Today was my first time eating at this wonderful restaurant and say the black bean burger was aaaaammmmmmaaaaazzzziiinngg! I've tried a lot of black bean burgers and they have been either super dry or had no flavor. I've given this restaurant three tries and have decided that I will never return as a patron nor endorse them. My first experience was on Father's Day. I tried to call in an order for pick up, and was told that they're too busy to bother and that they will not take any pick up orders. The second time I went to eat there and was told they'd have a table ready for me and my one guest within 15 minutes and after half an hour I approached the host, and was told they never put me on their list and was basically forgotten so I left. The third time I was able to place an order for pick up. The gentleman who answered the phone tried to hand it Off to another gentleman. They really should learn to use the hold of mute button. The guy who was asked to take the order said that he did not want to "deal with that pain in the ass" to which the guy who answered the phone replied "do you want me to tell the guy on the phone that?" Then his tone changed because it became obvious that he noticed I was still on the line and could hear him. I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived to pick up my order after twenty minutes to be sure and ended up waiting an additional ten minutes before I had to say something and suddenly my order was instantly ready. When I asked how long the order had been sitting there, I was told it just got placed up front. The food was cold. I snatched my food and left. I will never return. The service is terrible, food is not worth the price, and it is apparent that no one who works there is honest, and no one cares about doing a good job. It's a crap shoot and I'm not a gambler. I've had better luck with IHOP and that's not a good thing. read more

Awesome! This place was recommended to me by a few people. I was finally in the neighborhood, so I thought I might as well give it a try. I was by myself so I sat at the bar. The bartender was extremely polite, tentative, and knowledgable. He let me try a few locals drafts before I decided. They had an awesome beer/wine selection. They had a special on their Prime Rib for $15. I got a huge slab of perfectly cooked prime rib, green chile mashers, and asparagus for that price. It was all incredible. Anywhere else I would have paid a minimum of $25 for a meal like that. I will definitely be coming back! read more

love it! I've probably eaten here 20 times. I LOVE ripe. It's my favorite restaurant in el paso. Everything tastes extremely fresh. Of all the things I've tried, I'd say there were only 2 dishes I wasn't wowed by. I LOVE the gouda mashed potatoes, love the west texas cobb salad, love the tuna melt, love the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, the burgers. Love how they have avocados on lots of dishes. Love the hummus, spinach dip, cantaloupe water (in the summer). This place has fabulous food! read more

Very nice atmosphere. Food is just ok. Nothing spectacular. I had the fish and chips. Everything else seemed to have gouda cheese on it and I am not a fan of cheese of any kind. Hubby got chicken fried chicken with veggies. Potatoes weren't seasoned and in general, just ok. After reading the menu off of the internet, just a bit disappointing. But, this was my first time to eat here and I'm sure we will give it another shot. read more

Just had dinner at Ripe. The food was excellent. My husband tried the fried buttermilk chicken and loved it !!! I had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken, simply delicious!!! The service was superb. Stopped by Sunday after church for brunch. The restaurant had many open tables both inside and outside but we were informed that there was a 15-20 minute wait to be seated, no explanation. When we asked about being seated at one of the empty tables the young lady said she would have to ask someone. At that point we left, and went down the street to Delicious, as always it was packed but we were seated right away. Their food and service has always been hit or miss, sometimes great sometimes they seem like they are running a restraint for the first time, but this is the last straw, we won't be back. read more

Brunch was spectacular. Excellent service by a very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable waitress. The hostess who brought us to our table was fantastic and really knew how to manage a large group of people waiting for Sunday brunch. Food was brought out in an efficient manner. The biscuits were a lovely appetizer to our tasty entrees: veggie hash and cornbread and egg benedict with slow roasted chicken. Portions were enormous. This place really knows what it's doing: the menu is innovative and the food speaks for itself. I like how they are geared toward using local ingredients, and yes, the cost will be more for that reason but I think it's well worth it. Get yourselves to Ripe! read more

We love ripe and have eaten there for years since Becky owned the restaurant. But I have noticed a huge shift in customer service since she sold the restaurant. Gone are the days of being greeted by the owner, etc.... We went to dine there last week and waited fifteen minutes with no one approaching our table to ask if we desired water, etc... When we left the couple next to us commented "I don't blame you we are leaving too". I could understand if they were busy but it was less than half full. Since March of 2014, this has not been the first time this has happened. And just a quick note the chubby guy with the pony tail is killing you. He is rude, obnoxious and slow-must subscribe to the model that rude servers make better tips. read more

When visiting EL Paso, I was looking for something out of the ordinary, Ripe is a 30 min drive away from the "heart" of El Paso, but it is worth it! Had a bridal shower there yesterday. Menus were printed wrong, food took forever!! One plate of Benedict's had black bean soup instead of just black beans. Waiters were great and tried their best. Person in charge or manager had the worst attitude, don't understand why they hire someone with no customer service. I understand if they charge $400 each hour, but they wanted to charge $100 extra for every 15 minutes extra. We didn't go over time. Had their house salad which was deliciously well balanced with fresh ingredients and not swimming in dressing. Added some ahi tuna which was nicely executed. I'll pass on the mango wine-rita though; not enough liquor and too much of a sugary drink. Service was great. Can't tell if there was enough parking since the restaurant is part of a shopping strip. So delicious! I've only been once, for a really tasty and filling brunch, but the food I had was outstanding. My friends loved their meals as well -- they each ordered items new to the menu, so I think there's a real effort here to mix things up. People were a bit worried that the change in ownership might affect the quality. I'm happy to go back and find out! read more

The staff was very helpful and the live music for Thursday was added bonus. Pricey entrees but very good salad, burgers and the soy glazed calamari was excellent. Brunch- If you like omelettes fried flat on a grill then rolled up this is the place for you- easy to fool the el paso crowd. The brunch brekfast was served breadless. asking for toast insulted the waiter who informed me he would also not eat any meat products there, therfore could not recommend any. He seemed totally disintereted in his work or the food. Weird pricing on drinks- a mojito mimosa was charged as a regular Mimosa with an upcharge for mojito style. El Pasoans think this is "austin like." I never had a bad omelette like this in Austin, except at Waffle house at 4 AM. If your toast is so precious, you should not charge $9 for a flat grill omellete with no toast. Not good strange- no one id supervising these 20 somethings with attitude. read more

We typically go here once a week for breakfast. This morning was beyond disappointing. 40 min wait to be seated.... ok not so bad giving it was Sunday right about the time church let out. We were seated in a booth. I literally slipped and fell into my seat because the floor was still soaked from a spilled drink. We ordered....waitress came back and said they were out of the food I ordered. We ordered again..... brisket Benedict with a side of fruit. 25 min later the food came out with an empty plate. "We are out of fruit" I cut into the Benedict instead of the poached eggs on the top, the eggs were literally hard boiled. The muffin was also blackened on the bottom to the point I couldn't cut it. I lost my appetite.... I asked the waitress to return the food and remove it from my tab. My kiddo finished his pancakes and I asked for the bill. The upcharge for the fruit was still on tab. Seriously? The waitress was embarrassed about the poor quality output from the kitchen and to be honest so am I. I've recommended this place to countless people as the best breakfast on the west side. FAIL! I'm not sure if you have a different staff in the back of the house, but I won't be coming back anytime soon. read more
