Went here with a friend on a rainy day. The upside is that for my fellow veg friends, theres a decent number of options. The vegan spicy garlic was something I was super excited to try and while it was spicy, there unfortunately was not a lot of appreciable flavor. Definitely warmed me up on a cold day but not my favorite. My friend got the curry ramen and truly enjoyed how flavorful hers was.

Sorry for the bad photo, I started eating and then took one haha. Super good ramen place in a fun location! So much flavor and a good amount of meat. Egg was cooked perfectly as well. It was fun to sit at the table watching them cook, although, I did see the main dude wiping his hands on his dirty pants and then grabbing things to cook, but I assume anything bad was boiled/cooked off. They seem to have unique bowls in rotation too. Might be my second favorite ramen place now!

Bold Flavors & Generous Portions - Ramen Done Right Matsunoki Ramen in Portland served up one of the most satisfying ramen experiences we've had. The portions are huge--definitely come hungry. The broth is rich, the noodles are perfectly chewy, and you can customize your bowl with flavorful add-ons like their house chili paste, which adds a great kick without overpowering the base. We also ordered the shishito peppers, which were incredible--flash-fried, perfectly salted, and served with a chili dipping sauce that made them addictive. Seriously, don't skip them. The ramen itself was hearty, flavorful, and comforting in every way. One bowl felt like a complete meal (or two!). It's the kind of food that hits the spot and leaves you thinking about it the next day. Total comfort food with great execution. Highly recommend if you're in Portland and craving ramen with serious flavor and serious portions.

Atmosphere: Matsunoki sits in a nice food hall with ample seating, bar, water station and restrooms Food: While I had read some mixed reviews, I found this ramen to be quite enjoyable. One of my preferred ramens in Portland. Would definitely come back for the food Price: Standard for ramen Service: Little bit inattentive at first but otherwise fine Parking: Street parking

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was chill! I got the spicy garlic ramen and it delivered in taste and spice! It was a good hearty serving.

I've been here a few times now and the food had been consistent and quick. The limited options makes ot easier for me to choose what to eat. During this visit, I ordered the Black Garlic Shoyu ramen with a side of chili paste. The broth had a good flavor to it and the egg was cooked perfectly. Other than my piece of pork being overcooked, it was a good meal.

This ramen shop was located inside the Pine Street Market food hall. Not sure if you can place an order with an employee, but they had 2 screens at the counter for you to place your order. My order was for their tonkotsu shoyu ramen. They'll call your name when your food is ready. The broth was good, not too thick and overly greasy. The ajitama was on point. That was a solid bowl of ramen. I came here at around 3 pm on a Saturday so it wasn't crowded at all with plenty of available seating.

Hands down my favorite place in Portland to get vegan ramen! I love bringing friends here because they have non vegan and vegan options. The staff is always friendly but they are often busy so if you're looking to take your ramen home, I recommend ordering ahead. My favorite is the vegan spicy garlic ramen! So full of flavor and wonderful spice level. Located in the Pine Street Market - We went on a Saturday evening and dined in - the trash in the Pine Street Market was unfortunately over flowing and smelled bad. The tables were dirty so I had to wipe a table down using napkins. But please note that I am rating Matsunoki Ramen 5 stars because their food is phenomenal!

I had the black garlic ramen and it was pretty bland. They also forgot to add the pork belly so I had to ask for it, maybe the chef forgot to add salt to my order as well (although I assume the broth is pre-flavored). Also had the chicken tenders, they didn't taste like karage, so watch out. Pork belly was good though, and that's about it. My criteria of a good ramen is where I would like to drink the broth as well, no matter how bad it is for me lol. This wasn't it... sadly.

Super yummy ramen! My friend and I ordered the spicy garlic ramen, shishito peppers, and jumbo tenders. For my ramen I added extra chashu and egg. It was very filling, the chashu was super yummy and cooked perfectly. The shishito peppers had this orange sauce that paired perfectly with the peppers. And the tenders were filling. Overall great ramen place and service was friendly.

Second time at Matsunoki. It's located inside the pine street market, a food hall with a variety of delicious restaurants and a bar! I was disappointed by this visit because I thought that the vegan red ramen was bland, and the tofu was a bit sour. I would definitely try again because my first experience was positive.

Ramen was a bit lacking. Got the spicy ramen which was not spicy but that is to be expected due to everyone's palette. Could/should give an extra side of spice in most cases then. Ingredients were very lacking. A single bland pork belly. Whole egg was not marinated either. They almost got it done right, half the egg was fully cooked, usually you want it still very liquid. Other than scallions, no other toppings which would be expected. No mushrooms, seaweed, corn, bean sprout, anything? They did have some bits of tofu which was good in its own right but could have added a crunchy component by using hard tofu instead of soft. Service did take a while to make however it was the first bowl, so that may be a good or bad sign, haven't decided yet. Everything is self serve and bussing. I do like this pine st market cause there are several shops in the same building that you can order and then eat it all together. Unfortunately, it takes about 30-45 mins before all the shops are ready to take orders so don't get there too early. Service great. Ambiance was meh, meant for quick eat and go. Can see the place getting crowded and noisy. Overall, a good time, but likely won't be back for ramen but will try other restaurants. Others weren't ready to put orders so only had ramen. Happy eating!

My gf and I came here for wing week. The inside is really cool. We decided to sit at the counter, and got to watch the chef prepare and that was fun to watch. The wings were fantastic, and had the most amazing rice bowl I've ever tasted. The pork belly though. How do they get it so tender! 2024 most tender cut of pork goes to Matsunoki Ramen. Will def be back

While a few things stood out, the meal as a whole didn't quite hit the high marks I was hoping for. Here is how it broke down: The Starters (The Highlight): Karaage (Fried Chicken): This was easily the best part of the meal. The pieces were large, juicy, and had a great, ultra-crispy crunch on the outside. Takoyaki: Decent texture and well-presented on a long plate with plenty of bonito flakes, making it a solid appetizer to share. The Mains (A Bit Average): Spicy Ramen: The noodles had a good chew, but the broth lacked the deep, rich complexity you expect from a really stellar ramen. Even with the spicy paste mixed in, the flavor profile felt a bit flat. Chashu Don (Rice Bowl): While it was a generous portion packed with chopped chashu and minced meat, it ended up tasting a bit monotone after a few bites and could have used more balance or a punchier sauce. Overall, it's a fine spot if you want a quick, filling meal, but the flavors didn't quite wow me enough to make it a standout. Solid, but nothing mind-blowing.
