The most special thing of it is that it has a kitchen that provides Taiwanese food. You can buy Taiwanese-style Bento (lunchbox). We ordered fried chicken and pork chop bentos this time. The fried food was very chripsy and flavourful. The rice was cooked very delicately, just like how Taiwanese chefs do. They were a bit pricy but it's invaluable to let people from Taiwan to feel the sense of reminiscence of hometown. read more

There is also 2 hours of free parking with a $15 purchase. I dropped by Maeli Market on a Sat afternoon to browse their selection of snacks and drinks. We came here for the lunar new year turtles and were happy to find out that they had some - because we didn't do a preorder. The shop has some great items but if you walked around any large Asian shopping mall/plaza you can find the same products. We picked up some Hello Kitty items and ate the taro turtles (which were fantastic). Service was okay but a little slow. Worth the visit if you are in the area but not worth a dedicated trip. read more

Went and theres 2 hrs free parking in the paring lot but you have to make a $15 purchase at the market. The place is small but nice. Got their special tortoise pastry, usually its suppose to be preordered but i was lucky i hot the one and only in the flavour i wanted red bean!!!! It was delicious!!! read more

Location/Service This place is a little tuck in the corner on the ground floor of a parking complex by the building where Shoppers Drug Mart is. There's free parking available in the complex with a purchase (staff will validate). This place is setup as a mini supermarket with hot food serving available. It's really cute in terms of its setup and I love they don't overcrowd the spacing to leave more room for exploration and open space. Staff are very nice, I like how Alice (the owner) makes a lot of recommendation on different and unique Taiwanese imported products - whether it's snacks or utensils. Food Most of the items in the market are imported from Taiwan - so very exclusive and unique. There's a variety to choose from: drinks (bubble tea or tea) to snacks (chips, cookies) to instant noodles to frozen goods to kitchen related utensils. Definitely take your time to explore and see what you like. They also offer hot food bentos - at around $12-$15 per. And what I love it's that they are made on the spot - so you know it's fresh. They have a selection from popcorn chicken to braised pork to dumplings/sandwiches. I also noticed that they are much more healthier in terms of how they are made - with quinoa rice and fresh vegetables. I don't see much ounce of oiliness in the bento - it's so amazing! You need to place order at the kitchen counter, then pay at the cashier. Show your receipt to kitchen counter to pick up food. It takes 10-15 minutes. Their cooking is healthy, less salt and oil. Brand new Taiwanese supermarket. They sell all type of unique flavoured chips such as Taiwanese oyster omelette flavoured chips. Giant frozen squid balls, different tea, coffee, tapioca Mochi, soap, the list goes on. Very clean and nice ambiance. Reminds me of like a new J town, selling taiwanese products! 3.5 Stars. A new Taiwanese market that opened up recently (was supposed to open up in the summer...but..Covid). It's small, but lots of interesting items here. From fruit based vinegars (passionfruit, plum, lemon etc) to candies, jellies, sauces, teas, and a small frozen food section in the back, this tiny market packs a punch! There is even a hot food station - you can order various bento boxes ($11.50). They are all made fresh (you can see them working in the large industrial kitchen). It takes about 20-25 minutes to prepare, so put in your order first, then carry on with your shopping. I ordered the deep fried milk fish (think tempura fish) and it was good! Crispy and flavourful, but light and not greasy at all. Can't ask for more! There is a parking garage here, and they will validate your parking with a $15 purchase. Popcorn chicken - possible the most Taiwanese street food tasting popcorn chicken in Toronto - other than... it was super super salty... like they accidentally dropped the salt shaker. But very good otherwise. 2. Sweet potato Q balls - very mildly sweet, a bit crunchy on the outside. Tasted great! 3. Crispy red yeast pork bento - the portion is small for a bento, but the taste was amazing and had a lot of side veggies - just like a real Taiwanese bento. We were also able to find some goodies that cannot be bought at T&T and other Chinese supermarkets. The staff were all nice and polite. read more

Just make sure to show up before 6PM as that's when the kitchen closes. I would definitely come back again to try out more of their food options as I came closer to when they closed unfortunately. I adore Maeli Market. The store is clean and a zen modern atmosphere. Staff are polite. There are a ton of vegetarian and vegan Buddhist friendly products! They even have the infamous vegan friendly stinky tofu hotpot packs. The store is filled with endless shelves of sweet and savoury snacks options. There is a great variety of teas from packaged milk tea to loose tea leafs. The most surprising part of the store are the beautiful Taiwanese potteries. The potteries are sublime. The only disappointing part of the store is that both vegetarian and meats are deep fried together. I was really excited about the bentos; however, didn't try due to the preparation methods. Hopefully someday, Maeli Market will have a dedicated food preparation area for the vegan options. read more

Found out about this Taiwanese goodies store as I live around the neighbourhood. Anyhow, this place is very nicely decorated. They don't carry fresh produces, rather they got lots of Taiwanese snacks and other goodies that are more native to Taiwan. A Taiwanese market located at Hwy 401 and Victoria Park. You can park in the parking garage for free if you spend over $15. Everything sold here is made in Taiwan. They do offer some things that you can't find at other Asian supermarkets( e.g. Bubble Tea Chips- meh nothing special, would recommend going to buy a cup of bubble tea instead). Overall, some key things from Taiwan were missing. I was really hoping they would have the iconic brands of Pineapple Cake (e.g. Chia Te and Sunny Hills). They have a kitchen where you can order bentos and they'll make it fresh. The menu is rather limited. Wish they had more Taiwanese signature dishes like Oyster Pancake, Stinky Tofu, Braised Beef Noodles, etc. They do have the braised tea egg for $1.50 each. Definitely check it out if you haven't. But personally, I wouldn't be coming here again. Nothing special enough for me to drive here. read more

I haven't been to this area for over a year and it is nice to see more restaurants and food related places open up. Maeli market specializes in Taiwanese food products but they also sell some kitchen utensils (there were some pots). The food selection was limited, but they do cover all the essential categories: snacks, noodles, condiments and frozen food. I recognize some of the products are also sold at T&T and other Asian grocery store. We picked up some rice crackers, salted duck egg chips, egg rolls, noodles and sesame oil which added up to around $25. If you buy $15 worth of goods, you get free indoor parking for 2 hours. read more

I visited this Taiwanese market for the first time today, what a pleasant experience! The staff was courteous when addressing all my questions, and even proactively offer a parking validation ticket when I was ready to pay. Hot food is ready at 11:00 a.m. so we didn't get to try it since we got there at 10:30 when it opened and didn't want to wait. The store is spacious and offers kitchen utensils such as knives, cups and other cooking devices. They also carry different kinds of sauce, tea, noodles, marinades, cookies, all Taipei products to name a few. I will definitely head back during lunch hour to try their food! read more

Came here for the first time recently and left with a bunch of snacks! It's like a mini supermarket - not a huge store but they have a good variety of products from fresh bentos to frozen foods to teas/drinks and snacks. I think all the products sold here are made in Taiwan, and I tried to stick to items that I haven't seen before at T&T. Also tried the basil and chicken bento and the pork belly gua bao which were both pretty good. Parking is in an adjacent lot but free with $15 purchase which is pretty easy. I bought two baos (beef and pork belly) from Maelli market. It took them less than 10 mins from the time of ordering to make it. It was in a microwaveable container so I was able to bring it home and heat it up in 30 seconds. The baos were filled with lots of meat and vegetables. It was crunchy (from the vegetables) and tender at the same time. They tasted really good. You can park in the visitor parking and you can ask the cashier for a parking pass to use when you exit. Their last call is at 3:30pm. The kitchen closes at 4pm. If you are cutting close to last call time, give them a call so they can prepare it for you for pick up. The alternative would be to order through Ubereats. read more

Supporting local small business! Not exactly the most accessible location but not too bad. Parking doesn't look convenient in the area but there is underground parking or outer parking in which you could waive the fee by shopping and asking for a parking receipt. I didn't need to ask and was automatically offered upon checkout, so that was really nice of them. I also really appreciate how they ask if you need a bag for 10 cents or they can offer you a used cardboard box. Some places don't even bother to say anything to customers, so this kind of customer service is praise worthy. Keep it up! There's a kitchen area but unfortunately, I was in a rush to go and didn't get to look too closely about what's available. I'll come back another time and hopefully they still have the soft serve ice cream! The prices for products aren't any more expensive than supermarkets, so this could be an option for anyone looking to shop within the area. read more

@maelimarket opened up right outside the office, so had to try it. They advertise a little but if Taipei in Toronto, and they have prepackaged foods and snacks and drinks, but also a made to order kitchen where you can get delicious bentos. I had the Taiwanese popcorn chicken (of course) but I was shocked to see the beauty of it!! So well balanced with rice and glass noodles and squash and celery! But the flavour is the thing here. The chicken is punchy, with a very good amount of five-spice, definitely tasting it. Each component is seasoned separately and each taste great on their own but even better all together. The atmosphere is really nice and they have a lot of Taiwanese imported goods. If you are a fan of Hello Kitty-related things, they have a wide variety of snacks and drinks that are Hello Kitty-themed. I was able to buy some Taiwanese specific items, however majority of items could be bought at your local T&T. The service was really good and the staff was really polite. One thing to keep in mind is that if you buy something from this store, you get free parking the parking garage. One thing that was absolutely spectacular was the ice cream. They had roasted oolong and almond flavour which gave a really rich aroma! read more

This review is for the cooked food. What a pleasant surprise! All of the dishes were beautifully assembled in disposable bamboo containers and most importantly, everything was delicious! It was nice that the bentos (round containers) included vegetable side dishes inside (pumpkin, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, cabbage & carrot). This place is far from where I live but I think I love this place. The place is clean with good vibe and it specialized in selling Taiwanese items. The staff there are very polite and friendly. This place is a supermarket and also sell hot food items as well. I know nothing about Taiwanese goods so I really cannot say how good or authentic the items are but when I check the item they sell randomly, pretty much all the items I looked at is made in Taiwan so I guess it's authentic.. lol. I had a nice time shopping there and bought some items I don't normally find in TnT or Chinese supermarket, eg. Passionfruit vinegar, Plum vinegar, onion oil, garlic oil ... etc.. Also tried their hot food items and I wouldn't say it's the best tasting food but it is a pretty looking meal box and taste good in my opinion. Cost about $11 per meal box on average, not cheap but not super expensive either ... so I went there again the next day to try some of their other meal box as well. Give it a try... From talking to the folks who worked there, they opened for a year during when Ontario got hit by pandemic the hardest... poor them. I hope they will continue to do well as I do love this place. This mini market is located near corporate buildings and across from the Audi and Porsche dealership. The place is filled with so many Taiwanese snacks and they also have a kitchen that they makes bentos and snacks daily. I tried the braised red yeast bento with red yeast sauce and as well, the popcorn fish! I have heard of popcorn chicken but fish was a first for me. Pleasantly surprised, these two items were really delicious. Will be back for more! read more

This place is a new Taiwanese boutique shop that sells various food products which include pantry items like pickled vegetables, specialty flours, sauces, flavourings, spices, snacks as well as some refridgerated and frozen food items. After finding out they had prepared food, came back this weekend to try it. Called ahead to order and the food was ready in 10 min for pick up. Ordered two bentos, pork belly and fried red yeast pork. They also came with a small soup each which was a pleasant surprise. Both of these were good but I particularly liked the red yeast pork that eats almost like a sweet and sour flavour. The bento also had a variety of vegetables, pumpkin, cabbage and carrot mix, bamboo shoots, braised mushroom, some pickled veg and garnished with radish and sprouts. Really enjoyed the various flavours together. I imagine that these sides may change with what's in season. While the serving size is perfect for me, it may not be what some people are use to. There is a layer of rice below the meat and vegetables rather than a pile or mound of rice. I also enjoyed the meal since it did not eat greasy but rather felt pretty healthy even though it was fatty pork :p I look forward to going back and trying the other bentos, their interesting rice ball/onigiri and other foods that may come out in the future. read more
