Thank goodness that I caught each of these charges. I went back to the store, my time, my gas to get a full refund as I should. The way I was handled was that is was a common occurance and oh well. Well it is a BIGGGGGGG CONCERN and that is why I am writing this review PLEASE PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECIEPTS THERE IS A PATTERN HERE AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BE A SOBEYS VICTIM.

The store was open 24 hours a day and had everything that I wanted. It shut down. I was sad. I sought other places to get groceries. The hours were the best. I remember shopping here after the company Christmas party at around 1 am. I was the fanciest person wearing a chiffon skirt, shiny blouse, and a long coat in the store. I also pumped gas in that outfit afterwards. Ah, memories. Anyway, I don't shop at FreshCo often. There's one on my old route from the office in Etobicoke that I'd drop by once in a blue moon. A few weeks ago, just before Easter, I decided to check this FreshCo location out. I'm glad that I did. I am so used to getting a cart without requiring a coin deposit that I was shocked to see that you needed a quarter to unlock it. I don't carry change with me during this pandemic. Luckily, there was a nice man with a plastic green tool that simulated a coin. He inserted it into the coin slot of my cart and it was unlocked from the one ahead of mine. Yay! Such an angel. I thanked him and carried on. The produce is in pretty decent shape here. The celery and melons looked fresh and pristine. I got a bag of avocados that were perfect. I also got carrots, mushrooms, and onions. I was happy. The bread section is also great. Cinnabon and Sun-Maid breads were there. I liked the brioche baguettes that looked fancy. My main reason for dropping by this store was for a couple of items to make my Easter meal: stuffing and a turkey. The best prices were at FreshCo and both were in stock. I love Stove Top stuffing. It's a great supermarket shortcut. I aad finely chopped mushrooms, onions, and celery to it. I love it so much that it disappears fast. At the beginning of this pandemic, only huge turkeys were available, and I'm not talking about some of my colleagues. I'm glad that 5 to 7 kg turkeys are available these days. It's plenty for me and my parents to devour. I got a Butterball and was happy. After getting my main list of items done, it was time to check out the rest of the supermarket. The frozen foods are impressive. I have never seen so many variations of Jamaican patties, including vegan ones. I bought a box of baked beef ones and they were yummy. The other highlight was the assortment of paratha and naan available. I stood in front of this fridge section for the longest time trying to decide which flavour I wanted. I settled for the onion paratha. As an aside, they pan-fry nicely and quickly. They are flaky and so good. I came back recently and got a box of empanadas. They were excellent, too. Both times, I had no difficulties at the checkout. Both women helping me out were nice. I tapped with my debit card and my groceries were all mine. You do need to either bring your own bags or get a free box from the pile before you exit the store. I had bags during my first visit. I had a handful of items during my second visit, so I carried them to my car and put them in a reusable bag. I like this FreshCo. It's clean. Prices are cheap. The quality is decent. The only weird thing is the quarter deposit to get a cart. I need to find one of those coin contraptions that the nice man had. There was plenty of parking both times that I was there. I backed into my spots both times. I'll be back. I'll likely try every paratha and patty flavour that this store offers. (150)

Their dairy section with a huge variety of kefir and probiotics was a pleasant surprise. The fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables did not disappoint! (Pictures attached). I just looked at him and he walked away. I couldn't believe it. After we checked out we noticed a staff member loitering near our car. It was a very strange, hostile experience. My partner also had rude, really negative experiences before that. So much so that she refuses to shop there anymore.Years ago we were regular customers.

Large variety of everything you can think about is here. Prices are more expensive here but you really do pay for what you get. It's not just the products, it's also the customer service in my opinion. Cashiers are happy and will actually smile at you when checking out. Parking situation is a tad annoying since it's at First Markham Place, and it's always busy here. Overall, worth the hectic parking lot and the amount of people. It's the best Asian supermarket in Markham, hands down!

Sometimes, especially on weekdays when they're not busy, the security guard at the door tries to make himself look busy by harassing customers. Usually, while I look for parking, my teenage son goes in and starts shopping. But if the store is empty, security guard stops him from going in, for no reason. This happened multiple times. When the store is busy and there are lots of people, nobody does stuff like that. So our options are; deal with horrible parking lot on the weekends or deal with power tripping low intelligence security guards during the week. One time, he asked me to go in while my son would wait at the door. What?!? What kind of policy is that? I'm sure there's no such policy but the man didn't understand the instructions.

I hadn't been here in years and felt it was time to check it out again. I had no problem finding a spot. I backed into one. With my umbrella protecting me from the rain, I headed inside the store to shop. This store has a Starbucks. There used to be a standalone Starbucks store nearby that I liked. It shuttered for good. It's good to know that if I need one, I can come here. I needed celery. The celery looked sad here. It looked abused and bruised. Poor celery. It was slim pickings, but I got some. There were some other items that were in better shape. Mushrooms were great. The hydrangeas looked healthy blooming away. The dairy-free beverage section made me happy. This store has a Joe Fresh section. I like browsing to figure out what styles are cool. The downside to Joe Fresh clothing is that articles that I have purchased in the past don't last long. I find that the quality isn't great. This place has portabella jerky. It isn't cheap, but it's nice seeing meatless alternatives. I was also happy with the Russell Stover candy varieties. I love this brand so much. I headed to the checkout and had a nice woman assist me. I paid with a debit card. I scanned my PC Optimum barcode from my phone. All went well. I dropped by Fusion Supermarket to get to Tagpuan. What?…read more I had placed a Too Good to Go order from Tagpuan. I then realized when I got here that it was inside Fusion Supermarket. Perfect! I needed to pick up a few grocery items. I could kill two birds with one stone. Aside: I've heard that this saying angers animal activists and I should say, "Mash two potatoes with a fork." But, wouldn't veggie activists be upset now? I had no problem finding this supermarket. It was brightly lit when the sun was set at around 6 pm on a Tuesday night. I found a parking spot relatively close to the main entrance and backed my car in. I then walked into the supermarket. I love visiting a new supermarket. I always feel comfortable in one, no matter where I am. I felt the same thing here. The produce section was amazing. It was vast and looked impeccable. I picked up celery that was flawless and wrapped in plastic wrap. I also got a huge avocado. I found Tagpuan straight ahead when I walked into the store. It's a great addition to a Filipino supermarket. The seafood section is impressive. There were huge tanks of fish. There was so much to look at, from pear mango drinks, to huge jackfruit. I didn't walk the entire supermarket, but I want to return to do just that. I was hungry, so I fetched my dinner and a few groceries before checking out. I had a friendly woman at the cashout area. My items were less than $10. I was paying with a debit card, which meant that a 25-cent charge was added to my grocery total. I was good with it. I don't carry cash during a pandemic and it was such a negligible cost. The woman bagged my items. I thanked her and left with my dinner and groceries. I enjoyed coming here. I'll need to check out the chicharron and snacks next time. I have a feeling that the selection is pretty good, judging from how the produce section looked and was. (74)

We were hosting a party and came to Sobeys to buy balloons. Along with the balloons we purchased in-store, I politely asked the lady if she could also help inflate a few balloons we brought ourselves. I even offered to pay for the service. Her response? A flat-out "No," delivered with a tone so cold it felt like I was asking for a personal favor instead of being a paying customer. When I asked why, she simply said, "We don't take responsibility." I asked what kind of responsibility she meant -- she had no answer. She just repeated that they couldn't do it. Her attitude was downright unpleasant. She even told me to "go to Canadian Tire, they'll do it." Honestly, the entire interaction felt like I owed her money or had done something wrong, when all I did was make a simple, reasonable request -- as a customer who had just made a purchase, no less. Well, I did go to Canadian Tire. And guess what? Their service was fantastic. They gladly helped inflate all the balloons -- including the ones I brought -- and their prices were better too. The exact same balloons were cheaper there. So here's my advice: If you're preparing for a birthday party and need balloons, go straight to Canadian Tire. You'll be met with friendly service and fair prices. But if you go to this Sobeys and happen to run into that same grim-faced lady, be prepared to have your day -- and possibly your child's special day -- completely ruined.
