Wow they seemed to have renovated and the place looks much bigger, nicer and much more inviting. Can certainly rival the No Frills down on Silver Star now. I wonder if No Frills will still be available and reopen as there are plans to demolish the plaza for some new development. I think they can benefit from more open cash registrars as there is always lines. They do accept price match but from certain stores though. THey do sell out fast in the early morning on weekends on their hot items and tend to restock by 10-11 am only. Cashiers are nice and helpful employees at the store. Lots of parking but half of the parkling lot is full because of nearby businesses that share the parking lot. read more

I have been to this No Frills countless times for over a decade. It's in the same plaza as McDonald's, Felix and Norton's, Mr Sub, Pizza Pizza, Teriyaki Experience, and Shoppers Drug Mart. The Chinese restaurant next to the supermarket has changed ownership so often for the last two decades. I'm not even going to try and figure out what its current name is. I came to this store recently to get a few groceries my way home. The produce section looked fresh. It was bright and clean. It looked different and pleasing to the eye. It is definitely an improvement since I was last here. M&M's candies were on sale. My latest flavour addition is the hazelnut spread. I also got Harvest Snaps that are highly addictive. I lined up at the express checkout. The woman was friendly. I paid with a debit card and it went smoothly. I also used my PC Optimum card. Sadly, getting points for my candy with a pre-loaded offer didn't happen. Luckily, reporting missing points is such a breeze with the app that I was credited for my missing points within the hour. It was after midnight! There is loads of parking in front of the supermarket. I got a fairly close spot. I like this store better than the one that is closest to my home. Selling coffee 24 years after its expiration date. Seriously? I have photos as proof. My wife thought $4 for 12 oz Jamaican Blue Mountain.....what a deal. When she told me, I thought that doesn't sound right....the label was so old the date was barely visible, but there it was..."Processed on Jan 14 1999". They shouldn't be selling this stuff, vacumn packed or not. Coffee does not get better with age, it is probably best before 6 months after processing. read more

I am not sure if other customers feels the same, but I have experienced this on several occasions and at different times that majority of the vegetables are stale and rotten at this particular store (its now called Rob's No Frills). Though this store is located close to my house but I am forced to go to Freshco or No-frills at Yonge and 16th for qualify and freshness of vegetable items. I hope and wish there should be some oversight and quality control over these stores by govt agencies or parent companies and stop this practice of selling rotten & fungus ladden vegetables which is also very harmful for human health. Come here for the meat! I love their meat department which runs by independent meat shop: Charlie's. A lot of special cut: cubed pork belly for stewing, chicken bones for making soup, chopped pig tails and more. And if you need anything, just need to ask! Just like other No Frills, prices are always competitive and has good sales! Lines crazily long on weekends, so I usually avoid coming here. read more

I like its convenient location. The grocery is alright. I have been their customers for a few years. I have not yet purchased any food that I need to return so far. The line up is reasonable and the store is clean. Price is also reasonable. I give 4 stars because I found bite marks on their bread. I have attached photos. It looks like those are rat bites. This grocery store was very close to where I was staying in Markham, so it was very convenient for us to shop here. It has a big parking lot and all the times that I have been here, it hasn't been too busy, so you can get in and out of this store pretty fast. It reminded me of a Food for Less store with reasonably priced produce and meats. What I like about this store is the wide selection of Chinese products and vegetables such as yu choy, choy sum and fresh noodles and they even have chicken bones and wing tips for sale. The inside is bright and the isle are pretty wide so shopping in here is pleasant. read more

I didn't even realize that this No Frills switched owners from John to Ruth and Richard until writing this review! This is the closest supermarket from my house so it's pretty convenient for us to walk over. No Frills always have very cheap prices and pretty fresh. This No Frills has a wide selection on Asian products such as Chinese vegetables, Chinese bakery, live seafood, meat, and other dry foods. They used to have Chinese bbq many years ago but have closed down due to strict inspections. Back in the day when John was the owner, everything was very well stocked and you would even see John helping out in the store. Recently, we've noticed that a lot of items are out of stock, they no longer accept print out manufacturer coupons, and only price match with certain competitors. read more

This no frills is okay. They have a lot of variety; the fruits section is huge! They're always in stock of many things and the prices are also great! They price match so that's awesome. The stock workers are fast and knowledgeable on where everything is as opposed to many other stores. I used to work at one when I was 15 and I remember none of us knowing jack shit. I guess they improved the training. They don't accept visa so don't pay with that! Some of the cashiers are hella rude though. I was in the express line and this lady went to pick up something, and as the cashier waited for her to come back, the supervisor (?) (caucasian short female with curly brown hair) for that night reprimanded her in a rude way in front of the entire line giving her attitude when she scolded her to suspend the transaction. Then the cashier asked timidly "what do I do when she comes back?" and the supervisor rolled her eyes and said rudely "call me back". Not only is it unprofessional to behave like that in front of customers, it is unacceptable to behave like that to anyone. Learn manners. This is one of the closer No Frills to me. Under same corporation as Loblaws but lower grade in food and service. Apparently they won an award for customer service in Markham which i somehow can't agree on. Yes they price match but it really depends on what THEY view as a major competitor. I know all the fine prints are on the flyer but who reads all that anyways?? This place DOES NOT price match FOODY MART. I repeat they don't price match Foody Mart they claim it's not a major competitor. Foody Mart has more than 1 location and tons of people shop there? when something is on sale and you try to buy in bulk like stuff that don't expire soon. They give you a dirty look. NEW UPDATE: When I price matched an item, apparently I'm only allowed to buy Max. 4 and not more than that...5th item requires you to pay regular price. This No Frills is a special one in that it is located at the intersection of Highway 7 and Warden. From the outside it looks like any other No Frills. But go inside and you will find a rather good selection of Chinese grocery options. It will not compete with the TT supermarket. If you happen to be shopping for your western groceries, this place adds in a nice selection of Chinese options. They have a built in Chinese bakery section as well as meats for your hot pot and veggies. Good seafood and vegetable section as well. Place is nice and big with plenty of parking. Bakery discounts their goods if you go at end of day. Check this place out. read more

I definitely won't call this place a "standard" No Frills. There's some features in this particular store that most stores don't have. For example, there is a BBQ, bakery, and seafood counter, as well as a dollar (or more) store counter! This No Frills is also one of the larger ones in the city, but also busier (usually filled with students during lunch times). I haven't had a bad experience in this store yet, though I will admit service isn't as great as my home No Frills (Summerhill's). I usually come by here if I'm nearby and want to do some typical No Frills shopping in addition to shop for some everyday appliances in the dollar store section. I don't bother much with the BBQ, bakery, or seafood sections, but that's only because I can get those at T&T anyway. read more

I have shopped here countless times. It is clean and well organized. The pharmacy section is well stocked. I like that it has high turnover of everything, so produce, dairy and meat are fresh all the time. I like that I can buy live seafood here. In addition, you can pay for the cakes from the Chinese bakery at the regular cashier, meaning you can pay by credit card and earn reward points. The Asian package groceries, from soy sauce to rice to junk food, however, are more expensive than Chinese grocery stores. Furthermore, this No Frills does not price match Chinese grocery stores. 3.5 stars. read more

Used to go to high school across the street, so I know this No Frills well. Yet... I never really went in it, and still don't to this day. If you see me inside, its on that rare occasion! A pretty large grocery store, with pretty much all your standard supplies. The dollar store feature in the middle does comes in handy from time to time though. I usually come pick up party supplies, so the dollar store and chips aisle are where I frequent the most. My mom likes coming here to stock up on frozen dinners whenever they go on sale ($0.98), but they always sell out really fast! The most inconvenient thing is that they have like 20 checkout lanes, but only ever have 5 of them open. Even when there's a huge line of people waiting, the number of checkout lanes remains the same. Would be nice if the owner hired more cashiers to work! read more

I usually really like shopping at this store and have respected their COVID protocols. However, today was very disappointed. Most people were observing 6 feet apart and numerous times while shopping we were reminded to do so. However, at the cash and packing my groceries, this protocol was not observed. I had people on both sides of me packing groceries at the same time as me, I was very concerned, especially being a senior, that this was happening and mentioned it both to the cashier and the young man at the door. This store is also where I get my supply of green bananas which the workers are always helpful to check in the stock room if I don't see it out front. refused to price match wal-mart in richmond hill (8km). Said that it is not in their 'geographic area' BUT they WILL price match the food basics (10km) and freshco (8 km away) which are in richmond hill. the owner (richard) said that is because he doesn't want to take business away from Enzo's no frills in richmond hill . He literally told me to go to Enzo's and price match the items there. he said that he would only price match the wal-mart that is in markville mall and no others ( I had a local newspaper advertising specials at the richmond hill wal-mart) this is some BS right there. while their posted price match policy allows for them to basically refuse any price match that they decide to, this is not a very good way to treat customers. I used to come to this no frills at least once a week - but I'll take Richard's suggestion and take my business to Enzo's no frills - or maybe I'll just go to wal-mart. i know many of you are probably shaking your head at my cheapness - but I'd suggest you never try to price match at this store - just go somewhere else. out of the 9 items from the no frills flyer that I wanted to get only 5 of them were in stock (and this flyer started the day that I went to the store - January 2nd) . this confirms some of the othe reviews' claims that this store is stocked infrequently. read more

The worst customers service experience ever had, found out Walmart selling cheaper price right after made purchase, they won't do any refund nor price match, tried to talk to the manager, a so call owner came with a really bad attitude and said that's too bad, he won't do anything to it and just walked away right after, refund or not is one thing, his attitude very rude and impatient that make the case worst, never ever going back to this location. I am so impressed with your store staff members. On March 6, 2019, about 17:00, I came into your store feeling very tired. My daughter was sick, so I was coming into shop for her, and myself. I felt overwhelmed at what I was needing to do. I thought I'll do her shopping first, then mine. So, back and forth from one end of the store, to the other end and finally finished hers. Then mine, it took longer than I expected. It was 18:38 when I cashed out. The cashier(beautiful blue long hair) I spoke with and she was very helpful and polite with me. But as I was putting my groceries into my bags, I started to feel like I was going to faint. Someone said, "are you okay?" Your cashier came over to me, and asked if she could help! I said, 'i think i'm going to faint'. She sat me down and said, 'I'll get you some water, in seconds she was back. I drank some of the water and yet I still felt faint. She asked 'for a helper to take my grocery cart out to my car, when I was ready to get up, but not until'. She was so kind and compassionate, and helpful, and still cashing out her other people, she came over to see how I was doing. It took me about 30 minutes, to feel like I could leave. A staff man, came and said, you need water (my bottle was empty) so he went and got me more water. He said , 'do you want a chocolate bar, I'll get you one.' I said, no,no, its okay, I just want to get into my car to rest'. Your cashier still keeping an eye on me, 'Are you okay to go out, don't leave until you are sure you can walk to your car and don't drive away, just wait abit until you are sure you are okay.' I thanked her so much. She really was so good to me, and still cashed out other clients. I don't know how she did it. Then the man left and 2 young men came with yellow stripes on their coats-I said are you guys paramedics? They said, 'no we are here to help you to your car and make sure you are okay.' So sweet. One took my cart and one beside me as I was walking to my car. And the one beside me, stayed beside me in case I fell, and the other young man put all my groceries in the back of my car, and even put my daughters in the side of my HHR Red. They were all so kind and polite, and courteous, and caring. I want you as owners of No Frills, I come to your store all the time. And I have never had a problem there, and only good staff work at your store. My cashier was absolutely wonderful to me, she was outstanding in every way, the man who got me more water and asked me if I wanted a chocolate bar and more water, outstanding, and the young men who took me and my groceries to my cart - also outstanding. I hope you know how proud I am to have receive such Royal Treatment from your 4 special staff that night. Out in my car I still waited 30 mins. before I left, and I felt like one of those 4 staff members were watching out for me. I want to thank you for having outstanding staff, that helped me so very much that night. I cried happy tears, to think how wonderful they all were to me. So please, Richard and Ruth once again thank you for hiring these exceptional staff members that helped me that night. A disaster pure and simple!! I have never seen such empty shelves in my life!! Today I wanted to buy the fresh figs they had advertised and I could not believe my eyes!! The tiny, shriveled, mouldy figs on the box did not look anything like the ones advertised. When I asked the grocery clerk to get new ones, they were a bit fresher bit just as tiny and ugly!!! I was just there shopping. I always bag my stuff while the cashier tallies it. Another cashier accused me of having food in my bag intimating that I had stolen it. I explained that I bag food while it is being tallied and I told her to check with my cashier to make sure that it so. I never got an apology from her or from the manager John when i told him about this. He just said it was Remembrance Day and we should all be happy. John's No Frills is the best in customer service. I shop here regularly. Well stocked, organized and very clean. The Cashiers are friendly and are always willing to make customers happy. The parking is huge so it is very convenient to park which makes shopping a pleasure. The Management is also very good. read more

I shop at this no frill's location at least twice a week. As yourself, i've spent hundreds of dollars buying groceries. Although this location is closer and more convenient to shop at, i am seriously considering to take my business to the no frills on markham road. The buggy return out in the parking lot with the yellow roof top is set up so that you cannot return your cart there, therefore you have to return the cart to the entrance of the store. The owner, john, it seems is too cheap to hire and pay someone to retrieve the carts from out in the parking lot. I feel after all the money i spend at his store each week, he could at least provide this little service to his customers. Trudging through the snow to return your cart to the front of the store was brutal. Yes, having to buy groceries each week is a given, but shopping at john's no frills.....well i'm done.
