We came for dinner tonight and this is without a doubt the best restaurant we've been to so far in El Paso. Amazing food and amazing service as well. Jesus was our waiter and did great, super attentive and very welcoming! The calamari taco appetizer was awesome and the chicken cordon bleu sandwich was to die for! Definitely recommend this for a date night or if you're visiting!! I patronized this restaurant on Oct 3, a Saturday during a visit from San Diego Calif. upon entering, I was ignored for several minutes, but wrote it off as just a cultural thing from being in a different state. When I was finally waited on, the young lady was extremely rude. I asked to speak with the manager, who without hesitation defended the young lady, he then asked that I leave and that I would not be served. No problem there, as I was visiting for only 2 days. The menu items looked good enough, but the management of this establishment has forgotten the maxim, "The customer is king, they make paydays possible" extremely rude behavior! read more

Pretty good place. My friends and I went after we left the outlets. The lemonade is so good to me. It's tart and not sweet so keep that in mind. For an appetizer i had Mid East "chip & dip" and my meal was buttermilk chicken fried chicken. That chicken was so good and the mashed potatoes taste great and I got the dish because it's made with Gouda cheese n then the veggies were seasoned with love (had to have been). I have no complaints about the food and my friends got different things but they been there before. Wanted to go here for so long. Finally mamanged to convince my husband to try this breakfast place. We were a bit disappointed. About the food. Husband's coffee was bad, tasted old and burnt. Husband had an omelet that didn't have the vegetables and meat mixed with the egg but sort of tossed inside a fried egg, calzone style. Also, the dishes come with black beans, very Californian, not our favorite. But substituting is easy. I had egg with chorizo that didn't impress me. The avocado was tasty but already turning brown. The fruit was fresh but unfortunately they do serve the hard parts (outside of the melon and inside of the pineapple). I was looking forward to grapefruit juice but they were out of grapefruit all together. About the service. We entered 20 mins before closing. We were pleasantly surprised they didn't try to send us away because they were almost closing or anything (which happens a lot in El Paso). We were out before guests that entered before us anyway. But other than that not too impressed with the service. Our waitress pratically screamed at us she didn't have grapefruit juice? The waiting staff in general acts too cool for work. Probably a fun place to work but not great for customer service. Was asked if I would like to have more water only after the waitress saw we wanted to pay, more friendliness at the end. On our way to Houston and went about 4 miles out of our way to get here. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the shrimp tacos. I haven't seen her eat this much in a long time. Great menu- cant wait to go back, everything was interesting and looked delicious! They were very packed on Sunday, but there were seats available outside. I can definitely see why it is so popular. The service was great, I could tell they have quality management. Our waiter was new but well trained, and an experienced waiter checked on our table also. I ordered the Vaquero Breakfast Stack-- what an interesting dish! A pile of eggs and shredded pork on cornbread. I loved the balance of the sweet cornbread with the savory meat and the velvety eggs over easy. It would have benefited from a bit more of the chile verde- I was craving a kick of spice. The stand out dish was the caprese eggs benedict. Another interesting dish I have never seen before. The basil really added a great flavor:) Plus I loved the cooked tomatoes with the eggs, and then they had mozzarella which is always delicious, cheese should become a staple on eggs bene. They had a variety of mimosa flavors: grapfruit, mango, cranberry, classic, and mojito. I loved the grapfruit, cant wait to try the rest. Another added bonus was the biscuits that you get while you wait for your food- they were thick and soft with a sweet glaze on top. Also they came with apple butter- YUM! Definitely a yummy brunch placed- their obvious focus is great flavors, a unique menu, and high quality food. read more

This place is a neighborhood gem! Don't let the looks of being located in a shopping center deceive you...the food is some of the best in El Paso. We entered for a mere bite, but instead couldn't help ordering multiple, multiple items off the menu. We started with the calamari which is tossed in a spicy ginger sauce. One word: perfect. We also had the Spinach Chili Dip with Blue Corn Tortillas which was nice but we could have eaten more than the small portion served. Our table had multiple main course items: Kimchee Burger with a Siracha Saurce (house made kimchee! -- excellent), grilled salmon, Caprese Burger with fresh mozzarella, and multiple salads. Ripe was one of the first restaurants we ate at when moving to El Paso from Florida. 95% of the time the food is really good. Out of the 10 or so times we have eaten there 9 were really good, 1 was not so great. I do wish they had more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I am not a vegetarian or vegan, I'm more of a mostly-tarian, LOLm but I don't eat meat every day or every week, so it would be nice to have more than 1 option on the menu. The prices are a bit high, but the food is quite good, and there is a nice outdoor patio to sit at. read more

Wow this place is impressive! Not at all what I was expecting to find in these parts. Quality food, well prepared and great service. Restaurant is laid out very well and maximizes space. Atmosphere is great! You could get dressed up or feel at home in sandals and a tshirt (at least I did). I went with the Pecan crusted salmon -- due to recent raving reviews. It was incredible. In El Paso for a work trip and I love this place. Service is phenomenal and food is just as great. I got the caprese burger and I wanted to try it on the baguette and they were so accommodating. Instead of the normal burger patty the chef formed the party to the shape of the baguette and it was amazing! Definitely try this place out! Tip: they are really busy during lunch time during the work week. If you don't have time to sit I wouldn't recommend it. But for dinner is amazing! read more

I recently went here to meet some friends for brunch - and although the food tasted really good, all four of us spent the rest of that day (and the next) feeling really ill and sick to our stomachs. We're not sure what it was - we all shared our dishes on separate plates.. but it was bad enough that I don't think we will be returning. Ripe has become one of my favorite places to eat in El Paso. I've been there twice in the past 2 weeks trying different things on their menu. I've finally ventured away from the buttermilk chicken fried chicken... Which was hard because it is so delicious. The pecan crusted salmon was on point as well as the grape steak salad. Service has been fantastic every time I've been recently. I am glad to see them expand into the two adjacent stores, however I do kind of miss the Japanese crepe place a little bit. As a new resident of El Paso and former foodie of Austin, I came across Ripe while trolling for places that incorporated live music into the dining experience. I was pleasantly surprised by both the atmosphere and the food Ripe brought to the table. I came in last night with my folks, who were visiting from Austin over the weekend, and was greeted with a smile by the hostess, Brianna. We were directed to a cozy table while a guitarist was strumming some relaxing tunes in the background. Our server, John, was awesome and really took the fact that we were all vegetarians into consideration when recommending options off the menu, as well as any substitutions that could be made. I appreciated the fact that regular burger patties could be substituted with a portabella cap instead; it definitely showcased that Ripe was vegetarian-friendly. The drinks were good (try the Mango Wine-A-Rita if you get the chance, it's delicious!), the food was fresh, the ambiance was trendy-casual, and the service was excellent. I couldn't finish my food and so was graciously offered a to-go box, which our server himself packed for me on my behalf. Thanks again, John! I take one star off only because my mom's Greek Salad consisted almost solely of greens; the tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives were rather sparse. This place is a little fancier and pricier than I am used to, but my friend was getting the check, so count me in. The menu is new age American, so to speak, pretty extensive with plenty of diverse options. It's one of those menus where everything sounds good to me except for one item in every dish (for instance, a bunch of ingredients plus mushrooms which I don't like). But the point is... everything sounded good. Maybe I was just starving when I came in, but their vast array of concocted delicacies all sounded appealing in some way. I was torn between about 4 or 5 meals. Just when I was about to order the ratatouille chicken I was informed they were out. I settled on the BBQ Salmon sandwich which the waitress recommended over the pecan crusted salmon. The BBQ Salmon sandwich was quite big, too large for me to finish (although we did share some calimari as an appetizer). The salmon was cooked well, nice and flaky but solid enough to hold its own in between bread. The baguette was tasty and fresh. The goat cheese was a nice touch and complimented the BBQ flavor well. There was a lot of slaw on it as well, which I wound up removing a lot of. It was good, I just didn't want as much as they provided. The sandwich as a whole was very rich and quite sweet, which is probably why I couldn't finish it. The cilantro lime sauce they came with was nice but a little too watery. I was compelled to get sweet potato fries as my side which didn't help the cause. They were nice and crispy with a hint of salt, but quite sweet as well. I'd recommend getting something saltier as a side since the sandwich is so sweet. My friend got the pork loin which was very tender and tasty. Kinda wish I had ordered that myself. It came on a sweet blueberry corn salad which complimented the loin well. Definitely recommend. The calimari starter was great. Tender rings and an excellent soy ginger glaze. I avoided the jalapenos which wasn't hard to do if that's not your thing. Note: we had a dog and even though it was a chilly night in the low 60s, they had a server attend to us out on their patio which was nice. Also, they had some lounge music inside which I didn't get to enjoy but seemed legit. All in all, great menu choices for all palates. This is my sister and her fiance's favorite restaurant. Thus, I eat here every time I visit El Paso. I have seen it grow from the little panini shop into the gorgeous restaurant it is now. The panini have always been great. They are a Ripe staple. This place has really evolved into a little gem. They are all about local support and try to supply as much of their menu with local items as possible. They have a good little wine selection and the food is good. As mentioned, the panini are awesome. Last time I was there I tried their special. They were airing My Big Fat Greek Wedding and had a mediterranean themed night. They made a "gyro" with good flavor, though the pita was a bit hard. The tzatziki sauce was great, so that made me forgive the tougher pita. The salad was fine and the steak was steak, but the sauce made it all special. I also started with the hummus babaganoush appetizer and it was delicious. The babaganoush was very smoky and the pita wedges were buttery and delicious (unlike the gyro). They also were handing out paprika popcorn, which was really good! I may start making it at home now! My sister got a green chili potato soup that was lackluster at best. It was so lackluster I nearly forgot about it. I'm sure if I just added a little salt it would have been fine, but that shouldn't be necessary. I was introduced to a new type of sparkling red wine that was recommended over the Lambrusco. It was awesome. Be warned, it is sweet and chilled (for those of you unfamiliar with Lambrusco). The spot itself has undergone a great transformation. They put cute fake grass panels outside to make the patio more enclosed. The inside is darker and feels swankier than it used to. I'd actually be impressed if a date brought me here for dinner. They put up some new art that I like to give a feeling of an overall theme rather than a local gallery. Our server was very good and highly knowledgable. He was able to recommend that sparkly red wine that I loved and was pretty spot on with the food descriptions. He managed to keep up with Mark's camel water drinking tendencies so that in itself is impressive. All in all, I wouldn't call this my favorite place in El Paso, but it definitely garnered 4 stars and will also be a regular spot for me as well. read more

I would avoid unless you need a place to take your ailing grandmother that came in to town to attend whatever pivotal life changing event you are celebrating this year. This review is for breakfast. Service was decent but my tea glass sat empty for longer than I would like and the waiter disappeared for 10 minutes when were done eating and wanted the check. I had the Cajun hash and others at my table had the pancake short stack and chocolate pancakes. I tried all of them and found them all bland and tasteless. My hash was just okay, with the potatoes being too large and undercooked for my liking and the anduiele sausage being too small and dried out after being cooked too long. The caramelized onions added a little taste while the corn and beans added nothing. The price would be perfectly acceptable if the food quality matched. I being really generous giving this place 3 stars. I ordered sweet potato fries and they were very skinny and almost bunt. The salmon pasta was at best, ok. I expect a salmon steak atop my pasta but it was shredded abc mixed in. I'm not sure if it was fresh salmon or salmon from a can. My friend had he Chicken ratatouille and said it was nothing special. My wife and I survived living in El Paso because of this restaurant. It deserves a medal!!! My wife and I are very picky about our food and we love to eat out, but in El Paso we couldnt find a place that we could see ourselves becoming regulars. That is until we found Ripe. Interesting menu that spans a bunch of great dishes. I liked the take on Swedish meatballs (no longer on the menu). The shrimp bahn mi is also worth giving a try. The beer selection is good. They do special pairings of beer and dishes once and a while. I recently tried the pear salad with seared Ahi tuna. That dish pushed you guys up to 5 star. What a great dish. The grape steak salad is awesome. Also a 5 star dish. Perfectly cooked steak with a salad that keeps you interested. (They give you a generous salad here so don't think it won't fill you up) The Calamari was also delicious. It comes glazed with an Asian ginger sauce that is just yum! The burgers here are just bad. I would not recommend them. I don't like the way they are pressed. They always seem to fall apart. I am not sure if they use 80/20 on a grill. I would think a place like this would nail a burger. Tried them all and was not digging it. The flavors they go for are just not right. The fried chicken dish is awesome. If you haven't had that, do yourself a favor and order it. The salmon sandwich is definitely also bomb. The turkey pesto panini needs a better meat to bread ratio. There is just too much bread with that sandwich. I liked the mushroom pasta but I would not say it excelled in any way. Just a good dish. The brunch menu here is awesome too. I finally got to hit it up a few times. I am giving Ripe a preliminary review of three stars with plans to return and give them another shot at four stars. Positive Number One: This place has a very nice vibe. We sat outside in the little patio area. It was great. They have a panel up to block the sun and wind, but you still have the feeling of being outside which is fantastic in El Paso since there are relatively few places with that advantage. Positive Number Two: The service. Very friendly yet not overbearing. Readers of my reviews know that I loathe being over attended. At Ripe the service was a good balance. And they were accomodating to our needs (see Positive Number Three below) Positive Number Three: They are dog friendly. Coming from a city that embraces dogs and has many many dog friendly places to eat, I find it appalling that El Paso has so few. Actually, only this one that I know of. We sat on the patio, there was another dog in attendance, and it was great. We need to have more patio/dog-type places in El Paso. Not so Positive, but Not so Negative either: The food. Our botana was the calamari which was really nice. Crispy and spicy. And non of that slab-type calamari that the chains are using. My mahi mahi sandwich, however, was a bit dry. But I'll try something more mainstream next time. The shoe string fries are really good, but they need to be a lot hotter. Next time I'll ask in advance to bring them hot hot hot. So go, eat, and weigh in with your opinion. read more

Yum! Hidden gem! The place is kind of off the beaten path, but well worth the visit if your looking for a healthy menu. They offer fresh ingredients at good prices. There are lots of options for vegetarians as well. The staff was patient and attentive. Inside was cute and comfortable. They have a full bar! The only negative for me was that my mango mimosa was extremely pulpy, but still delicious until I got toward the bottom of the glass. Too thick for me. read more

Ripe is absolutely fantastic! Living only a few minutes from the location, I've eaten here many times and have not once been disappointed. Service: very friendly and sometimes quirky. Average speed. Sometimes the owner greets the customer, which is nice. Atmosphere: clean, family and date friendly. Live music on Saturdays is lots of fun. My only complaint is in the summer the misters outside can be really wet and annoying. Food: the sweet potato fries are wonderful and are really complimented by the bitter cilantro sauce that goes with them. I reccomend the ahi tuna sandwich with a side of their fantastic shoe string fries ( I usually order some chipotle aoli on the side, delicious) but really, its hard, if not impossible, to go wrong. read more

I've been to Ripe twice now and I have one word for you -- amazing. I wish I could just stop right there but I have to write a little bit more for this to be considered a review and not a tip. I have been to Ripe's brunch and dinner. If I had to pick, I would go for brunch. I had the Cajun salmon Benedict and we split a monkey cake. I normally don't have a problem with sweets, but even the monkey cake was a little too sweet for me. Delicious, but I'm glad that we decided to split. The Benny was on point. Service was attentive, but not to the point where they ask you how your food was before you have even taken a bite yet. Snaps for Ripe! I'll continue to be a regular here. read more

I've only been to Ripe for Sunday brunch (as was recommended to me by friends). I'm glad we did. It's pretty crowded after church, but the bright side of this is that they provide complimentary coffee while you wait for a table. I thought that was a nice touch. The wait staff is courteous and able to answer questions if you have them. The food was also terrific! The only downside to the whole experience was the smaller size of the restaurant causing a bit longer wait than other places. Once we had our table though, the wait was well worth it.
