My mom's car suddenly stopped starting a few days before Christmas and after a failed attempt to jump the car, we assumed it was an issue with the starter since she's had some issues with it in the past. I spoke with Jamel who said we'd be able to drop the car off and get repairs done when the shop opened after the Christmas holiday and gave us an estimate for the work to replace the starter that was very reasonable! After the van was dropped off, he gave us a call to let us know he actually found a loose battery terminal and saw the battery was super dead so we probably didn't wait long enough when trying to jump it the day before. He charged the battery and we were able to pick up the car the same day! I went to them for an oil change. They only charge $35 if you bring your own oil and filter. I found them to be completely honest and they didn't add on any extra fees. It is really hard to find a trustworthy mechanic, we all know the struggle. I haven't had a mechanic I trust in over five years, my last mechanic retired and so even though I would drive all the way to Riverside to see them that was no longer possible. When I received my car back from the dealership after a total engine replacement And it was down 2 quarts of oil from the drive home I needed to find a trustworthy mechanic to check the work and see what it happened I took the car here after finding it on Yelp, and I could not be more pleased. They saw that the car had been returned to me with a very vital component leaking as soon as the oil pressurized, and if I continue to drive the car I would've had another engine failure with a week because all the oil was spewing out of the engine block This is because the dealership did not do basic safety testing before giving me back the car, and it was something that should have been covered under warranty. I chose to get the car fixed there rather than taking a back to the dealership because I wanted to go someplace I trusted, and the prices are beyond reasonable. I have a very old car. 23 yeas old. Audi TT. Has incredible sentimental value to me. Unfortunately, I had it sitting out in the sun, not being used, for years as I used my parents' Toyota Camry - basically to took them everywhere. Well, as I no longer had to use the Camry any longer - it became a choice. The TT or the Camry. Sentimentality over came practicality, and I chose the TT. But now NOTHING works on it. I mean practically nothing. And I work at a Non-Profit - for not a little bit of money. I've been desperate to find a really good... reliable... honest... reasonable... talented mechanic. Tall order I admit - I've experienced so many that were none of those things. I want so badly to make this car Cherry again, which I know is going to be a long, long road to travel. A road I desperately want to travel down. I wanted to find the right place to help me do this - slowly over the time needed to do it in. Jamel was amazing and honest. He ran the codes for free on my truck and told me that it could be a number of things, but It was saying I had a bad catalytic converter. He then said but he doubted that but did not want to have to charge me and change everything because it would be north of 2k. He told me to go home think about what is happening and to look on YouTube etc for similar issues and let him know what if anything I wanted him to do.
