I started shopping at this location of No Frills on an occasional basis early in 2019 but following the onset of the Pandemic in March 2020 I began coming more frequently; usually once a week but sometimes I'll skip a week. No Frills appears much cleaner, brighter and thereby more welcoming compared to it's previous appearance, which is going back many years. The large store features a wide variety of food and other products on offer and I can't complain about the prices, and even less so about the frequent sales on quite a few items that I buy on a regular basis. I'm quite impressed by No Frills' efforts at maintaining a safe environment in which to shop in light of COVID: a quoue to enter due to a max. no. of Customers allowed inside at one time, directional stickers on the floor, plexiglass at the checkout counters and of course hand sanitizers at the main entrance/exit and mask requirements for Staff and Customers. I fully intend to continue shopping at this location on a regular basis. read more

FRESH BEEF GONE BAD IN ONE NIGHT. I bought some ground beef from this location on Monday hoping to cook it for dinner Tuesday night, which is tonight. I was even happy to see an employee currently stacking some "fresh" packages on to the shelves. It looked pretty fresh to me so I grabbed one. I literally live about 3 mins walk from this place and the put it straight inside my fridge as directed on the package itself. The best before date was Thursday. This morning I opened the fridge to an awful stench and noticed that the ground beef has gone bad. It turned grey in color and smelled like a$$. I recently viewed a CBC marketplace documentary on how these grocery stores mix older past expiry date beef with some newer beef and soak it in blood to make it seem fresh. Could this be the case here? Note: We frequent this location often but never had a problem prior to this incident. Hopefully it is just a one off. Just want to let any unsuspecting consumers know to be careful next time they purchase meat from this location. Also, if the owners aren't aware of this to give them a heads up! read more

There's no real reason for taking a star away as such. I just can't give 5 stars for a discount grocery store. They never wow me. Let's say 4.5! This No Frills seems to be pretty new. Everything is bright and shiny and sparkling. The fruit and veg section is pretty large and everything looked appealing and fresh on both occasions I've been in over the past week. Prices were also good. There is a little fresh bread section with bagels etc to take individually but no huge diet-ruining bakery. There is a pharmacy though. Handy! Great bargains on a wide range of grocery items-everything from dairy to tinned goods to the Woolite that was $3 cheaper than at Shopper's Drug Mart. The President's Choice items didn't seem to be priced much differently to Loblaws or Bloorstreet Market but overall my bags of groceries were much cheaper than usual. Aisles are wide and it seemed pretty calm in there on a weekday. It will probably get busier as more people find it-there's a good catchment area and I'm sure people living in the area will be more than happy not to pay the crazy prices Metro seem to think they can charge. ($3.59 for a litre of milk. Seriously?!?). Checkout was quick and pleasant. It seems counterintuitive that the discount arm of the Loblaws family of stores has better service than the supposedly high-end Loblaws and Bloorstreet Market, but that was my experience this week. The girl didn't recognise my parsnip and thought it was bok choi...but at least she was pleasant! Definitely going back-even if it means having to get one of those old woman shopping trollies to bring everything home. It's worth it! read more

I was there at 11am on a Monday. Only one cashier open with a long line and I have a young baby. Not impressive. I was using organic cloth vegetable/fruit bags instead of plastic. I told the cashier that the tare weight was on the side of the bag so that she could deduct it. She ignored me and charge me for the bag. I asked her three times to re-do it and she said "you shouldnt have put it in this bag then". She then flipped the bag dramatically so all the fruit fell on the scanner, rang it in and then rolled it on the conveyor belt and threw the bag on top. Didnt even put it in. Management should teach their staff how to deduct the weight off the bags as people want to be green and not hurt the environment but I dont want to pay $.15 cents more for every bag I use because of the weight! I wrote a complaint to head office and heard nothing. What a joke never going here again. read more

$0.56/lb for bananas. That's what I think of when I think of No Frills. I've been a regular at this store for a few years. They usually run out of stock on fresh produce, so I stop by here almost everyday after work (low-key, I also love grocery shopping). This store feels smaller than other No Frills, the checkout lines are jammed packed during the afternoon rush. I really recommend going at any other time, especially if you are driving because their parking lot is tiny - it fits maybe 10 cars. The boxed salads are usually sold out. They always have bread on 50% clearance. The meat can be questionable, I rarely buy it here. I've seen yellow slimy chicken and white/brown watery ground beef. 5/5 for Customer service. The grocery clerks are always restocking and always go check/grab what you need if you ask them. There are a couple of really friendly cashiers as well. No Frills is great! The shelves and freezers are always stocked, the fruits and veggies are usually quite fresh, and everything is well-priced. When they have sales, I tend to buy more than I should (but it sure makes sense at the time)! Why go to another grocery store if you can fill your pantry and get fresh items here? I think you can easily save at least 25% off your grocery bill (if not more) when comparing to places like Sobeys, Loblaws, or Metro. I will admit, I don't normally pick up meats because they don't have our preferred cuts. Sometimes we will get the ground beef though. I don't really like the parking situation since the underground lot isn't always accessible. If you can come at an off-peak time, you should be able to snag a spot above ground. read more

This place provides what was kind of missing in the neighborhood a reasonably priced and clean grocery store. Since this place is somewhat new it is very clean with bright aisles and and neatly stocked items. I hope they keep it this way as other No Frills are usually not very inviting. Everything is not perfect though the produce section is relatively small and one doesn't have much choice there the staff though helpful is not well versed in pointing out the exact location of the item you want. Some of the items advertised in the fliers are not even carried by this location. Other thing to point out it unless you have a Master Card you have to pay by interac/bank card or cash. All in all a good addition to grocery stores in this area as this completes the buying requirement s at all price points in downtown. read more

I have bought my groceries from Luciano's No Frills every week for three years, spending ~$120 each time. Today I bought my groceries, put them in the car and proceeded to walk to another store two doors down. I was stopped by a parking officer hired by No Frills who threatened me with a $70 fine for leaving my car in their lot. I explained that I had just spent $120 and that I only needed one item from the dollar store that No Frills did not carry. He laughed and said too bad. I had to move my car out onto the street for $0.45 street parking in order to make my next purchase. Ironically I gave my change to a charity posted inside No Frills so had no money for the meter. I chanced it and came out to a $30 ticket. Thanks No Frills. After three years of shopping with you, today will be my last. read more

I try to visit Lucianos once a week. The parking is getting difficult because of the new Condo being built on the corner and the LCBO store parking is getting torn up. I spoke to a parking enforcer as he was writing plate numbers down that too many people are parking there overnight. The store is relatively the same over the last ten years. Very difficult to get a cart through as employees block paths.. unloading veg and groceries. Tony is a good guy and very friendly and knows what fruits and veg are fresh. Meats are hit and miss, always check the due date as well as bread /dairy due dates. My only complaint this year is I was charged almost $7.00 for 6 small beets. I know the cashier put in the wrong code. Maybe because I declined to donate to their charity. It is not easy for me to get back so I guess next week. I believe that this place will close this year and the LCB0 store. G00D. If you have a new condo, who wants a no-frills or LCBO (where men BEG for money outside? Most cashiers are unfriendly and never smile. Most customers are unfriendly as well and if you say excuse me they look at you as from another planet. Returning items one gets the third degree. This brand new No Frills, does not give you the dirty dungy yellow feel that you get from most other locations. In fact it's the complete opposite! Bright lights, high ceilings and neatly stocked merchandise makes a huge difference and goes a long way. Yesterday I spent 1.5 hours here grocery shopping for a cottage trip. I came out with 2 carts full of stuffs, I felt like I was on Extreme Couponing but lacking the coupons. Parking is free for 90 mins. All you do is go up to the machine,1) press the blue button 2) press the green button - no need to stick any change or card in the machine. The produce section was well maintained, and I'm always impressed by the guys that constantly go and inspect items as they re-stock and check for moldies and remove them. They were pretty friendly about it when I passed them a moldy box of strawberries. It's not their fault, it does come like that in the batch. Corn today was 10 for $5. Apples for 0.69/lb. Potatos $4/10lbs. Box of blueberries $3.99 (why are they always so $$). Box of strawberries $2.99. Usually the produce here is fresh. And for more pre packaged items, there are price checked weekly. A bulk section follows, but mainly only nuts and candies. Then the Bakery Section. Unfortunately No Frills doesn't really carry non-pre packed bread, and there were only two loaves of baked bread - and no one there to slice it. If it wasn't for this cottage trip, I would have gone elsewhere to buy. There was no Spelt bread. The meat section lines the back wall. Chicken was all sold out at $1.30something / lb. Burger patties at 30% off was the same price as the frozen ones at the back but with less preservatives. I also discovered that the Sausages in the meat section have all natural ingredients including a Hog Casing, than the ones in the bacon and cold cuts section. The aisles were clearly marked, with price checks almost everywhere. Lots of things to buy, wide aisles made for easy maneuverering of all my stuff. They had a lot more selection than I would have expected for a No Frills, including lots of Gluten Free products you only see in Big Carrot or something. Even my Hemp granola bars were cheaper here by 50c than in Bulk Barn. Classico tomato sauce was $2 on sale. And I love seeing prices that are only 2 digits with a decimal place to the left. Milk, and eggs are along the far East wall. And Ice Cream near the front. There is also a pharmacy section with shampoos and bandaids and things, just like a Loblaws. I swear you'd like you were in one. You forget you are in a No Frills and really pleased with the prices of everything. That is until you get to the cash. Cash lady wasn't cheery at all, and kind of needed a pick me up after shopping til 9pm. We held up a bunch of people with all our stuff, but it's not my fault that they only had 3 registers and no one opening another till. I guess no one buys this much stuff because the conveyor was small and narrow, and she didn't bat and eye or gave a crap that she squished all my chips. You still bag everything yourself, but with this much stuff and use of lots of boxes and what not, we needed to do it ourselves. I don't want to say I'm a snob...but I usually tend to avoid No Frills like the plague. I was just getting so fed up with the prices at the Sobey's across the street that one day I defiantly wheeled my lil granny cart over to the No Frills instead. Boy am I glad I did! This store has more selection, better prices, and fresher produce than the Sobey's does. It also doesn't have the grimy shopping-out-of-a-sewer-grate feel of most No Frills stores. It's clean and well run. The line ups are also usually very manageable as they tend to have lots of cashiers working at any given hour. read more

I am not a fan of No Frills in general, but this is the one exception to the rule. the store is always clean, which is not true for most No Frills franchises. i like a clean grocery store. i'm always grossed out if a grocery store is unkempt (i'm looking at you, Food Basics!) the produce is fresh, and i've never had an issue with any fruits or vegetables i bought from this No Frills. the meat selection is fine for everyday cooking. in general, they stock a much wider selection of products on the shelves than most other No Frills locations. one complaint would be that not many things go on sale at this location. the prices are fair enough on a daily basis, but it would be nice to see more weekly specials. other than that, it's my go-to grocery store. p.s.: avoid the Sobey's across the road at all costs (literally and figuratively!) read more

This No Frills is okay for your typical day to day grocery shopping needs. The store is reasonably clean and organized and the cashiers are quick and efficient. I never had to wait long in line to check out during any of my visits at this particular grocery store and shopping carts + baskets are always readily available although they still require a 25 cent deposit for a cart. The store is pretty big without too much congestion in the aisles and it is also very easy to navigate throughout the store. The produce is decent at best. They don't always carry the best quality of produce as it isn't as fresh as the produce you can find at other nearby grocery store shelves but you can still find some okay fruits and veggies during your trip. Just don't expect high quality freshness all the time. It's really hit or miss for the most part. Prices are always excellent at No Frills and I've never had any issues of essential items running low on stock. These guys seem pretty good and consistently on the ball with their inventory so I can always rely on this store for my everyday grocery items. read more

Being a new store, it feels cleaner and brighter than other No Frills stores, but the parking lot here can be chaotic, and even though the lot is supposed to be for customers only, I have seen many people park here and not go into the store. There is more parking downstairs, but if the elevator isn't working, how the heck can I load the bins into the car? There always seems to be long lineups here with very few cashiers, so based on that and the parking situation, if I need to go to No Frills, I usually go to the one on Carlaw with more parking and more cashiers. Prices at No Frills are usually less than Loblaws, but if the item is on sale at Loblaws all bets are off. read more

3.5 Stars No Frills locations are not always the best - they can be dirty and packed full of people. This location is fairly good - it's usually pretty clean and not overly busy. Even when it is busy, you can still get around no problem. The Good: 1. Prices. You cannot beat prices at No Frills. You are getting the same thing for half the price a lot of the time. 2. Spacious. This location is quite big and has lots of room to move about. 3. Selection. I've never had a problem getting what I came for here. The Bad: 1. Location. Your everyday decent grocery store which is really a close by for easier convenience. For some reason it reminds me of a convenience store than a grocery store. I wouldn't say the greatest it could be neatly tidied up; the cashiers there can be friendly - a hit or miss depending whom you get. I have to agree with the previous reviewer better make sure to check you milk or yogurt expiration date. No frills is notorious for not checking their products! Their pharmacy there is very conveniently located inside the grocery store; very friendly and knowledgable staff unlike your usually rude pharmacist at expensive Shoppers Drug Mart. The dispensing fee is not too bad either. I can't complain the service is above average and I would trust No Frills any day over Rabba. read more

Wow, the prices you expect from a No Frills, but also clean, spacious, well-staffed, well laid-out. With food preferences being so individual, one can always find something to complain about at a grocery store ("But they don't have....") but overall the selection is great, with some items you wouldn't expect to find at a No Frills. This No Frills lost my business today, as on a Monday afternoon at 3 p.m., I wasn't going to wait for one of the few surface parking spaces. The sign for underground parking says that it's monthly parking only, 6 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. On a prior evening when I stopped by (and surface parking spots weren't an issue), I actually liked the store. It's larger than my usual No Frills, and seems to have inventory when other branches get stocked out. So, this store will only be a place for car-load shopping after dinner. For daytime shopping, we'll have to stay with our regular No Frills branch (about the same distance the other direction) at Carlaw north of Gerrard. read more

VIBE This hidden location is a hidden gem! Honestly, it's the nicest "No Frills" I've seen and at half the cost of items at Sobey's across the street. It's light, bright and everything is clearly marked. The cashiers could use a lesson in "customer service." When did it become customary to rush customers and make them pack their own bags? (This is not just at No Frills.) THE GOODS The prices here are decent except for meat. You may as well go to St. Lawrence Market for that. I also wouldn't buy my bread here. I also like getting my veggies from the SLM. But if you want the basics, this is the place. As stated in previous Yelp reviews, there are no deli or bakery sections. But . Specials of the week I saw: 4 San Pellegrino or Perrier for $5; milk for under $5 (the three bag kind); big ass halloween candy boxes for around $8. 2 L pop for $1.25. I remember when carts did not require any money and they had guards to stop people stealing them or bringing them out of the parking lot. I haven't been to this location for a while now, so I'm hoping that today's lackluster experience was a one-off and not the new standard. I came here on a Sunday at around 5pm and although the place was full of people, it was rather lacking in groceries. The meat and produce selection left much to be desired -- they were out of 1/3 of the stuff I came to buy (nothing crazy: pork tenderloin, zucchinis, garlic, peppers), which was frustrating. I almost had to fight someone over the last bag of onions. That being said, they had some good sales and checkout was extremely quick and efficient. Honestly, excluding today's experience, this is actually one of my favourite downtown grocery stores. It's large, well-organized, bright, clean, and usually has great prices/sales. I posted a review about this particular No Frills store on Front St. E. before, but for some reason, it never appeared online. I really don't understand why this store has so many negative reviews - I really like this store. The store is bright, clean with spacious isles and the lady (evening) manager is always so accommodating whenever I go to her for anything. The produce section is well-stocked and there is a middle-aged gentleman who works this counter and you can tell he really takes pride in making sure everything looks neat and attractively arranged. There is a Loblaws and Metro store in the same area and their prices are so much higher! Shoppers Drug Mart's prices are prohibitively more expensive. Even the PC products are less expensive at No Frills than they are at Loblaws. The cashiers are always always polite and friendly. The young people who stock shelves are often too busy talking to one another but if you interrupt them to ask a question, they spring into action to help you. I don't eat meat so I can't comment on that section of the store. There is a small section in the store where they sell glasses, pans, towels etc. and if you wait a little while, the items are always reduced quite substantially in price. I have saved a lot of money waiting a couple of weeks. I am really happy to have this store in my neighbourhood; I don't feel so gouged of my money when I shop here as I do with the other grocery stores in the neighbourhood. Try it - I don't think you will be disappointed unless you are someone who has an attitude about discount stores. read more

My experience with this No Frills has been very poor. I do not have much positive insight for this place and this place sadly deserves a no Star.. where is the quality?? The employee's seems to have little to no training, there is lack of teamwork and support among the cashiers. The employees working the aisles are completely oblivious.. This place could be so much more it's in a great neighborhood. I agree with others from this review .. Must check expiry date!! A lot of canned goods i.e taco beans, tuna are often busted I find myself looking at the back to find one that is not. The meats are often discolored. Also the juice boxes are busted found myself arriving home with a few juice boxes leaking sadly did not notice until I got home. The bread selection is poor. Loblaws, yes it's pricey but at least you have employee that take pride in stacking those fruits and veggies, the can goods are not all busted. I've had 3 experiences where the milk spoiled before it was done less than 5 days. read more

I am a big No Frills fan. When it comes to food, just keep it simple. I come here for groceries all the time. They have great offering and fresh vegetables. Food does not have to be fussy or expensive and I like that my grocery bill does not explode past my expectations and I do not get suckered to expensive food displays. Simple and fresh. I was a bigger fan when customers still had access to the underground parking garage. Apparently Coke and the condo building have taken them over? The parking spaces out front always seem to be full and street parking is hit and miss. Aside from that, I'm liking their prices, though like most places these days, you have to be constantly vigilant that you aren't being overcharged for something. I had an argument with a staff person just last week as I was overcharged for something and them telling me that the product shouldn't have been there in the first place. So we can overcharge you because the sign was mislabeled. Staff in general seem to be on a decline in customer service "skills", and don't seem to care that only 3 registers out of 10 or more are open when customers are lined up down the aisles. Easily the cleanest No Frills in the entire chain. This is nothing like the No Frills on Parliament or the (now closed) Sherbourne locations. It is also about twice the size of those locations, and the plaza has an LCBO and Dollarama. The prices are what you expect at No Frills; when this store opened, it definitely made a huge dent in Sobeys' (across the street) business. But there are certain things you can't buy at No Frills, so I split my shopping between the two. The store still needs to improve at keeping flyer items in stock, and checking expiry dates - but it has gotten much better over the last year. Most of the cashiers here are really great; friendlier and more helpful than nearby FreshCo. But I rarely use coupons, so I can't comment on that. I use the pharmacy and am a big fan. Low dispensing fee; very fast service; and the pharmacists here are much nicer and helpful than those at Shoppers. read more

I love this store. First of all the location. As someone who relies on public transit I love having this across the street so I can carry all my heavy things home without cutting off circulation to my hands and arms. There's a Rabba and a Sobey's on the same block, but No Frills is my preferred choice. They always have everything that I need at more than reasonable prices. The store is always clean and pleasant to walk through. I think my average purchase is about $40, which is a lot considering I go there every other day to pick up one or two things. I always end up wandering through the whole store and getting suckered into the deals. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm hoping the boss reads these reviews because I'd like to give a special shout out to one of the cashiers. He's a young guy and usually works the express lane when I see him there. He is beyond friendly and is able to get a smile and a conversation out of the grumpiest looking customer while keeping his checkout moving fast and efficiently. I came home from there today and mentioned to my boyfriend how the cashier really made an impression on me and he knew right away who I was talking about.
