Oh how I miss the days this H mart used to have longer hours! Still a solid K-grocery store at Yonge and Finch. This location is smaller than the others, so expect a bit more chaos. Not as well kept or stocked as the other larger locations. The area in front of the prepared food fridge gets especially busy, because the isle is so narrow. When you walk in, during colder weather you're greeted by the smell of roasted sweet potatoes, cooking up right at the entrance. It's hard to resist the smell, but sadly, they're often sold out. They also have a newish bunsik stall right outside the entrance selling the usual fare like gim-mari. Cup binsu during hotter months. I really like that as the years have gone by, this location has started carrying more Chinese grocery items too. If you wanted to cook up some hotpot today, you could grab everything at H-mart. read more

I bought a lot of snacks for my daughter from H Mart . Today, I opened a soft candy and ate one. As I was chewing, I found something hard in the middle. At first, I thought it was just a piece of hard candy. I kept chewing for a long time, but it was tasteless, hard, and wouldn't melt. We're not dining in yet, but are taking out from one of our most trusted grocery stores, H-Mart. We bought the hwae-dup-bap (sashimi don) and added two separate sashimi items: the octopus and the hokegai. They give you a gorgeous, fiery, spicy, vinegary cho-gochuchang on the side. Transferred it to our bowls and it was amazing. The vegetables were pristinely cleaned. We're never dissatisfied with H-Mart. read more

GREAT location in downtown, so easy to get to. It's a small store, packed with goodness! They have a variety of pre-packaged meals - noodles, rice, kimchi, seaweed, gimbaps, etc - limited frozen foods, some drinks, pretty good selection of chips (we found the difficult-to-find Indonesian mi-goreng chips!) & some basic groceries. Our fave was the triangle kimbaps! They have tuna, spicy tuna, bulgogi, crab, kimchi. These are so convenient when u travel. The store is simple, functionally arranged, with no specific decor. The staff was efficient & straight forward, but not rude. It is a small place, so can get pretty crowded. It is not a place where u want to walk around with little kids with strollers. read more

There are two H Mart's on Yonge street and my sweetie needed her Uber driver (aka Me) to accompany her on a fact finding mission. Seems she has friends that told her to check out this Korean-American supermarket chain with about 100 store worldwide; 13 located in Canada. Well, first of all, you gotta pay for street Toronto P parking. Second, these stores sell many of the same products so you have choice which location you prefer. Store checkout staff are friendly quick to process your purchases. My sweetie saw many products and I could see the smoke coming out from her ears. She was running through a list of her favourite products and figuring out how this place compares to other Korean grocery stores (...like Galleria Supermarket). My two cents when asked, was to think of H Mart's like a convenience store where the selection is less but you're likely going to have to pay a little more for the convenience. My now favorite go to to buy salmon sashimi, short ribs and also to grab some gim bap, taiyaki and spicy rice cakes. Also I love their food court! I tend to go to the bbq chicken stall or the buk chang dong soon tofu ( soooo good) Super convenient and since they have ready to go food in the back. When Galleria is too far, H Mart is an excellent alternative. H Mart is a mini hybrid of a Korean grocery store and department store. Here, you can find not only packaged food and pre-made meals, you can also find skin care products, bath products, and kitchen ware. However, if you're looking for fresh produce, you'll need to go to the other H Mart on Yonge (about a 15 mins walk). Even though these two branches are so close in proximity, I prefer this one because of how it's next to the Finch Station entrances. It's highly convenient to visit, particularly if you're a metro pass user since you can get off at Finch Station, head over here for a little shopping and then hop back onto the transit in one easy transition. Seriously, this will save you a lot of time and energy with your monthly shopping! The price of H Mart's baked goods and packaged processed foods are often on the more expensive side. This is a similar trend that you'll find at Galleria too, so it's nothing surprising. However, I do recommend you to buy most of your groceries elsewhere, particularly at Chinese/Taiwanese supermarkets where the same food items can be found at a lower price. If you're looking for pre-packaged ready to eat Korean food though, then H Mart is golden. Near the entrance, they have an assortment of kimbap, bibimbap, japchae, dumplings, katsu, and rice balls among other items. Not only are they generally flavourful, they are all reasonably priced, especially in the evenings when the workers often discount the foods by 20-50 percent. Need some cheap eats without exerting too much energy or when you're too busy to dine out? Then, go to H Mart where I have often purchased discounted kimbap and proudly feasted on the bus with chopsticks! H Mart is a superb resource for students and people on the go. It complements any major grocery chain, and you can purchase your pre-made dinner while shopping for your necessities! Life is so much easier with this store around! I'm reviewing a 2nd Hmart because I frequent both these locations depending on which direction I'm headed in. This Hmart is smaller than the one further north on Yonge, but fits in a lot of great foods and products. It's bright and clean, and the staff are pretty helpful on the few times I've asked for something. I basically check for the ready made foods, frozen foods, some veggies (they have a few good organic products - mainly leafy greens), and sashimi/sushi. I do prefer the other Hmart when I'm getting prepackaged dry foods because there's a bigger variety to choose from. But in a pinch, this location has most of the staples and a decent selection. Such a fun store! There are so many spices and sauces and the frozen section is chock full of dumplings and desserts. The meat and veg sections were a bit small, so I don't think you could do your weekly shop here. But it is a great place for a quarterly visit to stock up on the unique things you can't get a Fortino's. read more

This is a 24hr Korean mini mart. They have prepared Korean food like gimbap, kimchi dumplings and onigiris! It is located in an area with bars and karaoke joints, so parking can be a bit difficult. You can park on the side of the street or behind the store. As well, suring busy mights, you may have to wait in line at the cashier. This location is great if you live around the area. Parking might be a problem but you can always park on adjacent side streets. The prices are decent and I'm usually here for the prepared food such as the spicy tuna gimbap (triangle shape) $1.59! Especially better when there is a sale at the end of the day. Their produce area is alright. Perhaps I will buy more next time. I thought some things were very well priced. Kimchee for a small bottle (cuz who can finish a large one?! omg...) was approx $ 4.50. Have come by here a few times when the larger grocery stores are closed (or I'm too lazy to drive). The prices are fair enough, and the selection of fruits, vegetables, and frozen Korean items are what enticed me to give it a try. The service however, leaves much to be desired. I like to buy fruits, vegetables seaweed and eggs. Great for busy people who want to get good food quickly without huge lineups, the staff are always quick to help checkout.
