy that doesn't know its patients, or its company policies, from a hole in the wall. I had an extremely disappointing experience with the customer service at this store. The employees were very rude and unhelpful. I arrived 10 minutes before closing to buy some ice cream, but they didn't want to assist me. Instead, they yelled across the store and complained that my late visit was making their job difficult. I find it hard to believe that scooping ice cream is such a time-consuming and challenging task, especially since the store is usually empty. It is baffling why the staff are so reluctant to do their job as if it were particularly difficult. Every time I visit, there are no employees in sight, and it takes nearly 10 minutes to get any assistance, yet we never complain. Also, the woman who scooped our ice cream wore a hair mask that barely fit, so her long hair still touched the ice inside the freezer, which is quite unsanitary. They've always been the place where I get my prescriptions filled. The last 2 years, we've gotten our flu shots here. I am confident in their pharmacy staff. Since my grocery store left (sniff, sniff) and now that we live within walking distance, it's become more of a Quick-e-mart for us. We drop in to get snacks (when the kids have a no-school day), milk and love their buy one get one or discounted cereals. We also shop for most cosmetics, batteries and cold-remedies here. Let's not forget the Thrifty ice cream! The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly. PLUS I love that they have the Plenti points reward system and since my phone bill is on the same network, I get tossed money to spend at the store every now and then. LOVE IT! read more

On 10/25/2020 I went to Rite Aid 1720 Aviation Blvd. in Redondo Beach to pick up my prescription and return a few items. I spoke to Nassir the pharmacist (who knows me very well as a customer over the last 8 years) while picking up my medication and that I needed to return the reading glasses I bought from him a few weeks ago and some vitamins my mother bought for me that I already have. He told me I had to go to the front cashier to return the items. The front cashier said I needed a receipt to return the items and I explained I pick up the glasses from Nassir a few weeks ago, he'll remember because I made a whole issue how I needed readers at 2.25 and I bought 2.50 and told him they probably won't work and how it's a hassle Rite Aid doesn't carry the full line of magnification readers. The other 2 items I explained to the cashier where purchased by my 81 year old mother with Alzheimers at the Rite Aid on 401 N. Pacific Coast HWY in Redondo Beach. My mother shops there 3-4 times a week with her roommate and the entire store there knows my mother. My mother spends $100's a week there and I'll give you her Rite Aid Locality # if you like to look up her shopping patterns. Again, my mother has Alzheimer's, she likes to buy things for me and sometimes buys the same things for me, thus we need to return them. Sometimes we have a receipt, but most times she can't find it or threw it away. So on this day 10/25/2020 I wanted to return to bottles of vitamins my mother bought last week that I already have. The cashier told me that I can return the items, but not at full value without a receipt. I asked what the restocking fee was and she asked me to scan my driver's license to determine the value of return. So I did and she said the glasses would be a refund of $5 and put on a gift card. I told her that's crazy, glasses where almost $20 and she can go ask Nassir the pharmacist for confirmation I bought them there a few weeks ago. She said she can't do that and would need to get a manager, so she paged a manager. Sunday afternoon 12:00 pm, super quiet in the store, maybe only 2 other customers in the entire store and there is NO MANGER coming. The cashier pages the manager a second time and again after several minutes there is no manager. I have now run out of time, patience and energy and I told the cashier I need a full refund on a gift card for these 3 items and left the store leaving those items and forgetting my medication. Please check on your workers, it is very unpleasant when you have done nothing wrong and the cashier seems angry or upset and takes it out on you. I understand many places are understaffed and my intention is not to add more "work" to anybody but if you guys offer a service then please do not make the customer feel like we are burdening them with said service. Generally this place is average but at times below. They have a "no solicitation" sign on the font entry, right behind a solicitor disobeying the sign. In one breath, I feel bad or even guilty with these organized solicitors, not panhandlers, who are there to support their cause... but as a consumer, it's sort of like when you're walking down Melrose Ave or Venice Beach and there's that random rapper who wants to "give" you his mix tape CD and you do everything in your power to avoid him as if you were a contestant in American Ninja Challenge... with these solicitors, you feel bad to ignore them as if they're invisible and non-existent yet you feel awkward passing them by then engaging in conversion culminating to justify why you can't donate. I'd much rather avoid that situation all-together quite frankly and knowing they're there, I want to avoid those situations, probably by not patronizing the store if I can avoid it. I have a more formal process to who, when and how much I donate to charities, so it's not as if I'm against it, nor too cheap to help out, but I'm not in a position with time nor money to help everyone at the same time. The low experience review actually comes from a direct result of the solicitor, when he was engaging with some lady and her friend and they were stopping to listen to his pitch, and between his set up chair and table blocking the entry and these two ladies blocking the pathway, I had to navigate around them with my purchases in one hand and toting a child in another, yet the lady suddenly moved forward in the bitchest self-entitled tone proclaimed "can we get through?" as if it were her birthright to have the right of way, which left a bad taste and experience in shopping at this Rite Aid which I'm boycotting 'til I cool down. I think the lady was with her mother, as the other lady was older and I think was so embarrassed by her 50+ year old daughter she stopped, yielded and smiled somewhat apologetically on behalf of her rude daughter. So, the bottom line is... if Rite Aid is going to put out a "No Solicitor" sign proclaiming in a very verbose and legalese manner why people can't panhandle in front of the store, they should then enforce that rule, otherwise chaos emerges and situations arise. read more

Gaah. Going to this mini strip mall is like going through a worm hole to the sticks. On one side of the parking lot, there's a beat up Denny's that serves truckers, geriatrics and others who don't mind diarrhea. On the other side of the lot, there's places that charges $12 a haircut and $15 for epically stale sandwiches. Nestled in the middle is this Rite Aid. Upon first glance, there nothing wrong with this Rite Aid. They sell aisles of Halloween candy and have the good old traditional, staple of squarish Rite Aid ice cream scoops. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. ...Then you visit the pharmacy, which is the time warp... in the worm hole... a confluence of all things wrong... a Twilight Zone of pills and pill boxes. Time stands still here, with the pharmacists and folks behind the counter moving and thinking sooooo slow their actions are imperceivable to the naked eye. Even seasoned time travelers need special equipment to measure these movements. Some say that these pharmacists take longer to fill a prescription than the dissolution of Pangaea through tectonic shifting. Just the other day, my husband forgot that we no longer go to this pharmacy. He got into line on TUE and I last heard from him on SUN. He is still waiting in line for his prescription to be filled. But rest assured, he is alive (I dropped off water and freeze dried meals) and he is still on the drop-off-awaiting-pick-up list. Returning to the pharmacy counter 30 min after he dropped off his script, at the time he was instructed to return, my husband was told the pharmacist left for lunch. Yet another hours please. Why they tell you to return at a time they do not honor, scientists are researching. It may be the worm hole, time warp singularity. read more

God forbid a regular person without a drug addiction gets a legit prescription for anything with a controlled substance in it - the pharmacist will hedge and tell you they can't dispense it, they cannot verify the prescription, or tell you that you shouldn't take it. This has happened several times to me personally and to my boyfriend who was in a serious motorcycle accident. Imagine a pharmacist telling you that you shouldn't take Vicodin because it's too strong, and you have a broken back. In this particular case, it's a mild cough syrup that would ease his racking coughs and help him sleep. "We can try again on Tuesday to verify the prescription." It's Saturday. If a LEGIT doctor prescribes a medication, since WHEN is it the pharmacist's job to play God and override decisions that your treating doctor made? Makes me wonder what these people would do if THEY got sick and needed medicine. read more

They had like 15 waffle cones on display but the girl behind the counter would only sell us one because the rest of them were "broken." Got my waffle cone with three scoops (only wanted two - chocolate malted crunch and rocky road) and no napkin. Where else can you get that much ice cream in cylindrical form in a waffle cone for $2.29? I was getting mad about the napkin though, especially when everything started getting drippy in the car. Large store with a good selection but...check out at this place is can be a nightmare. If you call in a prescription and they say it'll be ready in 15 mins it really means an hour. They are really under staffed and at the regular check out I've waited up to 20mins. Not sure why it's so difficult to ring up regular items for them but they really have a hard time. They normally have two people on register but they take forever sometimes and when people are waiting for ice cream one of the cashiers has to attend to them. If you come here on a Friday-Tuesday be prepared to wait. read more

The service at the pharmacy is terrible. They don't answer the phone (I'm currently on hold and it's been 38 minutes) and whether or not you get your prescriptions filled on time is a crap shoot. I've had the same prescription on file for years with text alerts to tell me when it's ready to pick up. Sometimes I get a text, other times I don't. Every year as the prescription is renewed, they let it fall through the cracks and don't fill it. I've learned this so I went in two weeks early last time to remind them it was coming up. They looked it up, assured me they had it, and it still didn't get filled. I couldn't get them to answer to phone, so I went in to check and I was told I'd get a text the following day to pick it up. Instead, I got a text the following day saying they were out of the medication. I had to go a week without medication. Today I'm calling about my next due date to be filled. Update: after 45 minutes on hold they picked up. They are out of the medication as usual (it's probably the most common prescription around) so it will be another four days until I can pick up. If I hadn't called a week early to remind them, I'd be up a creek just like last time. I'm moving my prescription as soon as this one expires. read more

I'm not typically the type to write a review for a drugstore, but a recent experience at this Rite Aid inspired me to. Before I get to that experience, let's look at a few things: * Wide selection of food quality food items at great prices (packaged foods/snacks) * Wide selection of tasty wines and beers at great prices * All the typical drug store items you would expect * Across the street from my place, open 24/7 While the cashiers can sometimes be understaffed, and this can cause a small wait, I don't think I've ever had to wait more than a couple minutes. Now onto the recent experience: a couple of weeks ago, I came in here limping because I had developed a nasty blister on the bottom of my foot from a long run. The pain was awful. The security guard was new, and I had seen him there once before and he was really friendly - this time he asked about my foot, and immediately ran to get help from one of the clerks around where he could best find items to help my foot. He proceeded to lead me to the right aisle, and then he stopped, paused thoughtfully for a second, and asked he if could pray for the healing of my injured foot. As a Christian myself, I really loved the gesture - so we stood in the first aid aisle and he prayed for the healing of my foot, and for a bunch of other good stuff for me. I thought it was awesome, and now whenever I see him at Rite Aid late night (pretty much the only time I shop there) he give's me a fist bump and asks how I'm doing. I hate the diagonal layout of the store (I do not know why they changed the layout from when Thrifty's was there. I come here because of convenience but I try to avoid it. My biggest complaint is that last time I was in there trying to purchase a 20 tablet package of antihistamines and the pharmacist told me in a nasty voice "Your buying too much!" Ok, 20 days prior I bought a pack but I take them daily but apparently this store will only let me buy 20/month...I guess they think there are only 20 day in a month. She made me sound (in front of other customers) like I was brewing up some crystal meth in my bathtub.
