As of late, I have been enjoying getting groceries at FreshCo. Lately, I have been taking in movies on Saturdays at the SilverCity in Richmond Hill. Before heading over there, I like to get most of my errands out of the way, which includes getting groceries. The closest FreshCo by the movie theatre is this one on Major MacKenzie Drive, just west of Leslie Street. Why do I like this store? - You can earn Scene points on everything - Prices are decent, especially if you are targetting sales every week - The produce is fresh The only thing that can be tricky is that you do need a quarter to use the cart. I sometimes have change. I sometimes don't have any. I have had a quarter once out of my two times shpping here. I ended up using a basket when I didn't have any change, which was fine. I only needed a few items. The produce is excellent. I had the best strawberries here. They were ripe and in pristine condition. The celery was in great condition too. The apples in bags are also competitively priced and are yummy. The only downside that I saw were eggs in cartons. Many of them were broken. I don't know if it's due to customers or if the eggs were broken in the first place. It was a bit of a downer trying to find a decent dozen. I was unsuccessful and ended up getting a carton at Shoppers Drug Mart. I like the frozen food section. The more carbs involved, the more interest I have. I have had the paratha stuffed with potatoes and plain ones. Both heated up so nicely in a hot skillet. I've also had garlic naan, which was perfectly yummy. I've had the pork and chive potstickers. They were excellent, too. I've seen steamed buns that I'd like to try next. Prices seem to hold for weeks. The Pillsbury Pizza Pops have been at $3 for a box of four when you buy three boxes. You save practically two dollars per box and take advantage of getting the Old El Paso beef and cheese taco, which is excellent. It was this price both times that I was there. I hope that the deal is still around. The cereal aisle is cool. I have seen everything from strawberry milkshake Frosted Flakes, to Cinnamon Toast Crunch Minis. I like variety and seeing what sugary flavours are out there. I've had friendly cashiers at this grocery store. Getting my Scene barcode on my phone scanned has never been an issue. I've also paid with a credit card both times. Easy peasy. It's a clean supermarket. The parking lot does get a bit busy, but I've always been able to find parking. (202) read more

Feels like a long weekend... Sunday morning at 10:30a and there's hardly anyone in the store. Some questionable donuts with opened safely seals?? Mid way through the flyer week and specials are still in stock, except for OJ! Great local store with good selection. read more

This is a super supermarket---convenient location, clean, full shelves, varieties of everything... I would love to see more lactose-free selections: milk, ice-cream, cream cheese & yogurt. read more

This store is close to my house but I come here usually for their salmon and quick things I need for my home. If you come here on a busy day like weekends, holidays when open, and/or after work hours, good luck getting through parking. You can get lucky and snipe one that just opened, but it can get pretty ridiculous! I'm only saying this because I have a baby and try to park a bit closer. Inside is pretty standard and looks pretty similar to Food Basic. I do find that they have more produce selection compared to Food Basic (I shop there at times too). I love how you can price match at Freshco. There are workers basically everywhere so if you need help, there's someone. Also there isn't much of a line up (unless busy days of course) because they actually open up the lanes! read more

This place looks like a typical North American supermarket to me. It's of medium price range so not a place to discover exotic ingredients or new option for organic meats, but for covering general cooking needs for someone used to North American diet this place is probably enough. However, I had one bad experience here lately that made me do not want to give out a higher rating and would consider avoid visiting this store in the future because it reflects strangely silly management decisions. The story was I wanted to buy two cans of beer during a recent visit, but at checkout I was asked to REMOVE MY FACIAL MASK just for making sure I was the person on the legal ID I was showing...Okay, I could see that someone underaged might be able to borrow their elder sibling's ID perhaps, and sneak pass with alcohol, but is this comparable with COVID spreading risk? Why haven't I be this cautiously checked across ALL OTHER STORES I ever visited since mask becomes generally mandatory? Isn't this extra check also going against the store's own rule of no entrance without masks? I know perhaps a quick second of no mask is unlikely to significantly increase the chance of me getting ill, but...also look, the store staffs are also standing closer to each other comparing to what I saw in other stores. So can I conclude this store looks less safe than other supermarkets, and also potentially less welling to trust their customers but instead would rather let customer risk? The end of this story was I dropped the beer and said it was not worth the hassle. read more

I have been coming to this Freshco since it first opened. I really like their varieties (International selection) and price is comparable to no frills and other discount grocery stores. Meat department here is just so clean. I like how I can just order whatever I want instead of just getting the pre packaged items. The parking spaces though feels a little tight and this place get crazily busy. read more

This review is directed, at freshco head office. The store I deal, with on mcarthur in Ottawa. The issue i have is, you put out a flyer every week.. But when I go, into the store the item is not available. I would like to, know why I have cancer and a low immune system. I dont drive so I, walk two kilometers each way. This morning I went, to get paper towels there weresome read more

Price chopper closed down and this place opened up. Same corporation anyways. Fresh Co is under Sobeys. Like the fact that they have price matching policies here so they will match major competitors. The flyer starts on Thursday to Wed instead of the usual Friday to Thursday like other places. A few aisles of international food items as well. Fresh seafood and meat departments owned by Chinese people I think. NEW UPDATE: Price Match Policy is LIMITED to 2 of the same item only. All in all, the price is acceptable. The promotion sometimes get quite attractive jus gotta look out for it. read more

Believe it or not, this was the first Freshco I ever visited. However I have visited here before, back when it was called Price Choppers. Selection is similar to No Frills and all the other typical non-Asian grocery stores in terms of produce and meat, however I find this store has a somewhat higher selection of international foods, which isn't too surprising considering its location in Richmond Hill. Price-wise it's about similar to No Frills and Sobeys. They do have price match, but generally all the major stores have the same prices anyway. The cashiers were overall average. Nothing spectacular like being extremely talkative, but they do smile, say hi, say the total, and say goodbye. I don't travel to this part of Richmond Hill often, but if I need to stop by to buy something and am nearby I certainly wouldn't mind coming here. read more

This is one of the best super markets to catch a good deal! Last summer, when I lived alone, I lived off fresh co basically. They are mostly fresh, and they have prices nobody can beat, and if someone can- they do price match. They have international aisles, so if you're looking for ingredients for ethnic foods, pretty sure they got you. The store is also well kept, and clean. The fruits/veggies are not the widest selection, but they have the basics and that makes me happy enough. Sometimes, they also got deals going on! It could be the most random things, but the deals are off the wall good. Parking is not TOO bad.. sometimes it's horrendous because people just cross without looking first- ok you have right of way but do you want to die? Also, many cars pull to the side and put their hazard lights on and just expect that to be okay. I'm not sure if they're aware but NO. You can't do that. Ugh, I hate it. Pretty sure you'll always be able to find a parking space though!! If you're low on budget, and need food- hit this place up. read more

ZERO STARS - What a loser company! They wouldn't return exchange a $10 product that was bad. Their loss. Will NEVER shop there again! Walmart would have done it without hesitation. read more

Once you make it through the parking lot without dying, congratulations- it gets better from here. Plenty of passable produce, an international foods aisle, sea bass for your emergency Asian dinner needs, and even an organic section for your muesli indulgences. Browsing here might even be fun, with a slightly higher ceiling and warmer lighting than the average Freshco. I don't think I ever truly enjoyed shopping here though, especially as you bag your multiple items all by yourself while the next customer is already swiping their card (and stepping over you in the meantime). Then again, it's Freshco, so you obviously came here for the good prices and not to luxuriate in some branding experience. Verdict: 100% function, 0-100% fun (it's what you make of it). read more

I LOVE this FreshCo location! The staff are always so friendly! The general manager can often be seen working along side his staff--and is very approachable. The variety of international food offerings is amazing and the store is always busy but not overwhelmed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I have always felt safe and I appreciate the dedication of the store's staff! read more

Fresh CO is gangster, they opened up shop in this piece of land in anticipation of the eventual neighbourhood this area will become. SO far, there are more raccoons here than there are residents, but when they come, this grocer will cash in. Being the only grocery store as far as the eyes can see, it's a good move. I make the trek to this severely out-of-the-way Fresh Co location from where I live because it's a pleasant drive, and they have lemon concentrate not from Concentrate at 99 cents each, bottled in fake plastic lemons. The effort human beings go to achieve certain ideals of visual merchandising it reason enough. Lemon concentrate in fake lemons, what better carbon footprint story is there? This location is deceivingly big. If you are as cool as I am, you can find yourself browsing through the aisles and lose yourself to inertia of obscure radio station music, incandescent lighting, and other shoppers dragging themselves about at a zombie pace. This is the kind of grocery store catering to the most discerning of mouth breathers, and sleeveless shirt wearing rebels, and maybe an OPP officer. This place has it all, if all you need is munchies for your Sunday night football gatherings--or is it Mondays that they play football? The vegetables are as advertised, FRESH! I am ambiguous to Canada's definition of 'fresh'. I grew up in a environment where I used to pick vegetables from the land, so I can only assume that these crops are sourced locally. I hope that's the story here, maybe I'll research it during a football game evening. The place is clean, I am very impressed by the cleanliness of this store. Whether that can be attributed to a higher standard of the manager, or the lack of people who actually come here is completely irrelevant. Psychologically, it encourages more shopping. There is a lot of emphasis on the less perishable products here than the perishable. I think this is a mistake for a store called Fresh Co. It would make sense for there to be a much larger vegetable section, and a butcher serving freshly cut loins. This would be a niche which is suitable for current dietary trends. Parking here sucks. read more

This Fresh Co. is super close to work, so I may be visiting this place more once I move out. I really like the sales here - sometimes beats out Walmart. The aisles are also very clear cut, so you won't be scrabbling around looking for something. When you walk in, the left side is the produce/fruits section while the left side are processed meats/health conscious drinks. Keep walking straight and you'll see the bakery/fresh meat section (my favourite). The rest of the aisles are for you to discover, so go in and have fun! You won't be lost trying to find something. Happy hunting! read more

I come to this FreshCo quite a bit and it has it all. - Fresh fish counter - Fresh meat counter, not deli though - Lots of vegetables including a variety of Asian vegetables - Price match, gotta love that from Freshco - It's quite clean - Has similar layout as all other Freshco's. The one thing I don't like about Freshco layout is the small opening between the Produce and the cashier section, what is with that? Is it to encourage me not to checkout right away and walk around more? read more

They will honour price match and the sales are good. I find the store to flow very well - simply convenient to find everything you need. First thing you see when you walk in is the produce section. I find the meat department selection to be good and well-priced. There international selection is actually pretty good lots of selection and varieties Parking could be better but not too bad. Also the shopping carts are clean and seem well maintained. Doesn't look like a big store but inside is huge well-spaced you can move around nicely. read more

I only come to this grocery store when I don't feel like driving to my regular grocery store. The produce section is tiny when compared to other stores in the area (Fortino's, Highland Farms, etc). Prices are decent but you get what you pay for. This is a great place to buy canned goods, cereal, butter, milk, ice cream, pop, etc as prices are lower than others in the area. Meat section isn't anywhere near as large as other stores, although their prices are typically better. What really steers me away though are the endless checkout lines. Every time I've gone in the lines are right back to the aisles.....which make maneuvering across the front of the store next to impossible. Also....lines typically move slower as many people bring in ads from other stores and attempt to price match. read more
