This is a popular small Korean grocery store located in downtown Toronto. There is also a kitchen where they can prepare hot food for you to eat in or take out. It opened on 2018-11-11. We have purchased groceries and prepared foods many times over the years. This review is about the prepared food we ordered on 2025-10-31. We ordered a 4A Half & Half (large $25.98). It consists of original and Korean seasoned chicken, and a pop. Both versions of the chicken were tender inside and the coatings outside tasted good. The customer service was good. The store is quite small, feels cramped once you walk in. They carry a wide variety of Japanese snacks. Sometimes you can find things on sale and that's what I usually look for. At the front of the store you can order food to go but too bad they don't have the red bean fish shaped pastries. read more

Amazing!!!! So many products for an average size store. Hot fresh food made to order is amazing. Got a tofu bowl with noodles. You order at the counter and say all the toppings and sauces you want in your bowl. You can get everything or just a few choices. Everything I ordered was great! It takes me 30 mins to walk to this hmart but I decided to order from ubereats At 11am since I was hungry and working. It took 2 hrs for my food to arrive. I was worried that my KFC would be soggy! I could have picked it up and saved myself $$$. Did not expect it to take so long! Also I feel like the rice cake sauce was extremely watered down. It wasn't as thick, spicy or Flavourful as I remembered it. The "large" size was quite small too. The container was half full and was a restaurant price for quality that tasted worse than instant. Although my KFC was soggy, I as glad I tried the mala flavour. The sauce was better than I expected and had a good amount of spice. I was tempted to dispute my order, but felt bad and decided to write this review instead. Maybe it's Ubers fault. Precovid, I do love their Korean corn dogs when freshly made. Great one stop shop for Korean groceries and food. The location is fairly clean and carries prepared food, fresh produce, meat, frozen and dried foods, pantry and household items. They have pretty affordable food options here too. I picked up a tteokbokki/gyoza/seaweed roll combo but unfortunately they gave me spring rolls instead of the seaweed roll. Taste was not bad, especially for the price. Tteokbokki was probably as spicy as sriracha for reference. read more

A good place for a quick & inexpensive lunch. Ordered gimbop, fish cake soup & gingerale combo for $6.98 plus tax. They have standing eating area. Very decent portion size. Not the greatest but pretty fresh. Only thing was my soup was lukewarm and microwave they had for customers to heat up food was out of service. 5 out of 5 stars Watching so many Korean fried chicken videos on YouTube, I had a craving for some as well. My cousin who is a connoisseur of "KFC" told me about H-mart and he highly recommends it. I ordered 3 flavors from their cook station...original, sweet/spicy and soya sauce with green onions. They were not over battered and well seasoned.. The pieces were like chicken nuggets/tenders. If you prefer bone pieces like leg and thigh, it's available upon request. Also in the market, I bought their beef jap chae and spicy pork with rice. I had never heard of H Mart before and all of a sudden there are 2 H Marts on Yonge St within a few blocks of each other?!? So apparently they are an American chain and they didn't hit the Canadian market until 2003 and the first store in Toronto opened in 2013. So way after I left Toronto. There are none in Ottawa (yet??). So it's an Asian Supermarket with mostly Korean items. It's a bit similar to Galleria Supermarket. They have pre-packaged prepared foods as well as a counter where they will make food for you on order. I got a pack of Hello Kitty gummies for my little niece. They were on sale for just $0.99 and imported from Japan, what a deal! Hope they open up an H Mart in Ottawa! read more

I have been a fan of this chain from the early days when ethnic food stores were relegated to the suburbs or certain pockets of the city. This chain of stores met the demand across the city till the bigger version of ethnic grocery stores started to emerge and finally some of these smaller stores started to dot the downtown area. I unfortunately don't venture out to the bigger stores much anymore so in some cases just visit these stores once in a while. This H mart is convenient and has a reasonable selection of items. What took me by surprise were their cooked items. I tried their really spicy boneless fried chicken and boy does it hit the spot. I had it delivered a few times afterward the first try and it came pipping hot. Good stuff folks as it packs a wallop. Takoyaki is serviceable. read more

Nearest asian mart i could get from my home for my asian grocery. Staff were friendly and helpful. Constantly having interesting things like durian icecream, boba milk tea in cans, milk tea ice cream bars... I miss coming to this place from time to time for these interesting products. ;) The only thing I can complain is their kimchi didnt re-stock fast enough. It's definitely a plus that there's an Hmart near the Eaton Center, but at the same time, this place isn't the best Korean grocery store nor is it the best Hmart. They have all the essentials, but compared to the Galleria, everything is overpriced. They do have a mini kitchen where you can order freshly made Korean snacks (bunsik), but the taste wasn't the best. :/ If you need Korean snacks or basic ingredients, this is a convenient go-to, but if you're looking for better, fresher deals, best go to the Galleria or PAT. read more

Tried the Original Korean Corn Dog here and it was sooo good! The outside batter was delicious and they had ketchup, mustard and mayo on the side for you to drizzle on top. The corn dog was only $4.50, which is really cheap - I've seen vendors selling the same thing at Asian Night Markets for $10 I also really liked the fish cakes with soup, it was about $2.50 Edit : Came back for their fried chicken and this is the best fried chicken I've ever had!! (Better than Popeyes) I ordered the Crispy Half & Half Boneless Fried Chicken, half original and half covered in korean sweet & garlic-y sauce. The Korean friend chicken is very good but the girl at the food service area has the worst attitude. I asked her the flavours and she said to look at the board but it's not there. It's bad design. The wait is about 15 mins when it's not busy. You cannot order ahead. The original is only fried and the spicy one is pretty spicy so be warmed! read more

For the most part I had a great experience every time with H-Mart the cashier ladies were super nice one time there were boxes blocking the pop section, one of the employees climbed them to get me and my friend our coke, we all laughed about it so 5/5 service! Oh and also they play BTS Music 24/7 which is a bonus! The Food: I got their fried chicken twice it's so cheap like $12 for SO MUCH, It's enough for 2 people to share and is so crunchy and delicious. Hands down some of thr best Korean Fried Chicken and it's even better for thecheap price! Their Mayo Teriyaki Chicken Corn Bowl was great too! This review is not just about hmart fried chicken's version but also Korean fried chicken in general. ABSOLUTE TRASH. The best part of deep fried chicken or any deep fried food is the crispiness of the outside cover. But when you dump whole bunch of sauce on it, obviously it's soggy as hell. Did I say that the sauce is bad as well? Yes it is, we purposely ordered fire spicy sauce and keep finger crossed that it's not gonna be sweet and all we got is disappoinment. Not that spicy but hell yeah it's sweet, who knows how sweet the sweet and sour sauce is gonna be. Don't make me start on the rice cake and fish cake soup, just ordered cuz of how popular it is and got the same horrible experience. H-mart located in CENTRAL Toronto on Yonge right beside Ryerson University and pretty much next to the Eaton Centre - what more can you ask for?! With prices slightly on the higher side, I still think that coming in to purchase a lunch is cheaper than the average meal you would purchase in Downtown Toronto. For example, coming in for their gimbap was a little more than $7 for two large rolls including tax - something that you won't be able to get if you go for a sit down restaurant.  This H-Mart has a hot food section, some cold products such as ice-cream, baked bread, etc. It has a mini section of fresh produce, packaged goods in the back, a small snack section and a frozen foods selection - something that I thought was amazing for the transformation of such a tiny space! read more

Look out colonel - there's a new (Korean) kid on the block. (This review won't cover the grocery store side of the store - although I was very impressed by some GIGANTIC apples!) H Mart does Korean fried chicken wonderfully. I recently shared a large honey garlic/green onion box of fried chicken (~$20) and the two of us had plenty leftover. (We totally could have shared the small one.) Inside, there's a small counter facing the street where you can eat, but this isn't really a sit down place. The chicken is made it fresh (it only took 10 minutes) and it was totally worth the wait. They boxed it up in a cute little cardboard box with a handle and it came with a can of pop (that sat inside the box! Shoutout to whoever designed this box. Gold star.) The honey garlic sauce sank to the bottom but I actually appreciated the less saucy ones on top. They garnished it with a very generous portion of sliced green onions on top. It was hot and crunchy, and the chicken was juicy. Yum. read more

This is the smallest H Mart I've been to. It's located north of Eaton Centre and across the street from Ryerson University. There is a hot food section on the right when you walk in and a freezer on the left with a variety of ice cream, yum. Fried chicken, spicy rice cakes, hotteok and more are available from the hot food counter. A little further into the store there's hot, prepared food such as bowl of rice and egg or chicken leg for $6.99. And snacks galore on the shelves! read more

Top marks for this wonderful Korean grocery store/convenience store/lunch spot. I am obsessed with their oden soup ($2.50) which is basically fried fish cake in various forms skewered and served with broth. For a measly $6.99 you can get the oden soup, pop, and a full kimbap (Korean sushi). If you explore the shelves there are also countless Asian delights to be discovered including fish waffles filled with red bean, mochi, rice/seaweed triangle thingies, Japanese sweet potato, a HUGE selection of tofu and meat, fresh and affordable fruits (cheaper than metro), COCONUT MELONA ice cream bars, etc. I wish I lived in the area because I think I would go here at least once a week (if not twice daily). read more

Such a convenient downtown core fix for Korean-Asian groceries and quick to-go bites. The prepared foods are always fresh and made daily . I personally enjoy the rice triangles (someone help me with the name D: ) They're usually made through out the day as I often go after 4 pm and find ones still warm and fresh ($2.25 each). The seaweed is separately wrapped so it's nice and crisp when you're ready to eat! Other items I have tried form there are a few bakes goods and the Korean sushi rolls which I found to be priced very reasonably and quality was great. As for the groceries, the prices seem good for the seafood and meats, although they are a small store they stock relatively fresh fruits, fish, meats, dairy and breads. I love to see what they have every time I visit! Last but not least! I love the cashiers there, so polite and give you your receipt with two hands, and thank you for your patronage and seem genuinely happy in general! Makes me love stopping by all the time! read more

This location has all the usual selection of Korean foods, snacks, groceries but what makes it stand out is the hot food section near the front. They sell fried chicken, fish cakes, kim bap etc at very reasonable prices. They also have a really good shaved ice which was recently on promotion for $2 which was amazing quality for the price. Hmart has an awesome food to go section that includes rice or noode bowls, kimbap, pancakes, etc. You can get it made fresh or buy the pre-made bowls and heat it up with their microwave. The portions are huge ($6-7). I got the sticky chicken noodles. Warning: when they say spicy they were not joking. I can usually handle a decent level of spicy but this made me literally cry. Like my whole face was weeping tbh because my eyes were tearing up and my nose was running too. I would probably not get it again and opt for a non-spicy dish instead! I think their other food is probably delicious, but for this specific dish I can only give a 2/5 because I seriously don't think the majority of the population would be able to handle the heat! read more

Having recently gnawed my way through crumbling, dry, terrible onigiri at a shiny new Japanese establishment in Kensington Market, H Mart satiated my craving. I just got back from this Hmart. The selection of food there also isn't diverse. I was ordering a #2 large Korean fried chicken with Korean sauce. Usually has the soy garlic taste. I saw the chicken getting made and was getting skeptical because it was dipped in a really red sauce, looking identical to the fiery red spicy chicken #3. Which I did not order. When I asked the person who was making it, can you make sure it's not spicy, I can't eat spicy. That's why I purposely ordered the Korean sauce because it wasn't spicy. After he assured me it was the Korean sauce. I walked back to my hotel carrying my large order of chicken to only find out it was the super spicy. I tried calling, no one answered. The Hmart is a 20 minute walk from my hotel. I want a refund but they won't even answer my phone calls. Love getting lied too and scammed. read more
