Summary: It's not a must come visit, however if you live in the area and looking for a good spot to hit up all your Taiwanese goods and products, look no further! Also for any travelers that might be staying in the Markham area, and maybe you can't get Taiwanese goods that easily, then for sure come check it out. It's not as modern and aesthetically upscale as the newer Taiwanese Maeli Market but it still will hit that Taiwanese spot.

After the event was over, I did some browsing around the supermarket before I left. It was my first time at any Galleria Supermarket. Think T&T Supermarket, but with Korean goods. I dig supermarkets and this one was cool. It's funny that I pass by the Galleria on Steeles Avenue West, just west of Yonge Street, every week after work. I've never gone in there, mainly because I'd have to do a left turn from Steeles Avenue West. When leaving this place, I'd need to do a left turn without a set of traffic lights. Otherwise, I'd have to do the around-the-block set of right turns. It's just seems so inconvenient. If I were heading westbound, I'd have better luck. I do like this Galleria. There was a lot of parking. I am also familiar with the area, with California Sandwiches around the corner. I saw massive tubs of kimchi. When you see so many varieties of kimchi and the vessels to have it ferment if you make your own, you know that you're in a good supermarket with everything that you need. I liked seeing travel utensil kits with chopsticks, spoons, and more. I got stuck in the housewares section, looking at plates, bowls, kettles, frying pans, rice cookers, and more. I love small appliances. It was so tough tearing myself out of this part of the store. I had a can of Sac Sac from the event. It had peeled grapes in it. It was so good that I know I'll return to this supermarket just for this product alone. So good! I frankly would like to live in this supermarket. It has heat-and-eat items. There's also a food court that I need to explore. It's a huge store! I loved everything that I saw. I'll be back to buy and be broke afterwards. (447)

They had so many tasting stations and I tried persimmon before it got soft for the first time and really enjoyed it. We also found some spicy raw crabs, which were very reasonably priced and tasty. They also had sashimi grade frozen hamachi which could be thawed and immediately eaten. All the station ladies were really friendly and it wasn't crowded with K-pop playing. Very glad we dropped by today.

The fried food was very chripsy and flavourful. The rice was cooked very delicately, just like how Taiwanese chefs do. They were a bit pricy but it's invaluable to let people from Taiwan to feel the sense of reminiscence of hometown.

They often have samples too. When they have meat specials, if they sell out the day before, they restock around noon-1pm, so don't come too early. Staff are very helpful when you ask about this, going as far as asking inside the meat department. They sell the usual mix of Korean groceries, and also have banchan, rice cake, and bread. There are also specials that are not on the flyer, if something is close to expiration, so check those out too.

Looking to get your Korean grocery goods?…read more H-Mart is a spot we visit occasionally to stock up on Korean noodles, taiyaki, frozen snacks, fried chicken and other hot food from time-to-time. There's quite a vast selection from produce, meats & seafood to Asian drinks and hot food. Unfortunately everything is still relatively overpriced compared to other Asian groceries judging by the prices of their seafood market, hot food stand, specialty beer and even the taiyaki now. One positive is the number of sample stations now in-store. There's also a handful of food court options from BB.Q Chicken to Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu. We weren't impressed though by the cleanliness of the food court. If you're planning to have a meal, just be prepared to take a while to find parking in the busy plaza parking lot. Skip it or hit it? We will usually skip it until the next Korean food craving hits in 1-2 years unless it's something we can't get it elsewhere!
