DO NOT RENT HERE, THEY ARE A SCAM AND IT SEEMS THEY ARE ALL IN ON IT, I'm not 100 percent sure, but…read moreI honestly wouldn't be surprised. My Public Storage unit was burglarized and a substantial amount of my property was stolen, including my 60+ inch TV, clothes, shoes, purses, mirror, kitchen island stools, college degree, cap and gown, and sentimental belongings given to me by my mother before she passed away. I immediately filed a police report and submitted a claim through the insurance program associated with my Public Storage account (Orange Door/Sedgwick). I had been paying for this insurance for approximately three years. My biggest concern is that no one has been able to clearly explain what investigation was actually conducted. The Sedgwick claims manager could not tell me whether surveillance footage was reviewed, whether the Public Storage employee who contacted me about someone attempting to break in was interviewed, or whether the facility's records concerning the reported attempted break-in were investigated. I was simply told there was no available camera footage and that the claim was being closed. I have not even received a written denial explaining why my claim was denied or documenting what investigation was performed. I am requesting that information in writing. There is also a major security concern: Public Storage changed the lock to my unit and did not provide me with the new key, meaning the facility had access to my unit while I did not. I was later informed there was a record at the facility regarding an attempted break-in. Was that incident actually investigated? I still have no answers. I contacted Public Storage customer service after Sedgwick closed the claim and was transferred multiple times before being told the matter would be escalated to a regional manager. I have already spoken with that manager and my concerns were not meaningfully resolved. I paid for this storage unit and insurance for years, with my monthly cost eventually exceeding $200. When a substantial amount of my property was stolen, I expected an actual investigation and some accountability. Instead, I have been passed from person to person without clear answers. I am not claiming that I know who stole my belongings. I don't. I am saying that there are serious unanswered questions about the facility's security, the reported attempted break-in, the changed locks, the lack of access to my unit, the availability of surveillance footage, and the insurance investigation. I am now collecting my police report, insurance documents, correspondence, emails, and other evidence and will be filing complaints with the state Department of Insurance, state Attorney General/Consumer Protection authorities, and the FTC for review. I have also seen other reviews reporting theft and security concerns at this location. I cannot independently verify those experiences, but the similarities are concerning. I will be posting this same account on Yelp as well, so there is a record of my experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend considering other storage options before renting here.

There has been a known rodent problem since September that management has failed to properly address or communicate to tenants. Several of my belongings were damaged, and others exposed to mice excrement as pictured. The only response from management has been to place glue traps, which do nothing to resolve the larger issue. When I requested to move units because of the infestation, I was initially offered a new one at a higher rate, which I found shocking and poor customer service, and then moved to another unit on the same floor--only to find that one quickly infested as well. Despite acknowledging the rodent issue, management offered no meaningful assistance or compensation beyond insurance that didn't cover the extent of the damage. This experience was extremely disappointing. Avoid storing your items here, and if you are currently stored on the 3rd floor, I would strongly suggest checking your items for signs of rodents.

Luckily my unit wasn't damaged but I was shocked that nobody informed me of what happened. Nobody is ever working at the office anymore so I called their listed number with no answer so I left a voicemail wondering what happened to my unit that is fully paid and why again I WAS NOT NOTIFIED about whatever is going on with my unit! It appears that it was broken into because there are many units near me that have the same red lock on them and evidence of cut pad locks on the ground. Spoke to a fellow renter in the complex and he said there have been people living in some of the units that have been trying to break into other units that he has had to run off before. UPDATE 4/21/20: Spoke to employee of management company that was hired by the owners last year and he told me that there were over 30 units broken into and they are going the video surveillance but the quality of the cameras the owners use is "subpar". Yet, their website says they have on-site security there "almost around the clock". A complete lie. Owners have known about the homeless staying in empty/broken units for years and have been warned about the subpar quality of their cameras for a long time but refuse to put any money into needed repairs or security issues.
