I came here in the morning to get some ready to eat snacks and something sweet. The spicy rice cake was delicious and the marinated fried chicken was mid. The store is pretty small. But it did have a lot of option of snacks to choose from. I've been dying to try the taro binggrae and it was delicious. I went in here because I was still hungry after our Japanese dinner because I didn't really eat much of mine. I end up buying quite a few things actually, when I only plan on buying one thing to be able to snack on to fill me up. I bought a sweet roll which was delicious of course, a Japanese cheesecake, which I love, Some weird Japanese pizza like sandwich thing with corn and onions inside I have no idea what it was but it was OK. I got some strawberry pocky, another chocolate type snack, which I don't remember what it's called and whatever else I don't even remember. The Snacks were yummy as usual. I got them for all of us to snack on while we are playing card games that night, which was perfect. The store was quite crowded. Hard to move around in. Everything was so close together. I kind of had a rushed feeling to it in here. I felt like I had a hurry up go through the isles, grab what I want and get out. They didn't have some of the things my boys wanted to get while we were there and they didn't have some things I wanted and they were out of some of the rolls that I wanted. They did have a good selection of other things though, and I ended up buying this other dessert too that was in the frozen section. Again, I do not remember the name of it but they were in the shape of fish with a custard inside and they also come with red bean paste inside, but I got the custard ones. This is a cute mini-sized H Mart nestled between fast food chains along the street. It's larger than a convenience store and offers way more variety of groceries for sure. There is a significant produce section at the front of the store and fridges along the sides. There are lots of refrigerated and freezer goods and pantry staples throughout the store. They obviously carry a lot of Korean goods but there are also Japanese, Chinese, and North American brands as well. The prices throughout the store seem a little more expensive than what you would see at other larger Asian grocers but that kind of comes with the location and smaller location. What a nice clean and uncluttered setup (other store nearby take note). There is a decent variety given the limited space. I also appreciated the cooked items corner. The meat items are neatly packed and displayed as well. What I really appreciated were some coveted items by moi that require a trek to a larger supermarket are readily available so will save me a trip. I guess my expectations were too high, but I did not find the prices particularly great (on the higher end), and the options limited. That said, I am used to the huge stores with a lot of great deal. They were also out of a few items (e.g., the kimchi I wanted was out of stock and so were some of their cooked items). H Mart is an unexpected choice for a meal, but the front portion of the grocery store is dedicated to hot meals (and I saw bingsoo the other day). If the hot meals don't entice, there is a plethora of snacks, cold meals and grocery items to pick up instead. I've had the kimbap as a light lunch and plenty of their crunchy snacks (honey flavored chips?) before. Recently I got their large order of half and half fried chicken. It came freshly fried, half original and half spicy, in a neat cardboard take-away box, with a drink and a side of cubed pickled radishes. I preferred the non-spicy half of the chicken while my partner enjoyed their spicy half, so it was a win-win. Word of advice, the spice level for the spicy fried chicken isn't consistent. I've had it previously where it was so spicy that I (and half of the office) couldn't eat it. But I've also had it where I enjoyed it..... so a little of a gamble. read more

When I heard that there was going to be an H-mart opening near Bloor-Yonge station, I was really excited since I love Korean grocery stores. I was hoping that it would be a substitute for Galleria (another fabulous grocery). The place itself is pretty small, with around 3 aisles but they packed it with items. I noticed that some of the prices of certain things are much pricer than other places I've gone to. For example, I got a pack of noodles here for 7.99 but I found other supermarkets that carried it for 5.99 and 5.79, so be careful! Overall, very clean, bright store with great employees!! read more

You can't compare it to other H Marts due to the space, but it has everything you will need and want: cooked foods, frozen foods, vegetables, drinks, snacks. What I really appreciate is how nicely packaged the produce and meat are, as well as their freshness. No sad looking veggies. Their ribeye looked better than what I see at Sobey's and Loblaws. H Mart literally saves me the trouble of walking all the way to Chinatown (Spadina) whenever I forget something. Their selection is quite large for a little convenience shop/grocery store mix. There are ready to eat/go foods in the front. I've never tried them but they do smell good. Their triangle seaweed wrap (don't know what it's called) tasted really fresh last time I had one when I got off of work. They have a grocery section in the back. You can shop some basic Asian vegetables which are pretty clean if comparing to Chinatown (LifeTip: MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS WASH YOUR VEGGIES!!). There's a section in the middle which keeps frozen/refrigerated foods including rolls, ricebowls, and mochis. Their fish cakes are quite good once cooked. Their raw meats are a little pricey but worth it if you don't want too far from Eaton Square area. Their shredded beef seems to be less oily as well when cooked. They have shredded beef, pork, and beef cubes/slices. Overall, I come here at least 2-3 times a week and it almost never disappoints. read more

In a very small space, H Mart has managed to pack a whole ton of things into their 3 aisles. You can find a small selection of prepared meals, sashimi, fruits, veggies, Korean specialties, spices and mixes, meats, and fish along with many areas dedicated to instant ramen, snacks, baked goods, and more. They even have a small wall for kitchen utensils and bathroom/laundry items. I originally stepped in to cool off from the hot humid September weather and I ended up taking a slow browse through all the aisles. It's rare to see a H Mart nestled into the downtown. You can probably come to H Mart to satisfy your specialty snack cravings because they have a lot and managed to pack a lot into a small space. I was quite impressed. I ended up getting a fresh cream soboro sandwich/pastry thing to go but wouldn't hesitate to come back if I had to satisfy a snack attack. read more

There are many charms when it comes to this convenience/grocery store. One being that it is placed at an extremely convenient location. The second is that they carry many Japanese and Korean snacks that many grocery stores wouldn't carry. These are great reasons. However that's where it ends. I was excited to see that this store had sold cotton candy grapes when Loblaws no longer carried it(which are a premium compared to your green grapes). Without looking and because they were inside the cotton candy grapes bag, I purchased it without hesitation. Only to my horrific surprise that half the bag was filled with the lower cost green grapes. I stopped going back because of the lack of quality(perhaps even integrity) of the store. Because I could not find these grapes anywhere else(and was addicted to them) I went back in with caution this time. To my surprise they had 4 bags of the cotton candy grapes that I was seeking. After carefully analyzing the bags, 1 had close no cotton candy grapes, 2 had about 20%, and 1 bag was half filled, with rest of the bags essentially filled with the regular green grapes. To make an extra few dollars for a bag a grapes just screams a lack of integrity. Perhaps it could have been customers swapping the grapes out and into other bags but for this to happen twice, this is just upsetting. read more

Prices are definitely higher than other Asian supermarkets. Selection of Korean foods is quite extensive however, it does not mean the food is fresh. I bought prepackage Jokbal (slices of braised pig feet) and there was a green colour to the meat. I spent money on this product and I bought it yesterday. I should not be seeing discolouration in my meat since other pieces of meat were the typical braised-soy sauce colour. read more

An a nice Asian store for me to buy stuff and stock my hotel room with so I'm not starving at 1 in the morning. (Pro tip, try to get a room with a mini fridge). I like places like this store because they have selections of the things I like most when I'm out of town and staying in an area I'm not familiar with. They have a lot of the Asian specialty drinks I enjoy. They also have a lot of those Asian pastries you usually see in China towns all over the world. The prices were a little more expensive than I expected but the service was good. They had a small area dedicated to hot foods you could order from but with the huge selection of restaurants around the area, I passed on it. Small but mighty! In this area it's the best place to pick up Asian groceries, the main focus of course being Korean items but a decent selection of Japanese stuff too. There's a small produce section which is not bad, though one time I bought some bagged bok choy that wasn't as fresh as I thought. I was really excited to see an authentic asian grocery store so close to my home, as you m always looking for thai curry pastes and lime leaves and things like that for Thai and Vietnamese cooking. The mart was clean and stocked floor to ceiling with food. They even had a small frozen seafood and meat section as well as fresh meats. They also had prepared meals and fresh made meals to offer, this place really serves the Ryerson crowd very well but for me, i didn't find it useful for what i usually go to asian markets for, its more geared towards quick eats. read more

A great new Korean grocery store that just opened at Yonge and Bloor. It's always mobbed ! The prices vary but on the whole I've found them better than Bloor Street Market and the Lougos nearby, especially on produce. Also a great selection of noodle, seaweed and Korean sweets. I like most of the side dishes I've tried and it's a good addition on nights when I cook home made meals! I'd recommend the marinated fried chicken, and the Korean sushis. Some cashiers were not friendly. I went there December 19th 10:33pm, there were 2 cashiers one of the name is Yuna( from my receipt) I asked to keep snacks which is I'm going to buy. Just 10 seconds later, I came back the cashier with additional snacks. At that time, there was no line. They asked me to use the basket next time. I understand what they are saying, but I had 2 big bags and there are almost 6 people that I wanted to go. Came here because it's the closest asian market to my apartment. Good selection of asian veggies, high quality meat, and noodles. They have the ready-made food as well but I've only tried the mapo tofu and that was a bit too oily for my taste. My fav thing to get here is the soymilk. It tastes like the kind I could get from streetcarts in Taiwan/Thailand/Vietnam. The ingredients are only soybeans, water, and sugar. Much healthier and more authentic than the standard soymilk you could get at regular supermarkets. read more

Walked by accidentally and was shocked (pleasantly) to see that Kitchen Stuff Plus had been replaced by an Asian grocery store! Random location for it, but they did a lot with the space. It has everything from prepared meals (onigiri are $2.25 each!), to frozen mochi, to beef and pork, and over an entire aisle for all things noodle. Counter service was meh, and confusing AF, but it wouldn't be an Asian store without some level of confusion. I needed cauliflower as I was on my way home from downtown, and saw the words "Asian grocery". I can never pass up browsing an Asian grocery store so in I went. This one is like a hybrid corner store/grocery store, primarily stocked with Korean goods. It is small but clean, tidy, and well-lit. There is a small produce section in the front, where I found my cauliflower, as well as some gai lan, garlic, and other fresh Asian ingredients. They have a decent selection of fresh meat as well (pork belly, chicken, kalbi-cut beef short ribs). Across from the meat was an entire wall of instant noodles and other Asian canned goods. I even found my favourite Crystal Noodle bean thread instant noodle cups here! They only have three choices (sesame, 6 mushroom, or hot & sour), but I hadn't been able to find them anywhere else thus far so that really made my day. There's a whole selection of Korean pastes and soy sauces too, and lots of frozen goodies. I would have loved to browse longer if I'd had more time. Prices seemed normal; some great deals, other things more pricey. It's nice to see a random Asian grocery store downtown. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. It's a decent Asian supermarket in downtown and it's clean!! I love browsing around the snack section and the frozen treats section. There are more premium imports compared to Chinatown supermarkets and you don't have to worry about accidentally buying expired goods. If you go around 7pm they have a lot of their prepared meals at 20% off, which just shows they really care about serving fresh food to their customers. All in all it's not as good as the North York one but I'll take what I can get downtown. read more

Great little Korean speciality grocery store a few minutes walk from my workplace. I went in today and I was freezing when I stepped in. They must have blasted the AC to 10 degrees or something but it was hot our so I'm not complaining. The packaged onigiri here was delicious. This H Mart is off the hook! It's small but is crammed full of amazing Korean food. My personal suggestions are: octopus marinated wasabi, sushi, pickled daikon, sashimi salad, elven eggs and any of the marinated meats you take home and cook. I was very impressed that they have items I don't normally see like cockle sashimi, so I am a fan just because of that. Not only was I completely ignored by two cashiers having a conversation, but when a third finally decided to semi do her job, she refused to take my items out of the basket (there is literally nowhere to put items at the cash). This store's "real" food to packaged foods needs to improve. As it stands, it's no more than a glorified Asian 7-Eleven. Basically, there is too much junk over fresh and some of the fresh, prepped items look like it is about to expire. I would much rather make the trek up to Galleria the good stuff (yes, I realize Galleria is a full service supermarket, but in today's health-conscious world, instant noodles and over-processed sauces are not what people want).
