Such a great grocery store with many selection. We end up stocking up on snacks to take back home such as ketchup chips, Kuerig maple coffee, and maple cookies. We also stop by daily for water, drinks, fresh baked goods and deli. The bakery section is huge with all kinds of cookies, croissants, and bread. The deli has fresh cut meat, cheese, pizzas, sandwiches. From reading the Yelp reviews now, wish I knew there was a second floor!

Sometimes living downtown you take for granted a fabulous grocery store in the historic Maple Leaf Gardens. I shop here all the time, and like to take my time in the store while I'm here. Often, I'll sit in their seating areas after shopping eating what I just bought. It's a very inviting space. In fact, once or twice in university my friends and I worked from here (when they had seating upstairs.) Loblaws is upstairs for two in one shopping. Parking is free if you purchase a certain amount. Another bonus is that despite their large self checkout station, they usually have a few cashiers to check you out if you have cash. Avoid shopping around dinner time and especially on holidays (ie Thanksgiving). Lines will be incredibly long.

This is their flagship store. It is huge! There is a wall of cheese, a Nutella bar, prepared foods to eat in their seating area, free WiFi, and courses taught on their second floor. There is also a Joe Fresh store on the second floor. Once a week, they have food promotion stations. In the seating area, they also hold special occasion promotions like the Dec holiday season. The make colourful cakes based on special events. They were one of the first to implement self-checkout stations a few years ago. There is a huge parking lot in the basement with validated parking if you spend $20 or more. They also have online grocery shopping with self-pickup near the parking lot. During the 2020 pandemic, the store hours are reduced with the first hour dedicated to seniors or those with disabilities. The parking lot is free to avoid having to deal with parking slips. Face masks are mandatory based on Toronto's health restrictions. All shopping carts are cleaned before putting them back for customers. There are hand sanitizers at the one entrance (the second entrance has been closed off). Interestingly there are 2 police officers at the entrance. Aisles are marked one-way (although many people don't follow the arrows). Lineups for the cashiers and self-checkout have 2-metre markings on the floor. Every other self-checkout station is disabled to encourage social distancing. Plastic bags are free.

    Salad bar at Loblaws

I experienced the food sections of this urban supermarket. I'm sure there's more but what I did see was amazing. So many prepared and ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat and a produce section that was amazing. Fresh made sushi, sandwiches to order, fresh salad bar, and the bakery was insane. After my nearby breakfast, and knowing that I would be working from the hotel room for the next several hours, I stopped in here and picked up some sparkling water and a few nibbles for lunch. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the USD/CAD exchange rate. Very nice lady working the self-checkout who helped me with my US credit card issues. I enjoyed my shop at Loblaws! Nice grocery store with a great selection of food. The deli has pizza, soups, salad, and fresh juices. The bakery has delicious egg tarts and cookies. I like it here.

Amazing is understatement to describe this Loblaws branch. It's so big, so well laid out with so many quality selections to choose from. Here you can find the more premium and epicurean offerings in the cheese, meat and cold cut department. Even the bread aisle is twice as big of the usual Loblaws. There's an attached parking to the shop. To access it, once you enter via the Carlton entrance, turn left, walk past the cooked foos section and take the escalator on the left down to the basement.

Is no hockey arena... although MATTAMY next door is great.. the old Maple leaf gardens is a grocery store. It's big and modern and one of the best in city, but pricey....

Wow, this place is HUGE! We kept driving by a bunch of Loblaws, while in Toronto. Since we were walking around the area, we decided to finally drop by and check this location out. It's so spacious in here and everything is so clean and neatly displayed. Employees are friendly and helpful. Yes, its a grocery store but boy do they give you a lot of options. Every section of this grocery store is large and provides so much variety. Everything looked super fresh too. Take a look at some of my pics from Loblaws to get a better idea of what they have inside. Oh how I wish we had one of these close to where I live. Note to self: Don't come in here super hungry. Everything in here looked so good!

    Beef salad from cooking class

I took one of the cooking classes here. The classroom/kitchen is upstairs, next to LCBO. It was Thai cooking with Florene Kwok and it was $30 for a 2 hour class. Now, they call it a 'class' but it is more of a demonstration. I.e. you aren't actually doing any of the cooking hands on. Some of the stuff has already been chopped, meat has already been marinated (otherwise, it would be impossible to prepare 4 courses AND eat them in 2 hours!). I was part of a large group and they let participants vote on the menu. We ended up collectively deciding on: - Grilled beef salad - Thai spicy noodles - Coconut lime chicken - Coconut milk bread pudding a la mode It was a fun evening! The food tasted delicious, I picked up some useful cooking tips, and the dishes weren't too tricky. They gave us copies of the recipes, and I feel like I will be able to reproduce them at home. Of course, it's Loblaws, so they use a lot of President's Choice products that you can buy after class. Florence has a somewhat abrupt and no non-sense style, but I liked her and she was happy to answer questions or to give us a closer look at any of the ingredients (e.g. I didn't know how to cook with lemongrass). She made 2 batches of the noodles - mild and spicy. She also made separate dishes for the one vegetarian in our group. The seating area is big and you usually have a good view of the stove, but there are also TV screens. They provided water and pop. $30 for a lesson, a great dinner, and someone to do the dishes for you -- not a bad deal!

Cupcake Heaven! I just could not decide on which one as a snack...just one... orange chocolate? Winter Mint? Vanilla bubblegum? Chocolate Peanut? Oreo? Three of the friendly staffs voted for Red Velvet ($1.99)... so I ended up having one of those! (the cake itself is moist, frosting is light and not too sweet) Sweet from Dufflet, Artisan Bread from ACE and those Store Baked Maple Bacon Donuts looks good... Loose Leaf Tea from Tea Emporium.... Freshly made espresso drinks... Good Cheese and Deli Selections! And all these hot food choices: pizza, pasta, remind me of the food halls I been to! The dry goods section though are a little boring, just like one of those standard Loblaws... This location used to be Maple Leaf Gardens and I still remember I watch my first LIVE hockey game here: Leaf VS Red Wings... I am pleased that Loblaws able to preserve the facade and some of the artifacts and transferred that into a lovely space....a place full of memories.......

A colleague of mine lives up the street so he's the one who first told me about how amazing this place is. He and his husband apparently come here just to walk around on some nights. I finally decided to check out this place w my friend this afternoon. Wow. This place is the Mecca for Foodies based in Toronto. You want to see the real deal though? Go to a Japanese department's food emporium. Anywho, moving on... If you spend over $20, you get your parking pass validated. In case you don't know, the lot entrance is on Carlton, west of Church. The price point is no different from other Loblaw locations; however, you have a wider selection of food items plus an LCBO and a JOE Fresh. As Jennifer K mentioned, the cupcake area ... cupcakes are my kryptonite. I just stuffed my face w the red velvet cupcake infused w cream cheese icing. It was deeeeeelish. A solid four star here.

Maple Leaf Gardens was home to the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1931-1999. The Leafs won 11 Stanley Cups from 1932-1967 (alas, our last win was in 1967) while playing there. It also hosted the Beatles, The Who and Elvis Presley in concert, wrestling, boxing, basketball and more before laying dormant for about ten years. Loblaws bought the Gardens in 2004. They converted the arena into a Loblaws grocery store and Ryerson University built an athletic centre upstairs. The new Loblaws store opened on November 30. From blogTO ... The new Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens is, as one would expect, a pretty remarkable grocery store. Not only is it a huge retail space at 85,000 square feet, but its market-style features -- things like self-serve seafood, the grand wall of cheese, and loads of prepared food options -- are part of what the company calls its "theatre of food." Gord and I have been wanting to check it out so we walked there this afternoon. Happily they kept the integrity of the building. It is indeed huge! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the grill. The end of aisle 25 is where centre ice was ... they've marked it with a red circle. Love cheese? Then check out the wall of cheese! The dessert section looked amazing! I couldn't resist a chocolate chocolate cupcake. It was denser than I expected and the big blob of icing in the middle was a fun surprise. Love chocolate? Then check out the 1.5 foot chunk of chocolate! There are some nice reminders of what the Gardens used to be ... like a giant blue maple leaf made from the old seats from the blue section. Tables in the second level have descriptions of past events. You are reminded of the Maple Leafs as you get your cart. On the second level, there is a Joe Fresh, a liquor store and a cooking school. Looks like an awesome shopping experience! Gord and I are going to head there for groceries one day soon.
