Third time I've been to Pepboys after getting ripped off at Jiffy Lube (hid the prices until it was time to pay/scammed into getting my transmission fluid changed when it didn't need it). Now three times, I have had wonderful service at this Pep Boys. I love the people behind the counter (I'm starting to recognize them) and I never get upselled into oil or other things I don't need/want. This time, aside from the oil change, I let them know I was having issues with squeaky brakes. I was taken back and shown my brake pads and given a quote. The price was reasonable and they were fixed in no time. I'll always drive right past Jiffy Lube to Pepboys for fast, honest service. Worst experience ever. I had my car towed there Saturday morning. this location said they would have someone look at it Sunday. I called Sunday to check on it and they said a technician wouldn't be in until Monday now. Monday rolls around and I call them again first thing in the morning and they tell me the technician doesnt come in until 11am! Not once did I receive a call/email/text regarding my car. I had to constantly call them (if I even got through because they will put you on hold and hang up. Multiple times!) Finally, they tell me that I just need a fuel hose clamp. It is now 310pm on Monday and they are requesting $300 for service and parts and I have until 315pm to decide, for the part to come in the next day. I agree and call back for an update the next morning and they said they would call me as soon as the part came in. Did they? No. Of course not. Then after extending our hotel checkout AGAIN (we are from out of state) at around noon, I called and was on hold for 30 minutes before the rude woman tells me, "oh the part came in and your car is ready". My car was filthy when I got it back. $300 and 4 days later for a hose clamp is ridiculous. Plus the lack of communication and respect for their paying customers should tell you to GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Went for some repairs on my Kia soul just needed a camshaft sensor replaced but over the next few day my check engine light kept turning on. 1st day camshaft sensor replacement $200 - second day light came back on took it back needed some more work $700 - third day got it back my entire engine went out quoting me $7k. Not once didn't anyone mention "hey your car might have some bigger issues". So basically I took it in to get fixed and it came back worst then I gave it to them. Everyone was "nice" but definitely felt like they were hiding behind a smile. No one explained to me that engine failure was a possibility... it definitely seems like some shady things go on here. I took my KIA to them after giving them a second chance because last time I went there for repairs on my Nissan THEY CRASHED MY CAR. (They paid for repairs but still). The pep boys experience continues to linger with me after having transmission fluid leak into the garage and needing to rent a car. My regular mechanic says the part installed was defective and the front axle shaft they put in was incorrect leading to continuing leakage of transmission fluid in my garage. They replaced the seal which Pep boys said they installed and the unit still leaked, then they found the defective part was the problem and after paying for a new part I think the problem is finally solved. Brought my car in for service at 8 AM and Betty was delightful and customer service at the desk. Their computer was down but still didn't let her stopl heard from providing good service and helping me! I usually take my car since it's a Mays Miata roadster to Browning Mazda Cerritos but instead I tried them and I'm glad I did. I got front brake pads and got the rears done because they had my car up on the rack and showed me and I just only needed the front but I thought let me get it done since I'm going home to New Orleans on a road trip in December once semester ends I am a nursing student. I'm poor and I watched the budget and Browning Mazda was to charge me several hundred dollars and then some for a break job. I will be back. They just texted me and said that my car is done.!!! My car was in pristine condition, but when I picked it up, there were fresh, deep scratches on the tailgate where the spare tire sits. I asked to speak with a manager that same day and was told none were available. When I finally spoke with the manager, they claimed they reviewed the indoor cameras and saw no equipment touch my car. I asked them to check the parking lot cameras where the worker moved my vehicle, only to be told they don't have any cameras outside. Avoid getting your car serviced here. However, after speaking with the district manager and coming to a resolution with the store manager things turned around for the better and they were fair in the process and pricing adjustment. 've been coming to this specific location for the past 4 years, and this past weekend I took my car for the last time. You lost my business. In my four years coming here to get an oil change I have never been asked about charging me $9.99 for resetting my display oil light.....I made a tik tok video to see if this is common practice as I have never been charged... They fixed my Chevy Volt right up. They are one of the preferred repair facilities for Carvana, so I brought my car in for a repair while it was still under the 100-day warranty. Desiree hooked me up. She was polite and friendly even though it was late in the afternoon where everyone is typically running on empty from the stresses of the day. She got my car inspected, called everyone from the dealership for my parts, to Carvana's 3rd party entity (Bridgestone) to check if the repair was covered, and got my keys back to me and on the road before 4:30pm even though I brought it in around 2:30pm. The breakroom had a Keurig with fully stocked pods, cream, sugar, leather chairs, and a flat screen TV. There was even a workstation, media charging station where I could work and charge both my phone and laptop at the same time. It was fast, clean, and a really pleasant experience. I am not sure what the other bad reviews were from, but perhaps they were from before COVID or a long time ago and the staff has turned over because my experience at this Pep Boys was easy and enjoyable. read more

Would give minus 5 stars if possible. What a rip off for a simple flat tire repair. Called store at 18:00 to see if they could repair a flat tire, the lady who answered told us they were open until 20:00 and recommended that me come asap and the price would be $26.98 for a tire repair. We arrived 10 mins later and when we checked in we were told that the repair would be $76.98 because we had an electric vehicle. We were shocked at the bait and switch and I questioned the employee why was there a $50 extra charge for a tire repair that was on an EV car, his reply was it's company policy and I told him a tire is a tire there are no special EV tires. We had no choice we needed the tire repaired to get to the hospital where our daughter was in labor. We always go to Americas Tire for our tire repairs which are free and I recommend you never go to Pep Boys for any services. read more

After 4 hours, they removed ONE nail and then charged us $94 just to remove a locked hub without a key. The part costs around $30 and the job takes 15 minutes, yet they refused to budge. Customer service was terrible--rude, dismissive, and basically "just pay it and wait." I even asked to speak with the manager and was told he was "busy in the shop." Right. I spoke with Madu Saturday to coordinate shocks for my car. It was scheduled for Good Friday at 3pm. I arrived at 3:05, signed paperwork and waited. It is now 7pm and walking outside, I see my car up with rear tires off and no one working on it. I was told that 1 mechanic is currently working on my car and 5 other cars. Was told he is almost done with 2 then will go back to mine. Now after 8pm and NO ONE is working on my car. This Pep Boys lost longtime customers. We have been coming here for years, and have had all of our maintenance done here on both our vehicles. Giving thousands over the years. But that ended due to the customer service we received a couple weeks ago. My husband and I came in for an oil change on my new car. Unfortunately, my old car got hit by a big rig and had been totaled. We had purchased the lifetime wheel alignment just before Pep Boys got rid of it. It had been less than a year since we purchased it when the accident happened, and we didn't get to make use of it. We explained this to gentleman helping us and asked if Pep Boys could possibly comp us 1 wheel alignment so we weren't at a total loss. That's when he brought over a woman with wavy hair to help out. She was a bit rude and said there was nothing she could do, that they're not allowed to transfer the lifetime alignments over to another vehicle. We explained that's not what we're asking. Just given the circumstances, if a bit of customer service could be provided and a 1 time comp can be made. She said no, there was nothing she could do. This isn't the first time that we've had a difficult experience with this employee. My husband also had a rude encounter with her when he came in to get his Lyft certification for his vehicle. First - all of the employees appeared to be late to work. I have been coming to this place for over 20 years. Oil Change today took 1hour 38 minutes. I was the second customer and I had an 8 o'clock appointment. The lady before me had a situation that only took about 10 minutes. Assuming there was only one guy working the garage, I guess It took an hour and a half to just change the oil. They actually charged me 10 extra dollars to reset the oil change alert in the car's settings. Overall lengthy experience that should've taken less than a half an hour. read more

Pep Boys was very helpful in a tough situation. Our car broke down in Long Beach on our way home to San Diego. They were the only ones open late afternoon on a Saturday so we were towed there. The service person, Rocio, was very kind and helpful. They diagnosed the issue, and another issue, but weren't able to work on it that day (understandable). It was eventually fixed. However, they get 3 stars because apparently they did not reconnect the harness properly so we had no air conditioning. But I needed to get the car back to San Diego so I didn't return to have them look at it. I took it to a different local Pep Boys to fix. So if that one thing had been done it would have been 5 stars. read more

Initially came for clutch fluid change but experienced issues driving within a week. It was still moving but towed it back to have them look at it. When I dropped it off, they called asking what was wrong with it, since it seemed normal. Two days went by and I did not receive any updates. I called the following day and it had been done the day prior but no one ever reached out to me. They then quoted $1,300 for master and slave cylinder only, stating that afterwards they can take a look at the clutch. After picking it up, it's was completely not drivable. The clutch was all the way down with no pressure. They claimed it was given to them in that condition, despite initially calling, confused about the seemingly normal condition. This place is a complete waste of time since they cut corners. They didn't even put the fluid cap back on. I also saw multiple rats coming from the service area. If I could give 0 stars I would. I needed to get my headlight bulb replaced. A very simple procedure. I called them and spoke to BETTY. She told me it would take 30 minutes and it's best to schedule an appointment. I scheduled the appointment for 4 pm. I arrived a little before 4 pm thinking it would take about 30 minutes, so I waited at the store. At 4:45 i enquired about my car. They did not even start on it yet. I spoke to MADHUR about it. He was very rude saying that it would take about 90 minutes and would be ready by 5:30. I was annoyed but what could I do. I took a walk and came back around 5:15. I looked and my car had not been moved since I arrived at 4 pm. I went to the counter again and talked to DESIREE. I asked if she knew anything about when my car would be completed because MADHUR told me that it would be ready by 5:30. Desiree asked me if it was a Prius. I said yes, and then she said it was in the bay and would be finished in about 15-20 minutes. I went back outside and looked and my car was NOT in the bay. It was still in the spot when I first arrived at 4 pm. And now, DESIREE lied to me. I told her that my car is still parked in the spot when I first arrived and was NOT in the bay. She said she will find out. About 10 minutes later, she came back and said it was done. I asked her what happened, and she said that she just did it herself. Basically, it took less than 10 minutes to finish it and I waited for almost 2 hours!!! And to make it even worse, DESIREE offered up no apology or anything.
