Lots of asian snacks in one place. I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection. I found so many snacks and flavors I've never seen anywhere else. Prices were also very reasonable considering they were shipped from all over Asia. At first glance some of the snacks have expired, 2-5 months from purchase date but it's actually the production date. Good thing for Google translate. I make it a habit to visit each time I return from the US. I love getting snacks made with truffle or salted egg and this grocery store has a large selection of it. Just have to look. read more

Still my absolute favourite Asian supermarket after all these years. Their produce is fresh and crisp. The supermarket is clean and spotless. Large variety of everything you can think about is here. Prices are more expensive here but you really do pay for what you get. It's not just the products, it's also the customer service in my opinion. Cashiers are happy and will actually smile at you when checking out. Parking situation is a tad annoying since it's at First Markham Place, and it's always busy here. Overall, worth the hectic parking lot and the amount of people. It's the best Asian supermarket in Markham, hands down! read more

I'm giving 3 stars for consistently fresh veggies, seafood and meat, large selection of Asian food and cosmetics, fast service, clean store. There are problems too;parking is a nightmare, especially on weekends. Sometimes, especially on weekdays when they're not busy, the security guard at the door tries to make himself look busy by harassing customers. Usually, while I look for parking, my teenage son goes in and starts shopping. But if the store is empty, security guard stops him from going in, for no reason. This happened multiple times. When the store is busy and there are lots of people, nobody does stuff like that. read more

My heart filled with pure envy the moment I walked in, and that feeling only grew as I wandered through the aisles. I live in Miami, and with our relatively small Asian community, nothing quite like Fresh Food Mart exists back home. For a foodie, this place is paradise -- or maybe a little bit of purgatory, knowing I was only there to browse and not actually fill a cart. The variety is incredible, especially when it comes to seafood and other proteins. The vegetables looked fresh and beautiful, and the selection of nearly everything seemed endless. Every aisle brought another discovery, from ingredients I rarely see at home to an impressive range of products that makes you want to start planning your next meal before you even leave. A monthly rental in Markham might be in my future... because having access to places like this could be dangerous for my wallet and very good for my kitchen. read more

This is my favourite grocery store in the area. The produce is usually fresh. The storefront is clean. Lots of variety of snacks (Chinese, Japanese) and dry goods. The staff are also really friendly. Parking can get busy during peak hours but the check out lines are not too bad. read more

FreshWay Foodmart 建興超級市場 is located beside First Markham Place and is brimming with goodies. Their produce section is neatly arranged, with a variety of fruits (even fancy ones from Japan!) and veggies. Prices are mid -- not T&T level but a little more expensive than the cheaper Chinese grocers. The snack and freezer aisles are a Asian tour of munchies - interesting Chinese, Japanese, Korean treats and some seriously tempting ice creams. The whole place is bright and clean, even the fish and meat sections. And there's this cute corner with cosmetics and housewares - I always grab my fave Onpo Japanese bath bombs. They're reasonably priced. Credit cards are accepted. It's sometimes a bit difficult to find staff if you need help or have a question, and checkout lines tend to be long. read more

A great Asian grocery that always has fresh produce! The store is big, bright and clean. Always happy to get Chinese greens and fresh meat from the butcher here. For Lunar New Year they have a lot of great products and food gift items! They also carry baked goods by local small business: Wai Tak Kee. Be sure to bring your reusable bags with you because they don't give out plastic bags here! read more

Freshway is my go-to supermarket in Markham. I love going there just to shop for my groceries or just to walk in to see what's good (for my sanity sake.. especially if your home 24/7 with your little one). They have everything you need from fresh veggies, fruits, meats, seafood, huge frozen section, baked goods section, and everything else in between. Love their instant noodle section as they have a HUGE section of different flavour noods from spicy, non spicy, beef, chicken, pork and even tomato base broths! They also carry some Vietnamese herbs and spices in their fresh veggies and international aisle, which is great because I am half Vietnamese and I'm not trying to drive down to the west end just to grab some Vietnamese herbs or spices to make pho or vermicelli noodle soup at home. read more

Can I say how much I like the purple shopping carts and baskets .... lol While the prices are higher than my favorite Asian grocery store, I like to stop by when I'm shopping or eating at First Markham Place. The store is bright, clean, spacious, and very well stocked. I actually looked all over the GTA for hibiscus tea, and found it here! I was also looking for ingredients to make homemade Chinese soup, and I took one of the prepared packages to the customer service counter. Even though the woman working there was busy, she left her stand to accompany me to the aisles and find the ingredients, one by one! I find it's economical to buy it this way, and then I go home and pre-package it myself! Weekends can be busy, but there are plenty of parking spots. All forms of payment accepted. read more

This is a large Chinese supermarket located at First Markham Place. Even though the parking lot is relatively large, it is packed and difficult to find a parking space. The supermarket is clean and the food is fresh, but on the pricey side compared to other Chinese supermarkets. read more

Newly opened and very bright and clean. The aisle are nice and wide especially in today's Covid times (sure they did not anticipate for this but bonus marks for cramming everything in). The signage is actually easy to follow and correct for once! The products appear to be better quality than the regular ethnic markets in the area. One stand out is Australian Waygu striploin sub-primal and with the current 10% is a good treat to enjoy The bakery is supplied by Lucullus and sold out by the time i took a peak. Will head back in the morning one day to get a better understanding of what selections are available. read more

Freshway Foodmart makes shopping fun! Being new, the store is clean, organized and well stocked! The selection here is huge and so many choices with items that I cannot find in other Asian grocery stores. The seafood section is so impressive! Fresh uni, oysters and seafood in tanks! The fresh produce section has unique items and all so fresh! Price wise is a little more than some of the other grocery stores but for better quality items, it might worth that price tag! read more

I spotted this grocery store while visiting another store in the First Markham Place mall plaza so I took some time to do a comparison. Although this Asian supermarket has many good qualities about it like a fresh (and very clean) seafood department. other departments like produce, bakery, dairy, meats, beauty, etc. are disappointingly basic. There's no hot foods department so you'll have to find your prepared lunch elsewhere. Even the bakery doesn't have fresh cakes for special occasions unless you want to settle for a pound cake. Overall, still a nice clean store with deals to be found. read more

This place is my go to place for groceries. I feel that it isn't as good as T&T but it is way better than Winco across the street. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is large. A great selection of food from all over Asia is waiting for you when you enter. The place is clean, and the fruit is fresh. The only reason why I would remove a star is because some of its food is too expensive. Like the box of pears the pic. The fruit must be flying in a first class suite to cost so much. Overall, it is a great location with fresh food and friendly cashiers. read more

FreshWay Foodmart - Overpriced fruit. - Grocery Near Me - Markham, Ontario

The sheer size of this store is huge! Each section of the aisles seem to go on forever and have such a large selection to choose from. Fruit and vegetables are to the left when you enter, the frozen section at the back is filled with ice cream and various boba bars. Then there's instant noodles, snacks, sauces and more in the centre. Plus, there's also a beauty section beside the bakery, housewares, frozen goods beside dairy, meat at the back and seafood in the far right corner. I've heard that it gets quite busy but we had gone early in the morning and were pretty much free to roam around without running into another person. Prices are on par with other Chinese grocery stores in the area. read more

Really good. Family and I have been coming here since they've opened last year and it's been our go-to. Was pretty surprising to see another supermarket open up at First Markham place with Winco there already but it's definitely a welcome addition. They have a security at the front to make sure there aren't people over capacity and they hand out plastic gloves to shoppers. Would like to see them do some sort of temperature check system but overall the COVID measures are adequate. The supermarket is large without it feeling cramped at all like you would find at Winco or T&T around the area which is definitely appreciated. It is also really clean and bright inside so it seems well maintained so far. It has all of your expected selection you'd find at other supermarkets and is stocked well. Really good and our go-to supermarket going forward! (added note they play really good chinese songs in there) read more

Wow! This new grocery store is quite epic. We finished up our errand around the neighbourhood and we decided to pop by here to check this new place out. It was around 6 pm when we walked in. Once we walked in, we saw this place was clean and well lit. Plus everything was well organized. They got a lot of snacks and a great variety. Pricing wise ain't bad, about the market value. Employees were helpful when we have questions. Overall great experience. read more

recently started shopping here under the recommendation of a relative. TNT is usually my go to as its clean, has a good selection of snacks i like and opens late. but this is the new TNT for me! except bigger, better and cleaner! this supermarket is soo big and sooo organized/clean. it really impressed me. there are constantly people organizing the stock, cleaning up crumbs and debris from the produce shelves. i was especially amazed at the perfectly pyramid shape stacked oranges. so satisfying to look at for OCD ppl like me. the produce is very very fresh and greeeen. i think they purposely pick out the wilted outer leaves and only pack the green ones. everyone needs to shop here!! they also open late- until 11pm so i usually go after work on weekdays to avoid crowds. read more

This is by far the best supermarket I have been to in the GTA as they carry a wide assortment of various products from Asia that you will have a hard time hunting elsewhere (ex. White rabbit ice cream, Asian flavoured chips). Some of the prices can be high as they import a lot of goods (ex. Muscat grapes from Japan, strawberries from Korea, etc) but definitely worth checking out if you're in the area read more

I stayed in line to pay at the customer service counter. Two people went in front of me. I was upset and told them it was not right to jump in front of the line but the cashier didn't say anything to them and let them went in front of me and she said it was OK that they did so. read more

I want to share my experience, the shopping cart I used in this supermarket was extremely dirty, I went very early as soon as they open.
