Horrible place I took my truck there to fix an engine issue. They charged me $1,100 and my truck sounds worse than when I took it there. When I drove off my truck was smoking & when I went back up there they responded then it is something that I must have just did. This place is garbage & I will be seeing. I brought my 2005 GMC Sierra to LB Auto Tech for a nox sensor light. my neighbor and I changed it out but according to them we didn't use OEM parts and that caused the issue. I paid $750, waited a few days and was hopeful their swap would solve the issue. When I got home I checked under the hood and saw that they didn't put the cover back on my motor. When I called, no apologies just bring it in, so I did. I can handle a mistake and I can handle no apology then or when I brought it in. A day later my box sensor light came back on. So I brought it back in and after several days and several of my phone calls (none from them), they told me they needed to take apart the motor and it would be at least $3K to find out why there is oil in the cylinder, or $5K to replace the entire motor. They said they would quote the motor which I wanted a quote on because I can't afford to throw $3K at a question mark that could then still require motor replacement. So I picked the truck up and took it to ACA Automotive. Their hourly rate is $190 vs $135 at LB Auto Tech. But when I called the owner there was super friendly, optimistic and open to looking for a small diagnostic fee. I have now had the car back from ACA for weeks and no light. They checked for the misfire and oil in the cylinder that LB Auto Tech claimed and did not find any of it. The part that made me the most frustrated is that what ACA did was replace the nox sensor and when they removed what LBAT installed, it was Duralast, the same non-OEM (as opposed to AC Delco) that I had installed myself before paying $750 to them. I've been thinking a lot about what happens at LBAT. I wanted to believe they were just overwhelmed. But now that the other mechanic found a Duralast part it makes me wonder if they even did any work on my truck for $750. The hassle of bringing it to LBAT three times, for days and days, calling every day with no updates in status and then they tried to get me for $5K for a new motor for my 2005 Sierra with 120k miles, while not even installing the OEM sensor they said they would leaves me very upset and wanting to share my experience in the hope that it may save you from being scammed. read more

I can strongly recommend Long Beach Auto Tech to anyone who is experiencing car troubles. My vehicle's transmission recently needed to be replaced, and LB Auto Tech efficiently took care of things. The services that the mechanics performed were reasonably priced, most other auto shops were charging close to thousands of dollars whereas LB Auto Tech charged less than $500, and they were very transparent about the work required. I've driven my car for close to a month since having my vehicle's transmissions replaced, and I haven't had any issues with it. Willie and the other mechanics were all very welcoming, and they broke things down for in an easily understandable way, which were two big factors on doing business with them. This is by far the best mechanic experience I have had. I brought my 2008 jeep in for a new alternator with no appointment hoping they would be able to fix it and the gentleman at the front said it should be done by the next morning. I also had a replacement hose for my air conditioning that they said would be no issue for them to install. They were super fast and my car was ready by 9am the next day. Over priced for bad work. The first time I went my car was overheating and needed a new radiator. I paid about $500 which I thought was fair. They were quick and did a good job. I went back to get my axles replaced and they told me I did not need tire alignment after so I drove like that for a few months. I had new tires and because my tires weren't aligned the profile got worn down fairly quickly. I went to get my tires aligned elsewhere and was told it's very basic knowledge that if you mess with the suspension you need to do the alignment. I decided to go back to Long Beach auto tech when my brakes started acting weird. I was told it was the APS system that needs to be replaced. I decided since my car was old and had many miles I would sell it instead of doing the repairs. The technician working on my car charged me $130 for diagnostics. He tried to turn off the dashboard airbag warning light and instead turned all of the warning lights on and my brakes were acting much worse than when I brought my car in. This was very upsetting since I wanted to sell my car and now all the dashboard lights were on. And I paid $130 to basically make my car worse than when I took it in. Long Beach auto tech quoted me $2500 to fix the APS system and some kind of air bag clock thing. I did both repairs somewhere else for $2000 and they were able to turn off my dashboard lights. I needed a serious repair to my SUV, which was caused by the many potholes that popped up everywhere due to heavy rains we experienced a couple of months ago. The mechanic I have referred to for years retired and we had a good rapport; so finding another mechanic has been stressful for me, as I generally do not trust people in the automotive industry (as a woman, it is hard). After speaking with Mr. Willie, I decided to bring my SUV in as I found him to offer a very fair price. I am very happy I did take a chance. They did an excellent job and was very professional. Came in to get my battery replaced since the battery kept dying when not run for 24 hours. I called to confirm they offered this service (which they do). They answered my call promptly and the woman an the line was extremely friendly and was able to address all my concerns. I drove over immediately and was greeted by a gentleman. He was able to bring my car inside immediately and did the replacement quickly. He also cleaned up the corrosion that had built up on the cables. During my (brief) wait, I sat in there waiting area on a super comfy couch, but they also have some chairs. They have the AC running which was amazing because its about 80 degrees out. They also have a TV for your viewing pleasure! I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable service. I'm glad to have found this place! read more

Review Short version: Honest, genuine, knowledgeable, and left knowing I had made the right choice. Longer version: It has been over a few months and although providing a review is rare for me, in this case I feel compelled to write this one. Mostly in the past I did my own service, when it was something I could handle. As time has gone on, realities of life, have driven me to find service on the outside. .. and I have had work done at multiple places throughout Long Beach and the surrounding area. We have an old converted camper van, and when it started making a loud puffing noise when running, I thought I had a blown head gasket or maybe even exhaust gasket. I literally called around to fifteen different shops, and brought it physically to two of them, and they all speculated about what the problem was, and no one wanted to work on it. Then I called Long Beach Auto Tech, and talked to Willie. When I brought it in and he evaluated, immediately he recognized the issue. They worked on it, didn't make a big deal out of it, and fixed the problem, (sort of rare issue with Ford vans where the spark plug strips out of the cylinder head). The bill was very reasonable. Knowledgeable, no fooling around, got straight to it, and fixed it in less than one day. Next issue we had was with our other car's brakes. An older Volvo, with an electronic solenoid for the parking breaks. They fixed that right away too. No nonsense. They are my shop of choice. read more

I moved from Long Beach to the Sacramento area over a year ago, but as more car issues come up I can't help but miss this place so much!! I'm a young girl so going to any auto shop can be really intimidating, especially because I drive a VW which a lot of general places have a hard time getting parts for. Here i felt so informed on what I needed, what my options were, and I didn't feel belittled or talked down to which tends to happen. I drove a pretty old car at the time and when I told Willie I wanted only the bare minimum done to ensure I could make a far drive safely he let me know what would be replaced, why it was necessary and left smaller concerns alone. Not only did I feel comfortable going here, but they even extended the service by sending me 2 follow up texts months apart to check in and make sure their work held up. I brought in our Prius on three occasions for a tune up, tires, and battery - all turned out great. I brought in my old Isuzu Rodeo, and they repaired it a couple times, and were honest enough to tell me it probably wasn't worth repairing the notoriously faulty transmission (which would have been a nice $$$ for them). Had to have my brake rotors resurfaced last minute. Went to PepBoys first and they said it would take 5 hours when all they really needed to do was take the 5 minutes to put the rotors on the machine and then tend to other things. Called up this place instead and they said they'd have it done in an hour. From the time I showed up and left it was max 45 minutes. They got the job done quicker and cheaper.
