Chicken and Veggie Bento
Lisa K.

First the positive: very sweet staff and quick service. But oof- I can't say a single good thing about this "bento". It's dried out shredded chicken that's even drier on the outside (note the even browner bits) with lumps of brown congealed inedible "sauce" and truly sad steamed vegetables. It's going in the garbage- so bummed.

Bimbambop wrap

The sign at Rice Junkies describes my current feelings about Rice Junkies ... "Healthy Addiction". I'm a Rice Junkie Junky. I've been hitting up Rice Junkies for lunch quite often and have tried most of the menu by now. Whatever mood or craving I have, I can satisfy it with the menu at Rice Junkies. My favorite is the bimbambop wrap with egg, veggies and pulled pork. The Mexican wrap is also pretty fabulous with guacamole, cheese, rice and beans. Everyone who works here is really nice and friendly. Quick, tasty, and convenient.

I got a spicy pork Bi Bim Bap with brown rice. Yummy!

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND…read more This was hands down some of the best food I've ever had. The server was outstanding and had us cracking up the whole time. ( guy in glasses) we came here for my husbands birthday and it was amazing service and food. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left everything was great!! The drinks were delicious. We ordered almost everything off the menu because we couldn't decide. The chicken was AMAZING. I can't wait to come back!

We were glad we came when we did...anyway, onto the food+drink! -Life of Luxury Cocktail, this thing was served in a HUGE fish cup, lol! Bigger than my hand/as big as my face. It's on the sweet side, but I needed something sweet as a buffer since some of the dishes we ordered were a bit too salty. -Thai-Style Ceviche, 11/10. No friggin' notes. I highly recommend. Portion is a bit small, because I could have eaten MORE. -Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken was decent. We ordered the Small and it was about 5-6 boneless pieces. Very unique. I recommend to try if you like fried chicken. -Wok-Fried Yu Choy was wayyyy tooooo salty. Hubs & I wanted some greens and it was fried with generous amounts of garlic, but it just got saltier and saltier as we ate it. -White Curry w/ Brisket Burnt Ends, this dish was a little bit of a mixed bag. The white curry (roasted cauliflower + coconut cream) was delicious, but did it pair well with the Brisket Burnt Ends? Not really IMO. I don't think the flavors match. I'm not exactly sure what would pair well with the white curry, maybe some veg or tofu...but BBQ fusion with the curry wasn't the best. 2 unisex restrooms available, the one I used was clean. Service was a little scattered. We got the Yu-Choy first, followed by the ceviche a few minutes later. But the Fried Chicken and White Curry took a while to come (about another 10-15 mins. to come). We were lucky to find some street parking in the neighborhood nearby.

It's definitely a nice spot for dinner. The service was great, and our food came out pretty quickly. You order at the counter first, and they give you a number to take to your table. We ordered the pho with steak and brisket, and it was delicious! We also got the vermicelli with pork, which had a lot of flavor. The portions are pretty generous, so the vermicelli would be great to share. Overall, we had a great experience at Luc Lac. Let me tell you, if they had this place in Seattle, it would be poppin' for sure. Loved the decor, and the service was amazing. We were a party of 8, and they did the most to get us seated. They even combined two tables for us without too much wait. We appreciated this so much! This is one of those places where you order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table, although they also seat you. So you wait in line to order, and then you wait a little longer to get a seat. The menu is on a huge, lit-up billboard behind the counter, so you'll see folks crowded in that area trying to read it. The food was alright, no one was particularly blown away. I got a pho, and I would say it was okay. I think you come here more for the vibe and scratching that craving than for out-of-this-world food/flavors. The music is good, the servers were all super friendly, and it's a great vibe. Fyi, there's mostly street parking.

The tempura oyster mushrooms app was good, a bit too much batter tho. When I got my plate of "Tempura shrimp" plate. It wasnt what was pictured. (see pic). When I called the waitress over. She said yeah that's the grill shrimp rice plate! That's not what I ordered. You don't even offer that dish on the menu. I repeated that I ordered the tempura shrimp plate. She then asks me. What is tempura anyways? I show her the picture on the menu. She said oh. I never knew what tempura was? That's odd- you don't know your own menu? Of course the table next to us got the right order. They ordered the tempura shrimp plate and thats what she got! $21 for 5 small tiny shrimp. My daughter got the tofu rice bowl which came on a plate with super hard fries tofu, almost not edible. Quite disappointed with the food and prices. Won't be back.

Brunch in Portland, Oregon…read more.. After I read reviews about Portland's Chinatown, I searched for a dimsum place outside of Chinatown and found Jade Rabbit I liked the name of the place and saw that they had two kinds of rabbit-shaped dimsum! Another cool thing is that their menu is vegan... that means that I don't have to worry about dairy products that give me pain. We found free street parking about a half a block away and waited for Jade Rabbit to open at 11am. We didn't have reservations, but we're seated immediately. The decor was great! I enjoyed looking at all of the Rabbit figurines! The furniture was colorful and the convenient restroom had interesting decorations, too! The service was okay. Some items were not available and our server recited the list that included chow funn. Shucks! She came back later and said that the chow funn was, in fact, available... yay! Our server seemed a bit nervous as her hand shook and placed the special menu upside-down... LOL! We won't bite you! She recommended the Ube Jam drink - it was made with coconut cream... yes! The chow funn was a bit bland. We added some soy sauce. The Puto Pao Bunny Bao had an unusual flavor - maybe the brown sugar can be omitted because the black garlic and vegan pork might be fine without it? The Jade Rabbit Dumplings also could be more savory. Something was off... and the filling was a bit sparse. Anyway, maybe we could have ordered better, but we got what we wanted! Thank you for the cute food! Note: 22 percent is added to the bill - so no need to tip.

Food wise, the things I usually order are the salted egg yolk curry fries and the roti canai plus minus another vegetable dish as available. Omnivore friends definitely love the ayam goreng berempah aka the Malaysian fried chicken. This place is quite consistent when it comes to taste/flavor; this, plus the ambiance, and the service move it from a 4 to a 5 for me. It is quite popular so highly recommend making reservations online, esp if you have a small group vs solo/2 person dining. Drinks wise, they have cocktails, a cocktail for a cause, slushies, wine, beer, and zero proof options (mocktails, sodas, teas). I have tried cocktails, jello shots, and the slushies -- all of which have been pretty tasty. Price wise, this is on the higher end but you do get a quality meal with fresh tasting ingredients. Their menu is seasonal and changes, but one dish we had was the Crispy Eggplant Chaat, and YES, get it even if you're not the biggest fan of eggplant. And the Roti?! SO good! Annnd the drinks! I'm always happy to see a solid NA/mocktail menu, and the Scorched Reviver did not disappoint! I also heard nothing but good things about the Ube "Emo" Margarita (with alcohol)... so good that THREE were ordered! Fun atmosphere, disco vibes, great service, and seriously delicious food. What more could you want?! Highly recommend! This was easily one of the highlights of our Portland food adventures, and I'll absolutely be back!!
