Best certified smog check spot in Long Beach. No nonsense fair pricing. If your car fails, or the car isn't ready for a smog check, they will do it for you later at minimal cost. It's just too bad they don't like to fix old German cars. read more

Lee's Auto Service - Auto Repair Near Me - Long Beach, California

I took my car here for a routine oil change, and the same day I got home, I noticed oil leaking all over my driveway. Because I was getting ready to go out of town, I took the car to another mechanic to have it checked. I was told that something underneath the vehicle had not been properly tightened/secured during the oil change, which caused the oil leak and led to serious gasket damage. I'm now being told the repairs could cost around $6,000. My car was not having this issue before the oil change. What should have been basic routine maintenance turned into a major mechanical problem and an extremely expensive repair. I'm very disappointed with the service and the damage this has caused. I would strongly recommend anyone coming here for an oil change check underneath their vehicle for leaks immediately afterward and have the work inspected if anything seems wrong. read more

I've always had a great experience with Lee's Auto Service. To get my car smog checked, they are fast, efficient, and polite. I don't understand why anyone would give them a bad rating. I was referred by my very trustworthy mechanic years ago, and they are both excellent service providers. read more

Lee's auto is the only shop I truly came to trust. I am a young woman and so it's always scary going to car shops because we just know that they're going to try to finesse us. But I trust Lee's auto shop with my car. Every time I take my car to the shop, he is able to get it to me by the next day or at most two days. I know he's not trying to scam anyone because I went to the shop one time because my battery kept messing up and he looked at me and said " if you were able to drive to the shop, it's not your battery. It must be something else." and turned me away. lol like he could've easily made up something to make money. love him!!! read more

Once upon a time, Dear Son, had his car break down. We went to Lee's upon recommendation. Mr. Lee was great! He helped fix the car for a fair price. He is also very personable! Super glad we found Lee's . The end. read more

I feel ripped off from going to other mechanics in the area my whole life. Spencer and Pak are the best. They are almost 1/2 the price as everyone else. Finally met an honest mechanic for the first time after 30 years of driving. Bummed and happy at the same time. Please stay in business! read more

I gave him a brief description, Spenser was quick in diagnosing the problem Highly recommended Professional, knowledgeable and honest! read more

The guy here has such bad energy. He flat out refused to fix a small repair on my car because he was busy and didn't feel like it (even though I told him I could leave it for multiple days). And he acted like my smog check was the biggest inconvenience to him. He told me it was $8 for a re-test, but when I failed my second test due to testing too early, he said my next test would be full price! No transparency in pricing and bad energy all around. Will not be coming back. read more

Went in for a Smog check, done in 10 minutes. Super nice people! The pen holders are funny! Will be back!

Spencer was great! I have taken my car here the last 3 times and every time I am so thankful I did. The price is a great deal. He is able to meet my requested service same day and within a few hours. I have recommended this place to my family and friends and they also have had great experiences. read more

Came here and got my brakes done, he got me in and out and was the best priced by far. He did a fantastic job, I'm happy I found a good honest mechanic. Thank you Spencer - mark read more

We brought our work vehicle in for a standard smog check yesterday and failed (we've been unplugging the battery following a theft, and it caused the OBDII to reset). Spencer was kind enough to advise us it would require "a few hundred miles" to clock a full drive cycle. Luckily, we had a lot of driving on today's schedule so we were able to come back for a re-inspection today. When we arrived, Spencer was quick to get our vehicle into the bay and run the test again. We fortunately passed! Thank you, Spencer, for taking the extra moment out of your day to help us with this. All in all we paid $41.72 for the initial test, and $8.75 for the retest. $50 for prompt service (and help on a solution) is a bargain. read more

Went to get a smog check. Reasonably priced, relatively quick and good customer service. He even backed my suv out as the entrance is pretty tight. Will be back for the next one. read more

Honest and reasonable. Service is fast and the mechanic is friendly. The only mechanic we use now.

This is one of my Turo cars, and the front brakes were wearing down. I looked online for different auto mechanics in the Long Beach area, call around to at least a dozen locations. Not only did Lee's auto service have one of the better rates, they were also extremely well knowledgeable, Fast paced, and all the way around an excellent experience. read more

I wrote a review about them before and deleted it in an attempt to be as fair as possible. I double, triple and quadruple down on what I probably said before. Not only are they, Spencer specifically, not personable or friendly, they seem to be incompetent with odd doses of sarcasm and will ultimately have your car worse than it was before you took it to them. Being asked the simplest of questions, you'll get responses of, "I don't know" or "I'm not sure" and the easiest of them all, "you should take it to the dealer." I don't know, it could be just me but I've stopped taking my car there for oil changes as it seemed to ride different after the two or three times I had them do it. I also, trying to pass a simple smog because they are conveniently located down the street, can't get an answer on how to get an issue that seems simple and minimal in cost, to fix, to pass smog. Like I said, it could just be me, but my suggestion would be to pay attention to what's going on with them over there when they are communicating with you about your vehicle because they just don't seem to care about or be good at helping a general public. Popular quote on Yelp reviews that I completely agree with here is, I'd give them zero stars if I could. Negative stars if possible. read more

Called to ask about quotes and pricing and I got hung up on without finishing my sentence. 0/10.

Solid place -honest, convenient and fast! I always come here to get my smog checks. The man who works there is super chill

They were easy to work with. I called about the check engine light and told them the code that was read at autozone and i brought my car over to them and they were able to fix my check engine light issue. very efficient. brought it in at around 11am i got it back around 3pm. would recommend! read more

Honest and great service. Reliant and professional. I've been coming here for the past year:

Great and speedy service, very accommodating at the last minute. They were able to fix my issue and were very professional. Would recommend

For many years, Lee's Auto is and has been our go to place for smog checks. We recommend Lee's to anyone who needs a smog check.

Amazing service! I called and asked if they take in walk-ins, he said yes, pulled up, boss did his thing and I was out in less than what it felt like 10 mins! 100% recommend. Thank you! read more

I called a few places. His price was about $20 below others nearby. I drove right over and onto the machine. He looked at my paperwork and noticed my oversight that I didn't need smog check this year (...busy mom of 3!). He was very polite and respectful about it as I exited. I'll definitely be back!! read more

i had been here before only for a smog check - and that was a seamless experience the guy is a bit boisterous but he's kind and funny (he may make some dad jokes but i still remember the joke and plan to use this to others) - he's trustworthy and not trying to take advantage of you like a dealership or other body shops would i was quoted 160+ for just the labor for replacement at the dealership. i had the new battery itself from the dealership but they wouldn't just do it real quick at a lower cost lol. i didn't know how to do it myself and my husband didn't have time until the evening bc he had to go into the office. Lee's quoted me a very very reasonable price for the replacement labor. i'm so glad i made the call. it's also a perk that he speaks korean fluently - and i'm korean! if you want no frills, no price gauging kind of service - this is a place to go. he also finished in about 20 mins instead of the 40 mins he initially said!!!!! saved a lot of time and money - thank you! would highly recommend - and i made sure to add tip for the service he provided! read more

Honest & good person. Took care of my radiator & was a stand up man they the whole process. Leave your car with Lee & he will make sure you're good. read more

Honest work! He's definitely Reliable. His services are affordable. Is based on first come first serve what is good because you get the car back faster. I've never had any issues with him and his work. Great guy as well. I believe he's the owner, but I also don't think his name is Lee.. besides that the location is great and easy to find read more

There was rattling noise when I turn mg a/c on. Pak was quick to diagnose, ordered part for delivery the following day (it was already afternoon when i came in). It was installed as promised and no issues. Will be coming back here to do a smog test. they were highly recommended and am glad i went here! read more

Came for a smog check. While I was there I asked for a quote for spark plugs since I was in need of that. They charged me hundreds of dollars LESS than what I was quoted at my usual oil change place. They performed my smog check and immediately ordered the spark plugs, took care of everything the same day. No BS and finished before the day ended. Definitely coming back! read more

If i could give 0 i would. How are you going to tell me you cant work on my car for a check engine light?! Aren't you a mechanic? Went in saying i need a smog but my check engine light is on and the 02 is not seating right. The guy responded saying he couldn't fix it?! Can you not order parts to fix it? Tried giving you business in two areas service and smog. Unbelievable!! Sounds like a plug n play shop. Weird how these good reviews are here read more

Holy cow! I got a smog, I was in & out, very quick service and good price! Thank you I will be returning.

I've been going to Lee for about 1-2 years now and I'm finally taking the time to write an honest review. He is so kind, straight to the point, and efficient. I never learned too much about cars so when I told him this the first time I met him he actually took the time to teach me how to change my own oil. Highly recommend this auto shop. The man knows how to run a business. read more

Spencer is amazing, I can always show up in peace knowing that he's going to be honest with me and not try to scam me. As a single mother that's always in a budget knowing Spencer exist is a blessing. One time I showed up walking and crying overwhelmed because my car left me stranded two blocks away and he walked with me and figured out how to get the car going long enough to get to the shop! Last time I showed up so scared because my car was "burning" and to my surprise it was only a $100 repair, that's because he's an honest person. There's also the older mechanic, I'm sure he does a lot of the work, he doesn't speak/interacts much but always smiles to greet you when you cross paths with him. He'll let you know about repairs that can wait and about for how long. read more

Lee's NEVER disappoints. Recently heard my rear brakes squeaking. Called discount tire and they quoted me with a 2 day turnaround. Then, My wife reminded me of Mr. Lee! Dropped off my car at 9am. Got the call it was finished at 1:30pm THE SAME DAY. And, THE PRICE WAS LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT THEY QUOTED ME AT DISCOUNT TIRES. Go to Mr. Lee, every time. Perhaps the last, honest mechanic. read more

They are very fair and honest here. It's a great place to get work done on your car. I am happy my wife and I found this place.

Lee's Auto Service is located at 7th and Termino in the city of Long Beach. I was on the Next Door app for my local neighborhood, and a resident asked for the best place to get your car smog checked for DMV. All comments pointed to Lee's Auto Service fir the fair pricing and customer service. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Spencer. Spencer had a customer ahead of me, so I sat outside fir a little sunshine. Spencer took my keys shortly after, and drove my car to smog stall for the test-which passed with 10 minutes. Spencer and I started chatting, told him that he was highly recommended by the local neighbors. Great customer service, and I was pleased with Spencer and the work done. I highly recommend Lee's Auto Service, they also do other automotive service. read more

Warning!!! Don't ever bring your car here for repairs. Spencer told my daughter, that she needed to replace her catalytic converter in order to pass the smog check; which he estimated at $2,000!!! I took her car to my mechanic, who said her catalytic converter was fine, and passed the smog check. Furthermore; Spencer has the worst social skills. He tells inappropriate jokes about women- even about his own wife and daughters. Very unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable; not to mention a crook and a liar!! read more

My car started smoking when I parked it Friday night and I don't live in Long Beach as of this dated review. I panicked. I found Lee's in the morning, called, and while Mr. Lee could not give me a definite diagnosis or approximate time, I felt assured that he would do right by me. I am absolutely thrilled by his service, how he has taken measurements to sanitize and protect his customers as well as his workplace, and would absolutely recommend them to anybody in the area. I am so fortunate that I found this man and his business today because I'm back in my car with no issues. Edit- my radiator cracked! The smoke was steaming. I read what horrible things could end up happening to my car. It's a 2000 model but only 230,000 miles! He was able to get parts in on a Saturday right away and I picked it up the same day, closer toward the end of day. I'm happy about that! Price was approximate for labor/time and parts! read more
