My mom had her transmission and some other work done here. She always brings her vehicle here because she's used Ricky for several years. The service station is located on a busy street so pulling out can be difficult at times. This visit my mom was having her transmission rebuilt. The work was quality work and the price was very competitive. In my opinion the service was great. It took about a week from beginning to end. They will NOT look out for their customers. They lie and cheat and mislead and do not care about their customers. Do not go here. They are not the same as when it was Ron's lube, No matter what they tell you. They over charge and do not fix any of the problems. Then they have people they know give them good reviews but if you look at all the reviews you will see they don't do good work. Please don't waste your time or money. read more

I've always gone here when it was Ron's and the price for an oil change was honestly hard to beat. I worked not far from there when it was Ron's and they had competitors going around for the price of an oil change, when when we mentioned Ron's -- even the competitors agreed. So compared with the last oil change I got 3ish months ago (standard before next one), my bill was $70ish for synthetic. Ok, sure whatever it's a different vehicle since the last time I came here before then. Took it for its routine oil change, to my surprise was $100. Same vehicle, same service, same oil. So basically this is the 2nd time I took my same vehicle to find it at a different price I don't know what changed within 3 months but it took me by surprise. I also noticed the sign of prices removed by the bay door before you enter. The main reason I like coming here is because they have mostly the same technicians from Ron's. read more

Tuesday Nov 18,2025 Oil change and system "check up" Why another 5 star: Over the years they have demonstrated that they can do BMW Maintenance competently. Recently Rick's successfully performed our first ever Smog Test. Today Oil change done while I waited. Everything checked out OK. The tech mentioned Brake Fluid so I checked the On-Board computer and sure enough , it mentioned Brake Fluid change in 3 months = put into my calendar for next oil change in February . I wanted to get the check engine light cleared to pass smog. Ended up spending up $1000 on parts and the problem didnt get solved. I went back and forth with them. They would say-drive a few days for 100 miles and see if it clears. There were numerous codes. One part was very hard to locate. I left and took it to a dealer. They inspected it thoroughly and said it needs thousands of dollars of work and didnt even guarantee that it would end up passing smog. read more

I came in for my 2017 Nissan Sentra breaks. They checked to see what needed to be done and before working on it, they asked me if I wanted it worked on. I don't recommend. I Took my car to Rick lube at pacific coast highway at Long Beach to get it fixed, I was charged over 400 dollars but the issues was not resolve. I didn't get my money back. To avoid headache, do yourself a favor and go to another mechanic. read more

Ron....i miss you man. I miss Ron's Lube and Tune so bad. I'd always go there for a quick, friendly oil change. I'm and out in less than 20 minutes. Never any issues, never any upsell. Hell, I wouldn't even have to leave my car, it was always a positive experience. Rick... Who are you man. They refused to do my oil change. Said it'd be too difficult. I even saw one of Ron's mechanics there. Ron never had an issue, what changed Rick? I drive down PCH a lot, and Ron's used to be slammed busy all the time; I'd have to come in at opening to ensure I'd be seen. Rick's is always empty every time I drive by. For good reason. Nothing makes me sadder than having found out that Ron's is now Rick's and is under new management. I went not realizing but noticed right away that the faces were different as well as the 'tude. Still, I gave the benefit of the doubt and went ahead and parked my car in for that oil change and yup... got overcharged... for being female. I have never paid more than $60-65 for an oil change with Ron's and this first time with Rick, my charge was $160. Rick and I are officially done, before we even started! read more

I went in to have my A/C checked, and they told me I needed to replace the entire system for over $900. That didn't sit right with me, so I got a second opinion at another shop--and all I needed was refrigerant, which cost just $60. I strongly believe this place tried to take advantage of me. If you're a woman, especially going in alone, be very cautious--they may try to overcharge you. I won't be coming back. read more

SCAMY!! I used to come here often when Ron was the owner. Very kind and honest guy, a real community place. I sent my 80-year-old mother there to have her oil changed. When she got there and told the men she wanted an oil change and if they could replace her windshield whipper fluid. . . they quote her a cost of 50 bucks. . . and hour later come to her with a 800 dollar bill!! I'm extremely upset as she did not authorize these extra charges or services. . . Shes on a fixed income and this took more than she had to give. IM so ashamed i sent her here to be scammed. TAKE NOTE - this place is not affiliated with Ron or Rich from Ron's Lube & Tube. The long and short of this review: overpriced and crappy customer service. I have been a loyal customer of Ron and his shop for nearly 20 years. I was happy to see that this shop was re-opening, and I figured this was a renovation with the same services being offered. I figured Rich was the "RIck" in the shop's name. I expected similar service quality and pricing but was immediately disappointed. This has become as bad as Jiffy Lube, with high prices and poor customer service. For an oil change, pricing is nearly double what I paid previously (using same oil type). Also tried upselling me.
