This unique grocery boutique shop is so elegant with many beautiful flowers, tablewares, yummy food. Must try their short bread cookies, mixed berry jelly roll ( mouthful of fresh berries and mild cream). The interior is a little crowded but full of beautiful goods and yummy food. The staff is very nice as well.

Warm ambiance Excellent service Creamy ice cream Village Grocer store is known for the popular cream and fresh fruit jelly rolls and the Creamery. The good news. I got the pistachio ice-cream, 1L on sale $11.99. 4/5. Creamy texture with pistachios pieces. Usually the ice cream is $13.99. Two boxes of strawberries for $5.99, that's a great deal. The not so good imo is the Black Sesame Bread from La Petite Colline which is available at the Village Grocer. I was so excited to see Black Sesame bread and bought the pack. For $5.75 it comes with five thick slices. Personally, we were really disappointed with the sesame bread which I found to be too subtle or a lack of flavour and a little dry especially around the edges before the crust. The edges on some of the slices were condensed. I thought the bread would be airier. It would be a no-buy again. 2.5/5. I will be back at the Village Grocer again for other treats.

Village Grocers carry one of my favourite cake of all times... the jelly roll! I will make a trip up north just for it! In the past, I always order their mix berries jelly roll. When I went recently, I discovered in addition to their mixed berries jelly roll, they had a mango strawberry jelly roll, a matcha jelly roll and a chestnut jelly roll! The staff managing their bakery station told me they have the other flavours only on the weekends. So I guess it was my lucky day! I ordered their chestnut roll since you can easily buy matcha flavoured desserts almost everywhere you go these days. We had it that night for dessert, the cream had a light chestnut flavour and I loved how there's macadamia nuts in there giving it a nice crunch which goes well with the smooth cream inside the fresh cake. We really enjoyed it and will likely give the other flavours a chance next time!

Time for a sweet treats review of the village grocer. Lots of fresh and delicious baked goods and treats available! Food: We tried the jelly roll. The design is simplistic but mouth watering. The cake is soft and moist yet firm enough to hold against all the cream and fruit. The fruit are fresh and ripe. The cream is just the right sweetness to hold the cake and fruit altogether - 5/5. The m&m cookies are amazing as well. The cookies have a great crunch and crispy exterior, the chocolate from the m&ms is tasty. The sea salt on top is a brilliant addition to enough the cookies flavor. 5/5

Really nice atmosphere, relaxing and the fresh scent of flowers are very welcoming. Beautiful exterior and interior design. Prices are slightly higher than average super markets, however the service and the shopping experience are worth it. Food is okay, it's known for it's mixed berry jelly roll cake.

I have lived in Markham for over 20 years and have visited this place numerous times, but the one thing I have never tried before was their jelly roll. I finally decided to try it, and to my surprise, it was extremely tasty and light! There is a good balance of cream and fruit inside that doesn't make it too sweet. The pricing is affordable, and the service is great. However, one thing I noticed is that they no longer serve muffins that have the huge muffin top on them anymore! Those were my favorite types of muffins growing up, and I miss them!

Wowza! What a great grocery store. All quality stock and even products you can't find at other traditional brick and mortar grocery chains. I come here all the time to get a Caesar dressing I can't find anywhere else. I'm amazed at all the wonderful and fresh products they have. The only down side is it is a little pricey. That's why I gave them 4 stars. But for their service and product range and product quality it definitely merits above 5 stars even. Would I recommend? A resounding yes, if you can afford it. I will say for the quality you get it is well worth the visit. I will be back for sure!

The Village Grocery creamery and bakery are my two favourite sections of this store. The cakes are amazing and every week they feature a different ice cream at the creamery.

Let me just say that I'm not the type of person to buy cakes from grocery stores...I don't want to sound high maintenance and picky at all...but for some reason, I just don't lol! Anyhow, I went into Village Grocer with no expectations and to my surprise they had a variety of cakes, all of which looked phenomenal btw. My preference for cakes is the lighter the better, even though I have the biggest sweet tooth! Surprisingly this cake, even though, it's a cheesecake was not heavy at all...weird right? It gets better...it was kind of refreshing...like definitely can taste the mango without it being too artificial and overpowering but I didn't hate it after 2 bites...lol very rare! Definitely would recommend checking them out!

You got the best ice cream in GTA!! I love your own brand of mango ice-cream. Is a bit on the pricey point but it's worth.

This place is slightly hard to find. It's located in a dogey plaza in the east end of Markham. I…read moreonly found out of this place through a friend because she brought in some really tasty meats for our last BBQ. I don't think I would have ever stepped into this place otherwise. Once you enter in, someone greets you and asks you what you want. Everything is pre-bagged so you just tick off which meats you want and they pull it out of the tray or fridge for you. I ordered a bag of kalbi ribs, two bags of chicken thighs in different flavours. I don't find the kalbi really tasty for some reason. Maybe the marinade is too light but I wasn't a fan of the texture of the meat either. The chicken thighs on the other hand kicked it out of the ball park. The curry one is soooo juicy and delicious and I love the flavours. Prices are pretty good too. I can't remember exactly how much it was but I think the 3 bags were under $30 and they were more than enough to feed a family of 6.

Everything is marinated beforehand so this would be great if you planned a last minute bbq. I would get everything but the squid again. The squid didn't have any unique flavour to it and was quite bland in my opinion. If you get it I would recommend adding some sauce prior to putting it on the grill. As a side note, the shop's location has changed, which is shown on a notice at the door. They are located at another unit, called Ah Fong, in the same plaza. The plaza itself is super run down but don't judge a book by its cover - the meat here is amazing!

We have tried a few places in and around Markham that sell Wagyu, but non of them blew us away. I decided to do a random search for Japanese Butchers and Wagyu and came across FãMu Inc. which is listed as "The only Japanese Butcher in Ontario". FãMu is the Japanese pronunciation of farm. They are all about animals that are pasture or free-run, raised without chemicals, antibiotics, hormones or animal bi-products. Located in J Town, an indoor/outdoor mall of Japanese businesses located On Steeles Avenue E near Woodbine in Markham. (LOVED the shops at J Town!!). We have had several great experiences with this shop since our first visit 9 months ago. Everyone in shop is very helpful and knowledgeable about all of the cuts they sell. Our first try of FãMu we purchased the A5 Wagyu Miyazaki Striploin. BBQ'd on the grill for 2 min on each side (as per the butchers recommendation), the cuts were bbq'd to perfection and just melted in our mouths. I have never eaten a steak anywhere that was so perfectly marbled and so tender. I would say it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! The next would be the Australian Wagyu Ribeye we picked up (15oz cuts). A little on the pricey side, but WOW, you get what you pay for and no better way to indulge in a perfect steak bbq. Some of the cuts of Japanese Wagyu they sell are: Kobe - A5 Kuromame Nagi - A5 Furano - A5 Miyazaki (Miyazakigyu)- A5 Hokkaido (Tokachi) - A5 Various Regions Of Japan - A4 Plus ~ Australian Wagyu, US Wagyu, Chicken, Berkshire Pork, Wagyu burgers and Wagyu slices for Sukiyaki Hot Pots and more! During 2 of our recent visits we also tried their Double Wagyu Beef Bowl. Thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu seasoned with in store made terriyaki/soy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Small portion for the cost, but filling and THE most tender beef bowl you will ever try! Not sure about which cut to try, visit their website and you can get detailed info on each cut, you can also stop in and ask or order online. In shop everyone is very warm, friendly and happy to help if you have any questions.
